Bois des Sables

It’s all about the wood...but my good, this wood is godlike! It’s dark and bright at the same time, like you’re standing in the middle of an enchanted forest and you see some sunlight ... all kinds of exotic woods with very nice vetiver and rounded by vanilla. Just a hint of it though, to round off the edges, it’s absolutely not dominating here. Both my husband and I love it! Ps I love anything Mugler indeed, and I normally do not “love” l’Artisan Parfumeur, but this is a pearl!

Patchouli, but gilded, smoothed, L'Artisan turns earthy materials creamy where others might leave it raw. It moves like molten wood, rich yet polished, its edges rounded by something almost buttery. If it can turn a patchouli skeptic into a believer, case in point: my patchouli-sensitive and picky mother, it must be doing something right. Not the most daring of woods, but undeniably persuasive—an argument for patchouli’s softer side, spoken in a voice as smooth as sanded oak.

A rose-free version of Halfeti? The opening replaces cardamom with patchouli. Ugh, I don’t even like oud, and this one has such a heavy oud presence...

This didn't live up to my expectations. I was hoping for big, clear, bright woods, and got...well, mostly vetiver.

Boring, smells like your typical sandalwood and woody fragrance. Marketing for an older mature woman that wants to say she wears a niche perfume. Smells like most of the things that are being produced nowadays, not cheap, not interesting, not remarkable.

Didn’t leave up to my expectations, all I feel is labdanum. It’s heavy and masculine.

idc if this is more of a male scent, the woody and clean smell to this perfume is so addicting to me. it also lasts longer than some of my more feminine perfumes, and is a good layer to both coffee break by maison margiela and penhaligon’s babylon!!

It's opening reminded me of Penhaligon's Halfeti but it doesn't have the earthy freshness that Halfeti has. I find Bois des sables has more sweetness. The middle notes are different from Halfeti... more vanilla-like.

not a complete comment here, just a quick note: although not in the notes, i detect a hint of cumin and i adore it.

it reminds me of a penhaligons scent but i can’t pinpoint which one...
