Chai Épicé

This was an awesome find. Beautiful sweet/spicy gourmand that, to my surprise, seems to last for about 7+ hours with a moderate sillage. It’s not dense; there’s definitely an airiness about it. The quality and complexity offered from this scent is a great value as you can get it between $10-$18 (you can still get it in certain UO stores, and I see others have gotten it on sale at Tj Maxx). I have not worn it in hot weather yet but it does not seem like it would become cloying, although its profile seems better suited for fall and winter. For night time, layering with something woody to play up the spiciness is amazing; it’s very sexy layered with Elizabeth and James Nirvana Black. I also recently layered it with Montale’s Sensual Instinct as I don’t pick up much sweetness from that fragrance on my skin personally and this really elevated and balanced it out. Great on its own; perfect for layering too if you want to play up the sweetness or soften the sharpness/sourness of other fragrances. Got lots of compliments on it. I’m sad it’s being discontinued // purchased a back-up bottle.

Le Mond Gourmand’s Chai Épicé is a new favorite in my collection. Of course, I am biased towards gourmands, but I couldn’t help but pick this one out from the rest of the tester selection for purchase. Sometimes I feel lacking on a really solid vanilla fragrance, so Chai Épicé fills a niche. It’s sweet and spicy, but not too spicy— more like a creamy spiced latte with a hint of fresh pastry. The vanilla mingles graciously with almond. The gentle sea salt note adds something special to enhance the warmth and richness of the fragrance. Positively cozy, yummy, and feel-good, making this a great choice for autumn and early winter. You’re on a date at a small town coffee shop, sitting close, and dressed up to the neck in soft scarves and coats. It’s cold outside, but warm drinks make you both feel toasty inside and out.

my bottle is empty, but i don't remember using that much of this scent? it's almost like it hypnotized me, which sweet floral musks tend to do for me. this is absolutely amazing for the price point and i wish i had another bottle. it feels elegant and subtle but very sexy. i honestly don't know if i would pick noir distille from the same house or this. i can't imagine disliking this scent on anyone. all of this being said, i wouldn't recommend this to anyone who doesn't want to smell like a sugary caffeinated beverage. although, that beverage would come from the most sensual and beautiful cafe. i'm not sure how the sillage is, i've gotten more compliments wearing noir distille. this is like her beautiful, shy younger sister who hangs out at cafes and reads instead of going out for drinks.

I have the body oil, Perfume Roller, Jumbo and regular size versions of this. Istg if they make a body lotion and body wash I will have them! The body oil and the perfume roller are the most photo realistic to chai. The perfume bottles are more fig and blonde wood, which makes for its own interesting fragrance but if you want Chai Epice to smell spiced, oil is the better bet. Now, this smells like a first date to the Fair, over eating on funnel cake, corn dogs, and ice-cream. Then you sneak away to the park, kiss, and maybe more. It's such a fun and playful perfume, and easy date night fragrance, it's not overwhelming and if you want a compliment, or even catch an eye, this is a go to. There is a nostalgic factor to this too, get thrown back to the summer of '08 or 1955.

I don't think this smells like chai at all, but it does smell good. I also don't think it smells like fig or lily of the valley, although I definitely do get the "blonde woods". It's a little bit black-peppery somehow, and dries down very coconutty. It does smell "spicy" to me, in the way a full spice cabinet smells when you first open it and get a whiff of all the spice aromas mixing together. I am a sucker for a spicy fragrance, so this is right up my alley. I was already wearing Lush's Lust when I tried on Chai Épicé at Ulta and oddly enough, Lust and Chai Épicé go very well together (although I will say that the weather is cool and rainy today--I think this combination could be LETHAL in hot, humid weather, especially in an enclosed space).
