Match Point

I really like this fragrance. Criminally low-rated, I'd say. A beautifully-composed, natural yet sweet, vetiver scent. I decided to try this since I already own Match Point Cologne, one of my all-time favorite freshies, which enjoys a 4.18 Fragrantica rating — totally deserved — but for some reason, this EDT sits at 3.61. I think that's ridiculous. This EDT is at least as good as Match Point Cologne – just slightly more green and grassy, slightly less bright and fruity, a bit less sharp and punchy in the top notes... which I think makes it smoother and more versatile. It basically swaps the rhubarb and mandarin for sage and vetiver. The nicely-blended vetiver note comes out progressively as it moves into the mids. Performance is pretty good for an EDT, especially considering how fresh it is. Overall, I see this as a slightly sweeter, more mass-appealing take on something like Terre d'Hermes Eau Intense Vetiver... which is not a bad thing! It's a very pleasant, green-leaning, natural-smelling freshie, at a budget price. I can see myself reaching for this a lot in spring / summer.

I tested and wore many lacoste fragrances over the years, mainly for sport or casual situations when wearing a higher class fragrance is inadequate. This release is by fare the best of the lacoste fragrance line. It's truly a masterpiece, it is so good that It has become no my new signature scent for spring/summer time sport and office. It's perfectly versatile and the dry done is top tier. Don't stop at the first spray cause the beginning is little bit strange but after a few minutes you start to smell the beautiful dry down. Last and not the least, it's not weak like the majority of their previous releases. It performs quite well. 3/4 sprays and you are good for up to 6 hours which is respectable for most situations Good job

This is a fruity floral green fragrance with a touch of sweetness to begin with. There is a strong green apple note, apparently they didnt feel the need to list it. Geranium gives it a unisex floral backbone. An hour in it gets woodsy and then that fades and it becomes a musky fresh version of the opening. The comparisons to CK Eternity EDP are accurate except that this has a a different more modern base. Performance was outstanding for a designer cheapie, 6 hours easy and I was getting whiffs at the 8 hour mark.

If you’re a fan of the original Guerlain Homme like I am (clear bottle Silver front plate with the guerlain insignia) you’re going to fall in love with this. Great warm weather sport driven, active, or workout fragrance. Simple vibrant and easy to pull off and I really admire Lacoste for releasing a fragrance with potential to be an easy reach workhorse. Not every fragrance needs to set off my neighbors C02 sensors for silage or nuclear performance.

I really love Lacoste Match Point because it has a fresh, energetic scent that feels clean, modern, and easy to wear. The mix of citrus, green notes, and woods gives it a sporty character that always feels uplifting and well put together. I find it versatile enough for everyday wear, and it consistently smells smooth and crowd-pleasing on my skin. Overall, I think Match Point is an excellent fragrance that delivers great style and value.

You remember in one of the weddings or any type of social gathering how that filthy rich uncle was smelling but you couldn't ask or he didn't tell you? Believe me, this is that shitt. Stupidly fresh and mass appealing with that little bit of mature sweet green touch. This stuff is damn good. Quality is also right up there. Absolutely no longevity like hardly 3 hours on my skin but smells like mass appealing modern fruity green fragrance.

From all Lacoste fragrances collection I have for men ‘this is the one I like de most ! So refreshing clean sparkling fragrance . Every time I wear this I get the feeling of I’m the cleanest man. This juice is good for every day wear, office ,casual work environment, wear this with confidence you won’t offend anybody with this great Lacoste gem

The perfect, inoffensive true Vetiver/barber shop scent. Definitely mature. I like how it doesn’t add oceanic and ozone, almost apologizing for being green, like most modern gym scents. Great default every day scent if you want to be simple. Great starter green before jumping up to H24. Simply well done.

This is so slept on. It's not talked about a lot from reviewers but it should be. This is such a beautiful green, spicy, and fresh fragrance for spring, summer and early fall. When I put this on it has such a beautiful fresh feel. I don't know how many times I have to keep sniffing my arm.

i wanted to like this but idk dude it just smells kinda weird, like sour. it doesnt smell bad but i just do not want to smell like it. irrelevant but i met a fine shyt at the gym and i was wearing this and i just felt like she was thinking i smelled weird

This is Wimbledon in a bottle (apart from the strawberries). From the smell of freshly cut grass in the morning to the tennis-inspired bottle. Fresh, green, uplifting. Perfect for work and for spring/summer/early fall.

Irish Spring deoderant, a fresh tube of tennis balls, a windowsill herb garden, a sprawling golf course. Super fresh, a bit sweet and sporty- looove this scent on my bf, perfect everyday gym scent.

Bought a bottle of Match Point body spray on clearance at Marshalls and was surprised how much I liked this scent. Months later I found a bottle of EDT on the cheap online and decided to add to my collection. I know that its not the best received scent but I must have a generic nose because this is a great scent for me and I like it very much more than any of you guys seem to. Reminds me of a more musky Eternity type fragrance from the late 90's with a modern twist. I feel if you mixed some Light Blue Forever into an Eternity bottle you would have something similar. It does not change much from start to finish. Right away I get musky grapefruit that is tamed down with basil and soft pepper notes. Turns green from here with geranium, light sage and almost a irish spring soapy floral musk. Then is surrounded by a very smooth clean vetiver that with a touch of cashmeran that has a warmth to it that is unique for such a fresh green scent. I smell no pine or woods at all in this. Smells mature clean and I could see how younger people would find it too mature. For me its a great find and will surely get worn this spring and summer. Could be worn in cool weather as well. Great for office or daytime events. Seems to be a good projector and lasts about 6-8 hours on skin. Solid green frangrance 7.5/10

Match Point by Lacoste is a woody, herbal and green fragrance. Its opening is quite fresh, it smells of grass or garden grass, probably citrus and basil, in this phase it is very bright and stimulating, I liked it a lot. After a few minutes the citrus disappears but the herbal notes remain with a wood base. This fragrance has been a surprise for me, because it goes in the opposite direction to some trends in current fragrance launches, let's say sweet and spicy, blue or iris. In my case it reminds me a little of Eternity (the EDP) or Truth, both by Calvin Klein, in which green notes predominate like recently pruned or watered gardens. Because of its herbal notes, I like it to be used in spring, summer and autumn, for casual, sport use and I would say for any situation where you want to feel that feeling of country freshness. Longevity greater than 8 hours. with me and regular sillage.

Don't get the hate on this one. Definetly doesn't deserve the current 3.63 score. While nothing is groundbreaking here, the fragrance itself has enough character and stays very much in line with Lacoste's "sporty elegance" identity and you can do way worse than Match Point for its price tag. Performance is on par with every other Lacoste fragrance which is average, but the scent is pretty good for a summer casual outing, will get you compliments for sure. I got more than once wearing it. While Lacoste White and Essential are their S tier offerings for me, Match Point beats even some other Lacoste fragrances in terms of being affordable and pleasant enough to warrant a spot in my summer rotation.

it's very good actually. it stands out. after smelling 6 other new edt's at notino today, this release is something different. almost brave by todays standards. green, fresh but deep. a new classic? well, do we have even the audience for that nowadays? a crowd pleaser? maybe. a compliment getter? with so many mainstream "blues" and "millions" in game, i doubt it. but anyway, good job lacoste. 8/10 soundtrack: vladimir cosma - le jouet ost.

I love this. I don't get how people can't appreciate a good aromatic/fougere but cream their pants for the most basic of blue scent. To me this is just Calvin Klein Eternity with the soapyness removed and swapped for vetiver. Definitely worth a sniff of them both if you're bored of the endless sea of blue fragrances

Opens up fresh spicy, grapefruit and pink pepper will take the lead for the first minutes, before a powdery dry down from the geranium kicks in and a soft woody cashmere will appear in the background. Sporty and casual, definitely unisex in my opinion. Softer and soapier than usual citrus-freshies. Really nice!

I like that perfume, The spicy freshness combined with the woodiness is perfect for the hot sunny days that happens to be most of the year in where i live, But unfortunately it doesnt last long like i really mean it i wish it would last 4-5 hours but most of the time it last for about 2 hours and half.

As a tennis lover, I'm always seeking the perfect sport cologne, so many just don't fit the bill, this one however does. I'm not the greatest lover of Lacoste fragrances, but I really like this one, the vetiver note is ever present, but it's soapy and clean too. It performed pretty well, thumbs up.

Everyday spring/summer fragrance. If you like fresh herbal fragrances this is for you. Herbal, fresh, clean, effervescent sparkling scent. I would wear this for the gym, office or hang out in a hot day. Not that much to say about this, it's simple, it works and you smell good and clean. 6.5/10

From a female point of view, I like it but don't love it. It's herbal and even slightly medicinal, green and fresh spicy. Clearly masculine. I think it could work best in warmer weather, being a fresh and clean sort of scent. It isn't one that would turn my head if my husband was wearing it.

not bad, very herbal and nice fragnance to use in school, office or just daily. reccomend for the summer it dont rreally last so much if it lasted longer i would have gaven it 8.6/10 for now a 7/10. also good price good fragnance approved

Compared with the more yellowish juice of the cologne, this one is going to be more office friendly, if that's a concern, due to its milder nature and lack of the other's bitterish, jazzy citrus/rhubarb opening.

This is a fresh and pleasant scent. I use this always (and only) when I go golfing. Literally smells like the golf course. Actually this might be my most complimented fragrance now that I think of it.

Received a tester of this and think it’s very unisex/like a mature CK One. I’d LOVE smelling this on a man, though. It’s fresh, green and pleasant - perfect everyday wear.

Nothing groundbreaking but an easy grab out of the shower on a normal day or a great gym fragrance. No complexity here, just a mass appealing freshy.

Weirdly enough this actually smells like a tennis court. I like this as it's somewhat different but still has that mass appeal effect. Thumbs up.

This is a really average fragrance in my opinion. It’s very aromatic, herbal and has an air of cheap aftershave from a chemist about it. I originally only tried it because I’m a big tennis fan but this doesn’t make me think of tennis, it’s not sporty or fresh enough and I struggle to even place it under a summertime category. I totally get Lacoste going for a tennis theme but this one is an unforced error (lol) for me. It projects well enough, and it does also last pretty much all day too, it just isn’t going to pull compliments or make you feel amazing. It’s something for someone who isn’t into fragrances who will wear it fully believing it’s great. I’ve owned worse fragrances but I’d recommend something else such as Nautica Voyage to save a bit of money and for a better response. What I do like about it however, is the tennis ball blown into the base of the bottle and the tennis racket handle lid, that’s pretty cool. Scent: 5/10 Projection: 7.5/10 Longevity: 8/10 Versatility: 6/10 Price: 8/10 Overall: 6.9/10

Lacoste Match Point is a versatile and safe spring/summer scent. Slightly spicy and green, but definitely comes across as your typical warm weather sporty fragrance. Less citrusy and more of a modern herbal sweetness on this one. It's good, but nothing out of the ordinary. I think this is a good option for entry level fragrance enthusiasts.

I hate to write negative reviews for Lacoste, because I have a bit of a soft spot for this brand as a whole. Nonetheless, it's also my philosophy that honest reviews, especially negative/critical honest reviews, can help others choose their products with more caution. More often than not, negative/critical reviews aid with purchase decisions better than positive reviews because they tend to be more detailed and objective. So, I'm really sorry, Lacoste, but I have to butcher you on this one. (Don't worry - I also did glorify your other scents that I genuinely felt deserving of praise, too.) Back to Match Point... Oh I don't like this one at all. Smells way too green and herb-like. It smells really old. Like, only 60+ yr olds who want to appear 90+ would ever wish to wear this. I don't know what to compare this with - certainly not CK One! - but it smells extremely strongly of basil and vetiver. Another reviewer said this smelt like a tennis court. I can certainly see where that came from, though for me it's more like an overgrown, overdue-maintenance golf course (certainly I don't mean it in a good way.) If you guys have tried Brüt aftershave (that green liquid classic item grandpas love and cherish), then this comes pretty close, but OLDER. I never thought anything can smell older than a Brüt aftershave or deodorant, but this Match Point managed to take the cake in this category. To top it all off, it's pretty strong, too. I sprayed only once on my arm and I almost already see the world in shades of dark green. Imagine what 5+ sprays would do. I know perfume tastes are almost totally subjective, but this is one of the last perfume I'd personally wear or recommend anyone I know to wear. Let me put it this way, this is not the worst perfume I've tried (far from it, actually), but if I have only this perfume to wear, I'd rather go without any perfume. Maybe I'll give it 4 out of 10 if I have to rate it. Again, sorry Lacoste. I really can't let this one pass.

First Pass - I thought I had accidentally walked into a flanker of French Panache (one of my favorites). Very similar opening, sweet, fruity, and earthly tones. There are some differences lingering under the surface, but I can't pinpoint them just yet. 1 Hour Later - No one would mistake this for French Panache anymore. The sweetness is gone. This is all citrus now and has turned into a much crisper scent I'm conflicted on this one. It's hard for me not to like the opening parallels with French Panache, but the dry down evolves into more of a "blue" fragrance, which I don't typically like The metamorphosis is interesting, almost like getting two colognes for one. Ultimately I don't think the flavors pair well enough to order seconds ***Scents, like tastes, are subjective. Wear what you like***

I dislike this for several reasons. It smells very flat/ no depth / synthetic / cheap (bad)... drugstore level / has a cheap pencil shavings/ artificial cedar note. Close up smells downright disgusting. I'm surprised it gets so much praise. Weird !

Smells like deodorant combined with sweat. Nothing new, something an older man would wear in high heat. scent 2/10 performance 6/10 longevity 7/10 PASS

Subtle, citrusy, fruity, boring.

Whoever has voted this as similar to Blue de chanel should retire from collecting colognes as a hobby because they’re not very good at scent recognition. I’m joking of course, but not really. I respect our community so much so that I would hate to send another member down the wrong path with a purchase expecting this to be like BDC. Anyway, I was close to blind buying this stuff but was lucky enough to get a chance to smell a tester of this stuff first and I’m glad I got the opportunity to do so because I would have been extremely disappointed with my purchase. It’s not a bad scent, but in no way does it warrant its $100 dollar purchase. The best way I could describe this stuff is a herbal freshie. No particular note stands out to me with this one, and since I hate using the word generic to describe a fragrance, let’s just say that Lacoste can do a million times better than this, and they have. Basil and grapefruit stand out in the opening, then in the mid you have the herbal notes, it’s not sharp and it’s not sweet. In some ways it reminds me of a Salvatore Ferragamo type of herbal scent, but nothing pops or stands out. By the time the vetiver kicks in during the dry-down I’ve already lost interest with this stuff. Like I’ve said, it’s not a bad scent but it’s too simple without any depth, maybe I was expecting too much from Lacoste. 4/10.. Sorry, hard pass.

I blind bought this. And i regret it. I honestly HATE this perfume because i find it to be way to peppery. I usually don’t hate perfumes But this one i really do hate. Would NEVER recomend this one ever agian.

Boring pepper and cinnamon scent!

A pragmatic review of Match Point Lacoste Fragrances from an unrefined nose === Summary: what Bois Imperial Extrait smells like in my head. === Backstory: There I was at work wearing Bois Impérial when I saw my coworker spray his fragrance. Naturally, I asked to try it and sprayed it on the back of my hand. Instant recognition. This made me realize that I'm anosmic to that whole Akigalawood nonsense and only smell basil. To my nose, this is that same sweet basil that gives such an ethereal green effect. I still love the zen vibe but now it's lost its otherworldly magic. Performance is shit though. Bois Impérial is objectively less interesting, but I can still smell it in the air by the end of my shift. Match Point became a faint skin scent about 4-5 hours in. Overall, this encourages me to think about Bois Impérial layering combinations. I'm not sure with what yet.

I can't believe the low rating for this fragrance. Very undeserved. You can find this for a reasonable price and I highly recommend picking it up. It's fresh and green with an uplifting vibe (I think it's the basil and geranium). Very clean. Absolutely perfect for a pick up and spray type fragrance. I wore this for a full week in work, on holiday, meeting up with friends and nights out and I received compliments on every occasion. Longevity isn't great but seems to last longer on clothes than skin. And as stated above, it's not that expensive so overspray to maximise its potential. Lacoste is a good fragrance house. 8/10

I feel like for the money - there are better perfumes you can get. For example - Lacoste lhomme (my top compliment getter). This perfume isn’t bad. But it’s not great either. My girlfriend loves it on me but I don’t + it stays on clothes forever lol. It has pretty good projection and stays long enough on you. Would I buy this ever again? probably not. Maybe it’s made for playing tennis. When you’re sweating like hell on a hot day on a tennis court - it can probably be what you need to smell like. I haven’t tried it myself though.

This far the best Lacoste I've smelled! It's a classic non-offensive fragrance for men and by classic I mean it could be a cologne splash from the 1950s even. But still it doesn't smell like your granpa. Opens fresh and citrusy, dries down to woody and green smell. It's clean and kind of sporty. I would recommend it from age 15 up to 40. Not bad at all! The pricing at the moment is a bit off, I think a 100ml bottle should be something like 15 to 25 EUR.

Well blended, but boring. Green, but synthetic -- yet without rough edges, so points for that. Kind of reminds me of Hermes H24 in that regard. There is a dry and peppery cashmeran accord that really reminds me of tennis court, so it fits with the descriptive title. I get something clean and rubbery plus freshly laundered clothes. It's nice, but I wouldn't want to smell like that.

This is a great aromatic scent, it gets more herbal as it dries down. The most dominant notes are sage, geranium and vetiver with basil and citrus in the background. Not the strongest perfume, it is more casual than elegant but is great for an active day in warm weather. Scent: 7,5/10 Sillage: 6/10 Longevity: 7/10 Versatility: 8/10
