Vetiver de Pierre

How brilliant was atelier_francais_des_matieres (the same that provides materials for les_indemodables_officiel ) to create scents with emphasis on their wonderful materials, I will not get tired to repeat. As soon as I sampled Vetiver de Pierre I was taken aback and after studying my 3ml sample, I went for the full bottle. I think @nathaliefeisthauer really studied this wonderful haitian vetiver whose concentration is around 20-22% (the perfume is an eau de parfum at 80% alcohol. For me this is a trip not down a forest, but to the Caribbean region. I imagine this very dry and hearthy vetiver arriving in front of a distillation factory. Es el Caribe; it is hot, humid, the sun at this zenith reigns over us. This solar part is encapsulated in the opening where a beautiful bergamot shines (the same as in Bergamot de G. Franco?) It is very confectionary, but at he same time citrusy and slightly leathery. The trip goes on; Night draws a veil over us and we suddenly find ourselves in a cigar workshop. We entered through a secret door made of an alluring dusty cocoa and tonka bean. There we are eveloped by wreath of smokes: is this the blonde tobacco from Turkey? It smells so daring, more like tobacco leaves. It is a very vintage (in the most beautiful sense) odour, full of wildness and a hint of confectionary notes. At the same time, the vetiver is not loosing its force. Nothing here is making it gentle: the stuffy smell of the soil is still very present. And yet, this Vetiver de Pierre comes out as extremely wearable and classy. For those who look for classic elegance; for those who are confident enough not to shout their presence, this perfume is a must try. Follow me on IG @alexolympia6

This is one of my favorite fragrances... Memory: like wearing a leather flat cap on a breezy warm day, while eating chocolate and drinking coffee somewhere in Mexico, Cuba, or Miami lol Scent: It initially radiates spikey waves of peppery tobacco with dense notes of vetiver. The dry down is an addicting combination of vetiver and a powdery tonka bean with an ever so slightly sweet, vanilla-like foundation that comes from the mixture of tonka bean and cacao. IMO this is levels above D'Hermes. The quality is just stunning. Simple yet a perfect balance of the four ingredients it has. Excellent projection (especially on a warmer day) and medium-ish sillage.

The last of my discovery kit. Like the others from this line, very natural execution, this time with vetiver and though not listed, I’m picking up bergamot in the opening and drydown. Even though tonka and cacao are here, this is not sweet or gourmand. In fact there’s an acrid feeling to the composition. Vetiver de Pierre works best in late Summer or Fall weather. Not a downvote but still a pass (mostly due to the cost, $195 for 30ml).

I get like a hot, ginger ale, rootiness to the opening with touches of like a real clean, ethanol, boozy component. Not long after that the spicy feeling tobacco creeps around the corner and obviously the big player is the earthiness from the vetiver. Not long lasting and not all that enticing, certainly not for €155 for 30ml.
