Lovely Patchouli 55 Night

Lovely Patchouli 55 Night is a woody spicy fragrance that feels rich, warm, and deeply enveloping. From the first spray, it’s thick in the best way, smooth, resinous, and impossibly well blended. Nothing sticks out. Everything melts together. Notes of amber, patchouli, sandalwood, vanilla, bergamot, and musk (and whatever else) are woven so seamlessly that it’s hard to isolate them. This is one of those fragrances where understanding how the house sources its materials really matters. The quality is unmistakable, and to me, it makes the price make sense. Plastic caps and all. This house is about the juice. It’s about substance over flash. I have a large perfume collection, and while my husband is incredibly supportive, he rarely reaches for my fragrances. Except this one. In his words, “This is THE one.” He wears it confidently, and it suits him just as beautifully as it does me. Truly unisex, no leaning, no apologies. I also own Lovely Patchouli 55 (regular), which I adore, and I don’t find them redundant at all. The regular version is more fruit-forward, with a sweeter, slightly softer patchouli base. Still stunning, but next to Night, my husband now finds the regular a bit too feminine for his taste. Lovely Patchouli 55 Night is luxurious, grounding, and intoxicating in a quiet, assured way. A standout not just in this house, but in my entire collection.

It's lovely alright but I find this version doesn't last on the skin. I can just about detect it after an hour, much more than that, it's gone. Devastated for the money this cost.

The Night version is much better with pronounced patchouli, nothing like the other Angel-esque version.

This stuff is just on another level and is what I was exactly looking for. I am a big fan of the original, but I always found it to be a bit on the feminine side for me. I have been told by female coworkers that, when I wear the original, it's something they would love to wear on themselves, but not so much on their significant other. However, with the night version, it's the complete opposite. The ladies had much preferred the night over the original on their significant other and found it dirty, yet, sexy. I'm happy with this because it does capture the original, but less of the sweetness. I really feel this is a "For Men" version. #1 favorite!

I have experienced both the classic and the night versions, and while I enjoy them both, the night version is my favorite. I do not find it dirty or overly earthy as some have described, quite the opposite. It may lack the sparkle and fruitiness of the original, but on my skin it leans more vanilla-forward, with a smooth, sweet, and captivating character. It feels “oilier” than the classic, with less projection, yet it lingers noticeably longer. The patchouli in the night version also comes across as lovelier to me than in the original. In my book, it does not lean masculine as suggested below. Truly a stunner.

This is a very strong stuff. A killer. A very deep, dark mono-theme patchouli with all its earthiness, woodiness and extra spiciness. I would not dare to wear it casually.
