Sweet Rain

To me, this fragrance smells nothing like the description above...it is a nice resinous scent. There is nothing fruity or aquatic about it. For me it's what I always want a myrrh scent to be. It is resinous with just the right amount of sweet, just a hint. It is warm and soft to me and has a nice 70's retro feel to it.

Currently cleaning out my perfume closet à la Marie Kondo. It's always hard throwing out fragrances because they bring you right back to a certain time in your life, which is why I'm writing this review. I want to remember how this scent made me feel (Part 2). I bought this bottle from the Kuumba Made website, when I was teaching English abroad and got into a perfume-oil phase. I remember receving the box of four small bottles in the mail and being excited to open it because I was in a strange town with no real friends, and this reminded me of the bigger world. This scent takes me back to the summer of 2014, first to a hike in Muir Woods in San Francisco, standing under the shade of giant redwoods with wet moss under my feet, and second, to a trip to Las Vegas a few days later. My sister said this scent reminds her of the smell of the casino -- sweet air freshener, vacuumed carpets, and cigarette smoke. I agree. I've never worn this scent as a perfume, but every once in a while I open the bottle to get a whiff and be transported back to that summer. Thank you, Sweet Rain, for your service, and farewell!

As others have said, the name "Sweet Rain" is a little odd because there really isn't anything aquatic in this scent. It is a nice, warm, sweet woodsy scent. It seems like there's just touch of patchouli and coconut or tobacco for depth. This is the kind of cozy scent that makes you want to snuggle up for a hug. It's got a bit of a hippie vibe.

The sweetest rain I've ever smelled! In fact, this smells not at all like rain to me, though it does smell good. I thought it might be a nice cool fragrance for summer, but is far too warm and sweet for that. The description lists "sweet notes" and alludes to a woody character. The wood seems like it might be sandalwood but this fragrance is so sweet it is hard to tell. I really wish Kuumba Made would list the sweet notes because I cannot identify them. There is nothing aquatic that I can detect. The best way I can describe this is as an unburned incense, perhaps nag champa & honey. I like it, but it is much more suited to Autumn wear.
