Looking For Langston

I've only been wearing this for a few days (tester decant) so take this review with a grain of salt. I loveeeeee how this scent smells. I get a lot of leather and spice-y alcohol (like a high-end and comforting bourbon or dark liquor). Normally I don't like leather notes, as it feels too synthetic and new, like car upholstery or a belt from Macy's. However, this leather is really nice and plays perfectly with the spicy notes. This is a lived-in leather chair, with subtle cracks, sun-bleached spots, cat scratches, and indents from years of use. Its a leather that's so familiar, nostalgic, warm, and inviting. It has honestly made me re-think whether I like leather or not, its that damn good. As it dries down, the leather smooths out a lot more into the spice-y alcohol, and the spice becomes more sweet and smooth as well. Sweet in a whiskey-neat sort of way. I think the sweetness also comes from the really subtle floral notes. I also get a really slight skin-sweetness, I think from the musk. It's very nice and nothing like BO, if skin-scent makes you worried. Just think sweet, clean skin. Bad news is, this thing has terrible longevity. I think its the only thing that's making me apprehensive about buying a bottle. Normally I only like scents with huge sillage, but I was willing to look over this one's intimate projection because the smell is THAT good. I'm constantly smelling my wrists when I wear this. However, I just can't justify the $160 for something that I can barely smell after 4 hours. If this lasted longer and projected more I'd give my life saving to Folie. Also the bottles are gorgeous!
