Mechant Loup

Gray timber wolf, that got drunk, wondering among woods on its hind legs. The opening is very boozy and woody, but I also straight away detect nice hints of balmy-animalic fur scent, that truly makes me think of big animal, native to wilderness, walking on soft paws on mossy, herbal and moist soil. And I am not self-hypnotised here. Before deciding to go ahead and buy a FB I read reviews many times and what made me confident to go for it is that there is a certain group of ppl, who constantly complain on very bad silage and longevity of L'artisans and their "annoying concept, that don't worth the money", and myself, after being familiar with at least 12 other L'Artisan fragrances and never experiencing any problem with longevity (or better say ability to smell it) or - concept - I just realized that L'Artisan is simply MY house, I love all they do and how they do it, so it was the matter of trust really. Been never disappointed and I love Mechant Loup, just like I love forests and wolves, even though I remember plenty of times , when they have destroyed the roof or make a hole under my Grandad's hog pen at the farm, killing few sheep in winter. I was secretly wishing those bad wolves "bon appetit", while Grandad was cursing them, naturally. I was a bit worried about licorice, I didn't want it take central stage and to ruin sweet woodiness and it didn't happen, - it just adds tiny bitterness, like wormwood would, boozy and sweet from honey and praline, woody from hazel shrubs (rather than from hazelnuts), a bit of cedar and resinous myrrh and overall, good-mood attractive fragrance with pleasant balmy vibe.

For a time, this was my absolute favourite scent. It's what got me following the career of Bertrand Duchaufour, collecting his fragrances, and ultimately turned me into the frag-head I am today. The first thing I'd like to say about this scent is that I think Anglicising this as "Bad Wolf" is a huge mistake, as that makes it sound dark and threatening - the feel is much more "Naughty Wolf", a confident young wolf behaving badly, carrying the smell of woods and booze. "Bad", yes, but not "Big Bad Wolf" bad, more "cheeky/sassy" bad. I find myself returning to this scent all these years after my initial purchase, as I realised I never reviewed it, and I wanted to clarify the feeling I get from the name. Also, I should probably mention that it bears a striking resemblance to La Nuit de l'Homme by YSL, to the point where it could almost be a flanker - if you appreciate that scent, but feel like it needs a niche twist to set it apart, you will find this a pleasant and worthwhile buy. For me, my taste has gone much more aromatic/woodsy/green, warm leather, or slap-your-face citrus in the last few years, but on a cool-ish (ca.55-65° F) evening in the late spring, and all throughout summer and autumn, it's a catch.

The world is dark and, contrary to popular superstition, there is no moonlight to speak of. I hide amongst the wet, dead leaves of the forest floor, my hands grip the wet moss and there is fresh soil lodged in my fingernails. I am surrounded by groundfall apples...perhaps some strange hybrid of Cortland and something sweeter. I can smell the humidity in the air and my own cold-damp, frightened sweat. I pull deeper into the brambleberry brush, the last of the wild raspberries cling to thorny shoots. They nick my skin and I know that something is out there that can taste the drops of my blood in the breeze floating throughout the depths of this night. I can hear the chill. My leather gloves are no protection tonight. Something is hunting me; I grasp the musky fur as its largess pummels into me. There is hot breath, the sharp tang of teeth, and scratches so deep into my chest and arms that I cannot breathe. Mechant Loup has me is its grips. My red, woolen hood is shredded and will soon be wet with dew and blood. But is it the wolf's or mine?

Forêt de conte de fées. Senteur 9/10 Usage par journée d'automne pluvieuse pour cette merveille qui pourrait cependant lasser à force d'être portée. C'est un noisetier olfactif merveilleux : au lieu de vous promener avec l'arbre en entier - ce qui certes n'est pas pratique -, vous avez le concentré. Usage urbain, dominical de préférence : accompagnera fort bien une promenade en ville. Longévité 2/2. Sillage 2/2. Totalement en adéquation avec son usage. Vous diffusez sans agressivité. Masculinité 1.5/2 Ce parfum accompagne parfaitement ces journées d'automne à la lumière déclinante. C'est peut-être aussi un parfum un petit peu déprimant pour cette raison, comme une mélodie belle, mais un peu triste. Il est masculin, mais pas totalement sexué : plutôt dans sa version rassurante. Conviendrait plutôt à un homme déjà en couple. Evolution 2/4 Evolution qui semble s'appauvrir petit à petit passée les notes de coeur et semble de moins en moins original voire un peu lassant à force. C'est le défaut de ce parfum. TOTAL 16.5/20

I bought this fragrance blind, just for the name, when it came out in the late 90’s. As if judging (even worse, buying!) a book by its cover - don’t get it why so many people say it is something unwise to do? It can go awfully wrong, it can go very right, it is a 50/50 chance, which isn’t that bad? The most beautiful hazelnut note is the backbone of this, after all, somewhat honied wolf. There is no sharpness, no menace, there are no teeth. I read it as being the representation of the seductive, dandyish, enchanting nuances of Perrault’s take. The wolf you meet stray from path tends to have it all easy, no need to use strength, we are already taken by the distraction anyway? If I could make only one wish, I would have asked the liquorice note to play just a little something more subdued... all the rest I find magistral. Honey is right (not an easy note ever?), all the trees in these woods are right. L’Artisan Parfumeur is right, I am right. Long life to red ridding hood.

I really like Mechant Loup. Lightly sweet Honey-Hazelnut with sharp Licorice, on a Sandalwood-Cedar base. Unique. The licorice keeps it's sharp woody-root quality throughout. Refined, simple, and not too sweet. The Myrrh is so light that, to me, it smells a bit like light Amber more than it does of Myrrh, but occasionally it does give me a whiff of it's full Myrrh note. It's not Myrrh dominant, but the Myrrh contributes to the crisp Licorice note. The sharpness of the Myrrh-Licorice accord tames the sweetness down. There is a very light smokiness in the background, but it's not nearly as smoky as Tea for Two, it's just a background note. Excellent blending. Mechant Loup has really captured my interest, I keep going back to it over and over. I just had to buy this as my first L'Artisan fragrance. Another translation of Mechant Loup, in English, is 'naughty wolf'.

Méchant Loup is an olfactory tale in which the wolf does not seem so evil: it turns out to be rather charming, imbued with an elegant gourmandise and a woody depth which evoke comfort rather than fear. First it is the licorice, sweet, then the wood which adds a dry heat evoking the crunchy leaves of an undergrowth, and finally the honey which envelops everything with a gourmet and cocooning aura. However, everything remains perfectly balanced thanks to this woody base which prevents the perfume from sinking into excessive sweetness. This 'Bad Wolf' is a wolf disguised as a lamb: it is not threatening, rather welcoming and friendly to better achieve its ends. For my part, I really appreciated it.

This is one of those scents that keep surprising me, not because it changes much with time, but because I'm still amazed by how much I like it. Reading the reviews, it seems it has many variations according to specific skin chemistries. On me, the main actor in this scene is handsome licorice - deep, woody, semi-sweet and somewhat sensual. Accompanying him are some slight nutty notes, cedar and sandalwood, with just a touch of hunny. I can't smell any pralines and also can't say I'm sorry about that - this perfume is just perfect the way it is. Sillage starts a bit on the heavy side but quickly subsides. Longevity is mild to moderate on my skin.

This was a blind swap for me, and I knew that I'd love it because of the notes. I'm a gourmand fanatic, although my true loves are vintage orientals, and Mechant Loup completely satisfies both lemmings. It's a concept fragrance - gourmandish with a woody backbone and a creamy warm spiciness. I read a review that compares this to SL Jeux de Peau and I completely agree except this is a tad more masculine and a tad more spicy. I would say that if I wore Jeux de Peau and my boyfriend wore Mechant Loup, they would perfectly compliment each other. This is such a masterpiece and I can't stop sniffing my wrists!

On me this is a woody and smoky dream! I smell the licorice very easily early on, but not so much as it wears. I can't say that honey or hazelnut are prominent, but I believe they add to the overall woodiness and make the perfume sweet yet not gourmand whatsoever. I guess I can see how it relates to a forest with a big, bad wolf. It's green in a way, like a traditional fougere, but the smokiness gives it a dark, foreboding feeling. For me personally, it's more like a cozy, wintry, holiday perfume. Sillage is not very good, but the scent is so beautiful and unique that it is still worth it for me.

For the original bottle: Simply the most beautiful men's fragrance. Elegant, unique, it creates an atmosphere rather than a scent. It's like a sweet memory and a story about a tragic hero. A real treasure. The only problem is that it is incredibly weak and fleeting. I believe that the fragrance was reformulated and lost its delicate balance which was created with high quality natural ingredients. However this version does get better after a long time. I think my dark glass bottle smells better than when I got it.

this isn't an overly-sweet gourmand -- when applied wet, it reminds me of a spiced honey, drying down into a woody, slightly salty, dry and honeyed scent. it's delicious, but not quite sweet enough for me -- i gave my sample to my boyfriend, who is a much better fit for this scent! it smells delicious on him (his favorites are a*men and aerin amber musk), so it's still a winner -- just not for me, personally.

I can't agree with the 'Chinese Tortoise Jelly' smell more, I actually laughed. It also reminds me of the smell of Chinese medicine shop, and one kind of Chinese herbal drink, ' Licorice Tea'. If I wear this fragrance I think friends would ask me if I just went to the medicine shop or something, haha.. Anyway, I do love this fragrance. ;)

To me this is a more masculine Jeux de Peau. A woody gourmand that's completely wearable for any occasion. I was surprised by the reviews on here. I will say that the scent does not match the name or description for me, but I still enjoy this anyways! The opening is on the masculine side but the drydown is perfectly unisex.

Liciriced honey nut in wooden box. I take it as a gourmand scent. So lovely and unique. Performance is not so impressive, same as all other fragrances with prominant hazelnut note. I deeply fall in love with the warm and cozy feeling given by Mechant loup.I love Merchant loup and I love Bertrand too 😊

It wasn't love from first sniff for sure, but that is one of perfumes which you fell in love with time, wearing it day to day. It's very warm, comforting, yet cozy and sensual. It makes me think of man, mature and serious on first sight, yet with childish soul, sensitive and thin-skinned.

I expected a dark, animalic scent. Thanks God it is not. Mechant Loup is hazelnutty-sweet-woody perfume, not like a big bad wolf at all. I definitely want a full bottle from this.

one of the best fragrance I had. complex and very seductive, no end to it - it will seduce and mesmerize you at the same time. at the same time it is warm and comforting.

Had this lovely stuff. I tried it again yesterday and found it remarkable! Unfortunately for L'Artisan's perfumes; not enough longevity and sillage... 9/10

Adding to my previous review. Tried the reformulation end 2019. The thing is dead, Perrault's wolf is now a muffin bought at some tragic Starbucks' corner.

Mechant Loup is two parts easy and pretty, one part odd, and another part misleading. Let's start with the misleading part: the name literally translates to Bad Wolf. You won't find anything bad or evil, or animalic or canine here. In fact, I don't detect anything cognizent or even vaguely emotional in Mechant Loup. Now, on to one of the easy and pretty parts. The opening is an aldehydic, floral honey, and peppery anise melange that smells of cured pipe tobacco. The pepper is a bit fruity green, the aldehydes give a cured and powdery density, the honey is as bright as the sun and smells of sweet flower pollen, and the anisic note is the backbone of many tobacco accords. Despite these notes that are typically quite heavy and durable, the top departs fairly quickly to go to a wet earth and spicy heart that, to my nose, smells like immortelle and/or fenugreek. Licorice is not far off, but with the bright and sweet honey still slightly stringing down from the heart to coat the still-present anise, turning slowly to notes of sweet and unctuous toasted nuts, a myrrh note appears that knocks proceedings pleasantly off balance. Here is the one part odd. There are not enough notes "touching each other" to be immortelle, it's the same case for fenugreek, nor is the whole of the accord licorice, and I think the myrrh is to blame as it's trying to be steered towards its salty green resinous side but it doesn't quite make it there. Quite peculiar but very far from pushy. The base is the last part pretty, but it also has a bit of oddness. Damp mosses and woods are given a healthy dose of soapy white musks. Like the myrrh in the heart, the musks don't really seem to touch the other materials - like you're peering through a haze or a very thin curtain at mosses and woods on the other side. Interesting in a pretty way, and just odd enough to keep you going back to it out of curiosity. Bad? Lupine? No, hardly. A very pretty, quiet scene out of some unique natural setting is significantly more apt. Wearing Mechant Loup is never a special experience, but it is always a pleasant and quirky one.

Spotting Mechant Loup bottle on an unbelievable sale I felt a sudden urge to give it a try again after many years with an unfortunate memory of sickly sweet & artificial masculine scent, and the result was simply fantastic! I cannot believe I disregarded this perfume before (maybe the first sample was just foul). First of all, it seems verging on natural (it's L'Artisan Parfumeur, after all). Then, it can be unisex on the right skin, only slightly bending towards men because of heavy cedar and woody/herbal/perhaps aquatic???/aromatic/tobacco mystery (as not listed in ingredients). Everything mingles beautifully on my skin, showing woods, fresh nuts, green/herbal/wet undertones, tinted with a spoon of liquid honey and echoes of dry licorice. What I find particularly delightful is an apt presentation of both the dry and wet aspects of tobacco, reminiscent these sides of the same note in Tea for Two from the same stable and Herrera For Men accordingly. Reaching out for ML offers a nice sensation of sweetish refreshment and awakening of the spirit even in the middle of a winter stupor and fatigue. It makes me want to go for a long walk into a forest blanketed with snow to inhale the fresh and cool, damp air, far from the madding crowd, hoping in reckless daydreaming to meet a wild animal eye to eye just to experience the thrill. Modest, yet rather typical for L'AP scents longevity and intimate to moderate projection, depending on the amount sprayed on skin and clothes. Not my fave from the house, but definitely the good stuff!

If this is a wolf, it's a tamed, toothless one which has given up on feral life and just wants to be loved and cuddled and live out its days in comfort. Loup Doux maybe? Loup du Maison? I went into this with unreasonable expectations, and so got disappointed. That doesn't mean this scent is a waste of time - it's never less than pleasant - but it wasn't what I was hunting for through the woods. I was sniffing for a really atmospheric, nature-heavy walk through the forest with real notes of wood, bark, maybe even some dirt, something animalic, etc - but in the end this was just the very daintiest tinge of hazelnut (hazelnut flavour syrup, really, just as in one of those syrupy flavoured coffees you shouldn't really drink), doused in vague sweetness, and later, just rather generic cologne-ish-ness. I also had issues with feeble sillage and even limper longevity than usual for L'Artisan; it was just gone after 3-4h on my skin and didn't last much longer even if used on fabric. If you're after a specifically hazelnut note in a mild gourmand this may do the job, but if you're looking for a real walk on the wild side or really heavy wood, this isn't it. If we're talking wolves, then Rania J's Ambre Loup - in a different genre altogether, but even sweeter overall - would rip Mechant Loup to shreds and pick its teeth with the L'Artisan's bones.

For some reason, this doesn't remind me of a forest at all. For one, it doesn't have even a hint of pine, which is what I've associated forests with. But it has the most wonderful honey and hazelnut note I've ever smelled (and I'm not even a honey lover). I fell in love with this scent from the first spray. After two samples I just had to get a bottle. The opening (10-15 minutes) is not good on me; for some strange reason, I smell egg on my skin! Fortunately, this fades very quickly and all I'm left with is the honey and hazelnut with a little bit of licorice. It's fresh, it's uplifting and I especially love wearing it in spring or summer. It is mostly a masculine scent, but not one that a woman can't wear. While certainly not a perfume I'd put on a date or romantic dinner, I find it works great for work or outdoor activities. Lasting power on me is very good, up to 8-10 hours, but then I don't have problem with most L'Artisan perfumes as others do. It's their sillage that usually doesn't work for me, but in this case, even that is not so bad. It's quite strong for the first 2-3 hours and then stays closer to skin; but then don't most perfumes do the same? I just love smelling my wrist while wearing it. It makes me feel clean, refreshed and kind of mysterious at the same time:)

At first, it’s sandalwood. Then, the sweetness and nuts. By the time the licorice comes through, I want the recipe of this dessert I’ve never had. I am not sure if this gourmand produces too much of a Pavlovian response to be appreciated as a fragrance. I am just waiting for the woody/earthy notes, the myrrh, and the resins, but, they take a good 15 minutes to appear. Finally, I am getting a damp log cord by the woods, definitely decaying and autumnal. I am thinking this would be the ultimate Thanksgiving Day fragrance, matching the flavors (sweet and earthy) on the spread. But, I definitely prefer this fragrance after the first half hour, when the honey and hazelnut die down, and the myrrh starts to come through. I’m not precisely sure why someone decided to stick licorice into this fragrance. I guess it turns the wooded area into a pine forest surrounding a glacial lake...? All in all, this is delicious and lovely for special occasions and certain times of year, though I’m not sure I could turn this into an every day favorite. EDIT: I just read that this is supposed to be a masculine fragrance and that makes sense. As a feminine fragrance this might be a little too intense.

This is a very light and extremely pleasant Artisan. I don't know why it's considered masculine and not unisex. On me it smells herbal, dry, woody, green. Nothing gourmand like the notes would suggest... I smell no hazelnuts or honey in it, and pretty much all I can sense is absinthe. And it isn't even listed as a note. Well, I was trying to think what it could be it reminded me of, and I got it. It's Mugler's A Travers Le Miroir. I guess my skin really picks up the absinthe note. Gorgeous although I think it should be stronger and longer lasting. Still, the quality of materials is obvious, the result it calming and natural. Recommended for any occasion except nights, as it lacks the "sexy" or "sensual" element; perhaps for that reason, I find it a little sad... and the lonely wolf comes to mind, the one that doesn't mix with the pack. the wolf that hunts and lives alone, lost in its own cold and misunderstood world... which is so "me", on occasion.

I do feel a bit like Gretel or Little Red Riding Hood--or perhaps one of the three little perfume piglets--lost in a thicket of trees with no way to escape as the scent of L'Artisan Parfumeur MECHANT LOUP envelops me. Strong, dark, and insistent, this fragrance is only for gents who wear their scents with pride. Don't ask me how myrrh, licorice, hazelnut, sandalwood and cedar notes combine here magically to re-create the aura of a forest, but they do! Some of the trees have been felled, so green and brown leaves and needles, along with freshly exposed wood are all represented in this composition. An invigorating and formidable force to be reckoned with--or else! This dark and spicy creation has excellent longevity, but I suspect that the sillage might be too much for some--certainly no need for wrist sniffing to remind the wearer of its presence! The drydown seems a tad on the masculine side, but I wouldn't mind smelling this again--now and then.

I'm not usually a big appetizer of male scents (Mechant loup is not one of those fragrances born to man but also portable by a woman, I would say that it is masculine) but this has struck me because I find it very sexy. At first you will notice a fougere aroma of a certain personality, in which you feel bitter cedar, licorice and aniseed background. Everything seems to have quite reassuring intentions, such as a mature guard who walks through the woods. But then, little by little, one finds out that, by the reassuring guard, he is out of the question, not without some kindness, the mechant loup, the bad wolf. The evil intentions of the wolf take shape in a bitter, sometimes even embarrassing, masculine odor (what is to make this idea in the heart of the scent I do not know, there is what it is). At this point the Little Red Riding Hood blushes and becomes willingly prey. Drydown is soft (myrrh and tonka in the pyramid).

Really spicy, warm, and a bit punchy. Right from the start, you get that sweet, mentholated hit of licorice, lightly syrupy, mixed with powdered saffron, freshly ground allspice, dry coriander seeds, and candied ginger. As it settles, a subtle herbaceous, earthy freshness from vetiver shows up, more noticeable as the scent dries down, giving a nice contrast to all that spice. The base is woody, dry, and gently sweet, maybe with a hint of palo santo over aged, mellowed woods. Feels pretty masculine to me, though anyone could wear it. It’s warm and intense, not something I’d reach for in the height of summer. It lasts around seven hours on my skin. In this resinous-spicy-woody territory, Timbuktu from the same house still wins hands down: sacred, bohemian, a real masterpiece.

Mechant Loup for Men? If I wasn't aware of the gender this fragrance was marketed towards, I'd say unisex. To me, it doesn't scream "this is a men's fragrance". Maybe I'm one of the lucky ones, but on my skin it's very sweet and softly spicy. For a brief moment I thought of Chergui, a warm honeyed tobacco. Scrolling through other reviews I see I'm not the only one who picks up a tobacco note that isn't really there. Along with the sweet honey, the licorice comes through strong - almost aniseed-like at first spray. Woods are very prominent and the myrrh is noticeable. Sadly, I only get a nutty 'vibe' as opposed to a true hazelnut note. Big Bad Wolf? Nah. More like soft, cuddly puppy. And that isn't a bad thing at all. A cosy cool-weather scent.

Méchant Loup is not altogether my type of gourmand, although it's obviously a well-made, high quality scent, and I do quite like it. It has a dry, rather dusty quality to its gourmand character: it's sweet, but in a more masculine-leaning way, with a focus on the woody/nutty accords. Which is not at all a bad thing, but not what I prefer for myself. On top of that, liquorice is a smell I'm not quite sure I like as a perfume component, and to my nose that's the most prominent single note in this one. Overall I enjoyed my sample because I was glad to test this classic that I admire for how harmonious and original it is, but I don't want more now that it's gone.

As a young woman, I was drawn to this fragrance. I did not care if it was for men, but I bought it and wore it everyday. There were other women who would compliment me on the scent and when I told them it was a man's scent, they were surprised. My taste has changed since then, but it is still a very sexy scent and if my boyfriend wore it, man oh man. It is an fall/winter scent that is very warm. 10 years later, I will admit that it is clearly masculine, but whatever! I also did the same with Creed's Silver Mountain Water....another masculine scent, but I wore it and loved it until I grew out of it.

If I had to describe this fragrance with a colour it'd be black. It's a dark and deep scent. The licorice is prominent in the first hour than it begins to smell woody and sweet. Although it has hazelnut and honey, Mechant Loup is not a gourmand scent. It's listed as a fragrance for man but I can wear it with no problem. I would love to smell it on my boyfriend on a wintry night. I think it's more a skin scent than a monster sillage and the longevity (like the most of L'Artisan fragrances) is not so good.

i believe this house reformulated many of their scents and mechant loup is 1 of them, im sure of it. i use to love this scent. roasting hazelnuts by a fire adding honey the licorice was way in the background. now the licorice is like the main note and now this scent is terrible.smh. edit..after revisiting the next summer, it's working it's magic and it's getting play time ,unique enought to keep me reaching, wore this several times during warm weather. Not what it use to be but it's still nice

Sweet nutty and woody, but not in a sickly way. It somehow manages to avoid becoming cloying and syrupy. Praline chocolates in a fresh forest. Very Duchafour i.e. all about the blend rather than individual notes. Personally I think it smelled better on the sales lady than on me and I’d reach for other things before this, but it’s still a great offering. Perfect for autumn when it starts to turn colder and wetter, and you need something a bit cosy without going full out winter gourmand.

totally blind buy from the website, never try this brand too, well....this is herbaly spicy scent, I can imagine that I'm walking on the Indian street with the spiciness blow me away around the corner, then I get in into the Chinese drug store for buying some herbal and medicine, then hint of the sweetness hit me from the Moroccan bakery, that is how I can describe this juice, overall herbaly spicy woody by little touch of sweetness

Very interesting. Got it randomly as a sample. I can't call it yet, very unique. I thought I was going to buy a full bottle before I tried it on, smelling the plastic stick out of the sample vile but this one definitely changes quickly on skin, mine at least. Still, the perfumia did a great job at artistically transforming you to the woods. Very unique but I wish this house made their fragrances more powerful and long lasting.

I tried this perfume because it smelled so awesome in the store. The attendant was super nice and gave me a decant for me to try. I have never been shy to wear a ''dude's cologne", so I did try it. It is very linear on me ... I smell of Dentyne bubble Gum in cinnamon flavour. A lot!!! The name is incredible and I am sure that if your body chemistry makes all the notes appear .... it would be a hit.

I once had a summer romance with a girl who wore this so I am biased, however this remains a beautiful, unisex nieche fragrance. The licorice and honey work so well together, and to this day I haven't really smelled other fragrances like it. If my memories were not tied to the scent, I would buy this for myself. LP sell samples of this on their website, so if you are curious, try it.

Spray it, and suddenly you're in a forest. It's both a real and an enchanted one. As you turn around you see the trees, the musks, the flowers, the leaves. And then, all of a sudden, you realize there's a wolf somewhere, looking at you, not at all hostile, just curious. It's a perfume for magical meetings. It lets you know that it's still possible to marvel. A masterpiece.

Would be a lovely perfume but for its poor longevity and sillage. Strong licorice note at the opening then sandalwood and praline kick in. Faint notes of hazelnut. Immediatey after spraying it there is this wonderful sexy alcoholic aromatic smell, which in a minute or two becomes smell of dried rose petals. Half an hour later it remains pleasantly woody, very light, not animalic, very clean, making me think slightly of licorice with just a hint of sweetness. I would find it very pleasant on a man.

I've got my 2016 bottle today. I never tried the original formula, so my impressions from 2016 is - a lot of woods - old woods - softened by gourmand notes. No hazelnuts, honey, chocolate, licorice. Overall impression, old masculine fragrance. I regret the purchase a lot.

It is nice gourmand and not that sweet to bother ! But for sure not the big bad wolf! The name dont fit at all the perfume! Its more relaxing honey licorise perfume than bad and agresive ! But still a nice release from l artisan parfumeur!!

Very interesting. I'm immediately reminded of Sheldrake & Luten's Jeux de Peau. Warm, cosy, slightly gourmand and definately masculine. It's a skin scent for sure as there is very little projection, but it does seem to have great longevity.

Nuts, praline and honey all together just can't be not tasty. So it is. This fragrance is really gourmand. And it's cool that it's not sickly sweet, despite it's sweet. I like this fragrance. It's yummy and interesting enough.

Initially, this feels sharply of spice, resins and cedar, and quickly fades to a sweet woody scent, slightly dry. This had decent longevity for me, but sillage was a little on the light side.

Honey, licorice (especially on the dry-down), woods and herbs. Rather refreshing, sweet and herbal. Light, does not project. I would only wear this if you like the smell of licorice.
