No Sport

Very few reviews for this one so here are my 5 cents. I find No Sport to be unique, edgy and extremely well done. It is an amazing scent that gets little to no recognition or credit (=underhyped). It is one of these scents that have an identity all their own but still manages to be easy to wear and enjoy. A recommended try as far as I am concerned and for those that enjoy it an instant love.

NO SPORT is such a mellow aromatic scent! It opens with loads of flowers on a very green, herbal base which at first appears sharp, but soon settles to a very pleasant, smooth and crisp composition. I cannot imagine a person who would find this bad or not well done - NO SPORT is a crowd pleaser for sure. The drydown gets a bit on the weird side, at least for me. It gets sweeter as the tobacco dominates the ending phase of the scent yet I finally get geranium. As a result I get a bit of urine vibe, but I can't say it's unpleasant, it just makes NO SPORT a bit more wild, a bit further from the safe vibe it was giving all the way until the last phase (for me it was some 5 hours in). Perfectly unisex, though might appeal more to the male crowd due to it's slightly masculine vibe. It feels like a very modern interpretation on old school aromatics, I find this very, very easy to enjoy! Lasted for good 7 hours, but was close to skin.

Very pleasant. Lots of hay with a twist of rose, patch and geranium. Quite a simple scent. There is quite a bit of patch in this. It's a toss up between the hay and patch note as to who dominates overall. I can barely detect the tobacco which is surprising. The geranium is quite low key and adds necessary interest. The rose is definitely present. Definitely unisex. Soft and warm enough for a woman to feel comfortable wearing. A nice scent for a spring day. Casual wear.

I don't have anything that smells remotely like No Sport, and despite the note pyramid it's far from your standard rose/patchouli fragrance, which I generally despise and would want nothing to do with. This is aromatic in an airy, crisper sense, lead more so by a spicy-sweet geranium and damp hay combination than rose itself. Rose it at the heart, red, soft and sweet but it's fairly quiet, and the fragrance radiates outward, more about what's floating around the edges than at the center. There's something almost edible about this, like a cold spicy candy or gum. It's kind of mouthwatering, but at the same time very much a fragrance to be worn, not eaten. The patchouli is of the clean, earthy variety. I think what I like most about this are these elements here: It's spicy, but in a cold and aromatic way, with a cool affect. It's also sweet but in an atypical style--relying on geranium, patchouli and almond instead of your standard cinnamons and vanillas. Finally, it's unique, but not odd or off-putting. It will come across as intriguing, but not disturbing. The ingredients have a nice quality. While it's a reserved scent, the ingredients don't feel insubstantial or thin. Instead they're somewhat understated, while coming across smooth and confident. I find the same quality in Annees Folles, so it could be something inherent to La Parfumerie Moderne, an understated quality, quiet but complete. No Sport has signature scent potential due to its difference and a certain ease with which it wears. In general it seems versatile as far as the situation, and well-suited for any time of the year, though I think it would probably shine most in the spring. Anyway, I'm glad to have been recommended this and in turn do the same. The only reason I'm not recommending it as a blind buy is because it's on the quieter side. Those expecting something bigger and bolder may be disappointed. But still, I can't imagine anyone disliking the way this smells. It smells so good, and is a peculiar little departure from most of what's out there. Thumbs up. Final note: The fragrance name, "No Sport" is based on a famous quip from Winston Churchill. When asked what he attributed to his long life he responded, "Absolutely no sports, just whiskey and cigars." Whether or not its creators also gave it this name as a way to juxtapose it against the recent inundation of redundant "sports fragrances" is not certain,though it would definitely seem fitting

No Sport is a basic rose-patchouli concoction with a facelift that includes a note of hay. The rose-patchouli blend is of the fresher variety, comparable to compositions like Eau de Protection. There is also a nice dose of geranium in the mix. No Sport is initially floral with a hint of aromatics, before the patchouli takes shape. It is clean and brisk, with a cool aura. I get none of the tobacco, while the hay lends a dry, grassy and green aspect. While No Sport is quite engaging for the first hour, it comes across as possessing an insubstantial dry down as the composition seems to unravel a bit. Additionally, it exhibits average duration on skin, but is quite muted beyond the first couple of hours. No Sport is eventually disappointing, especially considering the perfumer, the fanfare, and the market segment that La Parfumerie Moderne appears to cater to. It is categorised as unisex, but there is a vague metallic harshness initially (perhaps the geranium) that might be unattractive to discerning women. Also, quality wise it appears to be half a notch below Cuir X. Anyone contemplating No Sport is strongly recommended Eau de Protection / Rossy de Palma. The Etat Libre d'Orange offering is a fresh rose-patchouli with a dose of geranium, but is substantial, interesting, engaging and eventually compelling. 2.5/5 (neutral)

Well... it's okay to have a brand that aren't willing to put something bold, bizarre, or even something new & intends to make something quite safe so everyone would wear. i personally see this approach as commercial even though it uses the most superior quality oils that is brought from a place that no one could go to etc.. it remains SAFE and "safe" means it is something that has been used before so everyone got used to it and they have no problem wearing it cause somebody wore it before. It's in short a rose patchouli geranium blend with a slight tobacco and hint of almonds which added the artificial flavor to it. I do even sense saffron sharp effect and i guess it's the hay. La Parfumerie Moderne is a standard house after all, and honestly i haven't had any high hopes other than wanting to fulfill my curiosity.

Having a soft spot for geranium focused perfume and respect and interest in Corticchiato's idiosyncratic work made an easy bait for No Sport, which is a brilliant release that captures ideas of vegetal floral humidity in a novel way - with its very soft and lightweight arrangement of components this inhabits a singular place. If i'd have to place in relation to other scents, i can see this in line with MPG's Jardin Du Nil as much as with Chanel No.18 EdT, yet totally different. Extremely superb. What I don't understand is the awfully heavy lid of the bottle, which weights with its 106 gram more than a third of the rest. What an oddity on an otherwise nice packaging. La Parfumerie Moderne might want to consider here a closer move forward to Modernity.

Here we are in the niche perfumery sector. A perfume with a simple yet sophisticated and charming olfactory pyramid. The rose is the absolute presence of this mix. Combined with patchouli and vetiver it becomes fresher, geranium adds a pinch of spicy. I love this pleasant and extremely feminine fragrance.
