Impatiente Eau de Parfum

SUMMARY: 8/10 Fresh grassy/natural citrus fragrance that dries down to a subtlety sweet, slightly floral vetiver. Respectable but modest performance. Not a beginner friendly/ blind buy fragrance. RAMBLING THOUGHTS: Impatiente reminds me a lot of Terre d'Hermes, but only in concept. Where as Terre d'Hermes smells while walking through an orange orchard while soaked in the fresh juice of oranges... The opening of Impatiente is more like holding a freshly cut lemon, or maybe grapefruit, while out in a grassy spring time field, with that fresh but slightly bitter smell of grass and blooming flowers mixing with the bitter sweet smell of the citrus. I usually don’t get so “poetic” with my reviews, but it is otherwise hard to convey how natural and “outdoorsie” Impatiente smells, capturing not just the fresh and floral aspects of spring, but also the sharp and bitter notes from the grasses and the leaves. At least in the opening (which lasts a while)... because another big difference from Terre d'Hermes is that Impatiente evolves quite a bit as it dries down, with the citruses and bitter grasses giving way to a base that retains a subtle sweetness, but is more floral and woodsy. The citrus and grass is still there, but much less “in your face”. For me the dry down is the best part, but it takes a while to get there, particularly in hot weather. Performance on Impatiente is respectable. People will definitely notice the fragrance in the first hour or so, but becomes increasingly modest after that. While this is a well made, natural fragrance that won’t offend anyone, I don’t recommend blind buying it, or adding it to your collection too early. It is very far removed from the typical “blues” and “freshies”.

Very nice, clean, green but fresh, bracing, classical, natural-smelling spring/summer daytime scent, neither overly complicated nor thinly simplistic. It does make me think of tart lemon or lime sherbet boiled sugar sweets. (I don't think I've seen a grapefruit version of those.) Accordingly it does also share some basic characteristics with any number of tart, powdery sherbet lemon fragrances of the kind that used to be popular with sporty or pretend-sporty young men a few decades ago. There is more going on here, though, without very much of the powder. The fragrance smells a little like sucking on a lovely sherbet lemon just downwind of a marigold bush on a breezy, sunny summer day. There are probably bees and butterflies nearby. It's not as overtly floral as all that may make it sound, as the scent of marigolds, or whatever I'm smelling foremost here aside from the citrus, has green and more or less resinous aspects. I daresay the vetiver plays a significant part in all this--the overall effect is not the least soapy I've smelt--but this is not vetifer of the (dirty) kind that my nose is better at picking out. Anyway, this is very well blended, with no one ingredient hogging the limelight or grapefruit light. Performance is understandably modest, but definitely adequate. The longevity is actually quite good but is not paired with any bombastic projection. This is the sort of fragrance that will come back in waves now and then, to let you know that it has not faded out.

Its loveley. Marigolds and Citrus. They blend well and feel like one scent it takes a little discerning to pick up on both notes but theyre there. I definatley have a soft spot for this since marigolds grow wild in the parts of mexico my grandparents are from and they also have citrus orchards so it was familiar in that regard since both plants are very fragrant. Good Silage and longevity.

WoW ! I love this vetiver fragrance. It's fresh and has a shiny silver note due to the grapefruit. I would say it's 50%-50% grapefruit and vetiver. I really nice balance. I don't get any marigold. I great daytime fragrance. Excellent sillage and long lasting. Niche quality.

Quick first impression. A very green grapefruit blast, bright and sour, in the opening. A soft floral, blossom note eases in, delicate and clean, and steers the fragrance through its middle phase. The Vetiver is less obvious, until the dry down, just underpinning the scent rather than pushing forwards. It's not the typical citrus/vetiver style that I'd imagined (not sharp or bitter like Terre d'Hermes or Guerlain L'eau Boisee), overall it has a much more floral feel, and paints in vibrant colours. The overall vibe of the scent reminds me of Bal d'Afrique - fruity, very refreshing, cologne-like, cheerful and optimistic. I have two from La Manufacture now, and I would buy more! They're very well made and on the grey market offer incredible value. Update - I am burning through this without even trying; it's so clean and easy to wear. Update 2 - I wish it would retain more of the sharpness it had in the opening. It becomes a very rounded marigold scent after 20 minutes. Still beautiful, and still fitting of the description "colourful".
