Veleno Doré

Ugh. I wanted to hate it for the price, but I fell in love instead. On me, it is unique indeed- a superbly blended sweet-leaning chypre that remains multi-dimensional as the hours pass (I love that in a fragrance). I get rum, tobacco, cherry and honey resting on a chypre bed. You should test it for a day, it's not a blind-buy kind of scent. It's not too sweet, it's not too chypre, it's just about perfect. The price is obscene, otherwise I would buy a full bottle, certainly. This is the only tobacco fragrance I can tolerate on my skin. While the note is prominent, it stays firmly as just a part of the composition and does not impose. Damn it. I love it. Edit: I've been wearing it for a few days now. I'm so sad that I can't afford the full bottle- and I've been lucky enough to include true masterpieces in my collection, so I have options. It's absolutely unique, masterful and beautiful and it lasts on me.

Why do I get water notes? I get tobacco, amber, rum, and water notes. So far, I really like this.

G! Old money perfume. Luxurious & addictive... boosts confidence somehow.

A nice boozy tobacco but very similar to a lot of existing perfumes. It's not better done than Bentley Intense for exemple (even the contrary) who costs almost nothing in comparison...or the beautiful Idole by Lubin. it's good but a useless expensive copy.

From a distance this reminds me of MDCII Parfums Invasion Barbare - I get a lavender that is not listed.. Maybe the nutmeg is playing tricks on me.

I saw the main accords at the top of the Fragrantica page and thought I'd love this, but I don't. Luckily I only pulled the trigger on a very discounted travel sized spray. I get more patchouli and rum than the tobacco and cherry, so even though Fragrantica puts "sweet" as the first main accord, it is not a very sweet fragrance. It's earthy and more "damp" than sweet. Like @cranky137, I was hoping for a tobacco cherry, and while those notes are there, they are overpowered by rum soaked patchouli with a slight peppery note. More vanilla would have given this the sweeter and more appealing softness that it is lacking. I feel like this fragrance would only work well with a mature person (over 45, more masculine than unisex) in a very formal night-time setting. It's a tuxedo, lavish affair kind of scent that doesn't smell like it'll work well in any other setting. "Old money perfume" like @Gizem below me said. There's nothing fun, playful, sweet or attractive about it. It's very serious, so you probably need to be serious to pull it off. It's an OK fragrance, WAY overpriced. Ridiculously overpriced. A blind buy for me, but I got the travel spray at such a low price I'm not mad, but I'm struggling to think how and when I'd ever wear it. Maybe I'll save it for when I'm older

A candle in this scent is amazing. The fragrance is meh... I was looking for a tobacco cherry, but I get mostly patchouli and it is heavily leaning masculine. Not for me.

Testing this today from an offical sample, sent to me by a lovely swap partner abroad! ❤ At the beginning of the scent's life, I smelled nutmeg and spices the most. However, I kept smelling something dissonant in the background. At first, I thought it was cumin (which I loathe!) but, after looking at the notes, I assume it must be the chili pepper. I'm not sure whether it adds depth to the composition or just doesn't fit; I'll have to test it further to figure out what I think. Eventually, the spices fade somewhat into a beautifully smooth tobacco. There's just enough patch thrown in for balance at first, and it eventually combines with a smidge of amber for the dry down. I like this fragrance, it's pretty. But I've smelled it before- there are a ton of spiced tobacco scents on the scene these days. Veleno Dore is a solid one, but I'm not sure it's worth its price or is better than some of the others in the genre...

True luxury! The packaging is beautiful, black lacquered box with gold monogram which opens to reveal the bottle which is just as beautiful. Smells like tobacco and dark chocolate with spices. Gorgeous!
