Opulent Red

Flaming Red Like The Alfa Romeo Giulietta After purchasing Opulent Oud, and Blue Oud, I decided it was time to tackle Opulent Red by Lattafa, a perfume often associated with Armani Privé - Rouge Malachite and Alien EAU DE PARFUM. To start, Opulent Red is beautifully packaged in a red and gold satin, velvet box containing a handcrafted glass bottle, crafted in the same gorgeous colours, a lacquered, metallic, intense and shimmering red. The Alfa Romeo Giulietta car I had ten years ago comes to mind. It was exactly this metallic cherry red colour. Well, the packaging is the same as Lattafa’s other Opulent items, both in the package and in the bottle. I can anticipate that this Eau de parfum is striking because of the intensity of its aroma and the fragrance that belongs to the fruity floral group. From the packaging and the bottle, the first impression could be that of something strongly fruity, sweet, sugary or gourmand. And this, perhaps, is what pushes people to refrain from purchasing it. Opulent Red opens with a blast of aldehydes and strawberry bubblegum. I immediately perceive the dense, sweet and syrupy floral heart notes, with sambac jasmine and tuberose, which perhaps create a bubblegum effect. I can understand why other people associate this fragrance with Alien, they have too much in common in this explosive and intense opening. Yes, they are like two parallel lines, going in the same direction but never meeting. There’s a fruity undertone, not sure if it’s pear, but definitely something semi-sweet and juicy, I think, thanks to the blood orange peel and pulp. The cool spiciness of the cardamom is there, not too heavy, not overpowering, just refreshing, so it never becomes too minty or balsamic. But there is a generous touch of pink pepper, so you must like it because it is noticeable in the initial phase. The heart is opulent. Here we are, thanks to heavy tones of jasmine, tuberose and heliotrope. The first two appear already at the opening, and jasmine is dominant compared to tuberose, while later the almond aspect of the heliotrope exudes and takes part in the scene. Even if it is not too nutty, its vanilla and almond characteristics are perceptible behind the pink woodiness of the Brazilian wood. Sometimes I even get a deep musky note from the green moss, like the moss that grows in the damp, shady forest. I think this dark musk blends very well with the sweetness, keeping Opulent Red from becoming cloying. Well, I don’t get any alcoholic accord in this or other phases, those of the Cognac which should be among the heart notes. Finally, Opulent Red leaves a sweetish powdery trail. Oud is not used in overdose and is never medicinal, scary, or barny. A tamed patchouli balances the otherwise too-sweet base with notes of creamy sandalwood, velvety and mossy cashmeran and toasted tonka bean. If you add vanilla on top of all this, it might become cloying, but instead, it’s perfectly balanced. An oriental touch, not unpleasant, is what remains on the skin for a long time. I wanted to try the comparison with Rouge Malachite, which is very strong on the camphoraceous tuberose note. In Opulent Red, however, the jasmine note predominates. Despite the adjective Opulent, this is not a beastly fragrance. However, it projects a lot in the first hour and lasts many hours, all day or until the next morning with nighttime application. For me, it was a blind purchase, since in Italian stores it is not available as a Middle Eastern fragrance for testing. Furthermore, the fragrance needs time to become pleasant. It took me several tries to completely love it, and now the more I spray it, the more I get the beauty out of it. I’m wearing it this cold spring and I have to say it’s perfect. But I think it’s also great in autumn, both during the day and in the evening. If you love floral, slightly sweet scents, with a strong hint of jasmine and tuberose, and an impulse towards the feminine universe, then Opulent Red could be for you. I based my feelings on a bottle I’ve owned since April 2024.

This is the first fragrance in my collection that has gotten me a compliment from a stranger. This was a complete blind buy based on curiosity of its comparisons and a love for a few of the notes listed. After letting the bottle sit for a month after shipping I gave it a couple of tests at home and was really struggling with where I would be able to wear this out in public and it make sense/not offend because she is strong and funky. The progression on my skin works as; • Pepper, pepper, and some more pepper (10 minutes, not bothersome as I love pepper) • Pepper & Gasoline (5 minutes, nervousness starts to set in) • Straight gas baby (10 minutes, holy shit what have I done) • Gasoline with vanilla starting to peak through (30 minutes, okay maybe there’s something to this) •Vanilla, oud, gas, and dirty florals (10+ hours, why is this so good??) While I liked the ride I still didn’t wear it out until last Saturday, on a complete last minute whim. I’m big into alternative fashion and I dressed full 80s goth for the bars that night. All black, mini dress, fishnets, boots, chunky belt, opera length Madonna gloves, hair to the sky. The look was massive and I stood in front of my collection feeling like all my scents were just a little too small for it. My eyes landed on Opulent Red and in that moment she screamed “big 80s” in my head. My party ready to walk out the door, I quickly grabbed it and sprayed, but this is where I began to really question my life choices that lead to that moment. In a hurry and not thinking too deeply about the largeness of the fragrance, I did my typical 4 spray I use for all my lighter, more office friendly scents. Décolletage, back of the neck, back of the knees, wrists. It all happened so quickly I’d forgotten about the cacophonous progression and its strength. By the time I put on my coat my stomach was in knots thinking I’d just seriously messed up. The walk to the bar I kept getting massive whiffs puffing up through the neck hole in my coat making me more and more anxious. By the time I’d made it to the bar and dancefloor we were in the Gas & Vanilla stage. The dancefloor was sparse with only a couple other gals dancing, so we all danced together. One complimented my outfit before leaning in and saying “wow you smell good”. I gave a nervous chuckle while thinking to myself she must have just caught a trail of the vanilla and she’s in for a rude awakening in a minute. Next song comes and goes, she leans in again and says “but no really you smell really good, what are you wearing?” I stopped dancing in a moment of shock and told her the name, which she seemed to love even more. Now on cloud 9 for the rest of the night, my confidence shot through the roof. It completely changed my thoughts on both the perfume and how overly cautious I’ve been with some of these fragrances. This is your sign to wear the big perfume that scares you! I’ve since washed all items worn that night, my gloves still smell strongly of funky peppery floral gas. Amazing.

I have had this perfume for a little over a month. I can now give you my honest opinion of this perfume by Lattafa called Opulent Red. This perfume seems to either have some people confused, upset, in love or not in love with it. I have read in the comments section of Amazon and Fragrantica that this perfume smelled terribly like gasoline or mature. However, I do see some of their points and I nearly given up on it until after a month of letting this perfume grow on me. This perfume to me is sweet, elegant and classy. It has this creaminess of Vanilla, Tonka Bean, Heliotrope, Jasmine,Tuberose, Cashmeran and Amber. I think why people are smelling gasoline is because there is a mixture of cognac (if you ever drink cognac it smells a tad bit like gasoline in it), patchouli, sandalwood and argawood. Also, I believe that this fragrance is misunderstood because some people immediately spray it on their wrist or paper and immediately 😅 smell it right away and says they smell alcohol. I am guilty of that too, with every fragrance, you will smell the initial alcohol once you spray it on and a true perfumer will tell you to wait 10 to 20 minutes after you spray it on skin before smelling yourself. Heck i still keep forgetting to follow that rule. Also, don't just spray it on paper because you will not get the benefit of it changing. The perfume needs to be on skin in order for it to meld into your chemistry to create an fragrance from within to be expelled outwards. I can only say I genuinely love ❤️ it and my husband, kids, friends and colleagues love the fragrance on me as well. Again, it depends on your body chemistry and also what notes in the fragrance that you love that melds well with your skin. I can't speak for the rest of you....... but if you like, it GREAT but if you don't like it, gift it to a friend or family member who might enjoy it or sell it online like Mecari or Ebay. You are spending less than $30 and that something I would not be upset about.......however I would be upset spending over $100 for a perfume that doesn't work for me or can't return. Lattafa Opulent Red seems like a more of a Niche brand with my all time favorite perfume Rouge Malachite. They both smell similar but different and I did mixed the 2 and I can say, they are both POWERHOUSES together ❤️. All in all I will purchase 2 more bottles as back ups. Rarely do I put my nose to something so unique and yet familiar! I instantly got nostalgia somehow, which shouldn't at all be possible. Then it hit me. This reminds me of alien. This is NOT an alien dupe at all, it’s 100% still its own fragrance. Her ghost does live here though. Her soul encased in this gorgeous red bottle for all time. This fragrance is so unique, that I would suggest throwing the $20 towards it, as I don't think words will ever be able to describe this beautiful potion perfectly, but I will try to give the closest description. So, a YouTuber named Helen, who reviewed this fragrance, said something that was absolutely spot on when I smelled it. "The notes are a mess but somehow work together really well". Yes!! This scent is a gorgeous, hot mess in the most perfect way. It manages to stay sexy, classy and opulent as its namesake, all the while it shouldn't. In the dry down, I get white florals but they are sweet white florals, not at all starched, bitter or sharp. Sweet, dense but ever so gently, pillowy? I told you, it's so mysterious. You get the big heliotrope, light swig of cognac, lots of amber, lots of tonka (I'm realizing that amber and tonka give a more mature elevated sweet vanilla like scent, as oppose to actual vanilla notes) sandlewood and cashmearan for sure. I also get the oud, so any gasoline, rubber or plastic smell its pulling, is likely the oud I presume, which I prefer clean sharp or rubber/plastic/gasoline oud to barnyard oud anyway, personally. I also detect no patchouli at all. I truly wanted leave an extensive review for this fragrance in particular, because not only is it really great, but I was expecting something incredibly challenging based on other feedback, and it was not at all challenging in the least. It simply smells like a much sexier, interesting, elevated and classy mish mash of everything that's being sold on the market right now, with a pinch of oud lol no boogey man to be found here, just a wonderful fragrance, that is definitely worth more than the $20 I spent. Back up bottle worthy for sure. I absolutely LOVE it.

This one is pretty hard to describe, it's very different. I can honestly say, I don't have absolutely anything that smells like this. I totally get the alien essence people speak of, but this isn't as rich as alien, or as beautiful. This is not a dupe of alien by any means, but it smells a bit similar. And, I totally see why people say it reminds them of gasoline. The conac mixed with some of the other notes, definitely gives off some similarities in that smell, but not in a bad way. What's really weird is, getting whiffs of this in the air,smells really different than when you stick your rose right up on it. In the air it's sweeter, fruiter, etc. But up close it smells more medicinal, and a bit harsh, it's rather strange. I've never encountered something like that before. Because of the mix of notes, I can't pick up what I smell first, last, etc. I think I need more time with this one to really break the notes down. It's one of those things you'd just have to try for yourself,especially on skin. It's really different ............................................................ Side note, out of all the opulent line. I'll give a quick little opinion for each one. Opulent musk- most fresh, most clean, good amount of citrus. And the most amount of saffron. Opulent Red - The most unique and most strange. It doesn't smell like anything I own. Least safe blind buy. It's a weird fragrance. Opulent Oud - The most dark, the most rich, the most amount of oud and sweetness. Perfectly unisex. Opulent blue Oud - The easiest to wear, and the least funky. Minimal oud. Has a mineral quality to it. Very mass appealing towards men in my opinion. Leans more masculine than feminine.

I'm still dipping my foot into Arabian fragrances and I know now that maturation is a thing for these blends. I just received OR in the mail today and I have sprayed it ten times. My initial reaction was...yuck...what? I am hit with this intense gasoline/herby smell then grapes and a hint of cognac. I am optimistic though as this was similar to my reaction to Ansaam gold which I'm now in love with. I don't see any grapes listed as a note in this but this is very close to Jean Paul Gautier perfume that smells like grapes, I think it's called so scandal. In fact to me, the opening reminds me of grapevines, very green and slight fruity. I will let it mature for now but right now all I get is cinnamon, clove, grapes, a little cognac, some musk, and sweet licorice. Of course there is a hint of gasoline. UPDATE: This is becoming such an addictive scent I cant stop smelling it. I have to stop myself from spraying this on me everyday just to smell it because I will waste it. It is a comforting scent of spicy cinnamon and sweet fruit. It's very unique, sexy, and definitely unisex. This is almost blind buy safe if you are not scared of cinnamon in your fragrances. I am so happy this turned out better a lot faster than I expected. I am going to love this for the fall!

I'm still debating whether or not, when I die, if I'm buried or aquamated. Bury me with this, and all of my other favorite perfumes. I was afraid of this, because I've never had any perfume with oud before. I'm not longer afraid. The blood orange in this is so rich. I've never had a perfume with blood orange that actually delivered. The blood orange, pink pepper, and cardamom are so playful together. The oud is like a soft undercurrent that caught me off guard in the best way. This is probably the gentlest oud I'll ever experience, and that's a great way to start for someone new to oud, so you're not frightened away. It lasts a solid 8 hours, and my husband smelled it on me when he went to hug me in the afternoon. That's what I want from a perfume. The dry down is something vaguely spicy. Delightful. I feel like it can be worn all year round, depending on your activity. I don't get florals, but that's my nose. Fine by me. I bought for the citrus and the oud. Everyone's nose is different, we all know that, but at first sniff, this smelled just like a blood orange Fanta (definitely the cardamom). Yeah, bury me with this. And to everyone who hates it: more for me!

This definitely retains some of the DNA from the black Opulent Oud, but it’s softer and more feminine. There’s a note in it that smells a little like Bepanthen (if you’re European, you might know what I mean). It has a medicinal aspect, but not in the same way something like Baccarat Rouge does, it’s more bandage-like. To my nose, it’s slightly minty, a bit sharp, and reminds me a lot of makeup. Actually, it smells a lot like a leather makeup bag full of spilled and broken makeup (with some flowers next to it, lol). It’s quite synthetic, but not unpleasant at all to me. It smells like there is rose in here, unlisted. It’s not really gasoline to my nose like others say, it's more of a lipstick smell. I understand why people compare this to Alien, but it doesn’t really smell like Alien. It’s more like a distant cousin, 50 times removed. While this keeps the Opulent Oud DNA, it’s very different from the original black Opulent Oud. This version is much more feminine, creamy, powdery, floral, and pretty. It’s still polarizing, but nowhere near as intense as the black one. It’s a bit calmer and less intimidating.

Beautiful fragrance! I have had it for a year now. It was a weirdo at first—very sharp, chaotic, and gasoline-like. The first few months, I couldn't get it. Then I left it to rest in my wardrobe because I was planning to declutter it at some point. 8 months later, I revisited it again, and, oh boy, did it smell completely different! It was intoxicating, sweet, and had a distant breath of old books in the drydown. Maybe it reminded me of an artist's studio, too. I wore it once, but I was still lukewarm because it was too strong. Fast forward two more months, and I came back to it at the beginning of January. Magic, inspiration, passion, and sweetness are in this perfume! Absolutely perfect! I couldn't believe my nose. I think the maturation helped it a lot. It also changed color; the liquid was pale yellow at first, but now it's pale orange. This means it has real vanilla. I am very pleased with this creation, and I wear it almost every day this week. I even received a compliment from a friend. If you feel like it smells strange, just give it time. Give it a chance. It's wonderful!

If By the Fireplace and the original, pre-reformulated Alien would have a baby, this is how it would smell. Definitely get the smokiness, it stays there throughout the entire time. It's not the most long lasting, beast mode perfume I own, but has decent performance for about 5-6 hours. After this, it's more of a skin scent, but I still get whiffs of it from the clothes and hair. It does smell a bit like gasoline when you apply it, but you need to wait about 20 minutes until it starts to develop into a gorgeous floral-smoky-gourmad indolic jasmine fragrance, similar to the aforementioned perfumes. In the drydown, I find similarities with Alien Fusion as well. I can't really say it's an oud predominant fragrance, IMO it's more of a boozy-floral-incense scent. This is a perfume that deserves a second or a third chance if that gasoline-like smell put you off the first time. The price is crazy good for the quality! EDIT: The longer it macerates, the more of a long-lasting fragrance it becomes. 2.5 years later and now I can get whiffs of it even after 20+ hours later.

Opulent Red is a fitting name for this addictive, intoxicating fragrance. It is lush, sumptuous and rouge. I love the sharp dimension that the pink pepper brings, drenched with the juiciness of the pear and citrus, suffused with the narcotic white florals and substantiated with earthy, smoky resins and woods. I definitely understand the gasoline element mentioned by many others which, in my opinion, just makes this fragrance all the more fascinating. How can all these seemingly disharmonius accords - fruity, smoky, earthy, floral, synthetic and spicy - come together and produce such a gorgeous symphony? I have all the other "Opulents" and this is by far, the most mysterious, the sexiest, the most original and the most "opulent" of them all. The price is a steal for such a gem. The sillage is luscious and the life span is long on the skin. I love Lattafa for making such magnificent fragrances accessible to all. Smelling amazing should not be exclusive to the rich.

Damn, how did I get this for only fifteen euros? You can’t even get a 100ml Zara fragrance for that. That’s pretty crazy to think about. I blind bought it, figuring it was worth the risk. I love white flowers, I love Alien which people seem to compare it to, and the notes in general are all pretty awesome to me. Do I agree that it smells like Alien? No, not at all. Does it give oud to me? Also, no. It’s a very white flowers – amber – blood orange fragrance to me. Very complex, warm and heavy. It’s very perfumey, which I understand why people would say it leans feminine, but it’s still unisex to me. Packaging is good in my opinion, especially for the price. The box is nice and velvety, and while I’m usually not a fan of the red and gold combo, and I often find that the very standard, primary red color – compared to different shades of red – can look cheap, but I like this bottle. Maybe it’s the metallic feel that it has that makes it more classy to me.

This is what makes perfumes interesting to me; the fact that something that smells absolutely gorgeous on one person can smell like gasoline to another. Opulent Red smells divine on me (I am a 45 year old female) and smells great on my 28 year old niece and my 15 year old daughter. It’s got this rich fruity burst in the opening and then mellows into something more sophisticated and pretty for the rest of its time. On my clothes, it stays for over 24 hours and maintains the opening notes of being fruity, jammy, sweet blend with a splash of Oud to make it more complex. I feel bad for those who are smelling gasoline because this is a perfume that is a love from me and gets me compliments everything I wear it. So test on your skin before you buy. By now, it should be a no brainer that what you smell on a piece of paper can never be the same as what will radiate off your skin when you apply it. 💛💛💛💛💛 from me and with the price, easily a repeat buy for me.

I've put my hands on this gem 2 days ago. Was a blind buy. Last night I had a dream of this. I was showing it to my friend and said to her that this is a statement fragrance. If you want to be noticed wear it! I can hardly remember ever having a dream about a perfume. I guess it shows my enthusiasm level😄. Needless to say, the first spray was love at first sniff. I was outside in a park and just felt that this fits so well the autumn. It is beautiful, feminime end unique. Complex enough to my nose, I do gravitate towards heavy perfumes lately. It's not heavy though, but sweat and spicy, well balanced. And the drydown...omg I can smell it on me in the next morning, it is stunning with the warm vanilla. Definitely signature worthy. I need to test it further to see the reactions. Update - yeah people like it, its stunning, smoky, smooth. Longevity and projection is very nice. Its a keeper🙂

At first sniff....I was like...ok...been here, done that. Tested on perfume test strip. Then I put it on my skin. I right away got pear/mandarin/with pink pepper. Then the mid notes open...sweet yet woody florals..verging on indolic, followed by the smoothing out phase with the base notes....which in the end makes this semi-unisex... The sweetness stays thru out ....and IMO...the dry down brings out the base notes on top of the top and mid-notes. On the paper...it was VERY sweet, but on the skin, I got much less sweetness.(but,it is a sweet scent for sure.) This scent may remind you of a combo of many scents you've sniffed before, but it somehow "works". If it IS a clone/dupe of something....I can't quite figure it out yet. Hoping to hear about other reviews and see what the outcome is. Performance, IMO, is above average. Lattafa has been surprising me a lot lately !!

This is my second review. I selled it a year ago, because I had way too many perfumes back then and I didn't pick this up very often. But now fall comes again and I was craving this, so I repurchased. I don't know what I was waiting for, as this is sooo beautiful sooo ssseexyyy on my skin. Literally a powdery vanilla bomb. This is just bomb. I don't get the gasoline vibe now, however I think I know how people might interpret the notes as gasoline. I am not the biggest fan of the fruity opening, I don't really like blood orange which I can pick up the most, but it is fine, just because of the drydown. The initial fruity, slightly synthetic blast goes away quite quickly, like in 20 mins and then comes out the smooth vanilla base. Oh man, this is good stuff. Very long lasting too.

This is a rather strange scent to me. When I first sprayed it, it had a terrible leathery smell mixed with sweet notes; I didn't smell any gasoline or plastic like others mentioned. A few hours later, I sprayed it again and it surprised me greatly. The disgusting leather smell was gone, replaced by a very sweet fruity scent mixed with vanilla and woody note. By the way, this scent has nothing to do with Alien or Rouge Malachite, its very unique. I was completely blind-buy because it was so cheap (20$) and the bottle was beautiful. I think I can use it daily from now on, but I'll try letting it macerate for a few weeks to reach its full potential. In short, it's a pretty great scent for me.

When I first bought it I could smell strong gasoline smell with the first few initial sprays (this might be the oud). So I didn't like it and was disappointed. However, I left it to stand for 2 months and I can't smell gasoline anymore. To me this is powdery, oudy/woody, white floral heavy scent with some fruity sweetness and freshness. Now I actually really enjoy it and I think this can be quite addictive and interesting. I would like to hear other people's opinion on that perfume when I wear it outside. This is definitely not a safe blind buy and seems to be very polarizing. You either love it or hate it :-) It is a bold and out there perfume but I can't wait now to use it more.

This is a great unisex eau de parfum for women that like resinous scents or men that like sweet scents with a smoky incense like undercurrent. Overall, I would say this has a scent DNA matrix similar to Hypnotic Poison by Dior which is due to the richly sweet heart of tuberose and jasmine. Also, the cognac accord adds this boozy faucet to the perfume that gives off a warm licorice component in the dry down. P.S. Longevity and sillage are wonderful for the price, however would not recommend wearing in summer and or late spring because scent can pack a punch that can be slightly cloying. Rating: strong 8.5/10

I blind bought this based on a you tube video. For the price point, I thought that if it’s bad I’ve not wasted lots of money. My first spray in my skin, “no, I don’t like this, the orange and cardamom is screechy” but then I let is settle for about 10 minutes and mellow on my skin. I love it. The dry down is so well blended, the vanilla isn’t obvious but I can smell sweet woods and florals. It’s just powdery enough to give it a feminine edge without feeling old fashioned and the amber gives it a lovely oriental vibe. I think I could wear this during the winter in the day and not feel overwhelmed.

Beautiful perfumery! I bought it off of the strength of the smell on the tester strip. Those floral notes hooked my nose in a seductive manner. Yes its definite more feminine leaning than masculine but despite that, its still smell so good. Its a polarizing perfume. I got it for 10 brunei/Singapore dollars! It was an older batch from 2022 Its better than afnan 9pm. You'd have to be crazy and extremely confident to use this perfume as a man. It befits a king. not the common man. perhaps layer it with masculine dna perfume if you don't feel comfortable with it 😃

One of very few vaguely spicy scents I can stomach. This is such a unique, intoxicating mix of notes that you can't fully place any one above the other - like Zoë101 said below, the notes are a mess that somehow synchronise perfectly into this sexy, enticing, slightly exotic little number that will be a guaranteed compliment magnet on a night out. Assertive without being challenging, busy without being incoherent, there without being overpowering, this is a surprisingly deep fragrance considering the price point.

I have purchased blind buy this perfume because I like the notes, but initially, it was really horrible.. It smells like gasoline and smoke. But then, I let it sit for a month and.. Wow! The scent has literally changed because of the maceration and now I'm finally starting to like it! So sweet blood orange, Incredible! Now it's one of my favorite perfume 😊 and the packaging is very well done with a red velvet gorgeous box..❤️🌹 It is not an Alien dupe, and I would say fortunately! Since I don't like Alien 😅

One of the strongest fragrances I own. Beast longevity and room filling in the first few hours. What incredible value for money. Initially, I could not stand this scent. It was so overwhelming and overly synthetic. A few weeks in my closet did wonders. Now I get white flowers, smokey wood, red pepper, pear and blood orange. It's still artificial, but beautiful. Opulent Red is female leaning for sure. I wore it on my Vegas holiday all the time, it was perfect for a wild night out.

Giorgio Armani Rouge Malachite and Yves Saint Laurent Supreme Bouquet in the same flask... That's Lattafa Opulent Red. The main accords shown here in Fragrantica are just not to trust. There is no oud whatsoever in the fragrance and other woods are barely noticeable. In short, this remarkable perfume is... [sweet] [floral] [fruity] [resinous] [smoky] [more feminine than unisex] [quite oriental] [compliment magnet] [seductive] [magical like a wand] ... and I am glad I bought it!

I thought I would hate this! As I just detest sweet white florals buuut this fragrance is evidently floral woods, so if you hate woody notes combined with white florals steer clear! On the dry down it is quite sweet, but I think the woody notes help to prevent the sweetness from going overboard, but after a couple of hours it becomes a really nice comforting and cozy woody dominant but powdery white floral. Definitely not a light white floral fragrance ... it is Lattafa hahaha.

This scent is absolutely gorgeous!!!!! I was scared reading the reviews that this will smell nasty but it really doesnt. I get no gasoline what so ever!!! Smells like alien but more medicinal and with ALOT of smoke!!! Very sexy. Strong projection and lasts all day !!! The scent is smoky and medicinal and to me i get a grape smell just like in alien even tho its not in the notes. Its woody. Earthy. And a bit sweet on me.

Underrated beauty. I don’t pick up any displeasing notes whatsoever I must say it is a very overpowering fragrance and the notes do seem quite muddled but the overall execution works very well. I get a very deep and dark sexy vibe. Smells very wealthy and powerful. Longevity - 7-8 hours Projection - incredible super powerful fragrance sprayed it on a tester one time and could smell it from across the room

This fragrance gives me similar vibes to stricnina. I have tried Stricnina but i guess it was in the wrong season so i found it a bit too much (coughing "oversprayer") this however is more bearable and already thinking of getting a backup bottle. Floral and fruity powerbomb and I don't know, addictive I just adore this one. Performance is amazing and honestly for the price what more could you want?

Oddly interesting. I definitely feel the Alien vibe. Opening has a punchy, gasoline, orris root vibe. First hour is definitely fem and fruity. Then it gets wonderfully dusty and oddly cold. I love it as is but it layers nicely with a simple patchouli or nag champa oil. The oud is fairly subtle but definitely gives it that slightly animallic seggsiness. Beast projection and sillage.

I immediately smell an extravagant red fruit scent, extremely seductive. A complex perfume that fills a room and lasts very well. At least in my case, if I wear it, I either get compliments or I often get negative reactions. Although it seems more feminine, as a boy I love wearing it. From Lattafa I also have Khamrah Qahwa and Fakhar Black. My rating for this perfume is 10/10

imo, maybe, some perfumes need a trained noise. i know every taste are different. you can dislike opulent red, but you can't say it's bad. if you smell gasoline it means the perfum as to sit a little. spray a little than but it back in her box and comme back one or 2 months later. so many facettes, so brilliant. for this price. thanks again Lattafa for this niche masterpiece

I must have lucked into finding a properly aged bottle. This incredibly similar to my vintage Alien, and a very suitable alternative to Armani Prive Rouge Malachite. Since I enjoy the notes listed, I knew this would be a “no brainer” $20 purchase. But, you must love having an assertive jasmine heavy perfume. This projects and lasts!

This is a lot of white florals. Smells smoothly blended to me. I don’t get the petroleum/ chemical issue on my skin at all. There is a slight doll’s head vibe from the tuberose, but this is pleasant to my nose. It definitely projects, so no need to overspray. Worth trying if you typically like jasmine and tuberose fragrances.

I freakin love this oddball perfume! It reminds me of the weirdness of Mugler fragrances and I’m a fan of how unique and quirky this is. It is definitely a perfume that I wear for myself when I want to feel sassy and playful. Wearing this makes me feel more open minded and reminds me to be patient and not rush to judgement.

I love this!!! Settles so nice on the skin after 10 mins or so! Sexy smell, a bit flirtatious kinda scent, I could easily see a leather jacket lady in a bar having a glass of red wine(perhaps a cigarette in the hand),takes me back in the 80's for some bizzare reason, interesting fragrance 100% unique!

As soon as I smelled this fragrance, I thought this is a less oudy but smokier, fruitier version of ALIEN OUD MAJESTUEUX and indeed they share five of the main notes. AOM is creamier, smoother, more refined. Still, a great find, excellent price.

GOOD BLIND BUY The start is synthetic for sure, however the dry down after around 10-20minutes is a nice warm vanilla, grapey,incense Smell with hints of blood orange.Defenertly underrated and over hated.

What a beautiful gem!!! IMO, beautiful coco tuberose. Reminds me a lot Wild Python and Noix de Tubéreuse. Beast mode! A little bit medicinam, but I LOVE it. One of my best blind buy.

LOVE it on me! Soooo good! I can't stop sniffing my arm, beautiful done,no Alien comparison at all! This is creamy,soft, very sexy perfume on my skin :-)

to complete my review, i'll say it's not mass appeailing, maybe not blind buy safe (but for this price maybe), it's a niche scent , in my noise.

Smells like when I played with my Strawberry Shortcake doll, in the sun, during summer vacation in 1982. Love it Lasts all day too.

Luxury in a bottle " Red Opulent" is 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

This might explain the low rating: a first-spray issue, and people immediately rating the whole fragrance based on something that refuses to play it safe. Indeed, the opening is an extra-weird mess — feels like a nasty blend of random scents, kind of gasoline and bandage-like medicinal blast. I'd be lying if I said it's smooth right off the bat. An unexpected pink pepper jolt punctuates those first frantic minutes, slicing through the petrol-bandaid chaos. Stick around, though, and the scene shifts. After it chills out for a while, it gives off a fruity vibe with a dominant red orange and a bit of burnt sugar and a bubblegum undertone. The core is a white-flower jasmine and tuberose bomb laid on woody, creamy vanilla. Oud feels very light — it might account for stealth-mode soft woodiness or might not exist at all. At skin level, it reveals a tamed patchouli streak and toasted tonka bean. Overall, the drydown is luxurious, with its loud, boozy, dusty cognac warmth and a super-round, leatherish profile. Not subtle at all. Truth be told, I rarely reach for this one myself — it leans feminine strongly and I prefer it on my girlfriend, but since I last used it about a year ago, I feel its quality has relatively improved. Its place is on cool autumn-winter evenings due to its atomic performance: all-day longevity with a sillage bubble of at least two-three meters. The bottle is a bit unassuming compared to what's inside. Considering how all-around decent Opulent Red ultimately is, it's unduly hated on and misunderstood. Many low ratings likely stem from buyers expecting an expensive Western perfume clone at a cheap price. If you like to gamble, it's a bargain for a unique but polarizing gem — an absolutely unsafe blind buy, niche-worthy vibe. Either you'll blow everyone (you included) away or love wrapping yourself in that aura. Definitely one of those fragrances that upgrade over time, both short- and long-term. Don't dismiss it on first blast — it rewards the patient collector. Scent: Very beautiful Scent. It's sweet, fruity, and floral. I'd say it's modern with a touch of maturity. The fragrance starts off with a blast of sweetness and fruitiness coming from the pear and blood orange. A bit later you get the floral and a bit of oud. Finally, at least to me, you get the vanilla. Great Scent, but my only con with it is that this leans more feminine than unisex. The fragrance doesn't become unisex till the third hour of application. So for the first 3 hours you'll be smelling pretty feminine. I've seen some reviews that state that this is "heavily masculine", but I have to disagree. I also have read that this has a "gasoline" smell to it? I don't get that at all lol. Maybe in earlier batches, but not on mine. I kinda would've loved that tho, might've made the fragrance more masculine lol, but oh, well. Lovely scent, but I don't know if I'll be able to rock it that often, since I'm a guy. But who knows, maybe I'll change my mind on it and rock it more often later on. Performance: This fragrance is no slouch! This thing is Beast Mode in terms of Projection. This thing will fill the room you're in for the first 30mins-1hr. The sillage for the first 30mins will also fill up the hallway as you walk and pass by. I got around 10hrs of Longevity with this scent, so the longevity is pretty good! I have a 6/23 batch btw. Great Performance for the $20 I paid. Seasons: Since this fragrance is thick and sweet, it's more for colder days and nights. So more for Fall and Winter, but you could also wear it in Spring during cooler days.

First impressions straight from the box: I started sniffing my (blind buy) haul from this one cause I felt that it was the riskiest. I was full on bracing myself for the gasoline smell or something nasty. But what the hell, this is not horrible? It's definitely weird scent, but I oddly I can understand and smell most of the notes listed if I try. The opening has a odd feel of a pear that has sat maybe a little too long, but not pear in a super gourmand way. It also has a boozyness.. maybe a pear liquor vibe? (or gasoline for some, but tbh I like the smell of gasoline also, so take this with a grain of salt I guess xD) And a whooole lotta white florals. A deep middle-eastern woodyness the more it dries down, possibly oud but I'm not good at differentiating that. Def more florals than woods, but they are there. It is super sweet, but somehow cold? I feel like when I stare at the notes listed it absolutely makes sense but in no way would have I guessed this smell from them? Haven't smelled Alien or Rouge Malachite so can't compare. I'll let it sit for a while and will try to update later! Update: I was smelling Narida from Lattafa and that one made me pull put Opulent red after a long time and compare it. They don't smell the same, but in my head they are in the same scent category of odd but pretty. I'll have to be honest, I haven't worn this out and about yet, but it has gotten better and smoother. To me this smells like a ripe pear with ambery booze and rich white florals. Perfumey, sweet and rich.

I liked it on a friend and asked her about the name, which couldn’t remember. Next week she gifted me a bottle because I liked it on her. This fragrance stayed long on my wishlist hoping for Rough Malachite dope. Unfortunately, this doesn’t work for me. It smells sickly sweet. syrupy, with underlying berry notes, tuberose bomb, synthetic sweety amber accords, and overwhelming sweet vanilla like bourbon vanilla. The woody nuances here, ( I notice only the cashmeran), are reminiscent of Elizabeth Tylor line, specially the rouge one. But the latter has more balanced notes. When a lady with this fragrance trail passes by you, you would think: Gosh, from which photo album did she scape out! Mostly 90s vibes. One absolute fact about OR is that it’s seductive in a cheap way. A kind of what a grownup prostitute with red sexy extremely tight and short outfit with high heels, standing outside of a night club in las vegas or miami would wear. I feel shy to go outside wearing it, as it has sexual appeal, and the sillage sends unintentionally strong signals getting you massive attention. Overall, It’s not a bad scent, has no gasoline smell, neither has plastic notes. It’s just not for everybody. It’s more intimidating than a crowd pleaser, I’m thinking to give it a chance and make it work. By waiting until cooler months and try it again, maybe layer it with some musky, floral or woody scents. For the people who enjoy this fragrance, which layering combo would you advice?

EDIT: My OG bottle of Opulent Red has oxidized, not macerated, well. It's almost the only fragrance I've been wearing for 6-7 weeks. I actually bought a second bottle because I'm running low. I NEVER finish an entire bottle of perfume. It's a lovely, heavy floral with a bit of fermented fruitiness. Absolutely a 10/10 for me. This was a blind buy and as an Alien lover, Opulent Red works for me. I do pick up the soapy jasmine that I love in Alien. But if you're looking for an Alien dupe, this is not it. Like Alien, this is going to be a love or a hate, no in-between. The pink pepper keeps her from being too sweet. The booze note is subtle and sometimes I can't find it at all. She's more sophisticated than what her price would lead you to assume. 40% Alien, 60% Middle Eastern, sweet floral. I have Opulent Oud and Opulent Musk from this line and both of those are very unisex and the oud is prominent. I am not really picking up anything more than the barest whisper of oud in Opulent Red. If you like Alien this is an easy blind buy. I paid less than $20US on Amazon. For that much it's a low risk buy. Not for those that don't want anyone else to enjoy their fragrance. Not for freshie lovers. Not for those who can't find beauty in a cheapie. If you have the budget for high end niche fragrances this will be too synthetic for you. This is an 8.5-9.0/10 for me.

With a mfg date of 2/24, I figured my bottle would be good to go straight away...but this went to perfume jail after a few wears to oxidize. I got mostly red berries (the blood orange and pear, I guess) and tuberose that had a distinct dentist office smell. Maybe there's a fluoride treatment flavour that smells strongly of the mix, but that's all my mind could place, which sadly put me off this bottle for a while. After a two-month time out, I'm glad to find that it has changed. The white florals are still the loudest piece from start to finish to my nose, but now I'm also able to pick out the woody tones and the warm vanilla and tonka bean. Initial spray still gives dentist, but it fades out in under ten minutes and the dry down is rather warm and cozy, which is a pleasant surprise. The longevity and projection are insane with just one spray, especially for a perfume which cost me $23 CAD. This was by far the most challenging bottle from the Opulent lineup for me initially, but I'm really growing to like it. Depending on how this behaves over the next few months, this may actually be upgraded to a love.

I absolutely agree with everyone who says that the first time (perhaps even the first month) they tried this scent it smelled like straight up GASOLINE. BUT...DON"T get rid of it just yet, y'all. Take the bottle outside, spray it about 10 times away from you into the wind, then put it on your shelf for a month. No, it isn't going to MAGICALLY become Rouge Malachite, but it does have in common with that perfume the usual notes that make RM smell medicinal to some. I think it RM has a hint of Carmex, CLASSIC LIP BALM, Original Jar. Opulent Red smells just like this and it has that nailed. So if the medicinal note of the Clary sage and tuberose together in RM is what you love, then give this one a month or two in the back of of your collection just sitting back there. I mean it only costs around $17-22 US dollars, what do you really have to lose?
