Confit de Rose

Once again, Terri Bozzo has really created something special (and sweet!) in Confit de Rose, which I believe translated to "candied rose" and that's a very accurate description of it. It consists heavily of rose but perhaps even more heavily of the gourmand elements---really, what smells to me like strawberry shortcake. In the notes, it's red berries, graham cracker, and even a hint of plum that account for this, to my nose. I don't detect the chocolate note specifically but it's plausible that it could just be more subdued under the other notes. Performance is strong, and I'd characterize it as unisex and year-round wearable, though I'd probably use this more casually than formally. I'm not sure why this has such a mixed reception but I imagine it could be alienating to those who don't like rose or sweet scents. As I love both, this is a neat and innovative creation, a departure from most "jammy rose" fragrances that we've seen a fair amount of. And at $52 for 60ml, this is a steal like most of Terri Bozzo's line. Very impressive, and one I'll be buying a bottle of, for sure! I'd recommend trying it at least, as the potential upside is high. 8 out of 10

For me,this is the most beautiful of Terri's creations. Rose is a challenging note for me, so my first impression of this scent was "hmmm, I'm not sure about that one." After reading several reviews and chatting to my friend about it, I decided that I needed to give it a try. On my skin, the opening is phenomenal! It is a yummy mix of graham cracker with a deep dark bitter cocoa accord. The rose note begins to bloom from the opening. This rose is a very interesting old, organic, earthy smelling rose. The dry down becomes a quite lovely earthy dried rose, mixed with delicious ripe sweet fruit & berries. The dry down reminds me of stepping inside an old vintage store with fragrant potpouri and dusty vintage books. It is a familiar & comforting scent. Really, it is just lovely.

Today my glorious, gorgeous scent of the day is Kyse Confit de Rose.... A lovely gourmand rose that hits all the right notes--it's comforting yet alluring. It opens with a buttery cookie note that makes my mouth water, then a blast of tart berries, creamy whipped cream, a hint of rich chocolate and so much sweet rose. I really think anyone could wear this, if you're a fan of gourmands. The rose is not green, bitter, nor soapy---just a sweet uncomplicated warm rose. ♥ Heavenly. I don't get the votes that compare it to Rose Jam, as it's far more gourmand and less soapy than Rose Jam can be (don't get me wrong, I love them both---but they are 2 different animals). So affordable, and worth picking up!

The initial opening is almost that of a floral, fruity sugar cookie but dries down to a complex barley wine that maintains the floral touch of rose.The the chocolate, plumb and berries aren't independently noticeable, but add up to produce that barely wine accord and the rose permeates throughout with a lightly lactonic, unfocused whipped cream wafting faintly in the background. A wonderfully playful gormond composition that transitions into its prime in the dry-down. Always give KYSE perfume a maceration time of at least a month since they make the perfumes to order. I like waiting at least two months for the best effect.

I typically cannot wear most rose scents. My skin amplifies them and I end of up smelling like a funeral parlor. It isn't pretty. But this!! Holy moly!! This smells like popcorn and chocolate and roses on my skin. Sweet, fresh roses-not the dried dusty kind. The first thing I smell on me is all popcorn-which I am guessing is the graham cracker-followed by this delicious chocolate. Last up is the sweet rose. Together it is one of the sweetest, most delicious rose scents I have ever encountered! It smells amazingly edible and I could still get chocolate rose scented whiffs through out most of the day. Love this one!

This is an odd one, alright, but nice! Like everything I've tested from this line so far, Confit de Rose has a definite homemade quality to it, which isn't necessarily a bad thing: what it lacks in complexity or sophistication, it more than makes up for in originality, strength and just sheer edible delight. It's a pure blast of buttery cookies with dark chocolate and delicious rosy jam, more like stepping into a dessert workshop than putting on a perfume, but sometimes that can be just what the doctor ordered...I've been wearing it around the house a lot this winter.

Not sure why so many bad reviews, I definitely smell roses and the scent is lasting. My other favorite rose scent is roses berberanza by lancome. I've tried most all of the perfumes from Kyse (I wish the company had another name other than Kyse, It sounds off and I never remember it). But If you can get past the silly French names, try Frollino Lavanda, Oui Plus, SÉRÉNADE AUX FRAISES, and COCCO TIARE. Put some clear tape over the label as soon as you receive it because these labels come off easily. ------------------------------

Fragrance notes: Rose Absolute-Morocco, plum, red berries, creamy notes, a tiny bit of cocoa, and graham cracker. A delicious jammy, berry rose on top of graham crackers. It's that rose you get in a Montale, like Intense Cafe (just the rose vibe, this isn't a dupe). There are some roses I just can't wear but this one is dark and deep, with a tiny bit of green. The sweetness of the berry jam livens it up a bit, makes it edible. And the cookies. Need I go on?

Jammy Rose and Chocolate like a Turkish Delight candy bar. I put this on at 750am and it is now 630pm and i can still smell it vibrantly. Kyse does gourmands very well. I can definitely say this does not smell like Lush Rose Jam or Montale Dark Purple - but it does have components that may remind someone of these fragrances. This smells exactly like Rose & DARK Chocolate. A wearable scent that creates happiness. FA LA LA LA LA LAAAAAAA

CdF you odd little thing. It opens strong with a graham cracker and a buttery/nutty note. The berries and plum start to seep through. Im not sure if I like the odd opening but give it time to do its thing.I think im having a chemistry issue with this one, which makes sense as the reviews here are pretty varied. Ill have to give this one multiple wearings to get a handle on it.

Wow! I am getting a totally different experience with this beautiful rose scent. I dabbed a generous amount on my wrist and I am intoxicated by this chocolate rose smell emanating from my wrist. The chocolate note is strong in the beginning but it dissipated within a few minutes and the sweet, nutty rose scent remained. It's gorgeous!

Confit de Rose: This may be one of the most diabolical, dangerously delicious roses out there. Yes, that is a warning to those of you who typically go, "Ew...rose!" This isn't your typical rose...it's earthy, woody, thorny, dense, spicy, and worthy of any collection. Why don't I have this yet, I keep asking myself???

Hated it at first, but I kept testing and I've grown to love it and now I can't stop thinking about it. I can't wait until the Kyse shop re-opens as I plan to get a 30 ml probably. Just yummy and pretty at the same time. It is a turkish delight type rose, so if you don't like those already, then avoid.

I spilled a little of this and used a napkin to wipe it up and threw it in the garbage in my room. My entire garbage smells delightful. I should not like sniffing my garbage. I can smell it from across the room!

I have searched and searched for the "right" rose perfume. There is always a harsh or sharp note in most I try. That or a soapy, "vintage & mature" smell to them. I received several samples from Terri with a hand written note and an email from her. I was looking for beautiful, delicious gourmand fragrances at the time and what I found with Kyse Confit De Rose was not only a scent that satisfied my sweet tooth for a great gourmand but also allowed me to find the absolute PERFECT rose. This offering is deep and a bit darker. Sweet and jammy. For my nose it is truly perfection. Even after the sample was gone I would sniff the bottle until I could get a larger bottle. That's how much I adore this! Terri's customer service makes it all the sweeter. I don't think there is anyone out there that could deny how amazing and personal her attention to her customers is. Thank you Terri for all you do. I'm looking forward to trying many more!

This opens with a very strange sour musty basement smell but wait 10 minutes and it becomes a glorious rose jam spread on a graham cracker (for those in the UK, this is equivalent to a digestive biscuit). It is reminiscent to me of 'Jammy Dodgers' biscuits and is the jammy gourmand rose scent that I have been looking for. What a gem. It's longevity is good at 8+ hours and sillage is excellent. Kyse ship to the UK at a very reasonable cost and they also sent me 2 samples of other scents from their line with my order.

This has officially been on my want list for a long time now, and I still need to get myself a full bottle. In the sample I had, I could smell this without even opening it. On me, Confit de Rose has a warm nutty smell when sprayed once on my chest and lasts for hours. If I spray a little more, I get the bitter dark chocolate with graham cracker, which then fades to the same nutty smell over the course of a few hours. I haven't picked up on any rose in this even though I've worn this many times, but maybe that's just my nose. Not sure about others, but this lasts all day to the next on me. Depending on how much you decide to spray, you'll get a lovely nutty scent or a bold, rich, dark chocolate scent. This is definitely not blind-buy material.

I am struggling to enjoy Kyse scents, but for some reason this polarizing scent seems to be one of the better scents on my skin. At least it doesn't give me a raging headache like all the others. The note pyramid listed here in Fragrantica is whack. It doesn't represent what the perfume smells like AT ALL. I agree with what others are saying here about this scent; that it is a weird mashup of boiled fruits, red wine, apple cinnamon potpourri and idk maybe some sort of mulled wine drink. But rose confit, no way. They should rename this perfume Potpourri Pie. I don't dislike the scent but I think it sort of lacks clear direction and is sort of all over the place. Also it smells nothing like Lush Rose Jam, if you're here because you have heard that comparison. I don't even get rose. I get spicy apple pie and potpourri. Overall the scent is okay but I wouldn't probably purchase it because there are other winter time type scents I like a lot better.

To my nose, this doesn‘t smell like the rose jam many reviewers mentioned at all. Neither like the Lush product line, nor like the real spread that I love to eat. The opening is very overwhelming and smells kind of messy and homemade, a thing that I noticed in some other Kyse fragrances, too. I would describe it as a mixture of After Eight chocolates, sweet red wine of the cheaper kind, boiled prunes and rose oil. It‘s just too much, boozy, minty, soapy, sweet, dark, overwhelming. When it dries down it becomes more harmonic and creamy, but unfortunately at this stage it reminds me of a chocolate scented candle with a little rose and wine. More like light milk chocolate for kids than something with a high cocoa content, and I enjoy the latter much more in fragrances. Chocolate, fruits and roses are a dream fragrance combination to me, but I honestly just don‘t think they‘re well blended here.

Not plums, but prunes and cranberries.. The sourness that is so characteristic for rose scents creates with the prune combo also something that reminds me on red/black grapes. Confit de Rose ceirtainly is creamy, but I also get whiffs of something spicy, like cinnamon. Actually the whole composition reminds me somehow on some notes that I got from Amouage Memoir Woman - deep, dark fruity.. but the cream, lack of spices (except cinnamon) and the sour note of the rose prevents further similarities. The rose, especially in the opening feels more dry and dusty than dewy to me, almost like smelling tea. In the end it gets less dusty, brighter and more fruity fresh. Chocolate.. where?

I've enjoyed Kyse and love rose gourmands but something about this is really kind of gross to me. My husband also found this disgusting (I hate to use that term but there's something very abrasive here). There is an almost sour quality about it, like a dessert that has gone bad. I don't have any issues with the Kyse graham cracker note, I love and own Oui Plus!, and I do get a bit of that here, but that is the only note I enjoy. I will say this has great longevity and is very strong and intense. I had seen this likened to Solstice Scent's Rose Mallow Cream, and the two are nothing alike. I much prefer Rose Mallow.

I ordered the whole sample set as the price is very good and I was intrigued having read about this particular range of fragrances. When my sample pack arrived I swear that all I could smell was basmati rice. The whole range of perfumes smelled like sweet basmati rice and the fragrance overwhelmed my room and literally made me throw up. Never before has that ever happened with a perfume. I had to throw the whole lot in the garbage outside, I couldn't even leave this in my house. Perhaps the perfumes had 'turned', I don't know, but along with 'Lush' perfumes, this house is a no no for me.

This was not at all what I expected, even though all the notes are there. The dark chocolate is bitter and present at all times, as well as Terri's signature wheat like graham cracker note in the base. And of course, the rose is very prominent, unfortunately, as it's my least favourite part of this perfume. It's very tangy, and reminiscent of cranberry juice, and a stuffy, dusty quality about it, making it way too intense for me. The concept is great but the result was not as expected, like I feel about Lush Rose Jam (they only share that quality). I recommend Terri's gourmands instead.

I bought a sample first and then a full bottle, 3-4 years apart. The sample was everything I expected, full delicious jammy rose. The scent in the full bottle however only showed some hints at first of what was supposed to be and then went bad quickly. Now all that is left is a stale wine / old barn and corn smell which is pretty horrible. I'm not sure whether the fault lies in a different bad batch, or the scent turning quickly, or within me, maybe my nose skin and brain refuse to render it as it once did. Whatever it is, it's a pity.

There is a beautiful part of this fragrance - a creamy, jammy rose - but it's unfortunately shrouded with the unmistakably clear note of corn tortilla chips. I just read other reviews and saw some are saying similar things (beer/barley, corn) - I'm not sure what it is that's causing that for this particular blend. I love Kyse - there are some especially gorgeous and unique fragrances from this house, but this wasn't a love for me. I would say this is best to try a sample of, to see how your nose likes it or not!

I must be the odd one out because this smells so sour to me...I detect no sweetness. I can smell hints of rose,even chocolate...but I think the berry and plum notes give this quite a sour undertone. Someone else mentioned popcorn...I get that as well. It also surprises me that there are no boozy notes because I get that too. I would have blind bought this on notes alone and I am so glad I didn't. I don't like this scent.

I must be the only person not absolutely in love with this. For some reason, the graham cracker note is just way too strong to me.. it's all I can smell. No chocolate or rose here, just stale crackers. A big bummer and probably due more to my nose than anything else.

This is a weird jammy rose, very foodie and not fresh smelling. Loads of Graham cracker.

I thought this was going to be a love for me when I saw the note breakdown. Thankfully I didn't blind buy it and got a sample instead. When I opened the little cap, my nose was assaulted with the scent of stale beer and roses. I can't see how these notes combine to smell like beer, but to my nose they do. As it dries on my skin the beer fades but never goes away completely. The rose becomes more dominant, supported by the dark fruits with the chocolate far in the background. The scent is more pleasant closer to the skin. I smell the rotten beer much more in the sillage. I tried my sample a few times, first when I got it many months ago and was repulsed by the opening. I decided to let it sit for a while and it has not improved at all. The performance is pretty solid. It is very strong and projects beyond arms length for the first couple hours. As it settles on the skin the projection is more moderate. The longervity is good, but not amazing. It lasts 6-8 hours on my skin. Confit de Rose smells like a unisex rose to me. It is rich and dark and if it was more boozy and less rotten and fermented, it could be a sexy cooler weather nighttime scent. I have a few Kyse fragrances and they are wonderful gourmands. In Confit de Rose I was hoping for a rich, dark, jammy rose instead I smell like the morning after a night of bad decisions.

What is happening Kyse? Confit de Rose is the third fragrance I have tried from Kyse and I cannot get around the corn chips smell. Is there rose in there as well? for sure. Is there whipped cream? maybe? I'm so confused by these scent profiles and honestly feel like I'm being gaslit by this fragrance house. Eat some tortilla chips in your rose garden and you'll have the same experience.

I’m sorry but this is gross. Like rotten roses (if there is such a thing) in rotten milk. It doesn’t improve in the air or upon skin. Sample this one if you must, but it is nasty.

Finally, a rose I can wear that isn't a rose/patch combo! This smells like Turkish delight coated in silky chocolate. I was in Turkey a few years ago and it's common custom to share some tea with someone you've done business with. I bought a bracelet and the jeweller brought out a pot of rich Turkish tea in the most beautiful little glasses. He looked at me and said "Hungry?" and before I could answer, a shop assistant brought over a box of Turkish delight that they also sold at the counter (don't ask, Turkey is weird and wonderful like that). The jeweller shook his head and pointed to the back room. He told me he wouldn't serve me tourist food. Probably a sales gimmick, but ok. The shop assistant re-appeared with a tray that I smelled before I saw. The aroma of the sweetest rose filled my nostrils and I'm pretty sure I started salivating. I was instantly transported back to reading The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe for the first time, when Edmond gets Turkish Delight from the Snow Queen. This perfume smells exactly like that. It evokes a memory of a time a scent evoked another memory. I absolutely love it. I find it fairly linear (which I'm fine with) and one little drop seems to last forever. Definitely full bottle worthy for me, it's magical.

I almost went for a full bottle right away and I'm glad that I didn't. I've only worn it twice, but both times, my skin favors the dark chocolate note and it reads very pungent, bitter, and earthy. It smells more like a rum filled truffle or antiseptic herbal infusion in alcohol than a true chocolate. I can't distinguish the plum, so I can only imagine this is what gives it an overripe pungency. This is followed up by a very tart berry that feels acrid and not the slightest bit sweet, reminiscent of a cranberry. Then I smell a pleasant softly sweet whipped cream note trailed by the SLIGHTEST blink of rose. If smelling salts can revive the faint, this dark chocolate note can revive the dead. As it dries down, that rummy chocolate tames itself a bit and I smell a honey graham cracker at last, the rose goes from an inner ear hum to a pleasant indoor-voice melody, and whole thing gains just a little more sweetness and brightness. This probably smells amazing start to finish on someone that has skin that plays well with berries. They turn sour or rancid on my skin unfortunately, and I think that dampens the journey this perfume takes me on. It's dynamic, highly imaginative, and was definitely worth sampling.

It's a beautiful perfume by Terri. The rose in this one is so different. It's sweet and mysterious, but not cloying. The whipped cream and red berries play a peekaboo sort of game with the rose being the centre of the attention. I didn't get the chocolate note that so many people here are talking about. The sillage and longevity are moderate. I sprayed it on generously to notice it, but it stayed for a whole day and I could still get some rosy whiffs while going to sleep. It managed to give me a retreat into a world of roses and berries in the blistering heat of Mumbai. Love it! It also reminds me of gulkand, a sweet preserve of candied rose petals that my mom used to make when I was a kid. It's got that beautiful fragrance and I love the fact that it reminds me of a beautiful and somewhat forgotten part of my childhood.

Well, this was weird. I've never had this problem before. I don't know what it is, but this perfume smells a little like roses and also, troublingly, stale urine. Never have I encountered this issue before. I love Kyse perfumes, and have several, but this one is def not for me. My boyfriend picked up on it too. I'm assuming we're anomalies because this one is a favorite of many, but I just can't do it. I picked up the 30 ml blindly (I know, I know), and it is officially perfuma non grata in my collection. If interested, hit me up. I'm willing to trade for another Kyse or other Indie perfumer. Phew.

This to me smells like rose marmalade & chocolate-covered graham crackers. I get the non-sweet edible bready/wheat quality of the graham cracker, with a bit of powdered sugar, dark chocolate, a syrupy rose accord and in the background a very discreet lactonic sourness. It’s extremely edible! I find it beautiful and very unique. This uniqueness as I understand from the other comments may be off-putting for some people but not for me. 🌹🍪🧈

At first smell, my brain was doing flip-flops trying to understand the delightful fragrance. The rose is very beautiful. At its most potent, there is a cedar-like quality. However, that quickly dries down, revealing the graham-cracker berry/plum whipped-cream concoction. And than those smells ease off allowing you to smell the rose again. Terri is crazy!

Terri’s Confit de Rose smells like the most delicious rose jam ever! I can pick up on the chocolate note and something that reminds me a little of graham crackers, yum! Ever since I smelled it I have been obsessing over this sweet rosy jelly heaven and got myself a full bottle to enjoy. I absolutely love it!

80% rose jam, 20% oui plus, not that I'm complaining. That sweetened jammy berry rose, yummy buttery crispy graham cracker with a touch of creamy sweet and chocolate. Rose jam becomes bff's with smores. Best spin of something like rose jam I've smelt. Very, very nice.

I wish I got a gourmand Rose from this but all I get is apple cinnamon potpourri :(
