Citron Boboli

Citron Boboli makes a trip to Italy, more precisely to Florence and its famous gardens. Those visiting the Pitti Palace (a complex with parks, museums and exhibitions), get to know the famous Bardini and Boboli gardens. And as you go climbing by the flowery alleys filled with statues in open sky, toward the highest point, which has the most beautiful views of Florence, it is possible to come across the famous Grotta del Buontalenti, a grotto that is considered the most valuable building of the garden. It is in this place of history and wealth that is born the concept behind Citron Boboli, which has notes of Italian lemon, petitgrain from Paraguay, Brazilian bitter orange, black pepper, galbanum and cloves. And what can I say about this perfume? Citron Boboli is stunning and captivating! From all the fragrances I tested until now, released in this new phase of Le Jardin Retrouvé, this is the one that evolves and pleases me the most. When touches the skin, reminds me of a classic from 1965, called Epicéa, by Creed. The mixture of lemon and cloves is similar. However, Citron Boboli is more pleasant and current, at the same time that keeps a foot in the peculiar tradition of the Italian fragrances. We have, then, a scent of citrus and spicy aspect, with aromatic, spicy and sweet nuances that dance on the skin, showing facets that can confuse: on the one hand, an elegant smell; on the other, a smell of lemon cookies being baked in the oven. In addition, Citron Boboli still manages to satisfy both in projection and durability, even taking into consideration the fact that citrus notes tend to be more volatile. Citron Boboli makes you want always more. Even after rising to the highest point, albeit tired, I just want to get down and start climbing again. Gorgeous perfume!

First, my thoughts without looking at the listed notes online. The opening is a quick breeze of bitter, fresh citrus tree—like when you pluck a leaf from a lemon or orange tree, tear it, fold it and squish it a few times to release its essence, and sniff it. But my assumption that it would be a basic citrusy cologne was swept away within just a minute, as the fragrance deepens. A sweet citrus drink, then something earthier and drier. Summer citrus is becoming fallen autumn maple leaves and perhaps incense. Myrrh is my guess for the note: I’m reminded of the delicious year in college in my goth phase when my roommate had a myrrh fragrance oil. It’s smooth and soft and a bit melancholy. The citrus is still there, still both sweet and bitter. I view this as a perfume depicting summer turning to fall. I keep sniffing my wrist. Beautiful! Now checking the notes listed: huh, no myrrh. But the collage of spices and geranium, along with vanilla and musk, together could give a myrrhlike impression. Now that I read those notes, yes, totally, I can pick out how it’s vanilla and musk and spices. Though still much more goth-friendly than you’d ever expect from a perfume called Citron Boboli.

My impression when I did put first time was smell like Limoncello ! (Italian lemon liqueur) Then I start smell strong LemonGeranium and light Cinnamon, also I feel very small amount of Vanilla which is not in the note list. After I smell very light green note(maybe St John's Wort ?) and incense , mean time Clove comes more front low. It's seems like Orange pomander but instead of Orange they used Lemon. I think this perfume is complex and very original.

Finding a scent that is both fresh and spicy, suitable for both winter and summer and for both sexes isn ́t that easy. But Le Jardin Retrouve ́s Citron Poivre manage to combine all of that in one perfume. The citrus notes in the top are both fresh and sunny, not so harsh. After a while the spices and geranium joins in and all together make this a nice, wearable and quite unique fragrance. Never heavy or to much, light but still quite longlasting.

This smells *delicious*. If you’re not into smelling kind of like Christmas baking then it might not be your thing, but it’s so warm and spicy and comforting, with a bit of freshness and zestiness. The only thing is it stays pretty close to the skin, and I’d rather it was just a little more noticeable. But it smells so good I don’t care THAT much.

Fresh lemon zest is the dominant note, followed by black peppercorn, clove, and cinnamon. Despite how that may sound, the spice isn't sharp or overwhelming. Rather it is more fresh and sweet. There's also a pleasant amount of geranium. It struck me as a much younger, brighter, Springier version of the Guerlain classic, Habit Rouge. It lacks the wood and also the warm vanilla and leather base of Habit Rouge, but I find the citrus and cinnamon accords in Citron Boboli much more youthful and appealing. Overall, pretty pleased by this one. Update: My overall impression of this is that the cloves, pepper, and cinnamon combine to smell strikingly similar to Jamaican allspice, which is fine, but I don't necessarily want to smell like it all day.

This fragrance is very a mixture of lemon and clove (50%/50%) with a touch of species. More of a man, very natural and fresh. Atmosphere? I am in a kitchen. With the clove, I can find a little Christmas touch but it is more appropriate for summer (during hot days). 6/10 --> In this brand, for summer, I prefer Verveine d'été. Verveine d'été (verbena & bergamot) > Citron Boboli (lemon & clove) > Eau des délices (citrous cologne) --> For spring: Rose Trocadero (a lovely rose fragrance, very fresh) --> For fall: Tubéreuse Trianon (strong tuberose & ylang ylang)

this starts with peppery citrus and cinnamon. it's tart yet the cinnamon warms things up a bit. shortly thereafter i get the clove. at this point lemon and clove are the strongest notes. it softens into a spicy lemon ginger tea on my skin. it's nice in summer and i think could work in fall. trying in colder weather: i get a lot of pepper, lemon and geranium at first, then a lot of spices, primarily cinnamon. much better in cooler weather due to the spices.

I bought the Le Jardin Retrouve sample set from Luckyscent containing this fragrance as well as four others. This is the first one I have worn. Based on the notes, I had the highest hopes for this one, but something about it just doesn't agree with me. I love citrus, and all three (lemon, lime, orange) are front and center here. They are sharing the spotlight, however, with some very warm spice that also has a prominent herbal edge to it. I believe it is the mixture of the clove, cinnamon, and geranium. The spice is a little too showy against the citrus, like a duet partner horning in to sing the other person's solo as well as their own. The initial spray screams licorice to me, and just when the whole thing becomes tolerable, it nearly disappears. The end feels like a powdery sort of close scent, barely there within an hour. I think I might just not like the combination of warm spices and citrus, but this just isn't for me. It does indeed feel pretty retro - the fragrance made more sense to me when I came here and saw it was released in 1977. It definitely smells like perfumery from a different age, but, for me, it's a scent best left in the past. 3.5/10.

Citron Boboli was a lovely, unexpected surprise. It's such a light, refreshing, palliative scent; there's hardly anything to it at all, and then the longer you sit with it, the more mellow marvels it conjures. On the hottest day of the summer, when the sun bakes the earth, and the air hangs humid, heavy, and shimmering, find a mason jar, glass smooth and etchings worn, passed down from your mother's mother, to cradle a spell for a sweltering day. Beneath the skeletal shade of a midday tree, into this vessel layer lemon balm and blossom, a sprig of geranium, and a frilled citronella leaf–a soothing strata, herbal, citrusy, and green, a counterpoint to the relentless heat. Stream in a shiver of rainwater that has caught the reflection of the moon, and, finally, drop in as many cloves and peppercorns as loves you have lost, and smell their spiced warmth transmute into a strange, fizzing chill. Anoint your pulse, your throat, and your heart with the verdant brew, peer into its swirling emerald shadows, and let echo the words that cool the air and summon the soft, secret summer rain. This is what Citron Boboli is for me. And as a Floridian, I think this fragrance will be my go-to scorching summertime incantation of relief.

What a happy perfume! I don't know if it is because the Holiday is just around the corner, but when I smell Citron Boboli I instantly think of Christmas! When I first apply this perfume on my skin, all I can smell is cloves and lemon cream! I can't help it and my mind flies to the traditional Christmas pies, full of spices and delicious creams. Mmmm... my mouth is already watery! I can picture my mother singing a carol while she decorates the table, waiting for me to join her. There are cookies in the oven and tea in the kitchen. Dad is wrapping gifts in his armchair. Everything around us is shiny and our lips are curled up in a smile. Citron Boboli is pure joy!

Citron Poivre (Vintage Bottle) Citron Poivre is now renamed to Citron Boboli. So fresh, I think this Calabrial bergamot. It so sharp but gentle and soft. Unique quality belong to Calabrial Bergamot (The Guerlain Bergamot). In this structure, becomes more like cushiony lemon custard. Sweeten by not so dry geranium. Perhaps, Egyptian Geranium. And Cinnamon Cylon. Might? Lightly ground by thin Vetiver and Vanilla. Verbena like? Yum, Yum, Yum, so fresh to the nose. Yet so Gourmand. It kind of Citrus cologne but it is gourmet. Yuri, you are so stylish.

This scent is wonderful! It's not very spicy on me, it smells more like lime, then lemon. It's not harsh or sour at all, very gentle and even floral, slightly powder... I think it's better on men, then women, because of its elegance and quiet very balanced friendly temper. I think every woman wants to have a gentleman besides her, this scent is about polite, communicative, clever person, with a good taste ;o)) As Rebella, I find it unique, like every fragrance by this house. They all have some indescribable warmness of the past.

Who knew that a citrus fragrance could last so long and feel so good in winter? Citron Boboli has clove and black pepper that really pins down that lemon note and makes it last. When the lemon runs out of steam (as citrus often does) you're left with a brilliant warm spiced perfume with a hint of piquancy. Also good in summer, but REALLY good in winter.

I'm in love, but how to describe love? I feel like such a giggly fool, but I'm so happy and I can't stop smiling. Lemon sherbet fizzy exploding dream joy bomb, I have found you and how happy you make me feel. Take me in your arms my treasure, for in your exploding sunshine spiced lemon sweet Nirvana I fall in love forever.

Opens with a bitterness and the smell of citrus rinds, it’s slightly sharp and pointed with an aromatic freshness to it. The spices here are dry, fresh, and earthy. The dry down has hints of sweet musks with remnants of bitter citrus

Amazing fragrance! It’s sweet, fresh, spicy, cheerful! I swear I can smell chocolate note on my skin. Incredible fragrance! Well done, Le Jardin Retrouvé!
