Water Goddess

This is really, really nice. I bought it on a website that said it would be a sandalwood and musk, which I expected to like, but it's more interesting than that. It's a mature take on a clean fragrance. Not straight up "clean sheets", it has a little bit more spice from the cedar and sandalwood, and it's ever so slightly sweet because of the tonka bean, but that's only a hint giving it some depth. It smells like you are wearing a nice simple perfume and used an expensive laundry detergent. I do personally get the watery notes, only in the beginning though. It's not aquatic, but watery. In the dry down, it's very powdery. I am dead serious when I mean a little goes a long way. Let me use two examples to explain. First time wearing it: I kept sniffing everything around me because I was wondering what smelled so good. I was wondering if my partner got us new laundry detergent. I was wondering if someone got in my car after using expensive shampoo. It was me, I smelled that good, it was this fragrance. I did not notice the smell was coming from me. I don't smell it when I put my nose to my wrist, but I do smell it in the air around me. Second time wearing it: I sat next to my partner a few minutes after applying, and she was like babe you smell good but that's too much perfume, I cannot smell anything else. I only dabbed a little bit on my wrists, neck and chest, and apparently that filled an entire room. I'm going to have to be careful with this one lol. Only downside is that I don't like the rollerball this comes with, it's plastic and scratchy. I decanted it into another bottle with a metal ball.

Kuumba Made has the tendency of not naming there perfume oils super accurately - aside from there more obvious notes (there Arabian (?) rose is super super super strong and definitely rose, and there lavender lace is very lavender, at least in vibe). Water Goddess, while initially just very weak water notes when not macerated, will become a very strong watery-musk scent, with a very powdery quality, that almost edges along a vanilla scent. I'd say if you like sweet fragrances but are often turned off by the sweetness in vanilla's used, this is a great alternative. The musk also is very present, but the 'bite' I associate with musk's is almost only at the beginning of the scent's use. Also, I wouldn't compare this to popular 'second-skin' fragrances on the market, but that's because there's not an ambery facet to this, nor the ambrox or pink pepper, but if you like those I think you'll like this too; I'm just not a huge fan of fragrances like Glossier You, so this was a happy surprise. Also, this perfume reminds me so much of Diptyque's Eau Duelle - it's crazy. Eau Duelle is more vanillic and sweeter, but in general the essence feels very similar. Also, when I say macerate, for Kuumba Made oils, it's really only keeping the cap slightly unscrewed for like a day or two - the jump is almost immediate. I really find that testers will often smells so much stronger than the un-opened versions, and its because of this. Overall, great longevity, impressive intensity when close, and a great price.

You could neeevverr get me to shut up about this perfume oil!! I haven't smelt many super musky perfumes that I've liked, but oh my goodness I fell in love with this as soon as I smelled it. A few people have had a hard time smelling it on me, but when you really take it in it's so beautiful. So powdery and comfy, it smells like the feeling you get from being wrapped up in a huge fuzzy blanket. This one does smell quite similar to Egyptian Musk by the same brand, but I have to say I fancy this one a bit more. This fragrance seems to have a bit more depth and uniqueness to it versus Egyptian Musk being a pretty basic musk. Still an amazing perfume as well. The sweetness mixed with the musk and woodiness of this perfume just makes it the perfect combination for me. I don't think I'll ever stop reaching for this one. Quite a few people said this as well, but I feel as if the name is quite off. Probably the last name I would've picked for this perfume, amazing nonetheless.

This is one of my favorites from Kuumba. On me, the name is totally irrelevant and unconnected. We are talking not ONE, single hint of aquatics. lol For me that's good though because if it was aquatic I'd run the other direction quite quickly. This is a powdery, comforting, cozy and predominantly sandalwood fragrance. It works Excellent for me in cool weather worn alone or layered with other fragrances. Imo this is a must have cheapie for powder lovers. It is so inexpensive but it doesn't have a cheap smell to it. Infact, it's base almost has a Guerlain feel to it. Huge love! It's super inexpensive and for a oil it is actually very long-lasting and has impressive overall performance. I recommend trying it. It's easily accessible for testing, I buy my Kuumba Oils at Whole Foods or my local Co-op. Both of which have tester bottles out.

this is such a unique, sensual, feminine and wonderful scent. it lasts forever and ever. clean and sweet & perfectly powdery. for me it feels like a skin scent, feels very close to the heart and soul, like it’s supposed to be there. i’ve never felt this intimately connected to a fragrance before and i think it’s my new signature cause this feels like ME. i wear it everywhere!! something about it is incomprehensible and unknowable, that goes far beyond the scent notes and into spiritual territory. however, the very first time i smelled it, it smelled like cigarettes, but i got over that quickly. just bought two more bottles cause i finished the first one in a month...<3 lets keep this gem hidden

10/10 GORGEOUS DELICIOUS. creamy, musky, woody, cozy, sexy. pairs gorgeously with the EOS fresh and cozy lotion (you’re welcome). great for bedtime, relaxing, or going out on the town. i feel like you could wear this anywhere at any time of day/night or year. this fragrance doesn’t strike me as watery. i’m not super well versed in different perfume notes (yet) and so maybe i just don’t know what a “watery note” smells like, but there is a freshness and a cleanness to this oil. it strikes me as more powdery than aquatic, though. not a dank, animalic musk at all. i adore water goddess and can’t wait to try more kuumba made scents!

This a new love for me. It's my first Kuumba Made and this experience compels me to try more from this line. Water Goddess is not watery but I can clearly detect waterlily which is a water floral laced into this divine powdery base. I'm not sure if this powder is coming from sandalwood, alone, or with help from some helitrope or maybe another element. I dabbed this oil only into the crooks of my arms after my shower last night and I am still get wafts of it this afternoon. I find quality in this little oil. A little goes a long way.

Smells like walking into a dry cleaners, starch spray, linen and laundry. Its like a cleaner version of Egyptian musk, with the sweetness removed and just the musk and colour white vibes left over. I'm in between loving and liking this, but as a die hard Egyptian musk lover i find myself missing the sweetness. I think they would be superb for layering to amplify them both. Safe and maybe 'boring' blind buy if you love clean musk scents.

Veryyy powdery which i personally love. It isn’t a soapy kind of powdery which i liked about it. Definitely not everyone’s taste because one of my sisters (i think is into more unisex and a lil more stronger smells from what i heard)loved this while my other sister (who is into light clean floral scents) thought this smelt very grandma. I personally liked it and lasted a decent amount of time. I do go through this bottle fast !!!!

I don't really get why it's called Water Goddess, because I don't smell anything aquatic, but it is a really pretty woody musk with some ambery notes. Having tried a few Kuumba Made scents, this one reminds me of some of my favourite aspects of Egyptian Musk (the sweet muskiness), Persian Garden (the slightly floral white amber) and Sweet Rain (the cozy woody notes). I think this may be my favourite Kuumba Made scent.

Definitely a Kuumba favourite. It is such a pleasant skin scent that is its own thing. I agree with what others have mentioned, that the name is a bit misleading. I feel only a very slight aquatic note but this is what I would imagine Aphrodite born out of sea foam would smell like. Not really water but something clean and sensual.

Love this one. Egyptian Musk is my favorite, this one is next from this line. Very similar, almost like if you added a slight Coconut scent to the EM.

Out of All of the Kuumba Oils, this is my favorite. I think I have 6 or 7. I want a gallon of it!

I have bought a ton of these fragrance oils from Kuumba Made, and Water Goddess is the one I use the most. It's primarily a musk, so you have to be in the mood for that. Along with the musk you get a very gentle woodiness and faint spiciness. Not floral, not fruity. I can't quite put a finger on the 'water' aspect of this--I mean it's hard to isolate or describe, but I do think it's there, because Water Goddess has a certain something their other musk blends don't. (I've tried Egyptian Musk, Oriental Musk, Persian Star, Enchantment, Wind Dancer.) I agree Water Goddess is very similar to Egyptian Musk, but Water Goddess is more complex and hits the spot for me. Edit on 6/26/22: I have gone off Water Goddess. No longer reach for her bc she started to smell unappetizing now. Idk what happened, except to say I have smelled a lot of other perfumes since I started wearing her. I am fickle.

I’m only getting musk in my initial wear. If I really smell it closely, I can almost detect the wood notes, but nothing aquatic. It’s still pretty and will be great for layering. It’s also going strong after 7 hours. It’s linear and kind of boring, but I can’t complain, because I’ve already received some compliments... on my fabric softener. :/ Not what I was aiming for, but I’ll take it. I’m going to revisit this one after a while; hopefully it’ll develop some more by then.

despite not really smelling like the name at all, i really like this fragrance oil! i find that its much stronger and long lasting than most of my perfume oils. every now and then i catch an aquatic note but for the most part it really just smells like a musky vanilla. the only downside is that i wish it was more of an aquatic or tropical scent

Love this, reminds me of China Musk, my mum’s signature fragrance, but I don’t wear it often- I usually only use this if I’m on holiday somewhere warm. I don’t get any aquatic notes.

To me it smells like a vanilla musk powder. I quite like the scent but I wouldn’t have called it Water Goddess.

Bought this at Whole Foods today. I initially went to buy Persian Garden but I think I’m anosmic to that one (same with Nemat Amber). I find this one just okay. It’s a soft scent but at the same time lingers in a cloud around me. When I first put it on I get hints of coconut for some reason and a play-dough scent. Not great. Then it mellows out to a white musk soapy scent, at least on my skin. I don’t get any aquatic notes. As it dries down I smell ... vanilla? It’s I think I’m going to let it sit and oxidize a bit and try it again in a few weeks.

I don't really get the aquatic or fresh notes, it definitely leans powdery, warm and spicy on me. I love Egyptian Musk, and this ones feels less skin-like to me, and more on the powdery side of the musk spectrum. I felt a little misled by the name, to be honest. I might call it Wood Nymph or something, rather than Water Goddess, to keep it in the magical ladies family.

This scent feels misnamed to me. I was expecting something light, fresh, and aquatic, but what I got was that fluffy, powdery, musky base that’s found in so many of Kuumba’s fragrances. While I don’t hate it blended with other notes, this scent isn’t my favorite when it’s on its own. As an aside, I didn’t notice aquatic notes on my skin (I have since scrubbed it off), but I am picking up on some saltiness from what’s rubbed off on my clothes. So, I guess there’s some aquatic quality here, but it reads more “marine” because of that saltiness.

This brand just doesn't work on my skin. This smells like a headshop to me. Specifically 1 incense stick I used to buy which I can't remember the name of. It literally smells like that to an exact measure. Other than the nostalgic aspect of the oil, I really don't like this. While it has a wet vibe to it, its primarily a musk. Just not for me. 4/10

You know the smell that hits you when you walk into a public restroom right after its been wiped down? The smell of cheap cleaning products and toilet water? Yeah, that's this. This is awful. Ugh

I just bought this today and have only worn it once. I’m aware that these (and other oil rollers) can really change from wear to wear. I bought this because sniffing it from the bottle in store, it smelled a little bit vanilla/almond, but not too sweet or thick. A little floral. I liked it a lot. I put it on both wrists. After getting home and watching a movie, it started to overwhelm me. A little too soapy? Sandalwood? I didn’t realize sandalwood was in the notes or I wouldn’t have purchased as I’m not a fan. I’m going to let it sit for a few days and try again, with a much lighter application. Something about it makes me still have hope that I’ll like it UPDATE: YEARS LATER This has sat in my cupboard for ages and I decided to give it another try. So far the first hour was nice, but a little too strong. Too heady. Just not really me. Definitely mature, classy, could border on “old lady” but idk. After the first hour irs clean, soapy, nice, still not really me. If it stays like this it could be in every day wear. But I assume it will continue to develop as these oils have usually been roller coasters for me

Very nice, I agree with the reviews that this is kind of vanilla, however I don't think there's actual vanilla here. It gives a warm feeling without it being vanilla. Perfect for those of us sick of smelling vanilla everywhere! I used to own Vanilla Musk by Nemat but sold it cause it was 1. too sweet, and 2. I associated it with bad memories. This is a nice alternative for fall/winter. It's warm but fresh with a slight petrichor scent. Very nostalgic. Edit: to address the comments below saying they don't see any connection to water: in my opinion there don't need to be obvious aquatic notes in this for it to be reminiscent of water. Pure water (not sea water) doesn't have a scent, it's just clear and clean so it can remind me of different things/ places. With this one, I imagine a water fairy (like the one from Tinkerbell) resting on a low hanging tree branch above a river, drying off under warm sun after her swim. The scent of humid air, clean skin and warm damp wood is what this reminds me of.

My husband’s nose has gotten really good and when he smelled this on my skin without any context he said “it smells like Egyptian musk with sunscreen” VERY GOOD, HONEY. This is a signature worthy scent. Clean, musky, powdery, but with a salty essence. It’s also a bit sweet but in a nutty way. The dry down has more sandalwood with a slight bite. Even with the salty sweetness, it can still read as elevated (cashmere quality) Absolutely love it, works in any season, any occasion, and pairs well with most fragrances. My fav combo is spraying glossier you on my clothing, and applying this to pulse points.

If you're looking for a beast mode clean girl scent, this perfume oil is a great contender. I love that the scent has this musky, clean, second-skin scent profile, and I was even more surprised that it lasted several hours on my skin! The scent is still quite linear but the longevity is well worth the price! Definitely apply it lightly because the scent does not go away for awhile!

I don't get any aquatic in this fragrance. It's a skin scent with a touch of powder and a dash of play doh. Maybe like a cousin of Egyptian Goddess without the sandalwood and with some added Play-Doh. I like it. It feels comforting especially at night.

10/10 it's clean it's refreshing floral but not too overwhelming plus a little goes a longgggg way I took a shower and I could still smell it on my wrist it smells very soft though later on and it starts to take on a skin Musk after 10 -14 hrs

Clean, sweet musk with a hint of animality. Not fresh nor an aquatic on my skin. Seemed to disappear quickly but then I could smell it on my clothes all day. Ver inoffensive and gentle.

Sampled this today thinking it would be a clean smell and it's actually a really good Amber musk (to my nose). Keep getting whifts and it's good!
