Tiglio Mirabilis

Oh Gods helps us, this is irresistible! Finally a tilleul/tiglio/linden blossom (not lime blossom) based scent, almost pure in its character! I am only using a sample so I can not yet leave a proper review, for now I can only say that this is a tilleul that starts fresh and then gets full on honeyed, very true to the natural one. I am obsessed with tilleul, all my favorites get discontinued (L'Artisan did this two times already 😭 and so did Jo Malone), the others I tried did not deliver or they had the lime linden blossom falsely reported as just linden blossom. I live near by losts and lots of chestnut trees, acacia trees (black locoust), tilleul trees and broom! If I move for about twenty minutes from my home then I find mimosa and cherry trees. The scent on the early mornings is paradise, Eden garden style, but the tilleul is my favorite. I find its blossoms sweet, airy and seductive, at tracts a little animalic in their honeyed facet but this Laboratorio Olfattivo remains quite clean. What is more subtly sensual then to enter a room and leave behind a trail of pure linden blossoms? I am bewitched by their essence, there is not only sensuality in them but peace and fragility, and personally less sadness then mimosa, I find. Afterall the tea made with its flowers is said to be an anti depressant with anxiolytics properties, they are often refered to as "king's nectar" for its many properties and they have a rich history, rapresenting in some cultures peace and justice, in others faith and luck, and in some others even lust! In any case they are said to "gladden the heart", and I find it so true, a fresh breath of linden blossoms will clean your very soul. I shall soon update my review of the scent as whole, I will buy a 30ml next week. By the way Laboratorio Olfattivo is one of my favorite Italian niche brands, their style is modern and clean but even their deep scents in the Laboratorio in Nero line are amizing so I was really happy to see they had made their new fragrance based on tilleul.

I was a bit reluctant about a modern interpretation of a linden blossom that features cashmeran, but Til.. shows some genius on the part of Luca Maffei in choosing a material that dissolves the seams between the linden and a musky drydown. The earthy, woody, animalic undertones of linden are exalted by the coniferous, plush, woody musk of cashmeran. The linden here is exquisitely rendered and lifted by profile-adjacent jasmine and neroli. A cooling effervescence from ginger adds a quenching quality. The result is a tranquil exhalation, with the occasional wafting punctuation of neroli, its pairing with the linden imparting the ultimate fresh laundry while walking in nature sort of effect. It is inviting and gentle, but by no means a withdrawn wallflower of a fragrance. Its radiance just never nags, as I often find with the modern niche fragrance approach. There's integrity and just the right amount of intrigue, much like in Maffei's brilliant Cologne Intense for Houbigant. It is deep and simple rather than shallow and complicated, which I will admit comes from the words of Fred (Mr.) Rogers. Mr. Rogers? Yes. I just finished reading "The Good Neighbor: The Life and Work of Fred Rogers." I am not sure if Mr. Rogers wore any fragrance at all, he wasn't much for vanity at all, but if he did, Til.. would suit him. It is neither masculine nor feminine, it is benevolent, hopeful, and tender. Also, as I write this, "A Summer Wasting" from Belle and Sebastian just finishes playing, and that song suits this fragrance as well. And this is where my ramble for this beatific new release ends. What a beautiful linden fragrance. The first time I smelled the flowers of Linden was in the Brooklyn Botanic garden in like 2004. They had a whole row of them ( I hope they still do) and I was lucky enough to be there while they were in bloom. I had mainly made the trip there to see their peonies in full bloom before I went on to Wave Hill, and accidentally experiencing these Lindens pointed out to me again how often the more subtle beauties of life get subsumed by the extreme extroverts. Not that the fragrance of linden is subtle, or that the fragrance of peony is not, quite the opposite in fact. But still peonies capture so much attention for their lush beauty and just kind of bombastic presence that of course they eclipse any trees that happen to be blooming near by. Anyway, Tiglio Mirabilis is a photo realistic recreation of the scent of linden blossom (I now have my own tree). But- there is something a bit off in the very top stage of this, I’m not sure if it’s the ginger or the cardamom or both but it gives kind of a sweaty sour effect. It burns off quickly though, leaving the linden with its accompanying jasmine, and this stays around for hours and hours and hours. Beautiful to be able to smell this scent of early summer, the best time of summer before heat and drought bake us all into a coma, at any time of the year. Perfume is such a blessing.

Hear me out Tilia fans. You have never smelled a real linden blossom tree in full bloom if you think Tilia is better. LO did it 50 times better- as kids nowadays say: they ate and left no crumbs. This is absolutely photorealistic linden blossom. It is blooming, late May, a hot night and it just hugs you. Then when it dries down it gets super sweet as if you are sipping a tea but still uplifts you because it remains floral enough. This is a symphony of a perfume- elegant, nostalgic but in the best way possible and so beautifully blended. My only regret is I didn’t blind buy the 100 ml and have only 30 ml.

This scent is divine!! Wearing this scent you can imagine what it's like to be a bee in a blooming linden tree and buzz with other bees in the same rhythm. For me, the scent of this perfume describes exactly what I imagine standing under blooming linden trees, being embraced by this scent. The buzzing of the bees is an important component here, which in my opinion is missing from the much praised D'orsay "Vouloir Être Ailleurs C.G. ". Although it is also kind of classy and very good. I love the scent of Tiglio Mirabilis !!!!

Fantastic soliflore, with enough complexity and elegance, without feeling melancholic. I just bought it and I am in linden blossom heaven. The evolution is beautiful too, without becoming too musky and retaining a soft floral heart. The rendition of linden is green and crisp like young blooms, almost photorealistic. Cannot praise it enough.

Uuu I really like it. A really fresh and sweet white floral, very feminine.

Thought it was unisex, it was given to me as a free sample from an Italian boutique..took me forever to decipher the handwritten label. Thank goodness for fragtantica. It's sweet and musky. Floral notes are hard to distinguish, it's so muddled i wore it with great compliment without anyone thinking it too feminine.

An interesting contrast between two equally strong forces: sweet, honeyed linden as the yang, and a fougère-like salty ginger-cardamom accord as the yin. In the drydown, the tension softens, and the scent resolves into something coherent: early spring blossom, still-bitter young greens, buds just beginning to open

Directly compared it to Tilia and this is completely different to my nose, much more naturalistic and creamy floral - almost dirty sensual in its suggestion. It is rather more weak though, and gives less sillage.

Testing blind this started off leaning feminine, floral and springtime like, turning a lot more musky and unisex as the day went on. I liked it post a 20-30 minute dry down more than the opening for that reason and testing it for yourself would be good as I don't think an initial whiff is that informative. This probably explains the feminine leaning here. The citrus elements keep it fresh and clean, while the spices give some character. It's pretty likeable and friendly and generally musky without being a powdery bomb. Maybe an easy gift if you know the receiver generally likes the notes. It's picnic time for all here.

Opens with fresh aromatic ginger and very strong neroli. I don’t get a lot of cardamom here and I wish I did! The heart of this is just pure linden blossom...and I don’t like linden blossom so I didn’t like this lol. The linden blossom literally takes over the whole thing with very minimal jasmine.The dry down is a softer and muskier yellow floral with soft woods. This one is pretty simple, just soft woods, yellow florals, and musky cashmere. Don’t hate it, don’t love it.

No. No. No. And it breaks my heart. After reading the raving reviews, I dashed to the shop—could it be that Tilia finally has a rival? Perhaps it’s body chemistry, perhaps the linden trees of the Baltics are coded with different DNA—but on my skin, Tiglio Mirabilis is galaxies away from that honeyed, golden blossom fragrance I adore, the one Tilia so magically pulls out of my memory’s hidden drawers. Yes, somewhere in the middle you might glimpse a whisper of linden bloom... but something sharp and jarring comes crashing in and shatters it completely. A terrible shame—our auras just don’t get along. I wouldn’t recommend blind-buying this one if you’re hoping to find a cousin to Tilia.

Interesting and memorable, but not in a good way. Smells with cucumber tonic that went bad. I noticed this smell in some creams (not cheap, btw). Stays for a while, but the rotten stuffy note is killing it for me.

Please dont listen to the people saying this smells like Tilia lol... This is photorealistic linden tree, Tilia is the artistic take on linden.
