Seek

The second expression from LFaP's little experiment: giving the same inspiration to two different perfumers and seeing what each comes up with. In this case, the inspiration being Andre Aciman's "Find Me" (the sequel to "Call Me By Your Name") For version #2, we get David Chieze, the partner of Mark Buxton who did version #1. This is a more overtly "sexy" composition. The lily here drifts in through a window, mingling with the aroma of bedsheets and a very powdery musk (I believe that's the "skin" scent) with a noticeable cumin note. The tobacco and coffee are rumors... there if you look for them, but I certainly don't pick them out. There's a sleeping-in-with-your-partner with the windows open vibe here. It's like a lazy, spring morning haze that drifts with you throughout the day. Good all-season musk, though powdery notes almost never work on me so it won't stay in my wardrobe, as they're very forward here. For those who dig that, you will probably dig this.

Very vintage Chanel top notes, mysterious, lily-of-the-valley, a little dirty and boozy. What follows is a very bitter almond, an amaretto veil, both warm and smooth, the gentle caress of a hand, the warmth of a sweaty palm. The ginger is there, somewhere; the coffee is more hidden, the linen yes, the tobacco, smells of intimate spaces. The evolution is very complex, very luxurious, reminding me a lot of early Chris Rusak (you can't really put into words all the details of what you smell, while at the same time everything is neatly in its place) yet simultaneously delicate, versatile, indulgent. It's a journey back in time, a luxury time capsule apartment in Paris in the '80s; moldings on the ceiling, noble materials, low lighting and great silence.

I wore this scent for the first time today. Almost immediately upon entering the cafe the woman at the register asked me what fragrance I was wearing, remarking that it smelled like baby powder. At first I thought this was odd, but quickly realized she wasn't entirely off. Seek starts off with notes of candied ginger and tobacco, gently blending into the warmth of your skin with a milky, peppery, finish. This scents ability to meld with the natural musk of the skin give it a organic, sensual quality–there are no artificial, flowery notes that overwhelm me; you can sleep in this scent. Visuals that come to mind when wearing this fragrance: Cups of milky, rooibos tea on a red coffee table. The spicy, damp taste of cigarette that lingers after a kiss.
