Oeillet Sauvage

It's been unseasonably warm here in SE England for the last five days or so: the weather is forecast to be cooler and wetter next week, so that's the English summer over and done with. Huzzah. I am wearing Oeillet Sauvage, the third SOTD (and second L'Artisan), this evening; it is far warmer than it was the first time I tested it earlier this year on March 11. I think there may have been snow on the ground that day; it had either just snowed/was snowing/was about to snow - whatever the exact conditions, it was bloody cold and we've had (what amounts to) a heatwave this week. And yes, people are complaining. As predicted. Anyway, the point I wanted to make in my usual rambling fashion (routinely adopted once I've worked my way through a bottle of cava on top of the prescribed opiate painkillers I take to enable me to move and function in any vaguely useful manner) is that the predominant note in Oeillet Sauvage this evening is LILY. Not just one lily, but a large bouquet of white lilies, in glorious full bloom. Carnations are very shy this evening and are only just starting to peep out and spice up the perfume an hour or so after spraying. I am not complaining; I love the smell of fresh lilies (and OS is a hyper-realistic floral perfume). So - in cooler weather, expect OS to be a quieter and more discreet (but spicier) beast than it is when the temperature is higher. It's a bit like having two perfumes for the price of one. Sillage is greater when it's warm, too - but still unlikely to offend anyone, as it's such a subtle perfume. My husband could smell me from over a meter away. Highly recommended (again). Hic. x

I bought this (blind - again!) on the basis of the notes, the reviews and my near 100% success rate with L'Artisan perfumes; most I love, some I like - and so far only two haven't worked for me (Skin on Skin - the leather note was too much for me, leaving me feeling almost queasy, and Caligna which has an odd oily quality to it). Oeillet Sauvage is first and foremost a gloriously realistic interpretation of carnations on my skin. Lilies back up the carnations, both bringing a slightly powdery quality to the fragrance. My nose isn't acute enough to pick up on all the other notes, but I can definitely sense a slight spiciness, possibly from the pepper, although carnations smell spicy to me as well. This really is a delicate, masterfully blended beauty. I am looking forward to wearing this in the spring and early summer as I think this is probably when it will shine the most. Sillage is close to the skin and I suspect longevity won't be good, but I don't care - this is an ethereal beauty, highly recommended for lovers of delicate floral perfumes.

This spring I bought some light pink carnations for my balcony and fell in love with their scent instantly. So I searched for a perfume with this note. Most are either pretty old-fashioned or very spicy. Oeillet Sauvage is neither. Granted it doesn‘t smell exactly like blooming carnations, it‘s more like a creamy floral bouquet, especially in the opening I get more lily and ylang-ylang than carnation. It smells more floral than the real flower does. But it doesn‘t matter, this still captures the feeling of those pretty pink blossoms, and as it dries down, the slightly sweet, warm spiciness of carnation unfolds and a hint of vanilla rounds everything out. Oeillet Sauvage smells very romantic to me, like pastel colors in scent form. And it‘s unlike anything else. I love how they used a unique combination of floral notes and made just as creamy and feminine as white florals are, but completely different from those. My absolute favorite of all carnations I have tested so far, I need a bottle soon.

I got my hands on this perfume after a recommendation by the member Objections! First of all, this perfume is gorgeous. Personally, I find the carnations to be the floral winner in this one, closely followed by the lilies. As several people have already stated, it seriously smells like a florist boutique. Fresh yet creamy, beautiful and sweet. To me this smells like well-being, as if a mental state had a scent. Similarly to when I clean my apartment and buy flowers that stand in vases in every room. It’s so relaxing! Personally, I don’t pick up on any smokiness in this one, just a succulent combination of lilies, carnations, vanilla and an «oomph» provided by some pepper.

Pretty, delicate and feminine. Realistic bouquet of lilies and carnations in full bloom, slightly waxy and creamy but sheer and elegant. There's a smidge of soapiness but in a good way, more fresh soapy not cloyingly old fashioned if that makes sense. I also get a distant tropical echo and I am reminded of something I've smelled in the past. Could it be Guerlain's Terracota Voile d'Ete 1999?(very different from recent Terracota editions btw) with its strong carnation, ylang, lily and vanilla. Anyway, it's beautiful!!It was a blind buy for me but I'm so beyond happy with my purchase. The only down side is that I wish it lasted a little longer.

"Perfection!" - that is what I told to myself upon receiving this bottle and testing it. Next thing I've made it my signature fragrance on the fragrantica shelf. Why it is perfect?...It is the way carnation, lily and resins are blended, guys. It is like perfect make up, you don't notice it, but person looks beautiful. Same here, you can separate if you want to - carnation from lilies and ylang with vanilla, yet it is such a smooth unity, powdery-sweet, sensual and womanly, makes you two inches higher and few years younger, gives you confidence and adds glamour even to simple tee-jeans combination.

I am a bit baffled by the notes mentioned here. The packaging of my bottle, which I think is the recent reissue (but not the new bottles. the old bottles with pink label), mentions carnation, pink pepper, ylang-ylang, cedar, musk.... No resin, or wallflower or lily or rose. And what I smell is much closer to what is on the packaging than on this page. The pink pepper and cedar are very evident, the cedar present at all stages. No lily or rose to my nose. It is a very interesting floral-woody-spicy scent. And I suspect the new reissue it is quite different than from what other people experienced.

This is a very refined and well balanced carnation. I like it because the spices do not overtake the whole scent of the flower, but it still retains that edgey bite. It's also not too powdery or hand lotiony only slightly at the peak before turning crystalline. It seems to smell very natural. Since I love my green notes, it would be perfection if they could manage to marry the carnations and florals with more lush greenness in the back end. It would be absolute perfection then. It is a Eau de Toilette so it's quite close to the skin but very gentle and tender in expression.

There are wild carnations blooming in the summer in the hills nearby where I live. I have been looking for a fragrance that would smell like that but I've never succeed. This is very close to that wonderful scent. It's like a veil, floral, powdery, sweet and soft but persistent. I can smell lily at first, but carnation takes the lead after a few minutes and that doesn't change until the drydown. One of the most beautiful scents for me.

Carnation and lily (cold) with a touch of spice and a teensy bit of vanilla. On my skin the flowers take turns being the star of the show. Longevity is quite good considering it is an EDT. This is in the MUST OWN category for me! Love, love, love!! I want to try more from this house!

A really well done example of realistic carnation scent in perfumery. The smell of real carnations is more delicate and this offering brings something more true to life, not quite perfect.. but very close. This is by no means a strong perfume. I always overspray it and get it on fabric as well as my skin, which ensures it projects more. In the opening there is the lily which I can detect but it soon gives way to the carnations and a hint of spice underneath. It wears like a gentle aura around your body, soft and powdery in its floral composition. Sometimes you get a little bit of spice or soapiness that comes through, but it's mainly carnation and powder florals. I think this perfume is very feminine and romantic. There's something almost soft focus and dream like about it overall, which I find unique in the way this one makes me feel... as though it reflects something virginal and clean, like a young girl walking barefoot on freshly fallen snow.

I adore carnation scents and this is a good one. It is not quite as spicy as L'Air du Temps Le Crepuscule but still very similar. I see there are supposed to be other notes, but on me, after dry down it is pretty much 90% carnation with a little rose, lily, and ylang ylang. Personally, I'm fine with that, but people who want a more balanced fragrance may want to look to Wind Song or Maja instead. I'm not sure I would buy a bottle right now since I own several carnation heavy scents currently, but when I run out of L'Air du Temps Le Crepuscule and it is nowhere to be found, I could definitely see this as a substitute. Lastly, it has reasonably good projection and decent staying power. If you want a carnation, but don't like anything too spicy, this could be a great option for you.

this starts off with lily, then i get some ylang ylang and a hint of vanilla. this is a pretty scent, a little bit soapy and definitely has a classic feel. i don't get any carnation till after about 20-30 minutes, then it comes through, and it's so pretty! this is definitely a softer carnation scent, not a very spicy one. in the drydown it's carnation, ylang ylang and vanilla. i never seem to get any rose. maybe a hint of resins, but not much else.

This truly smells just like perfect fluffy pink carnations, and is just so lovely and innocent. I was thrilled to find a bottle, and think it’s very beautiful, but sadly never seem to be satisfied when I wear it, feeling like it’s not quite me. I prefer my florals unsweetened, white, green, and wild. So if you’re looking, I have a 100 ml bottle, about 90% full, for swap or sale, US. Would love to get it to someone who will wear it more!

Photorealistic carnation tempered with lightly indolic lily & ylang. Vanilla and resins emerge as it dries down, makes it warm and softens it up a bit. Not as spicy as the L'Air du Temps, so I wouldn't say they're identical. Perfect for cool/warmish weather, it can't be too hot or cold. Arms length' sillage, creates a small bubble around the body.

A soft carnation; it reminded me of Oeuillet Bengal (Aedes de Venusta), so I tried them side by side. Bengal has a much more pronounced pepper-clove note that lingers with the carnation, while Sauvage opens with a slightly green carnation note, no spice to speak of, and continues this way until the final notes fade away. There is a slight soapy note and a light powder that wafts in an out as the dry-down progresses, but this aside, there are no surprises or changes. I can't compare it to the original juice, but it is a nice, light carnation fragrance, more suited to spring and summer than the cold of winter. It is light enough to be acceptable in most circumstances, and not nearly as similar to Bengal as I thought at first. And, for an Eau de Toilette, it has a close-to-skin longevity that was quite good (4 - 6 hours). UPDATE June 2016: So this morning I put this on with a bit of a heavier hand, and was overwhelmed by the strong, oily and rather unpleasant carnation note...not sure if it was the heat, the humidity, or more spray, but I did not like this at all. Quickly faded to next to skin level, but still retained that oily note for several hours.

Ack. I'm afraid that for me this fragrance was all hairspray(!), literally the scent of Aqua Net dragging through my sinuses and bitterly hitting the back of my tongue. If I hunt for it, I can detect something sweet and pleasant in there - lily and vanilla? - but it is swimming in a heavy, synthetic, chemical miasma that I associate with cheaper perfumes. I get no carnation whatsoever, no spice, no powder, just faint peekaboo lily and a heavy hairspray fog. I'm super disappointed to have such a negative experience with a scent that worked so well for others!

Oeillet Sauvage by L'Artisan Parfumeur (USD 80, OS116N, 95ml. left - EDT). Review on January 22, 2024 In my personal interpretation; I found this fragrance to aim as soft projecting fragrance that linger on your skin, compare to current standard. If your nose used to super-amber. I am not sure you are able to smell this at all. This smells close to how you smell actual scent of carnation. 2 weeks ago, I need a lift up (I am in process of house arrangement). Housework is really thing you have to keep committing to get down. I kind of understand, why people feel happy finding new bathroom scent or change cleansing glove because process of cleansing to just something happen over and over... it is a commitment. I brought the bouquet of Carnation; the white one with pink rim. I put in the jar, keep caring its last about 5 days with constant changing water. The smell of Carnation really clean and uplift. It changes my room ambient even It is really soft projecting flower. It kinds of soft, clean, slight spicy, florally. . . I found this fragrance; Oeillet Sauvage encapsule how Carnation project so well. It is in similar soft manner, slight spicy, powdery and musky. With calibration between rose, indole yellow floral and white floral facet. in nature manner. I believe this build around Iso-e super the transparent wood feel like cedar. With soft florally Hedione, provide body and slight powdery feel to fragrance. At this moment; 4 hours post wear. I still able to smell something in "Ginger Picante" manner. But; in this there is slight more something pretty much reminds me of Rose de Mai with Touch of Lite Ylang that smell real; with support from Clove. wired even 4 hours post wear this clove nuance still hitting my face. It is not like CLOVE! but ..c..l..o..v..e... whisper softly along with floral. I believe this fragrance doesn't represent "Carnation" as a note in Perfumery. It represent as a "Flower"; it is replica how the Carnation smells like in the room. It wears like clean transparent fragrance than substantial Carnation one. I will keep this, and classified more like a Goutal manner. A lite-strong scent that last all day, wear softly on skin... Longevity : 7 hours. I really enjoy my bottle back in 2013, I spray 50 ml. of it relentlessly until it run out. Oeillet Sauvage seems to use concoction of my favorite Ylang interpretation "Somewhere between Ylang and bite marigold, Rose and White Floral" yeah. Really wanna try this one.

میخک وحشی شاید عنوان مناسبی برای عطر زیبای "اویلت سوواژ" نباشه. عنوان عطر این تصور رو ایجاد میکنه که با یه حجم زیاد از میخک خشک در فضایی اسپایسی-انیمالیک مواجه خواهیم شد و واقعیتش اینکه دقایق آغازین عطر؛ این تصور رو به یقین تبدیل کرد برام. اما به مرور متوجه خواهیم شد که این میخک؛ وحشی نیست! اتفاقا بی اندازه لطیف و جذاب و خواستنیه و رگه هایی از شاهکار های کلاسیک میخک محور رو هم به زیبایی در فضای مدرن و درخشان خودش به نمایش میذاره. بوی تند و کمی تلخ و دودی شروع کار با وزش نسیم تازه و ملایمی که حس خاک بارون خورده و گلهای پنبه رو داره؛ آروم می گیره و عطر به آرومی وارد فضایی پودری و خاکی میشه که بوی طبیعی و پیچیده ای از گلها درش جاریه و حس سبز غنچه های رز در حاشیه ی اون کاملا محسوسه. به مرور حالت پودری، بر خاک آبپاشی شده و عطر گلهای پنبه غلبه میکنه و با لمسی از شیرینی مهار شده ی وانیل؛ عطر وارد فاز پودری درخشان و شیرینی میشه که ناخود آگاه ضربان قلب رو بالا می بره. این فضای پودری درخشان با ورود به بستری فلفلی و کمی تند جای خودش رو به میخک با ابهتی میده که اصیل و با پرستیژه و با اجرایی فاخر، اصالت و غنای خودش رو به نمایش میذاره. یه ترکیب اسپایسی-فلورال معرکه که ادای دِینی به عطرای بزرگ این سبک داره. پایان کار و قسمت اصلی نمایش داره میگه که اویلت سوواژ؛ میخک وحشی نیست. یه عطر فلورال-اسپایسی لوکس و گیراست با حاشیه هایی شیرین، فلفلی، سبز و کمی پودری و البته لمسی از گلهای سفید. نمایش دلچسب این عطر با موندگاری و پخش قابل قبولی همراهه که چه در بهار و چه در پاییز؛ یه احساس ناب بدست میده. ظریف، آروم، متین، لوکس و زلال با حضوری اثر گذار و پر از افسون... کامنت: م.ع (سایت لوکس بایر (با امکان تست سمپل

when i first spray this and for the first 30 minutes, my nose thinks it's smelling powdered aldehydes! so this seriously reminds me of kenzo flower limited edition (obviously without the violets) and also surprisingly, of Chanel No.22! it has an airiness, a lightness, like a billowing floral print diaphanous chiffon frock in a meadow on a summers day. i was expecting a spicy carnation too, but that is not what i got here. this was not at all what i expected (owning Mimosa Pour Moi, also by Anne Flipo), but then i haven't yet tested L'Artisan's white and yellow floral La Chasse Aux Papillons. Nuit de Tubereuse left me cold i'm afraid, smelling like fruity chewing gum and not really a flower in sight. this is a stunning floral, with a heady start and a long interesting dry down. i smell a lot of rose and lily and of course, carnation (but not the clove note which i expect with carnation). vanilla in the base and after a few hours, the spice comes through. there is something very refreshing, almost soapy, powdery and ladylike about this creation. yes, serenity and confidence. it takes a confident woman (or man) to pull this off, because on me it packs the same punch as No.22 and Flower for at least an hour. for flowery ladies (or gents).

This fragrance and me had a very weird encounter. One day I was wearing my sample of Prada Infusion d'Oeillet and kept wanting a carnation centric fragrance that didn't have so much clove, clove ruined carnation fragrances for me. The very next day this one showed up on a FB group with decent price. After a quick browsing around to read reviews, I decided to pick this up. I was quite familiar L'Artisan Parfumeur but totally unaware of Oeillet Sauvage then. So Oeillet Sauvage does what it promises, a carnation centric scent without clove. On paper, this one is a glorious carnation in full bloom, sharp & floral. On my skin, it jumps back and forth between a carnation soliflore and a white lily soliflore throughout the whole time it's on my skin. I have the relaunch bottle where the lily is not listed but all the notes combine to create the white lily scent pretty well. The scent doesn't project much but it last quite a long time.

Firstly..thanks to fragrantica member Objections for suggesting this one to me !!! I agree with her review...the first spritz,I thought..oh!...hell no !!! Then as it developed on my skin...a WOW! for me. This scent needs developement and patience. I am really loving this so far. I do wish it was a tad "louder"...maybe spicier..??.. Nice carnation/lily combo with the other notes wafting about...oh yeah !!! Sillage is moderate...as is the projection. It "hovers" around you nicely. 8.5/10 BTW...this is my very first L'Artisan purchase...and more to investigate for sure.

J’ai pu sentir Œillet Sauvage il y a quelques temps. Bon il a quelque peu changer par rapport à l’ancien que m’a fait sentir Nouille au Coeur, mais ça reste fidèle quand même. Ce parfum était devenu plat, nettement moins épicé et poudré, moins bouquet floral, un floral boisé avec une affreuse note boisée plastique en fond. Quand vous sentez Œillet Sauvage, vous découvrez comme un ancêtre de Baiser Volé. Un floral blanc gras et vanillé juste relevé d’une pointe de girofle... Sur ma peau il ne tient pas en plus sur moi et devient "savonneux". Dommage.

Blind buy for me. Unfortunately it became too soapy and generic 'perfumey' on my skin, without any of the peppery or creamy qualities I was hoping for.I guess my skin kills some of those more delicate notes. It's still a nice scent - pretty, floral and comfortable - just not me. I also think the ylang ylang or lily took over on my skin, reminding me of Sira des Indes, which also didn't end up liking me. I'll be selling my bottle (EU) if anyone wants a reasonably priced one in the near future (I'll be moving overseas soon).

Wild Carnations. Divine. Fresh cut, photorealistic carnations. The opening is a little bit scary and slightly indolic, but doesn't last long (5 minutes?). She's a wild child... but tame. Pretty much a linear soliflore. Sometimes it gets slightly soapy. I also detect light lily, ylang-ylang and very soft spice. Good sillage, long lasting. Soft, fresh, spring-y, airy, delicate, fairytale flowers... nothing is real, and nothing to get hung about... carnation fields forever...

I got this today and I couldn't help but compare it with the Vitriol d'oeillet sample I got from a swap. If V is a dark spicy carnation, this is just the opposite. It feels a tad soapy, more floral and less spicy, luminous and bold. Yes, it's feminine and empowering. I find it a bit pretentious and it's got a classic vibe to it. Better suited for daywear and it's season would be spring/early autumn.

This is the first carnation-focused perfume I have ever smelled- and I am smitten by it. It is a tender carnation lightly powdery and in a pretty company of pink pepper. So summery and fresh. Just beautiful. My only point of discontent is the longevity. It was gone from my skin in less than 4 hrs. Hmm.. Anyway, it is a wonderful scent to own if you like carnations.

Oeillet Sauvage smells like expensive old-fashioned soap, pleasantly floral and spicy. To me it's a no-fuss scent. The smell of freshly out of shower, clean and soapy. Classical, old-school but not heavy. The spiciness comes mostly from heady carnations. Slightly warm and mildly sweet. Not too much of anything. Not a statement fragrance. Perfect in that way.
