Bonbon Banane

Omg I love this! I’m really into Caribbean oldies right now.. inspired by Harry Belafonte energy and wow this brought me joy. It’s like a banana cream brûlée. There’s something that smells a bit toasted or torched about it (which may read like cinnamon- I did even get Angels Share resemblance) Ultimately it’s a non cloying sweet and warm banana with lactonic coconut nuances and a powdery woody base. I only get banana candy/taffy in the beginning, it quickly warms and dries down to be rich and realistic on my skin. Le Monde always impresses me by being so cheap but not smelling synthetic. This smells more organic and melts into the skin better than some high end fragrances I’ve tried. Sits close, but will be impeccable worn alongside other tropical aromas. I bought this before any reviews were posted, hoping that the bold yellow dye and kitschy product photos indicated it would smell like banana runts. It doesn’t have the candy notes that I anticipated. Instead, Bonbon Banane is a moderately sweet soft musk with hints of green waxy banana leaf and coconut water. It is a demure form of tropical, which sits close to the skin for personal enjoyment. I’ve long wanted a pandan leaf perfume, and this has a similar vibe. It’s familiar, but outside of the western norm. I love this.

I stumbled on Bonbon Banane at TJ Maxx and grabbed two bottles—so glad I did because I heard it’s discontinued. This scent is very pretty. The banana is soft and airy, not overly candy like or ripe. It blends so nicely with what feels like a lightly toasted coconut and a creamy, slightly sweet sandalwood. There’s this cozy sugar note in the background too—like brown sugar and caramel, but not too heavy. This is super easy to wear and kind of addictive. Definitely a little gem I didn’t expect to find!

I was nervous that this was going to be pure sweet banana candy or bananas foster, and was pleasantly surprised to find otherwise! It's primarily a powdery musk scent, with banana candy hiding underneath sandalwood. A bit of warm nuttiness and coconut as well. Super cozy and warm, and strangely more of fall/winter scent to me than summer. Honestly - I love this so far, and am tempted to buy a backup. (First sniff review, may update later based on repeated use.)

Yummy! This smells warm and slightly sweet, slightly crisp. It is hard to describe. Since it is banana leaf there is no fake chemical cloying banana scent. Same thing with the coconut. The notes are well blended so it is hard to pick them out. This is a slightly musky, slightly sweet scent. I love it! These scents are so fun and cheap that I blind bought 4 and there's only one I don't really like.
