Lys 41

My favorite scent from Le Labo! Unsure as to why this was named Lys, as it’s a tuberose scent. Tuberose is at least 85% - 90% of what I smell from this fragrance. Other notes are softly well blended to enhance the tuberose. It does have a warm, summery tuberose monoi feel. Smells like clean young sunkissed skin. It doesn’t have the green sharp eucalyptus vibe of Carnal Flower or Moon Bloom, and it lacks the sugary bubble gum gourmand sweetness of Love Tuberose. It's stronger, better performing, and slightly more musky/less soapy than Gucci Bloom. I can pick up some green notes in the first 15 minutes and then they fade into the warm summery tropical smelling tuberose. My only issue is that I seem to go anosmic to this scent after an hour or so. It isn’t a beast-mode fragrance, no matter how much you overspray, but it is much stronger and longer lasting than any other tuberose scent I've tried. After an hour I mostly get gentle bursts of this when I smell myself directly. Though if I spray before bed, I can still subtly smell this when I wake up. I don’t think this smells mature at all, to me it does remind me of some sunscreen I used as a kid 20+ yrs ago back when sunscreens smelled amazing, so it reminds me of the way I used to smell when I was under the age of 10. It doesn’t have coconut or other sunscreen notes so it’s close, but doesn’t quite enter the sunscreen genre. I really don’t get any lily or jasmine at all, and I own/wear Alien and Jasmine Sambac body oil regularly and I have a garden full of jasmine. Gucci Bloom has more of lily dominance than Lys 41. I do not know what Santal 33/sandalwood notes others refer to here. I’m a Santal/sandalwood lover and would say this is a tropical floral scent with no obvious woody notes, it certainly doesn't have any sort of sharp green sandlewood/pickle accord (I don't read Santal 33 as pickles but I know what note others refer to as pickles - to me it smells more green fresh crisp almost like cucumber). I know a lot of people refer to tuberose scents like this and Carnal Flower as elegant lady scents, however they work very well on more casual, earthy types of women as well. I don’t feel like putting on a fancy dress and heels when I wear this, I feel like wearing a sexy bikini or a white crop top with cut off jean shorts. Maybe a flowy beachy vacation dress. Love it, I’m still looking for something similar with a bit more strength, but this is the best one I've found so far.

Inhaling from the vial gives a heavenly heady naturally sweet floral with that grapey bubblegum note I’m so drawn to in certain tuberoses. But this is lily, no? Was beginning to think I couldn’t distinguish lily from tuberose until I saw the note list and tuberose is the most prominent note in the fragrance. This is, in essence, a tuberose scent. There’s also participation from jasmine. After abt 15m the savory drier woody elements appear, a bit of saltiness I associate with sandalwoods. Compared to Serge Lutens Un Lys this is quite a bit more syrupy sweet that’s more charateristic of tuberose and jasmine. We’ve gone deeper into the the tropics and the distinction between lily and tuberose becomes very clear. SL Un Lys is truly a lily scent and the contrast between these two scents reveals lily as tamer, gentle. But to be clear the drier woody elements of Lys 41 tame this tuberose, which at first hints at unbridled indolic sensuality. However, the woods continue to expand and while that grapey bubblegum expressed by only the dirtiest of tuberoses remains, this scent stays grounded. I’m impressed with how Le Labo has achieved this balance, capturing what are for me the most beautiful elements tuberose has to offer, elements many find off-putting, yet here tempering their darkness, damp and danger in a beautiful and very wearable scent. I get no suntan lotion or beachy associations. Tropical, yes. I also get little if any vanilla. All the sweetness and warmth seem distinctly floral and what I’ve come to expect from tuberose and jasmine. I don’t doubt there’s vanilla here as it’s so often deployed in base notes, but the sweetness in this base is softer and subtler than most vanillic drydowns so it doesn’t read as vanilla so much to me. Surprised its sillage rating is modest, as I found this to expand noticeably for at least an hr and a half. 2 1/2 hr in it’s nearly a skinscent so I’m side eyeing the longevity rating. As for the lily, f*ck that. Nah, it’s fine. It’s just the skinscent that’s left is the only place the lily appears, light amid the haze of musk. In truth, I love this and regret not having revisited this sample in seven years. I’ll admit I’d become a bit dismissive of Le Labo for no reason other than it’s seeming ubiquity. A flimsy excuse. This is a remarkable scent. 8.5/10.

Lys 41 billows about sumptuously, luxuriantly around its wearer; a huge bouquet of white lilies, immediately recognisable. This is a very photo-realistic composition to my nose. I get none of the vanilla nor the woody notes it proclaims to contain. Nor does it in any way connote anything at all close to sunscreen for me. Just white lilies through and through, from the very first spray to the very last aroma molecule that dries up and dissipates off my skin. I also have Diptyque’s Do Son, which has similar notes of tuberose and jasmine. They share DNA, to be sure, but where Do Son has a rich creaminess about it (almost bordering on oily for me, somehow), Lys 41 has a freshness and a clarity about it that lends to its sense of realism. I wholly agree with the reviewer who said this fragrance is very Hawai’i. It imparts a beautiful tropicality in the most natural and straightforward way. Where I currently live, June and July nights are redolent with the scents of grand crinum lillies, Easter lilies, and white angel’s trumpets wafting through the air near streams and coastlines. It’s magical, meditative, a wonderful respite from the oppressive heat of daytime. This fragrance smells just like those starlight-kissed nights. It finds perfect synergy with heat and humidity to create a salubrious bubble of refreshing beauty around its wearer. Compliments abound from people of all ages and genders. It is the end of November now, however, and I’ve just worn this for the first time outside of summer. To my slight dismay, but to hardly any surprise, it did not carry with it that same sense of resplendence. If you live somewhere hot and humid, Lys 41 is absolutely exquisite. If not, well—it may seem a bit more typical, a bit more pedestrian. Just goes to show how relative and context-specific our responses to smells are—and how fragrances respond to different atmospheric conditions as well, I suppose.

this was the first perfume i had ever bought with my own money (had a peculiar taste for the finer things even as a freshman in high school). my mom had initially gotten upset at me b/c i spent the labor day allowance $ she gave me for clothes to buy this instead. savored it, used it at my first ever homecoming, my two proms, with a soul-crushing situationship when we were cuddling on nye of this year. i think this is why he's broken no contact many, many times since. i wore it also when we broke up b/c it was (still is, i've just run out) my comfort scent. this is one of the most beautiful fragrances i have ever had the pleasure of having. i truly do not think i am worthy. if you do not enjoy it, either mail me yours or give it the time it deserves to mature in its maceration. i believe a few years ago when i bought it initially, it was a strong sweet lily-like white floral. after a few years though, there is this truly amazing scent that comes out that i can only describe as sunlit - this incredible warmth beyond words. i imagine this is what heaven would smell like. as for the sillage/longevity, it's perfect for my taste. somewhere closer on the spectrum to a skin scent, yet lasts for far longer than you'd expect. i'm writing this in my college dorm now, away from home, and all i can think about is how much i would give to just savor the last bits i had of this fragrance. update: my best friend bought me it for my 18th!

GOD. Actually getting teary-eyed at the prospect of reviewing this perfume but seeing as it's my absolute ride or die I feel as though I must. My mom wore La Chasse aux Papillons by L'Artisan Parfumeur when I was younger, and this scent reminds me of that one every time, even after years of wearing it. Tuberose is truly the goddess of all flowers. It's beautifully white and yellow and light and dark and nasty and sweet and harsh and totally chill like oh my God. Lys 41 smells like everything lovely and neutral and tragic about girlhood, like lying on your stomach on the floor kicking your feet in the air and writing in your diary while the breeze from the open window flutters the pages. Maybe you're writing about terrible things but the moment is calm and beautiful. Maybe you're still wearing somebody else's lipstick on your neck and wondering why you've never really liked roses, or a record is spinning on the turntable and you're sticky with the heat of dancing around the bedroom you've danced in your whole life. Not sure where I'm going with this. I love being a girl and I love my mom and I love tuberose. I love that there are so many ways to be a girl and to smell like a girl. Before I had a full sized bottle of this I would save my little sample to wear when I was going to see my girlfriend. I really love her a lot. There are so many things in this world that I love. Ok that's all.

Lys 41 is an elegant mix of tuberose, jasmine, lily, vanilla, and sandalwood. Truly one of the most beautiful, intoxicating white florals I've ever tried. Tuberose and jasmine are the most prominent in the mix. The familiar waxy, spicy scent of lily makes an appearance after the first hour, though its a bit muted. The base notes are a pleasant mix of what's left of the white flowers plus vanilla and sandalwood, giving it a slight sultriness. Lys 41 might be a liiiiiittle cloying at first, but she softens up within the first 20 minutes into something sophisticated and warm. There is nothing cool or aquatic about this fragrance. Lys 41 does her best during the spring, summer, and on warm nights (especially when getting cozy with a lover). Everything about this fragrance is classically feminine, but it works well for any man brave enough to sport a bouquet of white florals on his pulse points. This was my signature a few years back and I constantly return to it for special occasions and date nights. Out of all the perfumes in my collection, this one has gotten me the most compliments from men and women alike.

Disclaimer: I am a man. Although, after initially testing it in the morning, I would not wear this as my scent of the day (it doesn’t quite convey the image I want to project to the world), I have been spritzing it on the inside of my elbows before going to bed—and let me tell you: I have been having the best dreams. Take that as you will. If Do Son is a beautifully lit/composed photograph of white flowers, Lys 41 is a shiny pop song about white flowers. @foldyrhands described this as “bratty” on Twitter, and I love that. You can almost smell this fragrance rolling its eyes. There is a definite sunscreen accord I’m getting. This is something that’d be great to wear in a bikini. And the vanilla is more ‘realistic’ than gourmand (think DS & Durga’s deep dark vanilla), but it is definitely a supporting character to the sharp and sun-baked tuberose and lily. I put this on after taking my nightly shower with Native’s lilac & white tea body wash, and this compliments it very well. This might shock you, but I swear I’m straight.

It smells like deplaning in Hawaii at night. Beautiful, tropical, heady white florals--and just the hint of something gasoline like and animalic in the distance. This doesn't smell like a white floral soliflore, however, I am almost certain ylang ylang is somewhere in the mix, adding a lush ripeness to it that elevates its realism (after all, where in nature would you smell purely white florals?) The dry down features a bit of the famous Le Labo (laundry) musk, which I admit I am not a fan of, but it isn't as biting or strong as it is in Santal 33 or Tonka 25. Wear this for when you want to feel like a Greek God. One of the most natural smelling floral fragrances on the market, far surpassing TF's Jasmine Rouge (and Fleur de Portofino, for that matter). The only thing stopping me from buying this is that it doesn't smell like "me", but if I had unlimited funds, this would certainly have a welcome spot on the dresser--and I would reach for it when I really want to draw someone in.

lys 41 is a scent i have a lot to say about. i don’t believe someone has to have only one signature scent, because people are complex and layered and this one fits one side of me so well that it naturally became one of my signature scents. the moment i smelled it, it reminded me strongly of zara noble wisteria, a seasonal scent i loved when i was a bit younger, and interestingly my sister noticed that connection immediately too. it has that same emotional pull. it’s a beautiful white floral, very clean and clear-cut. le labo as a brand doesn’t try to overwhelm with too many notes, it chooses carefully and commits, and you can really feel that here. the scent feels intelligent and composed, like someone who is well-spoken, quietly confident, and very self-aware. it’s not warm, not cold, just clean in the purest sense. there’s no chaos, no confusion, just clarity. this fragrance hits me deeply and connects to a very specific side of who i am, and that’s why i love it so much.

lys 41 is tender white florals folded into whipped cream. the florals are a blend of airy tuberose, jasmine and maybe lily and/or orange blossom. lys 41 has an overall jasmine impression for me, but a clean jasmine, not indolic. it’s all very white, floaty & sweetly innocent. kind of like if dior pure poison was made with better ingredients. I do really like it. it’s hard to get excited about le labo but lys 41 is well done. it’s the kind of sweet, clean white floral with vanilla that someone could spend half their life trying to find just this exact right thing. longevity and sillage are respectably moderate, too. UPDATE: coming back to say that lys 41 really IS that white floral rolled in vanilla that you’ve been looking for your whole life. the white florals are not screechy, and the dollop of vanilla whipped cream is the perfect portion. it’s floral but it’s delicious. most similar to annick goutal songes in edp. it really is just right. I love it 10/10.

Poolside perfection. Go to summer scent! Update : This has really surprised me. I've had it a little over a year and a half and I knew I loved it but wouldn't have called it my signature scent. That being said, I ran out of it faster than any of my other scents. I crave it and think about it all the time and so does my husband. He has never 'requested' a scent but every time I can't decide what to wear he votes Lys. I don't know what it is about this fragrance but it always just makes me happy and puts me in a good mood. I can't have a bad time if I'm wearing Lys, it's impossible. During the summer months this leans creamy coconut-y and sunscreen, especially in the Texas heat. But now that it's (finally) cool in Texas ALL I smell is Tuberose and it is LOVELY! I was devastated to put this away for the year but it seems I won't have to as it has evolved with the weather bringing something entirely new. I'm surprised to say, this is a year round beauty.

An ultra-creamy and dense lily + tuberose fantasy. For the first few minutes after the initial spray, I got a rather green and fresh lily scent that was glorious. Moist and slightly spicy, and full of freshness. This green white floral heaven is quickly gone though on my skin, turning very dense and creamy and more tuberose forward. The dry down reveals a very vanillic opulent tuberose scent that is very much on the body butter type of thickness of textures. I still love this vanillic tuberose but I had really hoped for the lily-dominant opening to last. Lasts all day on the skin and on clothes and projects insanely. I received a ton of compliments whilst wearing this on a cold and crisp winter day. Personally, because of the thick vanillic dry down, I prefer to wear this in the colder months but I do think people can pull this off in the warmer seasons like late spring, or even cooler summer nights.

This conjures up high-gloss, perfected beauty. It's a scent for Miami beach babes, for perfect grooming, for performative luxury. And that's exactly what makes it so good. It's sexy, but not carnal or bodily; "look, don't touch," vibes. I love big white florals, and Lys 41 is one of the most contemporary tuberose-jasmine fragrances I have smelled. The somewhat synthetic woody-vanilla base is what gives it that high-gloss, luxury feeling that's simultaneously hot but sexless. The composition also has something plasticky about it, a rubbery facet from the tuberose, which only makes it sexier. The floral notes themselves are so intoxicating they could kill. An element of danger lurks somewhere in this composition, maybe because of the rubber. If you want soapy and clean, stay far away. This is a huge and solar white floral with enough character to warrant a prime spot in my collection.

This is my signature scent and the only le labo scent that is worth the money to me. I have it in both the oil and spray form. The spray leans more floral while the oil leans more vanilla. I love white florals, but usually don't gravitate towards vanilla scents (usually sweet scents smell sour at the end to me) but this vanilla just works. I wouldn't say this is a gourmand fragrance, but it is romantic, ethereal and sweet. While I don't have a partner but I know I will wear this on my wedding day! That's just the energy and vibe I get from this. I love the contrast of the florals' projection with the skin hugging intimacy of the vanilla. If you are iffy on white florals like tuberose then this is probably not the scent for you, but if you are not normally a vanilla/sweet perfume person this could be the perfect middle ground for you (like it was for me!)

There is no doubt in my mind that this is a beautiful white floral, at least on my skin. Unfortunately, my skin amps the tuberose to a point where it almost obliterates most other notes, and I was hoping that the lily would be more pronounced. It is detectable, but as it develops, it becomes more beachy and reminds me quite a bit of Guerlain's Lys Soleia, which I already own. The lily does a wonderful job augmenting the tuberose, but I already own many wonderful tuberoses and don't really need another in my collection, especially considering the price of a full bottle. I have a 15 ml bottle, and given the strength and tenacity of the juice, that will be more than enough to last me a long time provided I keep it refrigerated. If you are seeking a vibrant, sweet tuberose fragrance, this would do quite nicely, but if it's lily you seek, I'd look elsewhere.

Love at first sight. I smelled this fragrance for the first time years ago. Instantly fell in love with it. It reminds me of something from the past. But can't recall what. White flowers, especially lily and tuberose, are my favorite notes. Due to the high price, I did not buy the fragrance. But I kept thinking about the smell. But no matter what fragrance I bought, none of them match Lys 41. But luckily I bought this fragrance a few weeks ago. It smells like a vase full of white flowers. Not only a lily, but also a tuberose and gardenia are in the vase. You can also smell the green fresh stems of the flowers. It is a full fresh bouquet. Nothing more or less. On my skin, the scent changes after a fresh start to a slightly more creamy variant. It's a subtle scent. No screamy and oldish smell. In my opinion for every age and wearable in every season.

it smells of walking sundazed under a bright, dazzling sun, bearing an armful of big white flowers that fill the air with their heady and intoxicating perfume. the lily is freshly plucked from its bed so that the leaves are lush green against springy stems. this is a flower for Anne of Green Gables, lover of beautiful things; something one sniffs with abandon to fall into ecstasies, to fling oneself on a bed of long grasses, to pick a bouquet with greedy hands, to listen to a chorus of jasmine with cupped ear like the petal of a calla lily. green and piercing, in the same genre as carnal flower. unripe buds that bloom with vanillic sweetness in the drydown. a bit sunscreeny for me, and the constant headiness can overwhelm (especially with the greedy sniffing it inspires) — but with it comes an illusion of sunshine.

This scent is to DIE FOR. I waited years to sample it, and finally ordered a sample from the company. Upon spraying 1 time.. eyes rolled back heavenly hypnotic beeeeauuutiful, and ordered a full bottle. I am soo happy to have this in my collection. It is a TOP 5 contender for sure! My favorite scents are tuberose, gardenia, lily and the more tropical, sweet kind of fleshy hypnotic heaven -- I am all in. Starts off with sweet lovely tropical tuberose, that becomes more creamy as the lily notes move forward. The lily and tuberose blend soo amazingly well. As it wears lily is more pronounced, and is super beautiful wafting trumpet/oriental lilies. Nothing is indolic or heady here. Highly recommend this one! Lys 41 is just hands down GORGEOUS 💕

As others have said, a sillage beast in the beginning, and potent for a solid 3 hours. When it's cooler out (below 19° Celsius) it's screechy, sugary, headachy. When it's warmer out (25° Celsius and up), it's sun-drenched, narcotic, slightly sunscreen-y/sorta like expensive Monoi. But for me it's in the dry down that it really draws you in - after 5 hours, it's pure musk, more than a little skanky, but only for the nose that gets to come right up to your skin. In general; yes, Le Labo fragrances are expensive - but I've found (after wearing them for 13 years, i.e. pre-Estéban Lauder) that they both mature very well, and also last incredibly long as they're so potent that two sprays are almost always enough.

The brand and bottle are totally misleading! I'm surprised that Le Labo has a fragrance like Lys 41 in their collection. It leans heavily on the feminine side. The lily completely dominates and for that reason I found it a little unpleasant at first, but it dries down beautifully-- softer and blended in with the other notes. If you're averse to white florals, you won't like this one at all. It's pure white floral. I find that the brand in general is unified by an incense-like note to all their fragrances, but there's something elegant and vintage about this one without being overly powdery. It's reminiscent of much older 1920s fragrances I'd find in my grandmother's mother-of-pearl lacquerware vanity.
