Ser Al Malik

After spending more time with this fragrance, I’ve noticed it retains a distinct sweet and sour, almost tangy nuance, that I find incredibly appealing. I still get a little bit of the big mac sauce, which is not as potent as it was when I first tried the fragrance (don't get me wrong, I never disliked the big mac undernote! It was most likely from the oriental spices, sour tanginess and different woody nodes). It’s a beautifully balanced composition of soft florals paired with a sweet and spicy edge. The performance is solid, especially for the price. There’s a kinda fresh "cologne"(ish?) vibe throughout, which, when combined with the soft florals and vibrant citrus notes, makes it a perfectly unisex scent. It leans slightly soapy and powdery, adding a clean, refined touch to its profile. The dry-down is mostly warm and spicy, the other notes become gentle and the spices, musk and woodiness take over. Sadly though, I have no damn clue if the one I have is the male one or the female one. It just smells unisex. So I do not know which version of the perfume I am smelling 😭 Overall, it’s a pleasant oriental fragrance, subtly spicy yet gentle, with an understated elegance. It feels versatile for an arabic fragrance. It definitely grew on me a lot!

Ok hear me out regarding Malika. It's giving Mugler Angel Flanker with a splash of middle eastern vibes. I'm in love. No wonder the reviews down below are so divisive. Angel has to be the most polarizing scent in history. Notes for Malika: Saffron, Cinnamon, Apple Oud, Sandalwood, Patchouli Amber and vanilla This is beautiful and elegant. If Mugler would have put this juice into the Angel Elixir bottle they came out with recently, it would have put them back in the spotlight in a beautiful way. WOW. Intense. Mysterious. Elegant. Try it if you're team Angel. Layer a sweat cotton candy perfume over it and you'll be in the sweetest most elegant perfume bubble all day! Welcome.

This is a very interesting fragrance... I oddly get a Big Mac smell from it. I know it sounds strange, but that’s literally what I smell, a sexy Big Mac. Especially when I pull away and stop sniffing, the Big Mac scent is the most prominent in my nose until I take another breath. It’s weird, and I can’t really explain it, but strangely enough, I like it.

This fragrance smells very expensive and gives off a mysterious vibe. It’s bitter , spicy , and slightly sweet. The dry down is my favorite, that’s where it shines. Also, long lasting on skin. Definitely for Dressed up occasions. Not a blind buy though, unless your into that.

I have Malika, the female version. It's soft, light and elegant. I'd love for it to be listed on here too.

Nose Note #89 Something sweet and smokey/oudy. The sweetness is a little fruity or flowery, not quite sure. Definately more feminine. Long-lasting, can get a bit boring as it doesn't develop much. Has a strong middle-eastern vibe. Not something you find in designer brands. Interesting, more memorable than not. But I wasn't blown away

My mom loves it, but she thinks it is suitable for men too. I'd beg to differ (or perhaps its not just my cup of tea)

This is so intense its OFFENSIVE. I thought i would like it since i like many lattafa scents but this is... too spicy too aromatic i sneezed right after I smelled it. I didn't even want to spray it since it was THAT intense and it would leave the house smelling like cheap spicy incense... this does not smell at all floral, it's pure spice and woods. though if you like that, go for it.

Second Impression review below, first was in a small shop that had the older brown fluted glass bottle with an ornate gold cap the size and shape of a ping pong ball. The new square bottle is v sleek and has the quiet confidence of true luxury. Ser Al Malik (gents version, brown box, actual subject of this page, the one i have 😆) is unisex, imo, and is squarely and an epically larger than life middle eastern rose confection that isn't confined to the vintage scent space. This was well-blended and pleasant right out of the box. (I was elated. And Lattafa has been doing well on releasing bottles that don't need to be matured/oxidized/'macerated'.) The Ser Al Malik belongs in the line up right next to Guerlain's Shalimar, Gucci Bloom Parfum, Paul Sebastian Design, Dana's Tabu, Cacheral Anaïs Anaïs, YSL's Cinema, Dior's Dune, Lancôme's Poeme, Borghese's Il Bacio, and Chanel Eau Premiere & Paris-Paris. I heard that Malika (ladies version) is a lighter more accessible and easier to wear version of the Khamrah DNA. ONCEmy Khamrah Qahwah finishes, I'm getting one stat! Note: This scent's page is in shambles. It's titled for the men's Ser Al Malik. The woman's Ser al Malika does not even have a page on the site.😮💨 The scent pyramid is incomplete but is evidently for the Men's version. And lastly, the reviews are predominantly for Ser Al Malika. 😅

There are two different perfumes in this series , the first one is for men ser al malik (Secret of the King) and the second is for women ser al malika (Secret of the Queen). Fragrantica combined the two perfumes in one description. None of them has those listed notes. I have the Ser Al Malika Attar Al Ghalia, the one for women, and imo it's matured into something really lovely but i don't really want to do a review here bc this seems to be the listing for the men's scent and there's no listing for the women's??? but yeah, if you're shopping for one or the other, the women's has the white box, the men's has the brown box!

I LOVE "ser al malikA" from Lattafa. I didn't even know there is a "ser al malik" that is for men. Ser al malika isn't even listed on Fragrantica :(
