Eclat d'Arpege Pour Homme

The first mistake that anyone makes when looking at this perfume is to imagine that it is a variation of Arpège Pour Homme (2005). The starting point for understanding Éclat d'Arpège Pour Homme is to know that this creation was launched as the ideal pair for Éclat d'Arpège Eau de Parfum (2002). That said, don't get carried away by the lavender tone of the juice, which can make you think of a soapy fragrance, just like it happened to me when I quickly made a pre-conceived connection with the image of Prada Amber Pour Homme. Big mistake! Éclat d'Arpège Pour Homme is a box of surprises, which opens with a scent of aquatic fruits (melon/watermelon), even when its composition screams for citrus and refreshing juiciness. Then, quickly the nuances of the violet leaves appear, but they don't bring on that usual green and herbal smell. Here, the aspect of sweet violets merges with jasmine and the fragrance takes on a more feminine direction, but it does not get to jump over the fence and behaves unisex. Over time, the sun seems to come out from behind the clouds and the fragrance opens up again, with cedar and musk dictating the rules. Éclat d'Arpège Pour Homme is a hidden treasure, which conquers as we wear it. And the more you wear it, the more you want to wear it. For this reason, it is a strong candidate for a signature scent, in addition to being able to unite a little of what every man likes: citrus, aromatic and fruity, with an irresistible dose of comfort. And even if the output does not convince, the evolution surprises. To improve, it has excellent performance, even though it is not a bomb, and it does not embarrass the older guys, although it has a more youthful profile. Okay, the bottle is ugly, but the cap is interesting. And since we shouldn't judge a book by its cover, there is a remaining consistent compliment: Éclat d'Arpège Pour Homme is the ideal pair of Éclat d'Arpège Eau de Parfum. And if you have both perfumes and have no problem with that fence that I mentioned earlier, it is worth mixing the fragrances on your skin.

This was a surprise for me. I liked the women's version and had been gifting it to women in my life. If there's a dumb reach for gifting, women's category it's the Eclat d'Arpege for women. I've also sneaked a few spritz, maybe worn it myself a few times. With that preface, I've been hoping they'd release a pour homme. I know the vintage/original Pour Homme is highly rated, reviewed and coveted, it's just I don't have means of getting it. This juice hasn't received much attention, negative or positive. There are just one or two reviews on youtube and the number of reviews here is also meager. Maybe they released this just for me? This is salty without being marine. The citrus has that tartness and sourness that isn't distracting. Take the Pour Femme's base, add some woods then add a dash of sharp citrus and voila, Eclat D'Arpege Pour Homme. The combination of violet leaf, musk and citrus creates that briny accord. This has a sense of comfort and sensuality. Think of a guy with the sweetest smelling sweat. Nothing pungent or rank. It's a clean sweat that has dried for just a few minutes. Bordering on feminine for some, this comes off as a muted metrosexual if ever there is one. I like it! There!

All the sophisticated citrus / aquatic haters will be quick to dismiss this one as 'just the next fresh run-of-the-mill summer scent', but I've come to find that you have to buy what you yourself enjoy smelling rather than relying on some 'experts' noses. Lanvin Eclat D'Arpege pour Homme was a surprise hit for me. It lasts longer than most summery scents, has very decent projection and a very modern violet / mandarin blend with neither standing out too much (maybe just a little more citrus-y than violet-y). A hint of cedar freshness gives it the 'pour homme' monicker, but it could easily be a unisex scent as well. If you're a brute whose idea about perfumes is 'sweet and loud till them panties drop', that's obviously not for you. This is a modern urban scent (girls will still love it) and if you feel comfortable in that role -- and are not against this EdT's slightly feminine delicacy -- it would make for a great addition to your summer wardrobe. 8/10

Unique. I own over 130 scents. I don’t own anything that smells like it. A Security Officer co-worker was wearing it, and I had to find out what it was so I can make the purchase. You definitely get the watery violet throughout, but it’s different compared to those in its category because of the violet/jasmine combo, which is a little more daring for a men’s release and definitely unisex. To be honest it probably leans ever so slightly more to the feminine side, but I don’t care. I like it. Either way, I consider Eclat d'Arpege a classy smell for the price point. This one would make a perfect formal summer wear. Fans of violet should really be checking this under the radar gem out. It lasts all day and regenerates hard when your body heat turns up. Go easy. 8.5/10

This is an easily likeable scent. It smells like a man in a business casual linen shirt, or like a guy going on a casual lunch date. It is very nice and versatile! I think men of all ages can pull this off. The initial spray is citrusy in a way that it is not athletic, but rather crisp; like fresh from the shower. It is then mixed with the main character of the fragrance, which is a classy and modern masculine floral note that is fresh, reminds me of a juicy melon or something (maybe that’s why it’s ozonic), with just a hint of woodiness. It is a modern fragrance with a good sillage, not overpowering. In a colloquial term, it is “low key handsome”. It can be a good first fragrance for a teen (rather than some body spray), or a gift for your husband.

Before anything else, I just wanna say that the performance on this is INSANE on my skin. It's still lingering on my skin with minimal projection after 16 hours and I even took a bath in the middle of that! I can still smell it on my skin even after 20 hours. Now, this is the ultimate Metrosexual fragrance. It starts with a citrus floral pop, quickly settling to a lovely, almost childish sweet floral drydown. First whiff, you think of a feminine fragrance. Second whiff, you start to notice that it has a woody base that tells you it's a masculine fragrance. Third, you start to realize that this is an absolutely elegant, pretty boy fragrance. If you don't give a f about the outdated societal standards of some people, go for it.

Incredible perfume that blends citrics with florals. It really plays within the limits of a femenine perfume. Its freshness is amazing. I can feel it almost all day long, but I don't think people around me can, unless they're really close. Feels elegant, expensive (as in balanced, with quality ingredients), fresh (as I've already said) and young (I don't mean it is for young people, but it kind of make you feel/smell rejuvenated). I wont go into the details of its notes since I don't feel capacitated for that. PS: It's my first review, so sorry if I'm not too technical, I wanted to write from how it makes you feel.

This is an excellent freshie. Starts fruity, slightly salty and juicy, I do get mostly bergamot and a salty melon like accord. It gets more floral, definitely unisex in the mid with some violet leaf, that makes the scent airy and ozonic, super transparent. The drydown has more of a clean soapy musk feel to it while ambroxan is definitely there too. Interestingly enough, I'm reminded of Tygar and Sauvage when I smell this. I think the ambroxan mixed with the citrus put them in the same ballpark. I have to admit too that despite the price, I would take Eclat d'Arpege which is more pleasing and balanced to my nose.

I found it locally at a perfume store in the mall (double the price online) and when I found out, I contemplated returning it (or exchanging it) I decided to wear it once, and man... what a keeper. Am I upset at the crazy price inflation from this shop, yes... Does it smell like a $60+ scent, oh yeah... Have had it on for 4hours and my wrists are still giving huge wafts to my nose. Amazing dry down, super fresh, green, then musky. Total win IMHO, and very unique compared to some of the other "safe" summer scents. It is my go to over Versace man eau fraiche, dylan blue, ferragamo F pour homme etc

This is one powdery yet an airy fruit punch! You can smell the Mandarin on Its opening and thx to Bergamot and Lime, it give the opening a twist - bitter yet creamy and it stay like that for a while. Then it dry down into flowery and musky - almost true to the Sandalwood. I believe it is great for any occasions as its not offensive, mature. Id say great for men at their early 30's - mature and dreamy. Not to plain nor dull. I agree, this perfume is a hidden gem. In a world where most fresh men fragrances are sweet and ambroxian - this however is refreshing!

What a beauty! Violet leaf, citruses and musk with green nuances. Aldehydes and dihydromyrcenol heavy, mainly a mandarin-lime combo which is lifted by the violet leaf and modifiers possibly helional. Yet this is not an ozonic woody citrus like CK one or AdG, this is oily, tenacious earthy citrus! The wood in the base acts as a fixative together with the musk, sandal and some virginia cedar. It smells of naturals like lime EO and bergamot EO. Fresh, sparkling and long lasting, a freshie lover's dream for year-round use, and so uplifting!

This was a blind purchase. I read reviews that this fragrance was a little too feminine for those men with fragile masculinity. Anyway, it smells really good. It has that clean, sweet, reliable scent that you can wear anywhere, any time of the day. If I had one complaint about this, it would be that it has poor sillage but the longevity is amazing. I spray my perfumes on my clothes and when I am doing my laundry, I can still smell this on my clothes. Give it a try! Scent: 10/10 Longevity: 10/10 (tip: spray on clothes) Sillage: 6/10

Unique and classy. I haven't smelled anything like it before or since, and I have a pretty decent collection. One of the guys at work received it as a gift from his squeeze. I was immedatly intrigued and had to find out what it was so I could wear it too. Some say it's overly feminine, but I think it walks more of a unisex line. Eclat d'Arpege is the perfect add on to any wardrobe at a steal of a price! This could be Lanvin's greatest men's creation, if not the industry's best sleeper. Male elegance in a modest glass bottle.

I am a woman and I wear Eclat. Even my mom loves the scent. It is an unusually floral masculine scent, but absolutely beautiful. I see some people say it is "sweet". There is nothing sweet about it, in my opinion. It is floral, aquatic and ozonic. To me, the floral side dominates. The longevity is very good. On clothes, it can last for days. If you are a man and want to wear something that stands out, but in classy way, not in a lous and brash way, I would recommend giving Eclat a try.

This is the perfect match for the female version. Astounding fragrance. It does project, but in a very ethereal way. I actually think silage is very good, and so is staying power. Even when you seem not to be able to smell anything on the skin, it keeps radiating. That is what every fragrance should be like. It radiates a sweet, fresh, transparent, marvelous scent. And it seems to me very sophisticated, not a simple scent. It does make me happy and I never tire of it. Magic.

Great fresh aquatic floral. Long lasting, very much so and it’s actually surprising since it’s so fresh. This is a great fragrance , not just for the price but if you want a fresh , year round fragrance that lasts this could be a great option. It is 100% unisex too. I think if you like stuff like the MYSLF line you will like this, although this has a lot more depth and not as clean focused. It has this aquatic base and fresh florals that remind me a bit of L’Homme libre.

As a woman, I like wearing this in summer, in high heat. The drydown is beautifully clean, with a touch of floral. It makes me feel put together, fresh and clean when it's scorching outside. I was surprised to find that it has quite good longevity. It's not overly masculine, so it's easiy wearable by women too. If you're a woman who dislike sweetness I her summer fragrances, this one is for you. For its price, it's a real bargain.

This scent is truly special! Beautiful fresh and floral fragrance, with above-average performance, at least on my skin. Slightly unisex, it’s very well rounded in its composition, and to my nose it feels more natural and organic than a lot of popular freshies. Very nice. A bit light but it does last. Reminds me of Gentlemen Only. Eclat is really versatile too. Performance is moderate but it does stay as a skin scent for longer. To me, the top is odd, it looks like it's the top liner and the silver or black bit is missing. Overall, this is a sweet floral, fresh, soapy and very pleasant scent and I'm glad I bought it.

Super fresh and light fragrance. Longevity is very good. Unisex, urban, very modern, mostly Flowery, tropical, little citrus, aquatic summer vibes. Similar to Versace Versense, Acqua di Gio... Ideal for athletic young guys 15-40 years old. Women will love you. Nothing for MACHO men, Creed Aventus generation men...etc.

Just want to say this thing really smells great on skin... Like, 4.5hrs after going shopping, making dinner, now getting in bed, getting huge wafts, so amazing. Will try again in the morning to see how it is after a long day at work (in a hockey arena so will see how it does in cold lol)

Simple, light, crisp, & clean. The longevity on my skin is also great — I mean for something very light and airy this scent stays on for many hours, and on my shirt, days. I don't get the hate on the bottle design, I actually find it beautiful.

This gentle lovely floral scent puts me in a good mood. Too feminine, that's true but i like it anyway. Similar atmosphere to Carolina Herrera CH man chic, but this is more unisex whereas chic is masculine flowery.

Got many compliments because of this perfume , my first blind buy also, it's so GOOD and not offensive even if you overspray it. Definitely my favorite

This is simply a gorgeous, soothing but enticing fragrance. At the price it is superb value, and it has a quality, even expensive, air to it. Love it!

It's really pleasant - same family as Gentlemen Only. I love it

It's a nice violet leaf scent but it's missing something for me. I also think I smell aldehydes... there's something sharply sweet to it. It's bitter on drydown, like there's something a bit sour on it, and the jasmine + rosemary remind me of an aftershave. It's ethereal, you get whiffs for a good amount of time but it doesn't project a lot. It has a synthetic edge and i also don't like aldehydes much and I'm sure there's some here that add to the chemical feeling. It has potential but it felt flat to me 😑 The packaging is charming and you can get it discounted often, it would make a nice gift. Edit: I take everything back, I've been wearing it more with the weather getting warmer and more humid and oh boy that's where it shines, it's fruity sparkling and bubbly, the violet feels sweeter and that chemical vibe I used to get evaporates in like 5 minutes, definitely needs hot weather. Edit 2: After some months of use I will say it's nice for layering but I can't like it by itself enough to repurchase, there is something bitter on the background from beginning to end that clashes with everything else this cutie evokes to my nose, without that specific note it would be a love for sure.

I went on a bit of a Lanvin blind-buy binge, and bought this, Homme and Oxygene. I was most excited by L'homme but now after trying all three, I don't know which I like better. There is a subtlety and delicateness in all three that isn't exactly feminine, but they're definitely not uber masculine either. I also like that, even though they were developed many years apart, they do make sense as a collection. This is the sweetest of the bunch, and the life of it on my skin is lovely - gorgeous drydown once the sweetness is gone. I'm sure a lot of niche folk will sneer at this (and all the Lanvin's) but its a lovely wear. I live in Southern California, after many years in NYC, and I find myself more often reaching for a fragrance that has a vibe like these, or an Eau de Cologne type deal. To each their own, right? My great grandmother used to say 'you go to your church and I'll go to mine' whenever anyone tried to tell her what to do. That's kind of my current feeling about fragrance, where something like this is disregarded. I'm happy getting these cheap and cheerful new (well, new to ME) fragrances that give me variety, fit my style, and won't break the bank.

#301 in my "Tour de Fragrance" After Lanvin "L'Homme" and Lanvin "L'Homme Sport", two watery wastes of money, I sprayed on Eclat D'Arpege with the lowest expectations. The difference is clearly Givaudan designer Sonia Constant, who primarily does women's scents, but demonstrates here that she knows how to craft a fragrance that will appeal to both men and women equally. She's the nose behind some notable disappointments for me from Burberry and Narciso Rodriguez, but she's also crafted some winners like Jean Paul Gaultier Le Beau, Mont Blanc Emblem, Emblem Intense, and genuine triumphs of the first rank like Tom Ford Noir, Ombre Leather and Ombre leather Parfum. You go girl! This is of course a freshie: office, carpool and elevator safe. As with all freshies it won't last past lunch without a respray. With 175 EDP, Parfums and Extraits I've already collected on my tour, this won't get a second purchase from me (few EDTs will), nor for me is it even a keeper, but I'm certain one of the resident's of the men's shelter will really enjoy this delightful scent.

An underrated gem! Apart from this site I haven't seen anyone online mentioning this one so I had no expectations. I'm willing to bet that Alberto Morillas used Eclat d'Arpege PH as inspiration for making Versace Dylan Blue PH, using a similar DNA and made it richer and darker. Dylan Blue was the first thing this reminds me of because of the violet leaf. But, wow, this stuff smells really good for being so floral. Well blended and really shines in the first hour while the citrus notes are still present. Even the jasmine note compliments it well, and I tend to avoid perfumes with jasmine. It makes me think of laundry detergent, but no one has ever said they hate the smell of clean laundry. I go noseblind after 2 hours so I'm not sure how long this one lasts, doesn't seem to be a large sillage. Definitely unisex friendly.

Despite the color, this really isn't very blue. There is a soapy, unscented sunscreen to this that goes from start to finish. It is neither good nor bad, but it is persistent. Around that flits bright citrus on the top and mandarin, amazingly, at the long-term base. Seriously, this is going on 11 hours and the 6 sprays I did this morning are still wafting lightly but quite strong NDS. I get a zesty, ginger-like mid, a Dylan Blue-type violet entered around hour 4 with nice effect, and the sandalwood base is very nice. Is it a standout? Well, no, there are plenty of this freshie type of fragrance. But the longevity, and the base (which manages to contain several well-blended accords that should have faded hours earlier) boosts this slightly above most. Happy to have this in my collection.

First off, it is a mellow, smooth and very pleasing fragrance. The citrus is tamed, which is nice. Unlike some other fragrances where they try to stuff a lime up your nostrils for good measure. Haha!! But I do enjoy this one a lot. However, there is a big problem: longevity. Even with 10 sprays, it is completely gone after 30 minutes or so. Seriously!! There is some serious "performance" issues going on, c'mon! I would spread about 3-4 sprays up my arms and wrists and I would get nothing by the 1-hour mark. My shampoo/shower gel lasts longer than that! Anyway, it is a good scent but the performance is just dreadful to say the least; maybe it is me because the fragrance goes anosmic to my senses fairly quickly.

This is the perfume that brings me into perfume's world! I tested it at sephora and brought it at duty free (I think sephora's goods at my country are too pricey.) This one captured my heart by its refreshing vibe. I got the mixture of citrus, aquatic, sweet and salty. The scent somewhat remind me of sea salt though it doesn't appear in the notes list, it perfectly fit the ad pics, right? Also, I don't care about the bottle design. I'm not plan to carry it and show to everyone anyway. Just enjoy the scent already! lol The only thing that bother me is its sillage that too soft for my taste. so... I over-spray it every time! MUHHAHA Ps. I mentally in High by the Beach - Lana Del Rey's MV when I wear this one.

Éclat d'Arpège Pour Homme is a fresh, aquatic, urban, and youthful fragrance. The opening feels dynamic—the kind of scent that makes you feel youthful upon application; it is very citrusy with a touch of aquatic or marine notes, even though these aren't officially listed. It gives me the impression of a refreshing lemon drink with sparkling water. I found the floral and herbal notes to be very faint—noticeable, but subtle. In reality, the citrus notes stand out the most, while the dry-down is very musky and woody; it is a fairly common profile, yet still pleasant. I find it to be a versatile fragrance, geared more towards a younger audience, with good longevity and moderate projection.

A violet twist to your usual fresh citrus fragrance. This is a very mass appealing, inoffensive, warm weather fragrance, I get more citrus than violet, and the violet is not the strong gasoline style of Fahrenheit. It smells more refined and less synthetic than your average designer of the same tier (Azzaro Chrome, Nautica Voyage). Aside from that the presentation is great, very appealing. Worthy of being considered a "Hidden Gem", I suggest you give this one a try, although it's safe and cheap enough to justify a blind buy.

This one is a hidden gem for those who like fruity smelling fragrances. It opens with a bitter citrus vibe, nothing putrid or rancid. It then starts to dry down and the flowers bloom beautifully with a simple powdery twist. When all said and done this has a fruity vibe to it that reminds me of fruit punch. Not sugary at all but watery juicy like a fresh fruit salad. It is very light , so you will have to spray extra and put it on your clothes opposed to skin. As always! Try it for yourself, everyone has different DNA!!!

I thought I made a comment on this one when I got in 2015, but I guess I missed it. I wore last year and today it the first time a I tried it again for this summer. I have totally forgotten how it smelled, but now I think it did a better impression in my memory. Is not a bad cologne at all, very fresh and sort of sweet but Summery, I like the fact that it has citruses on the opening notes but it does not feel too citrusy like Lanvin L'homme, I like both but this one is kinda easier to wear.

Fresh, clean and modern - Lanvin really does a good job with their mens. Not groundbreaking but very appealing and easy to wear. I turned my nose up at them for years because I only saw them in Duty Free. I know have this, Homme, Homme Sport and Oxygene - all easy to reach for in the warmer months. You don't need to reinvent the wheel and none of these do, but I find them miles better of any of the more recent 'bleus' that get the hype for a fraction of the price.

A pleasant citrus aromatic EDT, but nothing to write home about. That doesn't make it bad, it just makes it a very comfortable fragrance. The prominent citrus and violet leaf in the open reminds me of Eau de Cartier, but with better longevity. The violet leaf is the star here, it sustains from the open right through drydown, but doesn't get too metallic. I get good longevity of around 5 hours with moderate sillage. A very nice fragrance for everyday wear.

Certainly a hidden gem in a world of soo many unforgettable new smells. Nice flacon and great smell. Another winner from Lanvin. Also, it's good value for money. On my skin, however, I wish it performed a little better. I also like this as an occaisional office scent. It's not boring, and it's also just intresting enough without causing too much attention.

It is indeed similar to original feminine version, but little less flowery and harsh-woody instead. It is quite simple, yet cheerful. Not very grown-up in my opinion, but smart-casual. A lot of musk and violet leaves. The drydown also reminds me of Burberry Touch. Nothing groundbreaking but longevity and sillage are excellent.

A nice delicate spring, summer fragrance. Citruses, florals the main string. The opening is amazing. Unfortunately on my skin performs poorly. 4-5 hours on skin with one-hour projection. However on clothes I get 5-6 hours. For the price point a decent choice.

So this perfume was pretty strong on me. When I bought it, I just like the woody musky scent it had but I had no idea it would perform that well. I have since not smelled it so I don't know what the new bottles smell like but I liked it when I had it.

Haters gonna hate, but others must try this. Pleasant different citrus with nice woody drydown. Nothing like other generic synthetic citrus fragrances. Longevity on paper is really good.

This perfume is so fresh & fruity.It is so friendly and is suitable for whenever you want to visit your close friends. Good for men to have this perfume although i also have it:)

I have to agree with Memmaao. Although this does smell great, I find it to lean more feminine than masculine. I am surprised the votes on this one say otherwise.

Same realm as ysl l'homme libre. Not the same smell but has the same vibe. Maybe because of violet leaf note.
