Velvet Plum

Tried it multiple times, loved it from first sight. Definitely not a women's perfume, as men I can definitely wear it, it's woody and leathery with the musk, and it feels like the best bed sheet. It's definitely not a very masculine smell but too call it a women's fragrance i think is an overstatement. Very unisexy

Powdery wood takes the lead from the first connection of perfume with skin. Confident, smoky and luxurious. It puts the first brush strokes of the velvet impression into the composition. There is a sliver of bergamot following it, but it is very light and etherial, so I expect that not many people will grasp it. Iris and heliotrope create a slate blue hue, reaching out for the plum, but not there enough. They add cool satin smoothness, warmed up by cashmeran and the wood. The plum I see is still ripening, not ready yet, but already taught and seductive enough, that one has to exercise restraint and patience so as not to pluck it too soon. The sensation of velvet is incomparable to anything I have ever smelled. I can feel it's warm embrace, gentle bristling against my skin and seductive whisper promising all the delights and indulgences of its nature. Patchouli adds the raspiness, perfectly imitating the soft bristles of the fabric against the skin. It is one of the best patchoulies I have experienced, - measured, deep and physical. It is not just a scent, it is a pure sensation and indulgence on one's skin. I love the projection, slightly more than arm's length, but due to the skilfulness of the composition and blend, - never overpowering or repulsive. This is a noble, classic and unique scent, that cannot be mistaken or confused with any other. Forget Tom Ford or others, - this is a velvet in a steel-blue hue, that has never been done before or since. This is not about the fruit, but about its impression and perception of the imperial majesty and magnificence. I do not feel tuberose or florals; but osmanthus is here, powdery and discreet, as a shogun to Japan's Imperial Court. A perfect facet to already amazing composition. It diffuses the scent over the skin and above it, ensuring its unique and dignified character, announcing its righteous place among the other notes, hailing from millennia prior to the modern perfumery. The "Velvet Plum" is one of the most distinguished fragrances that project quiet power and nobility, unhurried and unbound by anyone's rules except those it chose for itself. It is perfectly unisex and versatile like no other. This is a plum without a plum, and yet, - the soul of it is here, luxurious, unmistakable and unforgettable. The Shogun of the old, not Tokugawa for they were too crass and fixated on the tea ceremony. I see the Ashikaga/Muromachi period, when the imperial blood still flowed in teh veins of the noble warriors and the culture and eloquence were also part of their soul.

Lightly spicy & floral suede, cashmere, with leather accords (though the note is not listed). Very powdery and very persistent, I see a comparison to Satine, but this scent isn't as warmly vanillic & creamy as that one. No plum, if it's there, it's not making itself known. Works best in autumn and indoors during the winter, different take on a cuddly scent. Worth trying.

Dark, woody, patchoulish.. I would say there is a oud here and leather. Definitely it can be considered as unisex, but not completely male's fragrance. Will suit to anyone who likes woody and leathery mild scents. Reminds very much "Shalimar" by Guerlain bec in this one feels leather also and woods.

I get a lot more leather than I expected. To me, this is a good powdery leather fragrance, but it was not what I was expecting.

If I wasn't aware that sometimes Osmanthus (picked very young) gives a thick leathery scent. I would never know by reading the notes and the name Velvet Plum. I would think this is a men's leather fragrance. Because it's what it smells like. A leather fragrance for men. This would be excellent for a man.

I've reviewed this before - thought it was familiar! It's all that plus now i feel a heavy leather. I'm fairly sensitive to this note it's not my note, but it feels like a quality one here. More on the rubber tyre side than the suede leather / boots feel so it is a bit much for me but, migth be one for anyone who likes a butch twist in their powdery perfumes. Heliotrope gets lost bless it, the leather overpowers everything to me this time around. Still has a powdery vibe though so i guess the cashmere is standing it's ground. Slightly sweet, not really floral to me.

Despite the name there is no plum note to be found in this perfume, so if that is what you are looking for...turn around now. The primary note is leather. It's a powdery suede with a slightly sour fruity floral edge. The overall effect is fuzzy and leathery, like a chamois cloth. It's not for me, but if you like suede perfumes it might be worth a try.

Leather with powdery heliotrope and iris notes, with a fruity undertone of osmanthus. This is oh so beautiful. It smells very expensive and fancy. It is a little bit similar to Satine, but less sweet, more unisex with the leather and clean patchouli notes. I need a back up bottle.

Nice floral musk with a good earthy patch underneath. Not too sweet, very woodsy. Leans masculine on me, very fluffy and airy. Slight tarmac feel too which I get sometimes with powdery perfumes. Adds to the masculine vibe.

The opening is super spicy and boozy. I feel some strange combination of fruity cider, burnt rubber and something salty. I don’t think it’s repulsive or bad, it’s actually quite pleasant to smell, but still super strange.
