Emma

I had this perfume delivered this morning. I'd placed the order it before reading the reviews below. I thought I'd made a huge mistake and expected it to be a stinker! I usually let perfumes stand for a week before spraying in my bizarre mind to let them settle. From the first spray it's a straight up heavy floral. The oud is in the background but the top and middle notes smell like my mothers flower garden in mid summer. I remember this smell from the Laura Ashley shops in the mid 80's, though I never owned a bottle. All day I have been sniffing my top as its a gorgeous floral- very different from all the others I own. There is almost a honey note I can detect. It's fragrance has survived a foccacia making session from scratch and making a seafood pasta for my husband. I'm going to stock up on this gem before it disappears. I think it smells more expensive than some of the very expensive scents I own.

Bought from the Laura Ashley site.The nose knows. It is an insult to compare this cheap knockoff with the original Emma. Smells like it came from the dime store. Who the hell developed this sickening scent.? They are obviously too young to have ever smelled the original. and by the way, that powdery scent you replaced was part of the original appeal. Call it something else, because to call it Emma is deceptive. What a waste of 50 bucks. I live on my social security income, and I am a very unhappy camper! Came today and already gone in the bin.

The current Emma is no doubt a floral, mostly flowers from a citrus tree, I can't tell which, but neroli is listed, so it must be that. The neroli isn't as sharp as usual, as this fragrance also has a bit of the fermenting fruit sweetness going on. At the same time, there is a kind of in your face heaviness with what I think is patchouli, but could be the oud. The heaviness I'm refering to reminds me of Narciso Rodriguez For Her or Chloe Chloe, with all their heavy in-your-nose seductive florals. Not at all something that would make you smell shower fresh, or innocent. It makes me think of a body that has been perfumed in neroli/patchouli and has been through a whole day and beginning to get a little sticky and oily, but not necessarily in a bad way. I'm just surprised as the name and the package designs made me think it would be different from this. Starts as dewy green notes, as listed, with sweet juicy white flowers, and oud announces itself quite soon and further amplifies with time. Most of the time the oud dominates, with neroli falling to a secondary place. So it ends up being rather a darker floral on my skin than what I think most other people experience. White flowers are usually "fluffy", but this one is not.

I received a sample of Emma, very floral, can smell gardenias which I love when light...dry down nice, still floral...I would love to smell original. I would buy this.
