Ajwaa

So... i’ll use this space for therapeutic platform concerning our collective/individual fragrance journeys. I love Lattafa. It has given me so much knowledge and joy. My nose grew so much. I can actually say that my fragrance journey made me a better, more analytical, more attentive person. Now, my point: if you think you have enough fragrance that you will never be capable to wear, if buying online is starting to become an addiction or an anxiety, if searching for bargains is seeming endless, if you have said “now, this is my last blind buy” and it wasnt: we might have a problem. The thing is: it will never stop, unless you focus on stopping. The combination of bargain prices and their quality-price ratio, the “new perfect clone” we see on a new youtube video. The “ill just get these two extra, even tho i only want one, but if i get these two ill get free shipping” Buying samples is just another problem, and this is what concerns this fragrance, Ajwaa. When i first smelled it i absolutely hated it, gave it no mind and moved on. But something about it kept calling me - so i got a sample. Sprayed it again and enthusiastically thought “whew! Thank god i hate it (so i dont have to get it)”. This in itself is already a problematic and addictive thought. Sprayed again and slowly but surely it started taking me hostage. “It cant be... i hated this! (Sniff) !!! (Wait... wow... no)” - the sweet resins had couped me! Two weeks later and a bottle is on the way. But consciously knowing this will (hopefully) be one of my last fragrances on my journey. Lattafa is only responsible of being a really obnoxiously GOOD thing, it is the seeming endless world it offers that can become a problem. To anyone reading this: i apologize for the digression, but it felt needed. If you just want to know about performance: its one of the ghostly ones - its persistent but rather transparent. It will last on clothes to the next day but being fleeting, coming and going in wafts, for me at least. Hope you have a safe journey! And ultimately, shall it end for you as well - at some point!

Oven roasted dates. Black licorice whips. Sweet Hookah smoke. These are some of my favorite things, and this fragrance captures them perfectly. I have been waiting a long time for Lattafa to release this: a sweet licorice centered scent bolstered by Middle Eastern spices and incense. I've owned many licorice perfumes in my life: Opium Pour Home, Lolita Lempicka Au Masculin, Lattafa Raghba Wood Intense. This one stands above them all. It is the smell that I have always wanted. I imagine myself walking home on Halloween, devouring a bag of black licorice. I am wearing a black hoodie tinged with the scents of Hookah smoke and clove cigarettes-- because I've been at a party. Somewhere in the distance, there is someone burning leaves. So nostalgic. When other reviews say this smells of Haribo black licorice, they are not lying. The black licorice note only amplifies during the dry down, lucky for me. This is a sweet, intoxicating, mysterious perfume, with Oriental undertones. For anise lovers: this might be your holy Grail. I am wearing it while I am writing this, and I will tell you: it is getting me high. Since I was a child, I have been obsessed with licorice. I relished the black jelly beans that other children detested. Thirty years later, I've discovered that my French Bulldog Cooper shares my obsession. He will not leave my side when this is on my wrist and follows me around the house. I'm thinking about using it for training. Thank you Lattafa.

It's a gourmand lover's dream, adding in a strong amber touch to the DNA. This is an intense and heady blend of sweet, fruit, herbal, citrus, amber, smoke and incense aromas. Sweet dates are what will immediately come to mind. This is as close to an actual food item as a fragrance gets. Naturally, this is perfect for gourmand lovers. It works in all weather, surprisingly even in warmer weather. This is a very powerful performer as well. Note that it is very sweet and the smoke and incense notes may turn off some female users. Presentation is amazing with a very unique and stylish bottle. However, the large wooden split opening box, while very impressive looking, is pretty wasteful once you consider you'll take the bottle out of the box and never see it again. I get that Lattafa is proud of the product == it is part of the Pride line, after all -- and wanted to give it top notch presentation, but the environment also has to be considered. Other than that, this is a complete recommend.

This is one of those Lataffa offerings that is actually a great window into the notes found in the Arabian Peninsula, where they are located. For that I must commend this perfume because when I spray it, I'm transported to a space with notes I'm unfamiliar with as an American. The "licorice" or anise is blended well with the dates and spices, and on the dry down you are left with a warm and sweet resiny spiciness from the elemi resin. I enjoy wearing this perfume at night but I recently started blending it with Lataffa's Ishq Al Shuykh Silver which has a pineapple note and now I can wear this as a hypnotizing fruity-spicy-woody combo during the day. Highly recommended as a purchase for those who like to experience something that feels culturally significant to the Middle East. I mean the bottle is literally in the shape of a date palm and at least for my tastes, looks pretty cool.

@Beffuhnee I would love to oblige but this is my most confusing fragrance. I mean lots of dates and thick sweetness with a lot of licorice. But I have close to 100 bottles and have smelled of tons of high dollar niche that unfortunately I can only afford samples of so I do have a slightly evolved sense of smell and taste, imho. But this perfume is so unique and unusual, almost too unusual. I don’t know if it fits in any occasion or what outfit would work with this scent. Again just confused BUT the only thing I do know for sure is that this is NICHE as hell and I love it!!! Feel like I muddied the waters. Sorry but it’s a unicorn!!!

dates & lemon 🍋 the lemon is very mild and soft and not the harsh kind. the date follows closely in the background of the lemon, on a base of some resin and incense. This lasts a decent 6 hours on my skin, with an arms length sillage. I saw someone saying this is similar to khamrah, and I don't agree at all. The only similarity are the dates (which are wayyy dialed down in khamrah in comparison) and the fact theyre both gourmands. unpopular opinion (according to the ratings): i could wear this any season. It's not too heavy for summer, except maybe for the hottest month. This is thanks to the lemon.

My first impression when smelling Ajwaa on paper was “meh, a bit simple”. Then I put it on my skin... oh heavens to betsy, this stuff rocks. There is, for some reason, a fresh cherry tobacco sitting in the bowl, unlit, of an old pipe that I get from the heart notes. I love it and who gives a fiddlers fuzz if the bottle is absurd! I won’t speak to the longevity yet. That always seems to improve with time on the shelf, following the first sprays. 8/10 right now. I found it for under 30usd on amazon. Worth every cent, fully recommend.

Got it today. Amazing smells like sweet dates with incense. Good performance. The bottle is so beautiful,the cap is metal. Comes in great packaging. The Lattafa house has probably the most beautiful bottles. This house will not disappoint you,also arabian houses overall. Great price also. I found in my 10 years fragrance journey that expensive niche brands usually do not give you the quality that you expect for that price.

I have a small bag of samples that include this one, and I keep gravitating towards it, since weather is cold. It's sweet, gourmand, and has that masculine tinge that reminsices tobacco. If I had to break down notes it'd be just super sweet dates mixed in tobacco sauce. Just awesome feeling and somehow keeps coming to my nose for hours. Lovely 🙏🏻

In my opinion, this smells like the most luxurious raisin in the entire world. Smells very similar to if you opened one of those cardboard raisin boxes and took a big whiff. The scent is very nostalgic, but I don't find myself wearing this an extravagant amount, maybe just for special occasions.

I've never smelled lemon used in this way, it gives the spiciness a refreshing vibe, makes it less heavy. Definatly a middle eastern smell but the liorice and lemon really make it different. Very good. I don't find too masculin ither. The bottle shape is unfortunate but. The scent is 🖤

i love this fragrance and am so happy to have it! It is a distinctive fragrance on it's own and doesn't smell like Art of Arabia III to me. Similar notes but different conclusions. I smell the fennel, I think; therefore, I believe it to probably smell like Legacy of Petra.

Me acaba de llegar y si superó mis expectativas, lo compre por los comentarios que dicen que se parece a Lolita Lempicka Au masculine y en verdad si le da un cierto aire al secado. Todavía no compruebo su sillage y duración, pero apuesto que no me va a defraudar.

I’m absolutely in love with this! It’s the perfect fall frag to match a thick wool sweater. To make it even cozier, layer it with Rifaaqat or Khair Pistachio by Paris Corner. OMG❤️.

Lattafa Ajwaa: A resinous fragrance with sweet date note and hints of lemon. Very unisex and perfect fragrance for fall and winter. A very good release from Lattafa :).

I like it on me but it's way better on my Hubby. He can wear it throughout summer, it lasts all day and he smells delicious. Teriaq is like the female's version of this

I have both Ajwaa and Memories of Petra- this is an excellent dupe albeit weaker sillage and projection. On me it wears closer to the skin. Love both.

Nose Note #155 Ultra-realistic sweet dates. Wow. Blown away. Has some smoke to it.

The date note is dominant in this bottle, but when it combines with the other, the fragrant tobacco leaf is the main scent you will smell the most from the opening to the very end. I also do not know how to describe it more specifically and understandably, so I will compare it to a fragrance with a similar scent that many people have surely tried, which is the Angel's Share DNA, specifically a very high quality clone of AS, Lattafa Zikra. They even placed these two bottles next to each other on the shelf, I wonder if that was accidental or intentional :) Take the Zikra bottle, remove the boozy opening note, and make this tobacco note richer, darker, intensely sweeter, more mature, and more masculine, and we will have Ajwaa. The first time I tried it, I had to exclaim, "OMG, what is this smell?" This tobacco smell is truly unique. It is so wonderful that I initially planned to get a full bottle, but wait a minute. Although the opening and mid phases are excellent, the final part is a bit disappointing; after about five hours, a strange scent exactly like soy sauce appeared on my skin. Initially, I thought the problem might be my skin, so I tried it on paper, and it gave a same result. Who would want to smell like they just got soy sauce splashed on them? I've lived few years in Asia, so I am very certain because I eat soy sauce almost every day, but maybe you would not recognize the soy sauce smell if you rarely or never encounter it. I wish it did not have that drydown so I could use it in rotation whenever I wanted a change of pace; it absolutely could have become an Angel's Share Absolu, Exclusif, Elixir, or Pure Parfum version, lol, that I would certainly adore, but unfortunately, it is not. I blind bought this for the myrrh. I love the resinus woody perfumes by Tom Ford, such as Ebene Fume, Mhyrr Mystere, Blush Santal and even Black Lacquer. But their price point and similarity has held me back to buying only one of them. Ajwaa is sweet and resinus as i was hoping it would be. But, if i were to compare it with perfumes that are x10 the price, Tom Ford are richer and deeper. Ajwaa is softer. But for the price point it is perfect. The note tree here is exactly what you get. A bit of citrus brightness, a lot of soft and controlled sweetness and a bit of resin and smoke. It's better than i expected, well balanced. You could say it smells like smoky cola soda. Longevity for now is about 3-4 hours.

I get it after a mistake.. i ordered vintage radio and they sent me this one. Well i wasn't so happy but i give it a try. At first the date note was very proeminent and lasted 1-2 hours and then it settled down to an ambery slightly masculin cloud maybe with a little sweet tobacco and incency undertone. The cozyness of all these surprised me the most. It wasn't cloying or harsh just soo confortable. I have to mention that i'm not a fan of ambery and sweet fragrances but this is a very well blended and wearable fragrance. The sillage is medium and one puff lasts 5-6 hours.

Amazing perfume - round, soft, naturally sweet; you get the composition of the listed notes - dates, myrrh, liquorice, and a smooth, subtle hint of incense. As for the citrus notes, I don't feel them directly; they just make the composition more light. This perfume does not overwhelm you, it is far from being heavy, but is noticeable. Great product for the European market. The weird part is the packages, they are clumsy & majestic; I guess, many of us would like to be more ecological. Less packages please 😘

Sweet dates and resins with some licorice. There is something floral and rose like in the background although not listed. Overall leans a bit too sweet without something to balance it out. More a chewy black candy licorice than the bitter herbal kind I was hoping for. Ended up being a so so blind buy (not really available to sample anywhere). Side note: the bottle is in fact tacky and the palm top separated from the plastic cap the first time I took it off (weak glue).

I thought it was the sweet date I was smelling but I guess it's the licorice. It doesn't matter it's a very distinct tropical spicy sweet scent that I have to be in the mood for. I used to wear it often but now I it's like a once a month thing. Could be a little much for some people I wouldn't use this at an office setting. I saw someone else say the bottle top broke - mine too the palm leaf came broken when I got it.

I bought 5ml tester sample of this fragrance. Smell like date fruit been marinated inside sweet tree resin and some mild warm spice and then dried out with smoke. If you like smell of smoky barbeque and deep sweet smell of raisin, but want the grape smell replaced with date fruit, then this fragrance good choice for you.

I have 2ml tester of legacy of Petra and full bottle Ajwaa, side by side I can’t detect the differences. It’s licorice bomb it last long and strong you don’t need more than 3-4 sprays according to my testing. Nice palm tree shaped bottle. Occasionally I’ll use it.

I don't really get the comparison with khamrah other than that they are both mainly sweet fragrances. This is more soft spicy and somewhat balsamic and with the biggest difference being a considerable note of licorice.

Yessss, dates!!! This is just so charming both in the opening and the drydown. I can't say I really care about the mid notes, though. But that's genuinely forgiven with that gorgeous of an opening. Comparing it to really sickening sweet fragrances out there, I wouldn't put this under the "sweet" category, but rather spicy, cozy and sexy. It's definitely not fresh by any stretch of the imagination though. An absolutely easy wear all day and night in the fall. Could also work for winter days/summer nights, so pretty versatile IMO. Also, I'd rate it as a tad masculine leaning, and a bit more on the mature side. I assume younger peeps won't probably like the scent profile, but it by no means puts this in the church/grandpa category. The incense is considerably muted down and just works in the far background to give depth to the scent. It simply smooths out the edges and pushes the other notes forward.

I sampled this ...and all I could get was licorice. I'm wondering why no one has mentioned similarities between this and Lolita Lempicka's Au Masculin. It's not one to one of course....but the similarities are definitely there. Not my ultimate favorite DNA, but I don't mind having Au Masculin in my collection (which I already own). This clone is redundant to me. If you want that licorice DNA, you can try this! NB: Performance doesn't seem to be an issue!

Tocmai ce am primit parfumul si sunt putin dezamagita! Ma asteptam sa fie mai dulce, sa simt curmalele...dar nu.... Tot ceea ce simt, este un parfum foarte puternic, in primele minute am stranutat de cateva ori ! Este masculin, foarte putin dulce, foarte putina curmala, miroase mai mult a trabuc scump, a tutun dulceag si inecacios!

Ooh this could be so good. I love the dates, lemon, resins and incense in this perfume. But what ruins this fragrance is the overly strong Haribo liquorice note. Okay longevity, medium sillage, sweet and unisex. If you like liquorice as a scent, then this is for you, but it's a no from me. Glad I only bought the 20ml mini bottle.

I wasn’t 100% sure if I’d like this when I ordered it. It is beautiful. A lovely sweet smell with some light spice just very easy to enjoy. Plus the presentation is top tier. At least a 9/10 maybe even higher.

If you love dates , you will probably like this. IMO needs more fruity, Sweetness to balance it out. Very dark date / raisin / prune smell not bad but just not for me. Thrle myrrh is completely overshadowed by the date and licorice. 3/10 Edit : Art of Arabia 3 shares the same DNA and executes it way better.

Not the biggest fan of the licorice, but once that fades you’re in for a treat. Smells really good. LE: Sold it, the amount of licorice ruins it for me.

Very pleasant, naturally smelling perfume. A full oriental composition, yet not overly heavy. It improves with maceration, although the performance remains only moderate. The opening is fairly lively thanks to citrus notes and elemi (which itself carries a citrusy nuance), but this is not a dominant citrus accord. Instead, it serves to brighten the sweet and balsamic facets that begin to develop shortly after and carry the fragrance through to the drydown. The heart centers around myrrh accompanied by sweet dates. The dates play a role similar to the citrus in the opening — they add a certain “flavor” without defining the composition. They bring sweetness and a subtle fruity touch to the main theme, which is myrrh, softening its harsher, leathery, mushroom-like or medicinal aspects. It’s a very pleasant and cohesive pairing, definitely worth recommending to those looking for a fragrance built around this resin. In the base, the myrrh softens and gradually gives way to a balsamic amber accord. Incense and benzoin are listed, but I can also detect labdanum and musks. This stage benefits the most from maceration. Overall, the fragrance feels very natural, as if built with a high proportion of natural ingredients. It is sweet and incense-like, yet without excessive smokiness, which keeps it lighter and cleaner in character. Definitely unisex. For those who enjoy this style (like I do), it works year-round, although with stronger performance it would lean more toward cooler weather. As mentioned earlier, the performance is rather average. I think it could also work well for those who enjoy layering — either with something darker and smokier, or conversely with fresher, more citrusy or floral scents (rose would likely work beautifully here). And that MYRRH — absolutely worth it.

This perfume is a fine treasure. Sugary dates enveloped in a luxurious cloud of resins: elemi, benzoin, and especially myrrh. The mention of smoke was the only note that had me concerned, but I need not have worried. The smoked effect is mild and balanced, suggesting only lit incense, or maybe date-marinade barbecue if one seeks a more elaborate gourmand allusion. The listed licorice seems to be just a phantom generated by the interaction of the various sweet and resinous notes. As for the bottle, I love the bizarrely, exotic drama of its shape and patterns. Nothing pleases me more than when a fine scent is presented like the magical potion it is. The bottle's detailed glass trunk and disproportionate bronze palm fronds remind me of the beleaguered. yet surviving, date palms shown in the recent Dune films. Bottles like this should be celebrated for the efforts made in their creation. Countless niche house, that charge much more for their equivalent products, only bottle their scents in dull and identical minimalist flasks. They may claim to do so for reasons of pragmatism or elegance, but really it is just cheaper and easier to do so. Yet I for one, happily prefer to receive maximal art and stimulation from perfume, both olfactory and visual.

Ladies and gentlemen welcome to another episode of the fortunate series "Cognitive Dissonance: pretty decent fragrances hidden in devastatingly horrendous bottles". I got Ajwaa because I was curious about dates in fragrances. Though I'm not sure to identify dried dates in the composition, the jus is a nice deep aromatic bittersweet licorice I'm enjoying a lot. Refined and pleasant, perfect for fall and winter festivities. The Kamrah/angel's share/etc boozy cinnamon note is present but just in the background, toned down by a minty balsamic feel that makes it less predictable. A scent that I associate with autumn foliage in a windy city, a long grey coat, and elegantly dissimulated urban boredom. On the other side, the bottle is hideous and the metal overcap was already detached from the plastic cap base (which would even make a better visual impact on the bottle was it not for the glue gobs sticking to it) when I opened the heavy, impeccable, expensive-looking box. If there's a thing I don't get at all is this care, effort, and budget devoted to boxes instead of the bottles that actually hold and present the fragrance. Make it make sense.

I don't know when Fragrantica will deem it convenient enough to add 'Lattafa Pride Masa' to the database. Just got that stuff, and it's a BANGER! Fruity, leathery sexiness! Gotta give it more time to LET IT COOK and get better. Though I almost got Ajwaa, but later went for Masa. I realized I already have Khamrah and enough gourmand fragrances, so I gotta chill for Ajwaa for now. Vintage radio might be the next pick. Update: Vintage radio arrived. A great milky and creamy wood smell with plum. Still prefer Masa, though. That sophistication it oozes is mind-blowing. Vintage Radio oil concentration is crazy. It's so oily. I know it'll be a beast. Edit 2: I now own Lattafa Niche Emarati Mughal Fort, another good one from the house, but from their more expensive niche emarati range. With the notes, I think it's a twist of Penhaligon's Changing Constance. But it's not on the database too. Lol, I think fragrantica just can't keep track of these plenty releases from Lattafa. I think they just throw in popular releases.

My little book of lattafa pride shows the notes as: Top: Bergamot, Elemi, Dates, Lemon Heart: Elemi, Liquorice, Myrrh Base: Benzoin, Incense, Labdanum, Musk, Vanilla I'm sure someone out there will be glad to know that lol. I had to get this after seeing the reviews that it's the ultimate licorice/anise scent as I adore those notes. Ajwaa is a little different though. It's specifically a BLACK licorice scent, so it's like a licorice note with and added herbal note? That's how I would describe it. I know people below mentioned this but it didn't compute for me until I smelled it. It's also not as sweet as you might think which works for me. Has a really nice resiny Incense dry down. Mine is not performing really well right out of the box, but these lattafas almost always improve with time. Right now it seems like 4-6 hours? I'm not the best judge of that though. If you like black licorice, or your licorice scents are not intense enough for you, absolutely give this a go!

It's crazy, but I almost smell the actual note tree as listed in order. Dates, elemi and Bergamot. After a few minutes the licorice shows up, but still no lemon. The incense arrives and thankfully the lemon also. Without the Lemon this would be too spicy as I don't pick up any of the Vanilla that the Benzoin should provide. Then the Myrrh makes its presence and sweetens it up. The drydown is the Myrrh, lemon and Incense and it is very well done. I don't prefer the opening, but it settles down, and within 15 minutes your left with a fragrance that smells way more expensive then its price tag. This could very well be a Flanker in the Boss Bottle line and it would give Absolu a run for it money.

If you love the anise/licorice driven Lolita Lempicka frags, but find the sweetness a bit much, Ajwaa may be the one for you. I expected Ajwaa to be sweet, but it's understated. The dates, citruses, and licorice, blend very well, and the resins provide a suitable substrate. The incense is definitely of the oud variety, but it's not at all animalic, feral, nor camphorous. The whole composition is sophisticated. I don't get "gourmand" from Ajwaa. There's certainly nothing loud, and obnoxious, the way some gourmands tend to be. Ajwaa is the ambiance of a lavish majlis, hours after a gathering has ended.

I wanted dates Delight but firstly, its pricey AF, secondly there's a note that smells like manure that I struggled to get past. I wanted what dates Delight would be without low key smeling like a farm in the opening. So I took a chance and got this. I got my wish. Rich, dates, spices, a little spiced rum. Very long lasting, projects like my insecurities and is not too sweet. Mature, womanly, dark, sexy. As for the bottle, I cant make up my mind if its hideous or obnoxiously fabulous.

This scent smells like it wants to be 1:1 to Legacy of Petra by Pengaligon's. However, it is composed of much weaker ingredients, but it may be liked. You can feel here mainly amber and myrrh, served sweetly. It has nothing from Dates Delights. The parameters are poor, quite close to the skin. I will not describe it in detail, because I do not like equivalents.

wow this is something amazing, its sweet resinous ambery smell that for me is unique and enjoyable, i smelt something peppery in the beginning then the ambery sweet resinous came out, fantastic smell for a cold weather, an absolute steal with this price, but try to sample it first as westerners might struggle a bit with such smell (myrrh in particular)

Finnish liquorish (nornally darker, less sweet) + myrrh + maybe an illusion of anise. Artistic, earthy as in archeological/NOT as in dirty (thank God for that). It ́s something you take out of your collector ́s cabinet and show friends: - "What do you think about this one ?" And none of them will ever say: - "I want to wear this every day"

A truly original and delightful addition to my collection. This fragrance carries a romantic, alluring Middle Eastern vibe that feels incredibly high-end. The licorice and date are a winning combination, while the hint of lemon provides a necessary brightness that keeps the scent from feeling too heavy. A total favourite.

I have this.... It feels like Dates Delight or Farrah by Brecourt with some lemon at the opening. The citrus is still present at the dry down. But wow, this is an absolutely special fragrance released in time for the holidays. You have to love dates and lemons, to enjoy this.

For the ones wondering about the bottle with the palm on the cap: ajwa in Arabic is a specific date and the palm is supposed to be a date palmtree. I know, it’s ugly, but I’m here just to clarify ☺️🌴
