Lacoste Booster

On my journey to find the perfect mint fresh fragrance I came across this at a cheap price of 125ml for just 38 quid, so took a punt on it, My first impressions are it opens bright with fresh transparent citruses and a menthol-like mint with vague herbs and spices, however I do think I get a pickled chilli pepper note in the background adding a unique savoury aspect. Booster also has elements that remind me of other more well known 80s fragrances, maybe it is the choice of spices & herbs used, for example there's a hint of that brand new urinal cake associated smell often found in pre 90s fragrances here but it's subtle. Generally this smells very green, almost like the smell of cut grass on a warm day of late spring, takes me back to playing football on the school fields. As it starts to dry down some of those rather dated elements start to calm down and fall into the background, which is good. Opening: 6/10 (smells dated) Dry down: 7/10 (improves and smells less dated) Performance: lasts around 5 hours, moderate projection for 1 hour then intimate for the rest of its life on skin. In conclusion, this fragrance has a couple of noteworthy drawbacks. Firstly, its DNA feels outdated, and an exacerbating factor is the regrettable trend that began in the late 80s where companies producing toilet fresheners and soaps started incorporating scents influenced by popular fragrances. As a result, the scent profiles used in these fragrances became permanently associated with bathroom products. Furthermore, it is likely that this fragrance was reformulated in 2022 to comply with new fragrance "health and safety" guidelines. Unfortunately, this reformulation tends to weaken older, well-known fragrances that relied on specific synthetic and natural compounds for their longevity and projection, thus the result is a weak performing fragrance.

Picked this up on sale from a rack store. I had the OG growing up and I loved it. Such a unique, minty-fresh fragrance. Performance was a little below average but for something that is mostly top notes it’s to be expected. Anyways, I feel like this has the same DNA as the original but the opening seems harsher than I remember. It smells almost identical to Simple Green all purpose cleaner. Not exactly something you want to smell like, but it does calm down after a few minutes. I will say, this is not as good as I remember the original to be but it’s still pleasant once it dried down a little. I bought this for the nostalgia value but if I had not previously owned it I don’t know if I would pick it up now. That being said I do like that it is different. It’s refreshing and diverts from the norm. Wish more perfumers would explore this eucalyptus/mint side of things. Anyways, I still like it but the jury is out on if most will. Bring back the old bottle!

A toned down, less harsh and modernised Lacoste - Lacoste. The Grapefruit isn't citrusy bright or bitter, its like Grapefruit oil. Same for the Mint. It isn't mentholic or "boosting" like some other Mint in perfume. But, it does add greenery and spiciness. There is a lot of 'soapiness' though, not overpowering. It's like a soap from the mid-century or, like the 'soapiness' of an 80's perfume or, as in Frapin - Isle of Man. Light, neutral Vetiver and Musk give it weight. Overall, its a bit fruity sweet. Minty, spicy green. Fuffy/dusty/stuffy. Smooth. Clean soap. Not as chemically or synthetic like other Lacoste offerings. Leans Masculine.

An underrated Lacoste scent for sure. It's bright, green, and fresh, but my favorite part is how it feels chilled when you spray it on your skin. Longevity and sillage are slightly better than the average Lacoste scent.

Lasts around 3 to 4 hours skin scent for the rest of its duration. Mint heavy, as a person who is a mint lover I find this a bit to minty but the dry down is pretty good. A good spring and summer casual scent.

A bit different from the original! I prefer the original booster! Why they altered the original formula? The original version was just amazing! 🤔 The new version can't beat the original version!

Not a bad fragrance by itself but it's less good than the original booster! Somehow it's a nice sport fragrance 🏊 perfect for hot summer days 🔥

A great everyday fragrance that smells a tiny bit like nautica voyage to me.

Uplifting fragrance. Perfect for physical activities. Quite linear because a pungent mint (eucalyptus would be more accurate despite the fact that it isn't mentioned here as an active ingredient) is all you really get. There's a slight metallic bitterness to it that makes it modern, clean and fresh. Lacoste Booster is soft and unassuming, at a decent price. Good for high temperatures and very informal occasions only. Two hours max duration.

I mean it’s fine. Kinda just smells like fresh laundry. Would be perfect for an everyday dumb reach for the office or just going to the store.

It cannot be compared with the first version. rubbish.

Lacoste Booster in a nutshell is like a really nice green,soapy smell. I had an Irish Spring Aloe Vera body wash that smelled almost identical to this. This opens up very green but also slightly sharp and citrusy. The opening is ok but it reminds me a tad bit of some type of cleaner. As it dries down that sharpness fades and the mint and the green notes really shine! This gets smoother and mintier the longer it's on your skin. The drydown is by far my favorite part of this fragrance. This scent is not a favorite but I do really enjoy this as a dumb reach fragrance as it just smells like a nice green style soap. Which makes it perfect for warmer weather casual use. Performance on this is average as it lasts 4-6 hours but for a fresh smell that's not bad Overall rating -7.5 out of 10 ! This is an excellent fragrance. It's something a little different from the norm; the trend seems to be sweet based fragrances (nothing wrong with that, I have Polo 67 which is an exceptional sweet scent) so to find an alternative non-sweet fresh fragrance is a treat. It's not mentioned in the notes but this is a menthol, eucalyptus combo that is fresh, clean and will invigorate you. Beautiful musk dry down as well. Lacoste have a real skill with this type of fragrance. Longevity is really poor sadly: 1 hour projection and a 2 hour skin scent with 5 sprays. But whilst I can smell it, I love it. 8/10

I'm a fan of this fragrance. The first time I used it was in 1998, having been offered on my birthday by an ex-girlfriend. At first I was surprised by the different and very fresh aroma. I was already regularly using Lacoste Original pour Homme (1984) and expected something similar. It is in fact a fresh, unique aroma, as some experts in the field say - with a synthetic note. However, I highly recommend it. It is and will always be part of my collection, not only from the nostalgic side, but also from the quality that it still maintains today.

Why did they bring this out ??? Anyone who has experienced the original stuff will understand what I'm saying. This is a muffled /muted version of the original. It contains some of the DNA, but watered down to homeopathic levels. Sacralige !

If you are looking for the first formulation of this just buy Prada LHomme the OG not the intense. It’s even better than the first formulation of this.

Nothing like the original release of the same name, (which was excellent). This stuff is CRAP !

A must-have for my gym bag, personally. Fresh uplifting mint, gives you a little kick.

Does this have the eucalyptus note of the original?
