Tasogare

This was the scent I bought the Kōsui discovery set to experience and that I was most excited about from the notes and description. Unfortunately, it was also the biggest disappointment. Didn't dislike it, but it just didn't evoke much emotion or interest for me at all. It felt very flat. Reminded me of the kind of scent that is made by executives in a boardroom rather than a perfumer with artistic passion. Would I wear it? Sure. Would I buy it? Not again. For the price, this fell very short.

I had the opportunity to smell Tasogare by Kosui at Scent Fest, and I genuinely could not stop thinking about it afterward. It has this beautiful designer-like quality, but elevated in the absolute best way—and I mean that as a huge compliment. It feels polished, sexy, and instantly appealing, while still having that niche edge that makes it feel more special and refined. The opening is a gorgeous citrus: bright, smooth, and a little seductive without being sharp. As it dries down, it becomes this intoxicating blend of tonka and cedarwood that feels warm, airy, and addictive. It has such a beautiful balance between freshness and sensuality. It does remind me of Libre, but almost like an airier, more niche interpretation. Libre is my favorite designer fragrance and one of the scents that got me into perfume, so I mean that comparison in the best way possible. Finding something in that same realm, but with its own unique personality and more elevated feel, is so exciting. Tasogare is elegant, sexy, easy to love, and beautifully done. It’s the kind of fragrance that stays in your mind long after you smell it.
