Eau Folle

Eau Folle is a fresh fougère with a clean, somewhat soapy character. Compared to the more traditional scents from Le Galion, this one feels more modern. The opening is fresh and aromatic with lavender, violet leaf and ginger. As it dries down, the vetiver and wormwood become more noticeable and provide a drier and spicier character. There is also a tonic/mineral undertone that blends well with the herbal and wood elements. The scent almost has an aquatic feel at times. Overall, it is versatile and simple to wear, especially in warmer weather or daily settings. People who like Chanel Égoïste Platinum and similar aromatic fougères will most likely appreciate this. This has become a favorite of mine.

I've been meaning to report back! I was able to get a 10ml sample, and I've worn it at least three times now to work. It's really nice! Overall the impression is really good. To me it's more modern than I was expecting. The opening to my nose has a lot of ginger freshness accompanied with some citrus (a little sweetness like a mandarin) and a watery rounded feel that makes it crystalline instead of earthy or dense. It's not a vintage green punch in the face like the newest version of Dior Jules, or Rive Gauche, or NR for Him. I need a few more wears to see if I can tease out more of the notes. There isn't an earthy rosemary like Beau de Jour. It's very pleasing; my wife really liked it (she doesn't care for Beau de Jour or Jules). The base ends in woods and a clean vetiver with a nice clean musk. Like I said, I don't have a complete picture of it yet, but overall it wears really well, lasts all day, and would probably be enjoyed by others around you. It also seems to radiate with some heat. To me this would be a good replacement for modern Aventus. Not because they smell the same, but because they both have that wearability and high quality appeal. The quality smells on par with modern Creed and better than something from the high end Hugo Boss Collection (random comparison, but I've smelled a couple of those lately). I've only smelled Imagination and Pacific Chill from LV (both of which I didn't think were very special), and the quality of Eau Folle seems on par with those from what I remember. There is another review on Parfumo that says it's a combination of L'Immensite and Spice & Wood, but I haven't smelled either of those, so I can't comment on that comparison. It's a great spring and summer fragrance for me. Also, it can be dressed up or worn casually, worn to work, out to eat, or hanging out. Definitely worth sampling if the above sounds good.

First impression is a kind of green bubblegum and Aramis Life or an eighties men’s showergel. I like it, it is pleasant but for me it lacks character. My fresh colognes are Jules by Dior, Harmonie Pastorale Lucien Ferrero or Cologne Officinale by Heeley.

A green and herbacious fresh aromatic with a shower gel/soap type character. Strong but a bit rough and lacking in 'roundness'. No trace of sweetness. Smells familiar and unlike other releases by Le Galion, which lean more retro, this is definitely more reminiscent of perfumery from the 90's and onwards.

I got this in April 2025 from a boutique in Paris close to Place de la Republique, it was an instant love for me... it lasted until the 2nd day on my skin and I got the chance to test it in the summer aswell on 30+ degrees, I loved the strong rosemary in the heart, it feels so refreshing and it's not similar to those aquatic generic fragrances, this one has character. A fragrance like this does not have to be sweet or to be blamed it lacks sweetness, IMHO it has to be tried a few times and in different contexts, to be able to have an idea of what it can smell about...
