Fleur de Narcisse 2006

The official notes are: narcissus, hay, hyacinth, blond tobacco, iris, blackcurrant bud, moss and leather. Mimosa, apricot and water notes? I checked at least 8 different sources and nobody listed them. I will keep the sarcasm for myself and focus on the fragrance. This is not a conventional floral green, ethereal, innocent and summery fragrance. Neither a soliflore. This fragrance is an experience that doesn’t have class or category. I can associate it with an abstract painting. You can see the beauty from distance as it creates an impression. Up close might feel distorted. It starts green smoky with light wild flower notes and raw- striking tones of tobacco, hay and hyacinth. It feels very earthy and still sensuous in a unique way. After 30 min it changes to soft, feminine iris- narcissus tones, light powdery (iris powdery and not mimosa) and leathery. Unexpected combination but exquisitely beautiful. This fragrance is full of contrasts, starting with the composition and ending with the overall feeling. From distance is unique and soft; it makes you think about an effortless French style. From close it is full of raw dazing tones. But be prepared ... it will blow you away. For me it is like good coffee. Can I live without it? Yes. But do I want to? Absolutely, no. If you can’t afford it you should at least sample it. It is something you will meet only once in a lifetime. 9.99/10

Finally got my hands on one of these and it just knocked me over! It is now at the top of my substantial list of fine fragrances and I can only hope that by the time I use this bottle Anne Flippo will have been given another superior crop to turn into another special edition! Hay, honey, supple leather, blonde tobacco (and I've never before found a tobacco I could wear, this one is out of this world gorgeous), narcissus absolut and sublime iris to wrap up this elegant package. Earthy yet ethereal, just thinking about it I have to go apply!

A relatively accurate narcissus perfume with very poor longevity. It smells great to me, but not for this price. Not this longevity that's less than two hours.

This is my absolute favourite perfume, it is like hay and sweet tobacco, leather and juicy daffodils.

I wasn't sure what to expect from this fragrance but it smells like pure bottled sunshine, like standing in the middle of a field in the English countryside in summer, with the sun beating down and the grass all around just buzzing with life. The hay notes are prominent on my skin, particularly if I press my nose up close. From farther away, the scent is less distinct, more hazy, like the bending of light over hot summer pavements (and it has a little bit of the tar-and-tobacco smell that goes with such hot days). After an hour or so, I can smell the narcissus itself - a sort of earthy, rooty and slightly sweet smell. Now it's dew-damp grass on a spring morning and the leather I smell is not an animal hide scent, but the smell of the wet underside of leaves. It isn't a 'pretty' floral smell, but a bewitching one. If you're like me, you'll want to keep sniffing to trace every stage of its development - a marvel!
