Khanjar

Khanjar is very easy to throw into the 'Ganymede clone' drawer, but the longer I wear it, the less it makes sense to me — especially since I have a few fragrances that are clearly trying to be Ganymede. The association mostly comes from the opening, which, in every other fragrance made in its likeness, tends to continue into the drydown. Here, however, there's this immediate abstract mineral-fruity impression that disappears after a moment. And I think that is where the similarities more or less end, it misses saffron and suede. What we get instead is a powdery nutmeg, a violet-ginger bomb, set against a woody, dry patchouli background. All of it is wrapped in silky, smoky cashmeran, which is one of my favorite accords. The final drydown is quite heavy, leaning more in a spicy-leathery direction, somewhat à la Fahrenheit. I already own Masa, and they're fairly similar, as I expected. They share a certain minerality, and both also have that quirky, glossy fashion-magazine-from-the-2000s feel. It might even remind me more of Arabian Oud Signature or SHK I. The biggest downside is the projection, which is quite weak. Longevity is okay, but nothing spectacular either. At first, I bought Khanjar only for the bottle, because let's be honest: this is absolutely among the best bottles I've ever seen. I keep my whole collection in a wardrobe, but Khanjar stays on my desk as a showcase piece. With a bottle like this, the fragrance itself could theoretically be overlooked, because you're basically getting it included in the price of an Arabic home decoration. For me, Khanjar is more of a futuristic object with character. It doesn't have the performance I would expect from a fairly heavy composition, but it does have a distinct personality and a refined, premium texture. I got this piece of decor (slightly used) for nearly half the retail price, which is also a plus. Nose Note #940 The main question for me was whether this smells 100% like Masa. They are obviously similar, but still Masa felt fruitier and almost like a freshie (but not like Bois Imperial at all). This one is kind of what most Ganymede clones smell like. Metallic, mineralic, printer ink. Here you do get somewhat of a violet note. I can smell no leather. Is it powdery? Well, I don't know. Maybe a bit. It's hard to think about Khanjar in terms of powderiness. It's just a strange scent - like what Ganymede is, a super strange scent. It took me more than a year to warm up to this DNA. Definitely not blind-buy safe. Unisex, masculine leaning. Great performance, great sillage. If money is an issue I'd pick Masa instead. 8.5/10, legendary DNA done beautifully

Just got this and straight out of the box it smells incredibly well-blended and luxurious (hard to imagine that the smell will even improve over time, but it has happened to most of my Lattafa fragrances so who knows). 9.5/10 for now - smells MUCH higher quality than the 45 Euros I paid for it; the average perfume collector wouldn't question it if they smell this in the air and you would tell them it's a 250 dollar niche fragrance. Gonna test it a bit more over the next few days, especially to see how this thing performs, but even if that's just decent I will buy a second bottle. And maybe a third if this turns out to be a beast. Wow. Edit: Performance seems absolutely no issue and gets better and better (8+ hours with decent projection)!

So glad they finally added this after months of waiting. This fragrance is indescribable, I had never smelled anything else like it. It's very unique. I don't even know how to put it in to words. I instantly bought a bottle after sampling it at a store. It's strong, ozonic and smooth. It does require maceration to reach full potential. I have heard it's a dupe of Gaynemede, but I've yet to smell that. I did see that Masa is also a dupe, Al Khanjar smells MUCH better than Masa. Masa was a bit off-putting to my nose. Beastly performance and huge projection. I could see this working for most of the year except the very hot months, but it certainly shines in Spring and Fall. Definitely not blind buy safe, due to the uniqueness.

It's an amazing scent one of my favorite Lataffa's so far. The nutmeg and ginger come together and it smells almost like a sweet cup of tea. It dries down to a leather scent which I am in love with. I bought two of the 20ml bottles that come with an atomizer. Was hoping the price came down on the 100 ml bottle but it's still high. Of course Lataffa had to make something that looks like a powder horn on a mantle as the bottle. Would be much cheaper in a regular bottle. I don't care for the elaborate presentations. I just want the juice. Office safe, not a beast mode scent but it does last nicely for about 4 hours.

IMO, this is one of the most underrated perfumes of the last two years. It is simply a work of art with an addictive scent that receives compliments from all sides. The scent is unique, sexy and luxurious, lasts for hours, with a mesmerizing trail, leaning towards the masculine side. Some would say that the bottle is art in itself, I would prefer something simpler and more practical. True, it is a variation of Ganymede, but it simply stands on its own. And the price in relation to the value? Simply insane, even though it is an 85 ml bottle. LOVE IT!!

I've been wearing it quite a bit this week now we are heading into Fall (weather) here and Khanjar has developed so beautifully over the last couple of months, smells even richer and better than when I first got it. I got 3 compliments from good looking and classy women in their forties and one from my 250 pound heavy-bearded Turkish barber.. Make of that what you will, but I'm not complaining. Performance is excellent as people around you can still smell this 8 hours after application. Rating update: 9.5 -> 9.75

This is a masterpiece. I think this is my only violet fragrance and man do I like it. Almost has a flowery tea scent. Great for any season, any time. The bottle is a little awkward and it probably leads to the more expensive price compared to other Lataffas but it is worth it. I don't know why this one is no talked about more.

An incredible spicy and woody fragrance. For it being so reasonably priced, it smells rich. I do get a slight floral note from the violet, but it’s very balanced and doesn’t give it a powdery feel. Hands down one of my favorite Lattafa’s. Stop by my TikTok for some fragrance content: nerolicannoli

Homie said violet is carrying this but I think the Patchouli is putting in major work. This smells like a more interesting Tuxedo by YSL. The bottle is also bananas

If you mixed Ganymede, Crystal Saffron and Haltane you would get Khanjar. Simply amazing. Bottle is gorgeous as well.

This is a fantastic, spicy and warm fragrance. Reminds me of the souks of Oman. Great souvenir to have as a keepsake.

I would buy this for the bottle alone. An elaborate replication of the Khanjar, originating from the Sultanate of Oman. This is a release from Lattafa's 'Niche Emarati Collection' and is a delightful spicy and woody scent. It is quite well blended, for lack of a better term, as the opening notes of nutmeg, pimento and ginger interwoven, shine through at first spray. The heart notes can be smelt after half hour or so, with the nutmeg still going strong. Violet, patchouli (dialed down) and cashmeran, form the basis of the mid, giving a fleeting impression of similar fragrances. The base consists of leather, vetiver, musk and incense, with the mid notes still prominent for the duration of the scent. A middle eastern fragrance by all means, people have compared it to Ganymede, etc., which I for one, cannot fathom. This is more in the realm of Afnan Tribute Blue and the mid & dry down of Mancera Amberful. All seasonal scent? Yes, quite adaptable for summer evenings as well. Unisex? A M.E. Masculine scent Blind buy worthy? This is a case of try before you buy, especially for people incorrectly assuming this to be a clone of Ganymede. Performance? Longevity, around 9 to 10 hours on skin, and much much longer on clothes, with decent projection and sillage. This bottle with the stand, once it finishes, will be probably displayed as a showpiece in the house

Wish I could say it smells like *something*. It doesn't. People who find a resemblance with Ganymede need to sit down, take a deep breath, consider their life choices and put on a jacket. A strait-jacket. Khanjar is strong, sharp, spicy, masculine and unapologetically unique. I like it. Opening is aggressive but its neither synthetic nor a chemical blast. Dry-down produces a love it or hate it kind of silage. Night-time only. Won't drop panties post dates. Oozes a niche "don't F with me" aura. Spraying more than 6-7 times may result in instant fatality. Make sure you carry around that bottle(?) with you in your hand-carry on your next trip abroad.

Very unique scent, nothing like I have ever smelled before. I get a bit of a mineralness to it, but it is in a nice high-class type of way. A bit pricey for a Lattafa fragrance, still not overpriced though. If you don't like violet as a note, DO NOT buy this, it is very powdery. Huge plus - the bottle, presentation is unbelievable for a $35-$50 fragrance, something you would expect from a $400+ niche fragrance.

This is a nice scent, airy. I just don't reach for it. I wish it gave "more".

I love the bottle, but unfortunately that's where the love ends. This has a very strong, harsh peppery opening, and on my skin it has a pickle vibe to it, and then it's completely gone after 10 minutes. The only good thing this perfume is doing for me is sitting on the shelf looking pretty because... 🤢

this smells like smoother version of moscino toy boy

This is now in my top 10 of over 200 fragrances I own. I started with this version of a Ganymede clone, or Inspired by, and followed it up with 5 additional competitor offerings. The other 5 are Stallion by Zimaya, Celestial by Paris corner, Aristocrat Coastal by Ajmal, Lattafa Masa and finally Armaf D'Or. I will tell you that Lattafa (Masa), Paris Corner, Ajmal and Zimaya are very close to one another, while the Armaf leans heavier into the Leather note. Khanjar picks up that spicy Pimento note, I assume, that gives this offering a HUGE one up over the others. It has this spicy green edge that the others lack. At this point I should of just bought the Ganymede after spending all the money for these bottles, but when I like a certain DNA I will by several versions. I have several Angel Share and Blue de Chanel interpretations to give you an idea of what I mean. This, I hope, is what Ganymede smells like. It has very good Longevity and Sillage. The only thing I would change is the bottle size, as it offers less juice while costing more than the others. If anyone has put their nose to both Ganymede and this (Khanjar), please let me know how close they are. 100% office safe and signature scent worthy. Enjoy.

Gorgeous smell, particularly in the dry down. The violet is also there and you must like that note to enjoy this fragrance. Definitely more leathery than mineral, and therefore less metallic than Ganymede. That's the big difference. The dry down is really to die for and performance is fantastic. Almost visible sillage trail and you'll irradiate a ton of wonderful random whiffs late in the dry down. Niche quality and no synthetic vibes despite the prominent Cashmeran. I think it can be worn spring nights but do not over spray it. Otherwise, the violet and Cashmeran will make casualties.

Out of 600 fragrances including niech, designers, middle eastern, and clones this one definitely sits in the top 5. Amazing smell like no other, and amazing performance. Compliment getter. I bought one bottle 18 months ago and then instantly bought 3 others. My son wanted one so i got him one, and a colleague of mine who only wears niech went and bought one.... it's that good

First day review: Smells very good, reminds me of a nice sauna for some reason. Projects well too. Interested to see what happens after maceration

niche spicier version of Masa, amazing in every way except the 85 ml, why not 100????
