Oud Ambroisie

My gosh, where to begin... I now have 5 from this line in my collection: Roses Berberanza Oud Bouquet Oud Ambroisie Santal Kardamon Magnolia Rosae Still hoping for: Lavandes Trianon Now open to try: L'Autre Oud Figues & Agrumes Now back to this review... It does smell like Roses Berberanza, however its a less denser version. Its still full and lasts over 12 hours, no where as light-hearted as Rose Rouge by Van Cleef & Arpels though. But this is a honey-oud, patchy, bright and sparkly, even a bit fresher than I would have imagined concoction. It is strawberry like for sure too, not sure why but I wont complain. I dont think it smells like the dry down of R.B because R.Bs dry down in my opinion is very tart and less dense at that point. Obviously its very sweet and less fruity and powdery than R.B., no funky opening either. Its very oudy, so of you love oud like I do, you'll be very pleased. I think I can say that if you are severely turned off by the opening of R.B, this might be a better substitute. In comparison to Oud Bouquet, O.B is much sharper and denser and little bit medicinal to me (still love it), I have never smelt the chocolate/prailine unfortunately, (though I can sense it if that makes sense...). All 3 of these are comparable to each other in my opinion, with O.A being the lightest, followed by O.B, then R.B. Get all 3! Lol you wont regret it. I think I could only wear O.A in the summer. But I always seem to get perfumes in the summer, it will be interesting to experience this in fall and winter.

Honey is a tricky note for me depending on how it's used in a fragrance but when I tried Oud Ambroisie on my skin, I was shooketh! This is definitely all about the honey - thick, concentrated, syrupy, rich, golden honey and the oud, which is sharper than it is in the other ouds from this line (but is far from skanky). The rose here is a shy note, content to lurk in the back ground, letting the other notes shine, for a change (Maison Lancome line is truly masterful in the different ways in which they have show cased the rose note). I also pick up on something tart that cuts through the sweetness of the honey and would not be surprised if there is citrus note in there however, I cannot quite discern what it is because this a beautifully blended fragrance. To me there are vague similarities between Oud Ambroisie and the dry down of Roses Berberanza, which is not surprising since they both share the notes of honey, oud/wood, roses and cedar. However the difference, to me, is that Roses Berberanza is more rose centric while Oud Ambroisie focuses more on the honey and oud notes. I personally prefer Oud Ambroisie simply because I am not fond of the opening on Roses Berberanza (but I do love the dry down). Longevity and performance is amazing, in keeping with most from the ML line. Even though I would not say this is a safe buy, I, for one, am glad to have OA in my collection.

Yes! I have found an exquisite honey fragrance. This is honey done right; it's realistic & perfectly supported by a well-mannered oud. Rose & patchouli play subtle supporting roles. The cedar blends in invisibly. This is wonderful & unique. This fragrance, aside from being in an absolutely gorgeous bottle– with a magnetic cap!--tells a story. It evokes a Greek myth of wayward, bedraggled sailors who stumble upon an impossibly perfect place– an island perhaps– populated by beautiful & friendly women. Their gracious hosts provide the lost men with an evening of exquisite delights– wine, honey, & much-needed company. They cast a spell over their guests... the men inevitably become their captives. The moral of the fable is to be wary of things too alluring, too sweet, too intoxicating. The fable doesn’t warn against being the one who lures— and Oud Ambroisie does just that. The performance is good; the sillage is strong, but becomes a whispering, lingering siren song after a few hours.

Sparkling oud like that of champagne, something is definitely missing in the notes listed but I can't quite put my finger on it. It's light but also viscus at the same time, definitely not a barnyard oud but I wouldn't consider this a safe blind buy if you aren't acquainted with oud. This actually makes me salivate and I have no clue why which is quite odd as this isn't a gourmand, it's got a very tart accord that is reminiscent of a raspberry absolute dessert. The rose is in there somewhere but everything is masterfully blended it's extremely difficult to decipher. Ilias Ermenidis is a master and deserves so much more credit!!! 11/10

phrogfrau --- Your review is the reason I just ordered a full-size bottle of this online. I also like oud scents where the fruit has the leading role! That is what I have been searching for all this time. Happy to hear about longevity as well. I am grateful that you took the time to write about your experience or I would have just overlooked this one. I will update this review as soon as I receive it. UPDATE: I received this and it is truly the BEST oud I have ever smelled! This is absolutely stunning. I am going to buy another bottle in this line asap. LOVE!

I love most of the Maison Lancome range aside from one or two of their releases which I am sadly not a fan of, namely Iris Dragees and Orange Bigarades. To my nose Oud Ambroisie shares the same DNA as Roses Parfait, Berberanza and Oud bouquet. That syrupy quality carries through to this fragrance, as though the three above mentioned beauties have morphed into one, along with a shot of honey. The honey gives it more sweetness than Berberanza, and the Oud keeps it exotic. Great sillage and longevity, recommended. Thanks for reading,

When honey and oud are combined, it is exactly a sweet whiskey scent. It also has a balsamic feel and is not suitable for blind buying. Rose is quite in the background. A gourmet unisex fragrance regardless of gender. In addition, the honey note here gives a completely chestnut honey vibe, not a flower honey like in JPG Scandal, Elie Saab Le Parfum Intense.

This is such a gorgeous fall/winter/evening scent. I'm mostly picking up a spicy, smoky honey with a hint of oud. If you're an oud lover, it may not be oud-y enough for you, but I adore it- Then again, I'm one of the fiends that loves super sweet perfumes like La Vie est Belle, BonBon, and Crysal Noir. Definitely not a blind buy.

This is a luscious, rich honey and well-behaved oud combo. I can barely detect the rose which is ok since I have the other roses from the Mason Lancome line and was worried about it being too close to those. Lovely and unusual and in my opinion completely unisex.

Oud Ambroisie, Maison Lancôme (Brought, USD 240, special support from my community friend, thank you) Oud Ambroisie, Maison Lancôme is Amber-Woody fragrance (imho). I have Oud Ambroisie for a big while, maybe half year ago. My bottles got 2 metal plate. the rose with bee one and name and details of fragrance one. They seem redesign the bottle, tbh - I like the new one better. After let it sit for a big while, I think right now it smell better than when it was newly open. Oud Ambroisie open with thick, sweet mild acidic undertone like actual honey. However, it is somehow contains beewaxs like note. It is not strong as "Bee by Zoologist" but it is pleasant experience, more like Wild Honey to my nose. Then, the Rose is slowly build up like, Rose is dipping in a jar of honey. The rose accent is minimal; not a star of a show like I wish. But it is still rather unique and beautiful rendition of Oud fragrance. The scent stays here in this for a while, syrupy honey rose combination. On a platform of Cedar and Patchouli. The honey / rose slightly lost its syrupy thickness. Reduce to beeswax with Honey tint, on cedar and patchouli in this very mild dirty. I finally smell something resemblance of Oud here at long last. But I don't think this contains any real oud, and that "Oud-like" material is very mild. It is ok, unnormal take on Oud-Rose fragrance but the rose shows up less than I would call so-call Rose-Oud, it glimpses there but nothing prominent. I could grab this from time to time and consider the late oud/rose blends. Maison Lancome still hold up the candle of sweet-oud segment. If you would like to spice up your Thick Ambery Oud-Rose game. This is also another one I would suggest. Score 8/10 Projection : Moderate Strong Longevity : 8+ hours plus (but honey lost it charm around 3-4 hours post wear, you still got nice woody base tho). Classification : Femme Summary : The unique take Honey-Rose-Oud ================= Update 1 on September 12, 2024 When it reach really far dry-down like 6 hours post wear. The is an incense woody base that find it might slightly too smoky. And that's slight leans masculine imho. Still pleasing but mis-leading.

This beauty really smells different on everyone. I’m wearing in winter and it’s been a few days since it arrived. I honestly get no oud at all. Which makes me sad. It must be there but my skin isn’t singing it’s notes. (Fair skin normal oiliness though probably drier due to winter). On me it’s a clear singing honey. Very sweet but like honey syrup rather than spreadable honey. Refined, almost fruity which is rather unique. Next up is a sharp pink rose (not jammy) but very clear which is holding hands with a green patchouli. It’s crisp and sharp and lightly spiced without the dark moody tones I was hoping for. That said it’s very beautiful and I’m not unhappy. I think I get a more rounded out feel of woods in the bottom. But nothing obvious. I have a decant of Roses Berberanza which is actually a lot deeper on me than this one. More obviously rosey but with the liquored sweetness and what I read as warm, wet, honeyed hay in the opening (no nuts or feet🤣).... You can feel the relation between them...though no oud for me as yet. Lovely. Will try again as seasons change and see if that affects anything. Edit: July 2025 it’s gotten stronger and can only be worn in winter for me. It feels more balanced then. Now I get a rich realistic strawberry covered in a pourable honey that moves inwards to a bright rose and white woods type of scent. Rather yummy. Still no oud for me however.

Potent woody rose with a strawberry effect, which lends it freshness and although it is synthetic in its feel, there is an interesting contrast. This must be the rose-honey accord. On me it feels like strawberry candy. it's an original and complex enough strawberry to demand multiple sniffings. In fact sometimes I find myself craving it. Eternal lasting power. Lovely woody base, occasionally the fragrance morphs and gives off a fruity smoky wood note, like oud chips burning. Not quite gourmand but still mouth watering. Easy to wear, great fall scent. Doesn't get boring. This is in the style of sophisticated fruity florals, in another world this perfume could be a Petite Robe Noire flanker.

If you like oud Bouquet, Poison edt, Mancera Red Tobacco and Tom ford Black Orchid than you will most definitely like this. Louder and longer lasting than oud Bouquet , smokier, but i feel a spice smoky honey and oud. Lovely, even longer lasting than oud Bouquet or Black Orchid. The beast of the beasts on sillage and longevity but....clearly for the spicy oud lovers ,emphasis on oud.

Dont leave me... where are you? I can only savor the decant for minimal days, I need this honey in my life. One of my absolute favorite Grand Crus fragrances - okay, im only familiar with 2, but definitely one of my absolute favorite ouds and I do have several. Oh my goodness this fragrance is amazing. AMAZING

Very unique scent the combination is great and gives an unusual scent it keeps changing over time, definitely not for everyone but it’s great one, strawberry car freshener , honey toast, strawberry jam and all the things said can be smelled but it’s really unique fragrance, give it a try

I bought it very cheap from a collecter like 40-50 $ or something like that it's suitable more for womans but also ok with guys when I wear it my friends liked it much.

An Arabic honey scent. Oud Ambroisie is dominated by honey from start to finish, supported by an oriental combo of rose/oud that exist mainly to shape the honey note than to be overt themselves. Honey but not very sweet. It's rather a rosey honey smell with a touch of classy woody notes. Unisex, mature, cold weather scent. Great performance like most of this Lancome line. "Like"

Well, I know this line of Lancome perfumes is not for me. Apologies to all that love this scent. For me, but this represents what happens when a perfume is made with cheap ingredients.. This is the 4th or 5th scent I've tested from this crop of Lancome perfumes, and none of them are working on my skin. An overtly synthetic strawberry air freshener is present in the opening, then a weird chemical concoction appears, masquerading as oud in this potion. I will give props that this composition is a solid performer - both in projection and longevity. But I couldn't wait to wash this off. Yuck. It's just gross. And charging $200 a bottle? Pass.

I wanted to love this one so much, but to me it smells too much like patchouli. It's a honeyed patchouli, with a little bit of a spicy oud and a bit of rose. That's all I smell. I guess the fruity smell that others are smelling is from the honeyed patchouli which gives the perfume a watery/metallic vibe to my nose. I don't think I can get used to it.

The honey in this is definitely a gourmand, pourable honey. At first spray it actually smells more like maple syrup to me. After a few moments that rich honey comes through with a razor sharp spiciness from the oud. Overall this scent is not for me but that honey is beautiful and I am grateful to this scent for helping me figure out that I simply don’t like the smell of oud, as it goes straight to my throat and makes me sneeze. An important lesson in my fragrance education!

This is all about oud, honey & rose. It's very sweet and dense. The honey in this is a jammy honey I have never smelled before yet it's still familiar in comparison to some of the other fragrances in the Maison Lancome line and how they are made..well at least the sweeter Rose one's. So when I say jammy honey I literally mean a honey so sweet it smells like it could be a jam that you eat on toast that's dense, sweet and on the verge of syrupy like a red berry marmalade. And Oud Ambroisie doesn't compare to the honey in Zoologist Bee. This goes in another direction with the honey being jammy versus being a realistic honey in Bee that smells like the honey, beeswax and honey comb. Yet, it's still a very good and unique sweet honey if you like jammy fragrances just like Maison Lancome's Roses Berberanza. And I thought that one was sweet, but this goes even sweeter. This honey blend's with the Oud for those who love their stronger oud's hand's down and not for the faint of heart. You can smell the rose blended in to bring in that sweetness with the honey along with the woody cedar & patchouli to make this a type of unique sweet middle eastern, balsalmic blend. This stuff is intense. Like the sweetness you smell or taste in a hookah no lie or some sweet piped middle eastern tobacco. But note, you must love gourmand and oudy fragrances to love this and you should sample it as it's not for everyone and you may find this blend very different or challenging. But if I had to pick between L'Autre Oud or this I would totally go for this because it's more interesting and much sweeter with the oud and different but I do own both and like both because I like oud fragrances even the dense one's if I can pull it off. I really love this for how dense, sweet and unique this is. I know this will not be for everyone but this is one that will strike your interest to test it for sure to see if you like this enough to buy it. Oud Ambroisie is a strong fragrance that last's and has good sillage and should be used sparingly 1-2 sprays max & depending on the temperatures outside because it's so dense and sweet. If these notes are up your alley or you love the collection grab it fast just to have it because it's been discontinued.

Selling my bottle with the box. I bought directly from the Lancôme website, like new condition, I only sprayed a couple times to test. This is a masterpiece, specially as it has had time to macerate over the years. Reminds me of Havana Vanille. The honey here is rich almost like a honeyed cognac with a touch of smokiness and a beautiful rose petals lingering in the air softly. The cognac, tabaco/incense notes are not listed but I can definitely pick them up. I was going to keep it since I do have 4 scents of this collection but is just sitting there looking beautiful without any use... this is a discontinued collection now so I also was going to keep it for those reasons but it would be a waste to just keep it and not use it. If I had colder weather where I live you would be reading just how beautiful this is but unfortunately I have mostly hot weather here and this is why I’m also willing to part from this. I bought this and sent it back a day later. I love the perfume, but it was neither that unique nor long-lasting, which I've come to expect from the Maison Lancome line. For those trying to figure out what this could smell like, well it smells like a wonder child of Rose Barberanza, Parfait de Roses, and Oud Bouquet, with some pure honey thrown in. On my skin oud played out more like leather, in fact, I got no oud at all. I had to come back here to double-check and see if leather was one of the notes listed, which it is not. Oud Ambroisie ended up smelling almost identical to BDK Creme de Cuir on me, just a tad sweeter. And I could have lived with this, but the longevity is quite poor, and projection is zero, so if you like people to smell perfume on you when you enter the room, this is not for you. Far cry from RB, OB and PdR from the line, regarding the staying power and projection. However, very pleasant while it lasts, which is not for good, and very much unisex, my husband liked it too!

I think Oud Ambroisie shines in cooler, fresher weather. The honey isn't an animalic beeswax to my nose, it's fruity and slightly boozy- like tea with honey and a splash of rye whisky. The oud is adds touches of smokiness and leather in the base. The rose is the magic in this fragrance, it melds with the honey and woody facets perfectly, while staying slightly fresh and powdery (incense powdery, not cosmetic powdery). I wouldn't use more than two sprays because I think I'd get choked out. I also think Oud Ambroisie could trigger headaches in warmer weather. I haven't smelled anything else like this, and glad to have it in my collection. Update: This is so strong, there's no way I'll go through a bottle of this one in my lifetime. Took a decant and rehomed the bottle.

This and initio addictive vibrations are pretty much one and the same. An oudy,, honeyed rose. I think initio is possibly louder in the opening, however, they both project and have great lasting power. But if the deciding factor is presentation (and/or price), then Lancôme is the clear winner and ultimately I favored this one and have in my possession a full bottle. I absolutely love this!

I don’t understand how everyone is getting the strawberry note. I get honey, honey more honey and rose, all with an oud/woody background. It’s a perfume which I need to be in the mood for, certainly not for warm weather, but it does work in cold weather when I feel like being wrapped in a slightly animatic warm honey.

jaw-droppingly gorgeous! Rich, creamy, swirling, honeyed, fruity, smooth oud and woods, with just the slightest veil of rose. The honey and fruity note play the lead role and I love that. Outstanding longevity - I sprayed it the early evening the night before and could still smell it on my skin the next day.

wow i did not like this one at all. i like 90 percent of maison lancome but this one was a big no. it totally smells like gasoline to me...at least the opening did. its gets a little better towards the dry down. but i just cannot get past that gasoline vibe!

To my nose, I definitely smell Rose, but a sweet honey dipped rose, mmmm smells sooo good!! Some oud, yes, but in the background because I mostly smell that honeyd Rose scent! This is definitely everything I ever wanted in a perfume!! My signature!

Absolutely gorgeous honey, this perfume is a love at first sniff and goes straight to my beloved list. Gorgeous, magical, harmonious, sweet, honey, caressing your skin and smells just like a fairy tale. Pure magic.

Rose honey and oud amber. It's not the usual oud rose blend but more of sweet nutty roses and amber with tiny oud. No patchouli so far but more of amber oud and rose. Nice so far.
