Suqraat

With my review I will make comparison to Profumo since that will be a large part of why some will be exploring this scent. It’s why I explored it. Despite Suqratt not showing it, there’s an incense note that’s a common thread across both scents. Above the incense, where Profumo utilises a herbal rosemary citrus marine, Suqratt’s note construction delivers a fruity light ginger herbal aquatic. I use the note descriptions for each in that order intentionally for impression. Below the incense where Profumo uses a soft warming patchouli as an undercurrent, with Suqratt I still detect a light amount of patchouli but it’s thickened out with a somewhat dense but neutral feeling musk. On a personal note, I don’t normally like patchouli, but in both scents it’s handled so well I can’t help but enjoy it. With both scents the incense weaves the top and bottom together to form a complex, comforting scent that I can not deny leaves me feeling that Suqratt captures a significant amount of Profumo’s DNA. That’s instantly recognisable as soon as you apply it. I also get, perhaps surprisingly, the same sense of comfort from both. The difference however is that Suqratt’s overall tone is lighter and somewhat more aquatic/translucent, where as Profumo is a bit more herbal and heavier of the two largely because of the patch in the base. I will emphasise that they both have solid complexity in their wear though, just a different tone in each with Suqratt being somewhat lighter. As far as durability, with both Profumo and Suqratt I find the top somewhat uneventful. They both seem to need about 15 minutes to warm up and start developing/projecting. Then at the 2 hr mark both scents start to taper off but Profumo gets the longer wear for the fact that it uses patch in the base. That said on my skin Suqratt still has good longevity and I think that’s in part because there’s a very slight amount of ambroxan in the base to stretch it out, but it’s so well handled it’s not in any way distasteful or distracting, thank goodness. Despite these differences I find I love them both very much equally and I will almost certainly wear them as often as each other.

I honestly think this is great. As you can expect, lemony-zesty opening that doesnt really disappear throughout. Nice oceanic, airy frag with very subtle woods and nice musk. It is quite linear (although I'm only 3 hours into the first full day wear) and it'll be the zesty, airy, soft woody, musky scent. There isn't much incense outstanding from the rest of it but the musk can be a little incensey to my nose which I think compliments everything elso going on. I was gifted a 4-set of samples from Armani about 12-15years ago and I haven't smelt any of them since. I can say that Suqraat reminds exactly of what the EDT smelt like. Sprayed about 6-8 maybe and keep getting nice wafts of it from arms length. Hoping it persists for a good few hours. Value for money in unrivalled with this. EDIT: Now 6 1/2(ish) hours in. Pretty much a skin scent now, wish I had the bottle with me to reapply as I still enjoy the scent just as much as when it was projecting well. Fragrance performs on clothes better imo and definitely more woody/musky.incensey and less citrussy/fresh on clothes. Still happy with the purchase in terms of value for money and will wear it again.

I really don’t get the obsession with this DNA. After hearing the fragrance community rave about how Lattafa Suqraat brought the legendary Acqua di Giò Profumo back from the dead, I had to try it. If this is what everyone was mourning, I think it should have stayed buried. I’m a huge fan of the original Acqua di Giò. The OG is a masterpiece because it’s clean, airy, and smells like a fresh Mediterranean breeze. But this? To my nose, this is just a musty mess. Instead of smelling "deep" or "masculine," it smells like a group of guys who just finished a heavy gym session and tried to cover it up with an old-school herbal spray. There is a damp, heavy quality here likely the mix of incense and patchouli that feels dated and "sweaty" rather than fresh. It lacks all the transparency and "sparkle" that makes the original ADG so good. If you want to smell like a damp locker room, the hype is real. But if you actually want to smell clean and pleasant, stick to the original or move on to something modern like Profondo. Don't believe the hype if you hate "musty" scents"

Working my way through my Lattafa's . Today is the turn of "Suqraat". Apparently, as my good friend from Jordan informed me..it means "Socrates" in English. Firstly I really like the bottle and presentation. Beautiful Arabic writing on the front in a large script .Strange silver webbing pattern on the bottle. Looks great! Very large, sturdy bottle and cap and a good sprayer. Anyway, the scent is basically a 90% clone of Giorgio Armani's Acqua di Gio Profumo. I have owned the original, and while I thought it was a very good fragrance I had longevity issues with my batch. Suqraat seems to last really well on me and has survived a full work day. Had a few compliments as well. As with AdG Profumo it's a very classy, and likable fresh, woody scent with the aquatic/marine like DNA. If I am being overly critical, you don't quite get as much of the incense note in the dry down as the original, but for under $20 this is an excellent alternative and I can barely tell the difference!

So amazing! I love the ADG DNA, but I have never actually tried Parfumo I've only tried three different dupes, and this one and Aribyat Prestige Raaes Luxury Edition. I think this one and the Raaes are too notch. I think this one is a little more juicy and bright and cheery overall than the Raaes(probably more ginger), and the Raaes is more spicy, and incense intense than Suqrat. Both very close, both last forever for me, and projection is about the same. Overall I don't know which I like better they are both incredible and about the same price considering you get a giant bottle with the Raaes. I think most enthusiasts for the real thing, and also just most frag heads in general would pick the Raaes. By the way does anyone else think the writing above Suqrat says blow?
