Teatro Alla Scala

I have the miniature dab on bottle that looks like the photo on this Fragrantica page; about 5 of them and have only used up one of them. This month and next January and February in cold weather in winter time is good for wearing this absolutely gorgeous fragrance. The initial top note that reaches my nose are the aldehydes. Like with so many classic vintage aldehyde perfumes, it feels like a very nice luxury soap. It's unisex soap so it's more a warm spicy woody soap than a floral soap. As for the florals, they are tucked away somewhere. To my nose this is a jasmine floral scent but it's a shy jasmine that is shrouded in oak moss, patchouli, sandalwood, amber, woods and honey. The perfume is quite strong but I am guessing the spray version is stronger than the dab on. With a dab on you can just put it on specific parts of your skin/body like wrist or neck and one or two dabs won't project much. It's a close to the skin intimate scent so only you can smell it. I'm smelling musk by the time we reach the dry down. Not leather but a soft dark animalic musk, like civet. There is still plenty of spice notes floating around in there. This is also only a touch sweet but mainly a dark wood scent. This does smell very 'Italian Baroque' as many have pointed out. Smells like being in a palazzo (palace) or cathedral that is open to the public and has velvet red rope around so you can't touch the antique furniture i.e. thrones, canopied beds, chandeliers, classic writing desks, etc. It's a distinctly European scent with honey booze (beeswax or candle wax) faint florals of jasmine, carnation, tuberose, and it's smoky. There is a warm soft incense that persists for a long time. This is also clearly a dressy or formal wear scent and must be worn at night/evening. You can't just wear this with a T shirt and jeans. Has to be like as good as Sunday church clothing. Duration on the dab on is not as long as I'd like it to be. On me the most it ever lasts is 3 hours. But it's a warm and musky scent at the end. It's good for fall and winter and to wear with warm clothing layers of clothing like coats fur coats and gloves. Luxurious, elegant, dark, mysterious, Gothic, sexy, sensual, hypnotic, and beautiful in a classy unisex way. If you are gonna buy blind this one, make sure you have experience with vintage scents that are more or less along this vein like original Coco (Chanel) Opium by YSL, Passion by Elizabeth Taylor, Dana Tabu, Ciara by Revlon, and Cinnabar by Estee Lauder. Teatro is a wonderful aroma that I can't get enough of.

Opulent and dramatic; two adjectives that define Teatro Alla Scala to the bone. Released in the mighty 80's, Teatro, like many Italian fragrances of the era, came to compete with orientals such as Coco and Opium, the blockbusters that defined spices, debauchery and shoulder pads. But Teatro has more drama going for it. Amidst the spices, incense and resins, there's hot blooded temperament a la Italiana. A magnificent beeswax note that hasn't been replicated and a very animalic base. It's not just an oriental; the flowers, carnation primarily, are on fire. There's a deep winey tonality and an amazingly potent civet note that dirties up the base notes suggesting what will be revealed as soon as the furs and lamé dress come off. Smoke, deep red roses, carnation, honeyed beeswax, incense, civet! A syrupy nectar, a spicy ménage a trois; If Coco goes to the theatre and Opium to Studio54, Teatro goes to the opera and then to a slinky hotel room to have wild sex. Unapologetically potent and languid, it made sure that Krizia was on the map along with K, a beautiful aldehydic floral launched earlier. No doubt woman, it is a mighty oriental for men as well; no sugar, no fruity frou frou. Evocative, sensual, and sexual, the animal that growls inside the slightly kitsch faux tortoiseshell splash bottle is one of the most beautiful perfumes of the decade. Forgotten but very easy to come by, and much cheaper than Coco or Opium, it is a must try for fans of vintage orientals. Both edt and edp (very similar and equally strong btw) offer humongous sillage and longevity. Do seek it out before it's all gone. Review based on 1985 bottles of edt and edp.

The opening of Teatro Alla Scala is a flourish of soapy, fatty aldehydes and beeswax, a baroque affair, as it were, ushering in another age and time where monocles and opera glasses were part of the repertoire, a panoply of velvet and mahogany made up one's interior surroundings, and roses still smelled of roses, carnations still smelled of carnations, and civets had come hither looks rather than just giving coy winks. The heart is a meaty, robust bouquet of the most gregarious florals floating in prune compote, stewed fruits, and spiced wine. This is a grand crescendo, albeit it is all somehow smooth and supple. Incense billows with increasing intensity as Teatro continues to heat up on one's skin; this, combined with the beeswax and almost a chewy and resinous propolis scent, renders an almost tobacco-like effect, which undulates into the dry-down. The unctuousness subsides into a honeyed animalic apparition of antiquity, a civet's essence encased in amber, lived in musks are the coda of this journey. This concise summary doesn't nearly do Teatra enough justice. It must be experienced to be truly understood, to truly understand in a more visceral manner, the nuances and textures of this fragrance. Yes, it's that good. Yes, it's unisex, pay no mind to any other tropes regarding shoulder pads, big hair, over-the-top fruit flies, this transcends all of the cultural associations and if this were to be released today by indie darlings Papillon or Bogue, it would receive much hype and numerous accolades.

Teatro Alla Scala by Krizia was one of my favorite perfumes in the 1980s. I think all of the oldies shared that velvety feline heritage. Teatro Alla Scala by Krizia is another gorgeous animalic powerhouse. Sexy and reminiscent of the period, sharing DNA with Coco by Chanel, Fendi by Fendi, and her distant cousin, Opium. Years ago, when I wore Krizia, I had a Maine Coon cat who would rub herself all over my clothing each time I wore this scent. There's a reason why many posters here describe Krizia as a perfume with a flair for the dramatic of Wagnerian porportions. Sexy, smooth, feline and velvety, this is definitely a third-date perfume. I think a person of any age can wear Teatro Alla Scala, it is transcendent, reaching across the decades. What's important here is not to over apply, one spritz is enough, allowing the notes to open and breathe. Too many spritzes and it's trying too hard to be noticed. Discretion is the way to go here. I could see a young art student wearing this just as I could anyone who is older like myself (54). It certainly would be sexy if worn by a man. The leather, beeswax, civet, and musk would be an overt come-hither invitation.

Southernblonde, eliza, aurora, lucia, carolyn, brian and Gigi have all reviewed this fragrance. This needs to stop. I wouldn't mind betting they don't have the vast perfume wardrobes that some of their characters claim to have - or that they've even smelled some of them. You want to practice writing? Start a blog. This isn't helpful to genuine users of Fragrantica. Another thing about this duplicity which annoys me is that they can enter competitions to win something multiple times and - potentially - win multiple prizes. They can also "thumbs-up" their own reviews. Clearly this person needs external validation, but I don't see why we should be the people to provide it for them. Wow! STUNNING!! This takes me right back to the 80s in the best way possible, when orientals such as Opium, Fendi, and Cinnabar were unapologetically bold. It most closely resembles the original Fendi in my opinion. As a matter of fact, right upon application, the memo ry of that scent came immediately to mind. Spices, rose and incense supported by a thick, golden honey. I get no skank from this - the civet is not discernible to my nose in any urinous or fecal manner. I can only assume that it is blended so seamlessly that all it does is add to the sexiness of the composition. I can not think of a better name for this fragrance, as it evokes a grand, deep red velvet splendor I associate with the opera in general as well as it's namesake. I can almost hear Maria Callas singing, and that is not an exaggeration. Everything here is big and bold, befitting a true diva! This will be one of my special occasion scents. A masterpiece.

For someone, who, like myself - started to love orientals in perfumery from Shalimar, Ispahan and Opium – that would be 100% match and more. I see lots of ppl compared it with Scherrer 2, I adore Scherrer 2 but I cant see similarity. Now. Teatro Alla Scala is EXACTLY as her name states. Its a Woman Who Dressed up and ready to go to opera. Its not supposed to be "phisically" and literally but at least in her mind) She wants turned lights, dark heavy velvet of curtains, she wants to feel special in special place, where people whispering when talking to each other and chamber music connects you to another reality. On me its smoky all the way through aldehydes, rose and carnation till the sexy beeswax with civet and benzoin Its probably impossible to construct another perfume which would be so perfectly sexy, dramatic and feminine, apart of Shalimar Guerlain and Shocking Schiaparelli.

I really love the review by "weegee". It really nailed it! This is a really wonderful fragrance made to be worn by proud owner. It requires a proper outfit, very high class: fur coat-check, jewerly-check, good manners-absolutly! While it opens with a bit sharper note this one quicky becomes rose and honey! Sweet yet indeed with a dirty twist. The drydown is very animalistic to me. The dirty rose i would say. Very unique, i haven ́t smelled something like this for a long time (though i get a resemblance to Yves Rocherś "Ispahan Rose") and this is one of the good "old school" fragrances. Lasting power is enourmous!!! A true masterpiece evening wear fragrance! One of the best made by Krizia and one of the best i have tried. And now a pure parfum is on it ́s way to mamma :))) Can ́t wait to try this long forgotten beauty! Must be simply amazing!

Amazing bold, rich, opulent, intense, animalic fragrance. Everyone before me has pretty much said it already. I was 24 when this came out and just moving from my Shalimar and Cinnabar stage to my Opium and Mitsouko period. Somehow I never even heard of Teatro Alla Scalla. And I don't know if I would have loved it then anyway - I had a bottle of Bal a Versailles gifted to me in those years that I almost threw away. But wow, I sure do love it now. There is so much beauty going on here - carnation, incense, benzoin, tuberose, jasmine aldehydes, civet, oakmoss, musk and the all-encompassing beeswax/honey notes. I've got the parfum, edp and edt now - all to wear to the grocery store but hey, why not smell beautiful wherever you are. I'm very glad I didn't go through life without ever trying this one.

O my gosh! I once wrote a revue before but here I go, again. I went to Lush and was talking to the lady in the shop about an old showergel I loved, being one of the first fans in The Netherlands (I lived in Engeland for a while before Lush was available in The Netherlands). She asked me what the name of the showergel was. Flying fox, I replied. She replied it is available again and I must be a fan of Jasmine and honey mixed together... Now was I? I never made the connection and I’m a real perfume lover for over 40 years! Then I started looking at the perfumes I truly love... She was right. Teatro ala scala also has this signature. And now I’m going to buy Scherrer 2. Wow!!! Jasmine and honey. What a wonderful combination.

This is my first comment here, although I'm a member for long enough. This masterpiece deserves every penny and it's worth searching and finding. It's so round, well blended, it really shows how much mind and passion is put into it. Dramatical, multi-layered, unpredictable.... mind-blowing!!! The different notes merge so exquisitely and seamless,never fight with each other, they know when exactly to show and shine...and when to hide again. One moment you think that this woman is a virgin with breath of honeyed air. The very next moment, she transforms into a diva with red skin, hot as iron, dressed with liquid gold and red plush. Then you see her as a running animal,a beast with flashing eyes. Great,just great!

Heartbreakingly beautiful! Warm spices with honeyed amber, Teatro is yet another winner from the under appreciated house of Krizia. It took a while to procure a small bottle of this scent, and with the first drop I understand why this is rare and usually expensive. Krizia scents excel in using honey and beeswax notes. I have Moods, K de Krizia and Krazy Krizia - all vintage fragrances, all beautifully rich and deliciously spicy sweet with fruit notes. Teatro doesn't have fruit, at least not as far as I can tell. It does have old world style and sophistication in spades. There's a slight resemblance to Dana's Tabu, only much, much richer and velvety. I love Krizia's fragrances, and Teatro most of all.

OMG! This is one of the most beautiful fragrances I've had the pleasure to sniff. After reading Lucia's, Gigi's, and the other reviews, I decided to blind buy on eBay. It has been worth every penny. I'd been looking for an incense, civet, and oakmoss perfume and I have found it The honey note greeted me and then the incense followed. I have moved this perfume to the top of my list of favorites for this autumn and winter holiday season. Thank you Fragranticans. Your reviews on this site have been invaluable in helping me to experience perfumes I'd never have known existed. It's been many thrilling experiences.

EDT Version: If vintage diva and vintage coco had a baby, it be this with Opium as the godmother. Not a lot of civet in the edt, but the aldehyde opening will grab you. About 15 min in, it starts to shine and come together.The honeyed rose really stands out on my skin reminiscent of Diva. Love this for a spring/summer. Its lighter than vintage opium EDT for reference. EDP Vintage Version: This is where the COCO references com into play. Not as much honeyed rose as the EDT , but a spicier, heavier version of the EDT. Very Rich, opulant perfume.

Hubby knows how much I hate the seemingly never-ending trend of cloying, over-flowery, sweet, allegedly young fragrances that has taken the market hostage these days. So he did some research (e.i. browsed my 'Favorite Fragrances' list) and gave me a bottle of TAS for Christmas. I am over the moon! This is a beautiful sumptuous, exotic, heady fragrances like they only made in the 80s. I won't go over the description again. Just read the (favorable) reviews written before mine. And if you can, give this regal scent a chance. You won't regret it.

I got this Eau de Parfum today... wow... "Old-school" never never never say "Old-lady" (like -kstehelmi-) ...! I think it ́s a wonderful masterpiece and I am removed light years from beeing an "OLD LADY"! But maybe I get style... ;-))) I looove the beeswax, I can smell dehydrated roses, powder and velvet curtains...I am from the theatre...:-) "Teatro Alla Scala" is special, cozy, seductive and unique. Great pleasure to have it in my collection... standing next to "Talisman" Balenciaga! LOVE FROM LOUVE ! <3

Where has this beauty been all my life?! I've finally found it and am wearing it after reading reviews about it for months on end, and became increasingly aware that I was missing out on something special. Indeed I was, this is a gorgeous spicy woody animalic: I think if Opium, Fendi and Magie Noire all got together, something like this might be the result. I have read some people have said this is one of the most underrated fragrances of all time; I can't see myself ever tiring of wearing this.

Purchased a tiny sealed EDP bottle on eBay recently. The first drop transported me to the grand dames of the ‘50’s and ‘60’s with their powerful fragrances underneath heavy furs and lacquered hair. I see someone else got the same vibe...it’s exactly what I experienced. It’s beautiful and heavy and ultra feminine... a drop on my wrist seriously lasted 9 hours. An amber spicy floral with immense personality..imagine a marriage between Joy and Nahema. They just don’t make them like this any more.

I tested "Beverly Hills Gale Hayman" vintage (one Fragrantican says current "Glamour" is same formulation) on one wrist and Krizia's Teatro Alla Scala on other wrist, and with my chemistry, they developed very very much alike. Just wanted to share another fragrance to consider when replacing the withdrawn (and expensive) Teatro which I love. June 18, 2018 I ordered a bottle of Glamour to compare to my vintage Beverly Hills Gale Hayman and it is the very same scent. Thrilled.

I finally found a great deal of a large EDT and absolutelty love it! There is something in the notes that reminds me of red D&G and Le Chic. This fragrance has a very rich and luxurious feel to it. I defitinely would not call it old-fashioned......I don't even understand this term in perfumes. It can be either something you love, like, dislike, or something that turned from age or improper storage. To me this perfume is absolutely beautiful and ageless.
