Jasmins Marzipane

Autumn wind floral ★★★★★ Jasmins Marzipane was the last 5 star fragrance from Luca Turin's and Tania Sanchez's guide that I had left to sample. Their guide has been very valuable in navigating the endless sea of niche and for the most part I agree with their judgment. My best discoveries so far with their book have been Alaïa and Fate Woman, which are not only the best things I’ve ever laid my nose on but also both 5 star worthy according to the guide. Now, among the other five-star beasts like Korrigan, Club Design or MEM, Jasmins Marzipane is deceptively simple and easy to get along with. After some investigation, wearing and sampling, I must admit Luca and Tania are right once again – JM is indeed a stunning perfume. To create an abstract floral this believable must be a mountainous task. Gabrielle tried it but failed miserably and ended up cold and shrill, Alien was a lesson in radiance and an exploration in feminine woody-ambers but lacked in emotional depth and elegance. I even sampled Pure Poison simultaneously and compared to Jasmins Marzipane it screamed like a banshee. The usual dilemma I encounter with white florals is that they’re either too natural indolic (Lush Lust) or too chemical (any Michael Kors abomination) to the point it’s impossible to avoid reference to sun lotions or cheap massage oils. In the middle of these two extremes, Jasmins Marzipane cuts through with surgical precision and sits perfectly between familiar naturalness and radiance of aromachemicals. The floral section feels natural, fresh and slightly sour even, but it is anchored by a generous dose of synthetic cashmeran that lends a spicy woody-amber character and provides most of the sillage just as it did in Ropion’s Alien aswell. JM avoids all shrillness, distortion or unnecessary loudness and fills the air with such understated elegance that it’s impossible to find anything dislikeable about it. A powerful, long-lasting white floral that smells balanced, luxurious, airy and beautiful from first spray to the last hours of the drydown? Surprisingly rare breed if you ask me. To top it all, JM avoids all usual cheap feminine vanilla or berry syrup clichés and smells confidently womanly with just enough sweetness from the tiny, tiny dose of almonds. I wore it to work and got three compliments on that single day. Show this to anyone who claims to hate white florals and prove them wrong. For fragrance aficionados, sample Jasmins Marzipane with other abstract white florals and witness its superior beauty which rivals even the legends of Pleasures and J’Adore. Still one of the best jasmine perfume! It’s not the strongest, but it smells so natural and beautiful, almost like a jasmine flower would in real life. A stunning white floral, signature worthy for jasmine flower fans. My bottle has about three years now (1 gold plate on the bottle), so I don’t have one of the bottles from the original formulation, but my Jasmine Marzipan is an airy, crisp, nutty, powdery, soapy, creamy, mildly sweet, jasmine centred juice. The jasmine in here is not indolic or heady, it’s a clean, candied, bright jasmine. Such a feminine and pretty perfume, the ideal one to wear during spring and summer months! Besides jasmine flowers, all I get from the notes listed are the almonds, vanilla and some cashmeran, creating a more complex juice, with some substance and contrast against the jasmine. The dry down smells almost like a creamy custard, so it has a slight gourmand feel. The combination of these notes creates a luscious and velvety concoction that is truly delightful. Effortlessly stunning, wedding day perfume potential, expensive smell, compliment getter! I feel in love with Jasmine Marzipan as soon as I smelled it and I slightly preferred it over Roses Berberanza. Tested both in the same day and went next day and purchased a bottle of this, couldn’t take my mind off it, smells so alluring and sensual. It’s still one of my absolute favourite jasmine perfumes in my collection, so I don’t regret choosing Jasmine Marzipan over Roses Berberanza, even though Roses Berberanza is now discontinued and I can’t buy it anymore... Lasts around six hours on my skin with minimal projection. My husband adores this every time I wear it...

I only ordered this because of its amazing review in The Guide (I happen to agree with the 5 star reviews about 90% of the time), and I actually wasn't very excited about it, I admit I find jasmine to be one of the less exciting "big flowers" of perfumery, but good reviews kept trickling in, including @Hedward's, whose taste I trust, So I finally bought it. After 10 mins of having Jasmins Marzipane on my arm, I came to the following realization: Either every other jasmine scent I've smelled was badly made/ of poor quality, or Jasmins Marzipane is somehow not REALLY a jasmine-led scent, but rather a kind of recreation of jasmine achieved with a variety of unknown notes. (The second option is not denying there's jasmine in here, there certainly is). I honestly don't know. My second theory isn't so far fetched, perfumers often admit to (boast about?) creating rose scents with no actual rose, for example. I guess what makes Jasmins Marzipane special for me is that for the first time I can detect and enjoy all the natural notes supposedly found in jasmine, where before I would just get hit over the head with "jasmine" and that was that. I sniff this and am met with a lively procession of lemon, strawberry, concord grape, nectarine, banana, peach pits... This jasmine isnt cheap and sultry, its composed and alert and intelligent. The woody base is also no joke, the perfectly bitter almond/wood accord is perfection. Longevity is excellent, sillage excellent 10/10, this is THE final word on jasmine, and in the top 5 best ever woody florals ever.

Amongst the market of popular floral and gourmand fragrances out today, the name "Jasmins Marzipane" probably does not evoke anything remotely unique or interesting—and indeed, this is a gorgeous jasmine bomb with confectionary accents of almond nougat. However, master perfumer Dominique Ropion manages to bring to vision a fragrance that is richly textured and gorgeous—the devil is in the details, so to speak. The jasmine bouquet is composed of both sambac and grandiflorum genuses, blended together as an abstract jasmine in such a way that it smells like neither. The former is a tea-like white floral while the latter is indolic and narcotic; this mutant is honeyed, lush, but never veers too far in either direction. The nutty marzipan accord has a realistic whipped egg white texture in its slight sulphuric creaminess, which works with the cashmeran-sandalwood to add necessary dryness to the composition. Many are complaining about longevity and sillage post-reformulation, and I can only speak about my experience with the current version. I will say that it still has pretty strong performance and lasts all day on me. 3 sprays was enough to fill an entire enclosed office space eliciting an allergic reaction to a colleague, following a stern email from a supervisor (oops!)—at the same time, it has garnered me compliments. So, make of that what you will.

Jasmins Marzipane is aptly named - it is a sweet, almond-enhanced jasmine scent. It is extremely well-blended, made with high-quality ingredients and featuring a nice, clean jasmine note throughout. Dominique Ropion is a perfumer I particularly admire, and this is up there with his best creations. He seems to specialise in breathing new life into sweet white florals, and here is a prime example. JM opens with clean jasmine from initial spray, initially slightly fresh, almost green-tinged, but it gets increasingly sweet as it develops. The vanilla is smooth, restrained and dry, not the syrupy vanillin that seems to be added liberally to every designer release these days. The almond adds a slightly gourmand edge, rounding out the vanilla-sweetened jasmine beautifully. The jasmine outlasts the almond-vanilla accord, unusually for such notes. It remains clean, becoming increasingly powdery as it develops. A slight woodiness is present in the base, serving to showcase the jasmine. As it fades, it becomes a musky skin scent. Sillage and longevity are moderate. An excellent sweet jasmine scent, JM places the flower centre stage. High-quality and utterly elegant, this is subtle, feminine glamour in a bottle. An transeasonal scent, ideal for everyday use if money allows. For jasmine lovers. 4.5/5.

The first spray is so unassuming, at first I thought this was just another light white floral and while nice, one of the weaker links in the Maison Lancôme collection. Wrong. It's great, it's just a slow burn. Jasmin Marzipane starts with a jasmine note somewhere inbetween natural and soapy, but leaning more into the clean direction. I think I smell some orange blossom and a light citrus note, too, and I definitely get the parallels to Dior Pure Poison. They don't smell exactly the same, but they give me the same vibe of icy, elegant white floral freshness. The woods in the base are quite noticeable, too, especially the sandalwood - another thing in common with Pure Poison. Their warmth makes for a nice contrast to the hypnotic coolness of the florals and keep them from going screechy. I do smell something almondy, too, but it's a dry, woodsy leaning almond. Actually I think this is a bit of a misnomer, it doesn't smell like marzipan to me (which is fine, as I'm not a big fan of marzipan) and is not half as gourmand as the name suggests. Even though it starts out shy, the scent becomes more wafty and intense after it has settled. It's not overwhelming at all and I can't imagine why anyone would feel offended by it, but it's not the harmless skin scent one might except at first.

I got the new version, where the bottle has only one gold plaque, not two. So my guess is that this is the reformulated version, since we are in 2021. Well, it starts with a blast of jasmine. Strong, opulent and gorgeous, with indolic tendencies, yet easy to love. It definitely smells natural and not synthetic at this time. Unfortunately it loses strength and oomph very fast. The gorgeous, pure and green jasmine mellows down, gets a hint of musky woody sweetness, and goes into a dry down which indeed resembles Pure Poison. It isn't as perfumey as that, but it's doesn't smell anymore like natural flowers either. A hint of sweetness emerges, but by no means I can call this vanilla, almonds, sugar, or marzipan. I ate marzipan in my life, and it's very sweet thing made from almonds and sugar. If you are buying this thinking you'll get a gourmand Jasmine you are in for a nasty disappointment. There is no marzipan here. But, if you want an exquisite Jasmine scent, which has quite poor lasting power, is mostly a skin scent, except the opening which is loud, you will love it. It's a keeper fro me. I would place this in the middle , between Aqua di Parma Gelosimo Nobile ( my favourite pure jasmine ) and Dior Pure Poison. If those two had a baby it would be Jasmine Marzipane.

The first second of the spray is very leafy. Just after that, if sprayed on paper, I smell JASMINE and nothing but. The jasmine is incredible and strong and smells like the most glamorous older woman. On paper, there are only hints of the other notes, shaping the jasmine. On my skin, after the initial burst of leafy scent, it becomes a very demure, sweet jasmine. On my skin, over time, the jasmine slowly fades to the background and you can only smell sweet almond, musk, and sandalwoody notes closest to my skin. It's very quiet and soft, but it smells expensive and elegant. It's almost like your skin just smells good. Not quite edibly delicious, but sweet (but not saccharine!) and floral at the same time. Sprayed conservatively, I could see this being office-appropriate on the right person. I started out disappointed with this scent because the other from the Maison Lancome line that I had tried first, L'Autre Oud and Roses Berberanza, were so much stronger smelling. But then as time went by, I found myself happily catching whiffs of the scent, then just sitting and smelling my wrist. That, to me, is the signature of a Maison Lancome scent. Later on, when you aren't thinking about it, you still can't get enough of that lovely scent in the air.

I have been wearing it for over a year now. While my nose changes by the year and the season, this one stuck by me. I still love it so much and I can't help sniffing my arm all day long. Owning the 2018-2020 bottles, I can perhaps put a light upon this reformulation issue. I personally think that the top note ( a bit offensive, laundry detergent smell) slowly dissipate with the years. My 2018 bottle goes quickly to the heart notes ( a beautiful mix of jasmine and sweet almond). On the other hand, my 2020 bottle maintains this sharp top note for an hour or two. The longevity is still beast, regardless of which bottle. It can lasts days on fabric and can last a good 8 -10 hours on the skin. Lancome has recently changed their bottles. It no longer has the pretty 2 gold plaques. It only has 1 plaque, with the flowers and the name of the perfume on one side. Update: I just acquired a practically new 2016 bottle from someone, it's the same as my 2018, 2019 and 2020 bottles... I really don't understand why there is a reformulation rumour. Maybe the decant made the top notes go away and you only smell the heart notes? I'd still get my hands on a bottle anytime soon, with the rate that Lancôme discontinues their Maison Lancôme line....

Usually, for those they know me, my reviews are like 3 paragraphs, mini description/first contact-explanation of notes/feelings-conclusion/buying it or not. This time I will be quick and there's a reason. Lancome's special line is: a-ma-i-zing! Some of their creations, not all, are at least masterpieces, unique, perfect in quality, lasting power & sillage. What else a buyer or perfume addict needs? I won't lie, Jasmins Marzipane didn't intrigued me enough. First time I smelled it was only because I love jasmin and almond note. The name was enough to give me high expectations. The sillage and lasting power are moderate but if you're a lover of white florals, this can't be missing from your collection. It's the cleanest jasmin I ever experienced. The one you wish to find when the indolic character of jasmin's essential oil dissapoints/scares you. JM is as sweet as a jasmin can be. Romantic, green, fresh, a bit yummy. It's very hard to find pure jasmin perfumes when most of the time it is combined with other white florals that steel the show (see: gardenia, honeysuckle, tuberose) but if I want to give you my point of view, if Jasmine Rouge from Tom Ford is the devil, JM is the angel. That says all.

This is a review for the two gold plated bottle.. When it comes to perfumes I like a strong, borderline offensive in both sillage and longevity. At first i thought a perfume named jasmines marzipan would be a light sweet floral gourmand and this is a sweet Gourmand but not so light. I’m a fan of this Lancôme line especially the bottles with two gold plates, just about all of them are a great example of the once undeniable excellence Lancôme use to be known for. But back to this one...I came here to share one outstanding thing I’ve noticed with this jasmines marzipane,this is one extremely long lasting perfume! It’s sweet, but warm and cozy..it can be used in so many different occasions, this is sexy but not a going out clubbing sexy... it will stick on your cloths even after you wash that clothing item. Once that clothing item gets warmed up with your body heat it will reactive this perfume so the staying power is out of this world! . I’m enjoying this very much, I didn’t think I would, I have the most impressive plush cloud of a sweet delicious jasmine desert hugging me and anyone that comes within arm’s length, well They want to snuggle up :)

Out of the Maison Lancome line, Jasmins Marzipane and Tubereuses Castane were the ones I had reservations about because those are my least favorite floral notes. JM took me by surprise and I absolutely love it. The opening is nothing spectacular but the magic with this scent happens 15 - 20 minutes after it has been on my skin. It turns into this creamy, sweet yet fresh smelling Jasmine. The other notes are blended so well together and elevates the Jasmine into something I cannot get enough of. This by no means a gourmand but it does have elements of it because of the creamy sweetness from the almonds and vanilla. Longevity on my skin is about 8 hours and sillage is medium to soft. This has absolutely rocketed towards being one of my favorites from this line. Edit: I disagree with reviews comparing JM with Pure Poison. Yes they share jasmine as a note but PP is fresh floral with an almost effervescent, uplifting quality while JM while still fresh is velvety and comforting. They are quite different in my opinion. JM reminds me a little of Versace Crystal Noir because of the velvety floral notes.

Wow! This scent surprised me! Along with Parfait de Roses from the Maison Lancome line, i feel like this scent is incorrectly named. When i think "marzipan" i think sweet/gourmand. This fragrance has a HINT of sweetness, but is a mostly clean crisp jasmine with some almond. Now that its winter for me where i live, i won't be wearing this scent until spring/summer which i think it is perfect for! I think the warmth will bring out the jasmine and the clean and crisp edge to it will be brightened by the warm air. The more that i wear it the more i like it. At first when i smelled it i was unsure if i did, but like i said the high heat summer months you want something clean and airy and this is perfect for that. I really don't think this scent fits for fall/winter. Thats just me. This scent is very, very unique and is very beautiful! Super long lasting and heavy sillage on my skin! 8/10 fragrance!

This perfume has grown to be one of my favorites. I ordered a 30 ml when I was very new to perfume in the winter, knowing I like jasmine. Upon first spray I loved the jasmine but sitting inside the smell quickly became too much and the jasmine seemed overpowered by the almond note. I put it away in my drawer for a long time, although I would occasionally give it a confused sniff. In the spring I tried it again, however, and was truly surprised. It is much sweeter, the jasmine comes through a lot more for me and sometimes I even get a fake grape smell which I enjoy. I have been complimented on this fragrance as well in the warmer seasons. I would definitely suggest this for 50-75 degree temperatures but nothing much colder or hotter(fades on me quickly in too high of heat). Oh, and the sprayer in this beautiful bottle is lovely and puts out a very fine mist, which I love.

A fluffy, dreamy pollen-puff of a fragrance. True to its name, Jasmins Marzipane leans delicately sugary and delicious for a fragrance that isn't predominantly a gourmand. The jasmine is plush and marshmallow-y in a way that blends seamlessly with the slightly deeper, warmer notes of malty vanilla. The woody base notes add a whisper of soft pepperiness. This has the same musky-airy-sweet jasmine note that I love in Le Labo Jasmin 17, but here it evokes mostly soft, watercolor blues and purples--whereas Jasmin 17 is all warm pastel orange and cream tones. There's a sweet, girlish wistfulness to it, like Mazzy Star's Fade Into You and Taylor Swift's Snow On The Beach . Like Monet's paintings of his garden at Giverny. Like taking a solitary walk around a scenic pond, while imagining walking the same path with that one particular person whose company you most desire.

OMG! this is sooooo gorgeous! Thank-you Mr. Ropion for giving us this gourmand jasmine fragrance. I am really impressed with this line by Lancome. It is a luxury line that can hold its own against the Chanel Exclusives and the Dior Privee collection. I had my eye (nose?) on this baby for almost a year. Took the plunge and bought a bottle whilst in Florida on vacation over Christmas. Now I can't stop wearing it! I reach for it every day, which is saying something as I tend to constantly switch up the scent of the day as my mood changes. This one is a floral gourmand that is luxurious and garners compliments. It performs amazingly lasting up to 7 hours on my skin. It is clean but cuddly and while others have said it is not office-appropriate, I could not disagree more! Quality ++++ This smells like nothing in my collection. So glad I bought it!

If you like this perfume,it can be very addictive. I love it. To my nose : It's a scent of beautiful rounded Jasmin flowers floating in Almond milk and the softest hint of Musk and sandlawood.It is not sweet ,It's milky. I love Vert Malachite Armani Prive' and Jasmin Marzipan could be the shy and quiet cousin of Vert Malachite. It has the same but toned down Jasmin-Miky vibe. And also same vibe as her sister Lavandes Trianon from the same line of Maison Lancome. I already went through a whole bottle and I would buy more. This is not a loud or sexy scent. But it's rather a comforting and calming scent. It sits very nice on my skin,and very long lasting,mild projection but I can smell it on myself even after 8 hours and someone beside me can smell it too without being annoyed .

This perfume is climbing up in my collection to be one of my favorite. This is a fragrance for a pretty, feminine, sophisticated woman. If you do not like a strong, soapy jasmine scent (or are someone who gets a headache from strong white florals) then you absolutely will not like this perfume, because it is very jasmine forward. The jasmine is warmed and tempered slightly by that almond note. Despite marzipan being in the name, I would say that this is not a gourmand fragrance to my nose. It's jasmine and musk and the vanilla is just there to warm it up. I would say the perfume definitely leans much more musky-watery-white floral than a sweet-gourmand-white floral. This is a fragrance that makes me feel like I can take on the day. Scent: 9/10 Longevity: 9/10 Overall: 9/10

I respect the fact that everyone has a different nose and smell and taste however there is so many awful comments about this gorgeous perfume ! It is certainly does not smell of detergent ! I am absolutely in love with it ! Beautifully combined noted and not overpowering, considering it’s got very strong notes such a jasmine and vanilla. In my opinion beautifully balanced ! I definitely get almond notes or marzipan notes as you call them that are again beautifully combined ! If you like fresh, citrusy perfumes this one might not be for you. I receive so many compliments when I wear this perfume ! Elegance, luxury and sophistication that’s how I feel when I smell this perfume !

I wore this today and got 3 compliments in one day...so far. This is amazing for spring. This is in my top 5 for life! The sillage of this is amazing. One of my complimenters said she followed the trail down the hall to where I was. Too bad it’s discontinued. I bought pure poison as I thought it could be a more affordable version of this. No way! It doesn’t smell at all like this. Really boring and subdued. I sold it on. I also tested Jasmin Rouge, no, I don’t like that one either. I have 2 backup bottles, but I am distressed about the discontinuation of this gem! Update: Just received my third backup bottle. Prices are really high now, and getting higher everyday.

Oh wow, I didn't realize that this pretty little flower is created by Mr. Ropion... Now that i know it, it makes me loves the fragrance even more. This Jasmin scent, much like Carnal Flower, and Portrait of a Lady is perfectly blended. The jasmin is the main player right from the start, and it's a bit creamy due to the vanilla. It's sweet though a bit bitter, never cloying, moderate projection, but stays all day. It really was a love at the first smell. I bought it in Amsterdam, and i dont think ive ever found this perfume elsewhere (i havent check online sellers though). So, im really glad that i have it.

This is a gorgeous ultra fem white floral woody musk! I can smell the pollen on the stamen of the florals. It’s soften and rounded by the musk and milky wood notes. It’s not gourmand and while a gourmandish version of this would be great, this seems like a easy reach signature scent. You definitely have to love floral to appreciate this. It’s not has heady as Poeme and it’s not as transparent or sheer as Pure Poison. I like it a lot more than Iris Dragees which after pinning for it over a year was a disappointment (very close to L’instant magic not the dream Iris/almond gourmand it was touted to be)

I may have prematurely written off the Maison Lancome line of perfume in a previous review, but that’s because I had not sampled Jasmins Marzipane. On me, this sweet jasmine - reminding me of tuberose in this mix - smells triopical and has pretty good longevity. Unlike others from this line, I don’t pick up anything overtly synthetic. It’s very warm and easy to wear, though fleeting. The retail $190 price tag for 100ml is steep, if it was considerably less I would consider owning it. Edit: broke down and bought a .47 oz This is LOVELY. I am transported onto a tropical climate in the dead of winter,

Jasmines are women’s best friends :) So sweet and tender, light and pure, as women’s nature. Have you ever smelled a real jasmine trees in early spring? It’s captivating feeling, like a “drug” that keeps you, seduces you ... “Jasmins Marzipane” is the best interpretation of jasmine. Best and even better than the real flower 🙌🏻 More sweet, more soft and less green. I do not notice here neither almonds nor sandalwood or musk... these ingredients are just a shadow, a silent backstage when the real star is her majesty Jasmine 👑 My secret, my weapon, my spring in a bottle 🍀 Good luck and be inspired 💋

This is a special floral, downright perfect in my eyes. Imagine a softly nutty, warm, vanilla tinted jasmine with a clean soapy outline heated with musk. It's glowing, golden, but deep and knowing all at once. Like a tastefully dressed lady who you can't stop stealing looks at, even though she isn't showing anything. Who rounds the corner, only to surprise you by turning back to lift a brow in subtle acknowledgment of your attention. For a more affordable option, if you want similar, try Catch Me by Cacharel. It's a bit more cashmere and lactonic feeling, but its almond and jasmine do satisfy.

I have to say that this is undeniably beautiful. Like, right off the bat when I sprayed and smelled for the first time, it was an instant "wow." However, it is so so so fleeting and soft. Like I feel like if I could take this scent, which projection wise is sitting at a 2, and turn it up to a 9, it would probably be a masterpiece. I would say, definitely get a sample, however I don't know if it's worth it to have a full bottle since it's literally a whisper ---- unless that's your thing (I need mine to yell a little). Gorgeous bottle, of course.

A lovely candied vanilla jasmine that lingers on throughout the day. I did a blind buy and was initially nervous because I read many complaints about the reformulation. However, I have nothing but love for this fragrance whose depth increases as the day goes on and sinks deeper into your skin and on your clothes. If you're looking for a dupe, try Montblanc's Legend Pour Femme - but know that it lacks the depth and elegance of Jasmines Marzipans. I'm loving this perfume - it's a beauty in a beautiful bottle!

The name of this says it all - jasmine and almond. Although I feel like 'marzipane' might be a little misleading as it might get you thinking of sweet almond. I don't consider this a gourmand at all, it's more of a fresh jasmine with a very authentic but soft almond note to round it out and take the edge off of the sharpness. A very feminine scent that smells lika a woman who gets things done. Very professional but not bossy. I'm a jasmine lover but if you're not, I don't recommend blind buying this.

Jasmine is a hard-sell for me, usually, as it can be so cloying. In Jasmins Marzipane, however, the intensity of the jasmine is calmed considerably by the persistent accord of almond. This is an elegant, ladylike fragrance that I want in full bottle form. It has a beautiful, persistent presence without bombast. I absolutely love it. Jasmins Marzipane is an elegant yet very wearable perfume. Fresh realistic jasmine with a gentle muskiness and a touch of almond. The aromas of sandalwood and vanilla weaving in and out as the fragrance develops are vaguely reminiscent of Samsara by Guerlain. Jasmins Marzipane is a versatile, well blended fragrance that lasts for hours on the skin. It's a comforting scent in many ways, like being wrapped in a warm hug. Love it more every time I wear it.

Those 15 minutes are exquisite, I blew through my older travel bottle, have a newer big bottle bought last year and just bought another. I could try more new things if it weren't for that need for back ups! I don't think it smells like Pure Poison, I had an original I swapped, just couldn't wear it but this, oh, pm me if you have a bottle to swap! I also have Gelsomino Nobile, but while there are similar vibes, I have both, and back ups :-)

Edit: bought it, it’s brilliant. The dry down is one of the most addicting smells I’ve ever come across. Sometimes I forget I sprayed it and smell something that startles me into consciousness and I am again floored repeatedly by how breathtaking and gorgeous I find this fragrance. This is a gorgeous jasmine, everything I want from jasmine. Sharp, animalic, slightly musky, brutally white. This is absolutely going onto my must buy list. 9/10

Extremely sad that this has been discontinued! This is definitely one of my all time favourite scents. I would say it is a cousin or sister to Dior’s Pure Poison (which is another fav of mine), however I believe Jasmins Marzipane is more superior. The jasmine note is more pronounced and it smells more coherent and creamier in a good way. If anyone knows where I can get a bottle or suggest an exact dupe, I would be forever grateful! 😭

I love this Jasmine Fragrance so much that i purchased a back up bottle since im more that half way down. Longevity is not the greatest but the scent is so gorgeous and feminine. No sharp Jasmine here, its softened with Marzipane. Its just gorgeous and i have not smelled anything like it. This will always be in my collection. Gorgeous all year around but specifically in spring and summer evenings are absolutely at its best.

Jasmine at it's best. Soft and slightly sweet. I honestly wish this is sweeter and on me I can barely smell any vanilla. Classy and smells expensive. Incredible longevity 10+ hours but close to skin. Warm and feminine. And the bottle is work of art. Ropion is true genius. I did test this once before buying but I could have easily bought it without trying - jasmine, musk, vanilla and made by Ropion is a winner for me.

Sotd: Jasmins Marzipane (2016) - jasmine almond - One of the most beautiful Jasmine perfumes I have smelled, created by #dominiqueropion . Here he does his signature floral overdose of Jasmine, but balances it out with Almonds, Sandalwood, and White musks. Might sound simple formula-wise, but showcases Jasmine in all its wonderful facets. Masterclass.

This isn't a heady Jasmine for me. I found Tom Ford Jasmine Rouge really heady and 'old lady' smelling. The Jasmine here is really lovely.Reminds me more of the flower scent wafting through the window. The Jasmine does settle down after the opening and its a soft floral sweet. Would like to re-try in warm weather as I've only tried in cooler weather.

This smells like the love child of Dior Pure Poison and Acqua di Parma Mandorlo di Sicilia, both of which I am a big fan of. So innocent, sweet and delicate! A great composition reflecting niche quality that sadly will never reach my boudoir as the 50ml bottle costs about 150 euros in Greece!

@Wednesdaychild41 To me, they're not. I own both and I find the Lancome more floral, I don't really get anything gourmand from it. The Eau Couture has a slightly more "foody" aspect, like pistachio. And both are beautiful and worth owning. :-D

@Wednesdaychild41 Maybe you should also try Girl of Now also by E. Saab, which has a more pronounced almond note, since you like almond. I tested it when it launched and remember it as being more gourmand than Eau Couture.

I bought this beautiful perfume at Macy's on my trip to NYC. What can I say that hasn't been said, except that it is the most sweet and delicate jasmine. Everytime I wear it, I have great memories of my trip.

JM is one of my most favorite perfumes in my collection. Smells amazingly clean, floral and soft. I can't compare it to any other fragrance. Def unique and worth the money. Forever Fav.

I would say this is my favourite fragrance of all time. I have 3 back up bottles because it seems that it is discontinued. Maison Lancome Grand Crus was the best line ever!!

Must not be discontinued, because I got a bottle a few weeks ago, from NM at the Houston Galleria. She’s so very pretty, though overpriced.

So Dominique Ropion seems to have recreated his old perfume Pure Poison with Jasmines Marzipan! It’s softer and less laundry-ish for sure but it definitely smells like Pure Poison, or more specifically it smells like the dry down of Pure Poison Elixir. It has the smoothed edges, added sweetness and creaminess of elixir and is extremely pretty. I do think though, that as with Pure Poison, it doesn’t really smell like a straight-up jasmine perfume. I find Pure Poison to be equally gardenia and jasmine once it settles, with a soapy quality from the orange blossom. That’s why I like it despite normally heartily disliking Jasmine in perfumes (particularly sambac) so I guess it isn’t your average jasmine! I can therefore understand the disappointment if you’re looking for a jasmine and marzipan perfume, because this doesn’t entirely smell like either. It’s also quite soft and subtle but my goodness it’s sooooo luxurious! If you can get your hands on Pure Poison Elixir then it’s probably cheaper than getting a bottle of this - even though it’s no longer in production - but if you wanted elixir and couldn’t get it then Jasmines Marzipane might be a great alternative. It’s crazy expensive but it’s beautiful and the bottle is an absolute work of art! On top of that, I’ve seen a dupe of Jasmine Marzipane by Generic and as no such thing exists for Pure Poison Elixir, that might be an affordable way to get this lovely scent profile :) Edit! I feel like I somehow smelt an older version of this perfume without knowing it, because now I have a sample, it smells like gardenia and tuberose and isn't very sweet or creamy :( it's soapy and buttery and fresh..... a touch screechy. It still has similarities to Pure Poison but man! Save yourself some money and just get Pure Poison! Or if you can live with even lighter, get Jeanne en Provence Jasmine Secret!

I didn't get much bitter or powdery almond in Jasmins Marzipane. The fragarnce is all about jasmine during the first 3 hours, and a very pretty one at that. The jasmine here is more full-bodied than those primarily relying on the green radiancy of Hedione, sweeter and with a noticeable indolic twang. But compared to Tom Ford Jasmin Rouge and Maître Parfumeur et Gantier Jardin Blanc, it's tamer and has a less complexe olfactory profile. The initial indolic and green nuances soon disappear after about 1 hour. The sweet floralcy of jasmine also becomes more and more nebulous with time. During the 4th and 5th hours, the fragrance sometimes smells very softy of caramelised wild strawberry, probably because the cashmeran becomes more noticeable at this stage, which I perceive as having an abstract berry and woody smell among other things. But ultimately, Jasmins Marzipane would resolve into a clean white musk infused with the vague sweet floracy of jasmine. The vanilla is never explicit on my skin to evoke a truly gourmand caracter, but serves to provide a smooth playground for the dainty jasmine. Jasmins Marzipane has a moderate to soft sillage, and lasts about 8 hours on my skin. Although the smell of Jasmins Marzipane didn't inspire the same awe as its splendid bottle to me, it's pretty charming and easy on the nose, and adheres to the conventional feminine beauty quite well. It's probably not the most innovative, interesting or realistic jasmine fragrances that I tried so far, but it does smells more natural and more sophisticated than a few mainstream offerings. I would recommend it as an easy-going everyday fragrance to jasmine lovers, or to those who are venturing into jasmine fragrances but are still unsure about how much indole one can handle.

Jasmins Marzipane Lancôme (USD 150, 100 ml., 1 gold plate bottle, 22W202F - FIRST IMPRESSION) Jasmins Marzipane by Lancome interprets this Jasmine in Woody-White Musk base. Kinda the same ball park of ELDO - Don't get me wrong, YES I DO but that is Mugget in sweeten musky base. This is slightingly similar to something I had smelled before but can't exactly pin-point. Jasmins in Jasmins Marzipane is rather short-life as I last only 5-10 minute. Before leaving the nuance and transiting to woody / almondy in Musky base territory. Marzipane in this, not really photo realistic. Marzipane tastes like Sugary Almond Powder, sandy. But this is Nutty not really sweet. But I still personally classified this as Floral Gourmand. Reminds me of Dior Poison (?), Pegasus by PDM but more Jasmins less metallic (?). The scent is not as multi-dimensional as Rose Berberanza from the same house Lancôme The scent is a bit flat but not thin. A few test must assigned before scoring. But as of now this is most ok to like tier for me. Score 7/10 Projection Longevity Classify : Unisex (leans Femme due to floral quality) Summary : ? Further, the far dry down reminds me of Violet Blonde by TF. What is it?!? ==== Edit 1 : 27 November, I think, this fragrance miss Heliotrope (this will be add the Almondy-Marzipan touch to the fragrance) but understandable, I think if they add it. Fragrance will be a bit too Powdery / Dense. I think consistency of this fragrance just right blends between Jasmine / Almondy sweet wood touch. My score remains the same (7/10)

On the opening there is a green element as well as a spicy or peppery element, which I know is not listed in the notes but perhaps is how my nose is perceiving the almond wood, because it evolves into a light woody pencil-shavings kind of thing. The overall impact is reminiscent of Rouge Malachite, but without the amber, and way lighter and brighter. The jasmine is a soft, sweet expression of the flower, warmed by the vanilla. As it dries down it develops a subtle powdery character. This jasmine is not heady or indolic or dirty - it is creamy and sunny and open. I am a jasmine addict, so I would personally wish that the balance between jasmine and woods was more leaning towards the jasmine. To my nose, this is maybe a 65% woody and 35% jasmine balance, and for my preferences it would be the reverse. I also wish that the overall intensity was maybe 30% stronger -- on my skin this is a skin scent unless I spray many sprays. (Caveat is that this is from a tester atomizer so maybe the full bottle sprayer delivers better distribution.) Regardless of all that, though, this is a lovely fragrance if you love jasmine, more feminine than unisex to me, that I think would be appropriate for any situation - day, night (unless you want to make a glamorous impact, in which case it's too weak), any season, office, casual, formal.

Fine, fine fragrance. Soft, yet enduring. Jasmine takes the cake so it was a matter of wearing multiple times to get past what seemed like a simple sweet jasmine scent and to better understand what it was meant to accomplish. Although it's called Jasmins Marzipane, the almond accord used in here is not a fluffy, sweet marzipane. It's a green almond leaning bitter, much like that found in Elie Saab Le Parfum L'Eau Couture. If you're expecting JM to deliver on the promise of its name you may be disappointed to discover it is not a gourmand jasmine. It's an understated beautiful floral. Softly sweet, smooth refined, hinting at almond in its unripe form, but never fully going there,. Well worth the buy for quality alone if you are a fan of jasmine fragrances. Or bitter green almond. Or vanilla, cause there's plenty of that in here too. All of this sits on a soft, pillowy cloud of fine woods and musk. Projection is average the first several hours then becomes a personal scent. Longevity is outstanding, going 12+ hours on me before becoming a true skin scent. Simply stunning.
