Musc Blanc

I have been very lucky with almost all the Laurence Dumont fragrances that I've tried. I got this is a fabulous 4x10ml sampler box that includes: Vanille Bourbon, Vanille Pamplemouse, Figue Sauvag and Musc Blanc. I ended up getting full-sized bottles of each. Musc Blanc to me is like your favorite snuggly cashmere blanket or sweater after a warm bath. It is not a statement maker but a lovely soft floral musk just memorable enough that your kids will remember you smelling like that when they snuggled in your lap for you read them their bedtime stories and your hubby will remember that smell of you doing whatever "quiet time" or meditative thing you do. To me it's the loveliest personal scent of skin but better.

This is the only perfume I can wear when I'm sick. It's a joyfully soft scent, and somehow feels uplifting although not bracing, "hugging" although not enveloping. It makes me happy but also a tiny bit wistful, which I like. I don't feel it as a skin scent for me, though, for it's a touch too spicy and foody. If your skin smells a little like this I envy you. ;) Mine is more along the lines of EL's Sensuous Nude and Avon's Sweet Honesty with their similar honey notes. Musc Blanc and Sweet Honesty are nearly note-for-note, but the tarragon and the ambrette make little spicy clouds that float around the former, while in the latter the honey and hyacinth are thickening. Like MrsLetterO says, it's a foody rose in Musc Blanc! The first time I wore this, I looked around twice wondering if my neighbours in the front apartment of my house were cooking something delicious. Musc Blanc is so comforting and familiar. The only place I would wear this out is... to Grandma's! I feel a little vulnerable when I wear Musc Blanc. I have scented some of my pyjamas with it around the back of the neckline. On fabric, the tarragon note is really noticeable and makes me think of an herb garden. Sweet dreams...

I love skin scents. And this musc blanc is wonderful! My usual daily-wear fragrance is Jovan White Musk (I make no apologies for wearing inexpensive fragrances - if it smells good to me, I usually buy & wear it). I bought this one after reading about it's white musky, heaven-like creaminess. At first spray, it's an innocent citrus/fruit/soapy smell, though I can't put my finger on what it is... Must be the Lilly of the valley and ambrette? Usually, I stay away from florals because they tend to smell "old lady" on me, but thankfully, there's none of that happening here! :) About five minutes later that same scent becomes like a creamy-citrus-lotion sorta-scent. One hour later, I am enjoying the reason this fragrance is so liked. It enfolds into this creamy cake-like lemon musk that reveals itself to others around you through your skin's warmth. Compared to Jovan White Musk, it's brighter, a little more flowery, whereas the former is a more woody, dry yet creamy white musk. It's nice and it layers well with my JWM.

I came across Les Senteurs quite by acccident...I was looking through some sale stuff at House of Fraser. After searching I found Vanille violette and Vanille Pamplemousse (the 2 notes I can't resist)and ordered them blind. Sometimes you just get lucky. Pamplemousse is my find of the year so far. I'm in love. So I bought this too and it doesn't disappoint for one clear reason and that is because on me it smells like turkish delight. OMG. The rose isn't typical because it's rose found in cooking. Not easy to find where I live I'll be calling my mate in France over this one!

Have given this one a few wears and it seems to be a bit different every time. The first few seconds of this remind me of the smell of a YMCA. Something akin to chlorine. It's not bad/offensive though. The musk itself is mildly creamy/fatty and so there is definitely a slight gourmand quality going on here. The tarragon note is fresh and unique, the rose is very soft. I find this makes a good bedtime scent. It's soft, comforting and completely non-intrusive.
