Santal Supreme

I was apprehensive in getting this fragrance due to the pickle or dill accord people were picking up, but I decided to go out on a limb to try it due to the notes. On first spray, there is a blast of powdery and earthy violets and green violet leaves blended with a clean, leathery, slightly medicinal, and heady vetiver. The sandalwood is creamy, balsamic, and dry on my skin. The sandalwood is also reminiscent of high quality incense and it stays with you during the entire duration of this fragrance. The musk adds a slight sweet and soft quality to the fragrance. Something about this fragrance smells modern, but also timeless and genderless. If I could place it anywhere, it would be worn on a rainy spring night while nestled in a study reading an old book with a candle burning. It evokes the same coziness of Replica’s Whispers in the Library. As good as it smells, it can definitely be headache inducing. The scent lasted on my wrist for five hours and the projection was intimate, but I can imagine with more sprays the projection would be moderate. I could imagine this being worn on cooler spring days, fall, winter, and summer mornings.

I just sprayed this again after designating it a spring/summer scent and let me just tell you this. If you love the smell of spring, the flowers, grass and warm soil smell, this is for you. Violet in this fragrance really does bring a fresh sweetness to the deeper earthy grass smell. This fragrance transports me to days of warm summer nights next to a fire; to a breezy summer day as a kid running through sprinklers and picking wild violets. I still find the warmth of the sandalwood and a musk but truly such a beautiful scent for spring and summer though still good any time of year. Just my favorite in the sunny months for those scent memories for the notes. I 100% recommend investing in some of the Sand+Fog perfume oils to layer with. I have a Santal and Cardamom oil that I pair it with for cooler months, a Violet and Sandalwood oil for days I want to wear something more feminine, and Jasmine and Cedarwood to bring in more aquatic and ozonic notes. I will never let this one out of my collection for it's pure versatility and how much I find I wear it in the warmer months.

I've sampled 14 scents from the Le Monde Gourmand line and this is my top pick from the bunch. There's a stomach-churning sweetness to the UO scent DNA that I like sometimes, but too much of it can be headache-inducing. This one is a very one-note vetiver with no sweetness at all but I find something comforting about it being so basic. If I smelled this on someone I might find myself wondering if that's just the way they smell. It doesn't immediately register as a fragrance, but rather someone who's had their hands in wet earth, or a wool coat after being caught in the rain. Its warmth is vaguely similar to By The Fireplace or Memoires of a Trespasser but without any of the signature notes that make those scents interesting, but I definitely see an opportunity for lots of layering. I could see it being delicious with vanilla, marshmallow or cinnamon scents, tonka or balsamic/benzoin, or even a rosemary/eucalyptus for a more herbal-spa vibe. If you're into woody warm scents and are on a budget I think it's a safe and budget-friendly blind buy.

I get soft floral over a clean, dry, freshly sanded sandalwood. I think it works year-round, but I also live in a fairly dry climate and it might become oppressive in humid weather. To my nose, this dupe from LGM and the roll-on oil dupe from Musk & Hustle are exactly the same, just different modes of application. I also have a sample of Santal 33, where I always get the pickle note, however I'm not usually in the mood to "deal with" that tangy aspect in an otherwise comforting fragrance. Santal Supreme is more synthetic and has less depth that the original, but it faithfully delivers the sandalwood heart of the original, and that's all I really wanted anyway. Overall I prefer this and my other dupe over the OG, and that's without mentioning the price difference. Found the jumbo size at my local Marshalls for $20.

Back to sing my yearly praise for this fragrance. I have two bottles now, one at work that I have had for about two years now and a bottle at home that I picked up around this time last year. Both are still lovely though the older bottle definitely is somewhat stronger than the newer bottle. This fragrance is such a fresh but still complex scent to me making it a perfect choice for the hot summers and still deep enough for the spring, fall and winter. I don't get any of the pickle note that some users have reported just a sweet and somewhat spicy sandalwood. If you see this at your local TJ Maxx/Burlington I definitely recommend giving it a sniff because for the price this is a lovely addition to any collection as long as you don't get the pickle note.

I love this one. The notes, according to the official site, are: Top: Fig, Haitian Vetiver Heart: Violet Leaves Base: Sandalwood Musks Vetiver usually turns masculine on my skin, but this one is soft. The opening is fruity and fresh; the fig is juicy. Then it dries down to a slightly floral sandalwood; I can smell the sandalwood's creaminess, while the whole composition is airy and clean. If you find the leather in Santal 33 a bit harsh, try Santal Supreme. This type of sandalwood has that "pickle" reminiscence, but I find THIS composition pleasing and wearable. It is a skin scent for me (poor longevity and sillage). I bathe myself with it, and I wear it with rosemary hair and body products; everytime I hug someone, they ask.

I absolutely adore this. I was able to test this one out in Marshall's today when I was in the check out line. I pick up a suede accord, though it's not listed as a note. I wonder if that's the Suede and Sandalwood blending together. The sandalwood is so creamy, and I really love how it blends with the Violet. Santal Supreme is sweet and musky - It just feels comforting, yet casual and just....I can't stop thinking about this one. Luckily Marshall's seems to only have the 2.5 fl oz bottles. I have entirely too many fragrances, but this one I feel is backup bottle worthy. Also - I really wish Le Monde Gourmand would consider larger bottles for more/all of their scents!

This is a really nice woody floral scent. It's fairly strong at first, my husband came in the room a couple minutes after spraying it and he could smell it the moment he entered the room. He really liked it right away. I really don't get the pickle smell some people mention. It's a very nice fragrance with no weird notes, at least in my pack, but I got the trio with one discontinued scent, so I don't know how long ago it was made. Maybe it's had time to mature in the bottle. This is a very pleasant scent that's a bit different. I think a lot of people would really respond to it.

Woody, aromatic, sharp vetiver... you can't get any better than this. It's so long lasting on skin, it's insane! I sprayed it on my wrist before I went to bed and still smelled it on my skin the next night before my shower. This is clean, classic, chic, and unisex! I wholeheartedly apologize to everyone who get the smell of pickles from this. I'm guessing it's the vetiver note that might give off pickles, I can see where you are coming from but don't actually smell pickles myself. If you like woody and long lasting scents, this is for you.

was recommended this as a lover of BdB. went out to sniff test and ended up buying a bottle, it's a wonderful scent! its very fresh and creamy, with a hint of floral. i paired it with BdB and created the most divine fragrance ever. i now wear both every day as my base scent. layers very well with others. not super long lasting or powerful, but clings to the skin nicely. hugs always get me a "you smell so good!"

LOVE this so much. It's sweet but still has that fresh and airy feel to it. So easy to wear on the go and won't bother anyone around you. I don't know why pickles are always mentioned when anything related to Santal 33 comes up but I don't get that at all. Such a cozy feel to it and so good anytime of day, season, and occasion. Wish it lasts and projects more but such a good scent that I don't mind it.

This DOES NOT smell like Santal 33. Yes, it shares some same notes, but Santal 33 is very leather heavy making it a masculine leaning frag. I don't smell leather in this AT ALL. This is a santal that is truly gender neutral. It smells awesome!. You have to spray A TON to get enough longevity and projection. I'm totally good with that because it's pretty cheap.

Never smelled santal 33 but after having this, I want to. I honestly hated it at first & couldn't understand why anyone would want to smell like this. But over time, I've fallen in love with sandalwood & other woody notes & now I understand. I love this stuff.

I'm currently hooked on this scent. It doesn't last as long as I'd like but not a dealbreaker. I went back the next day and bought the other two bottles on the shelf. I feel truly blessed to not have the pickle gene (or the soapy cilantro gene)!

Im finding this to be incredibly fresh and clean. Like aloe and cucumber water. It reminds me of a rainy spring day cozy under white linen sheets. It's a clean girl vibe with a hint of wood

I just tested this briefly, on the back on one hand, and the only note I detected, which is not listed, is dill. I asked my husband what my hand smelled like, and he also said dill. I suppose that must be some component of the sandalwood, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed. It dried down to a creamy, woody, barely perceptible scent. I did not discern the violet note, or any other note aside from the phantom dill and the dry, slightly creamy sandalwood fragrance. This will work OK for layering, though, I think. I definitely do get a pickly accord at the beginning, and it lasts longer than I would like, but I think that must just be whatever synthetic sandalwood is being used. I'll apply it more generally and update it if my opinion changes. Wearing it again, and wondering if I might be slightly anosmic to sandalwood scents. I do get a dry, woody note, and the faintest kiss of violet leaf or another greenish-floral, but my mind translates that herbaceous note to dill in combination with the sandalwood possibly. I also get a slightly peppery bite, which I like, and which I think might be cedar or another fragrant wood, unless Haitian Vetiver smells a lot different from what I normally encounter in vetiver fragrances. I do know what the reviewer below means, describing the Urban Outfitter smell in the drydown. I associate that clean, crisp, woody scent with Pier One, but that's probably just a generational difference. Update: Tested again, about a year later. Longevity is greatly improved, the overall smell is much better blended, and now it does smell a LOT like Santal 33. It didn't at first so much, but now it's much, much more expensive smelling. Maybe it just needed to brood in the dark for a year.

Found at TJ Maxx for $19.99. No box. Atomizer is is the cheapest I've ever seen. The plastic silver shroud wasn't even glued to the atomizer and immediately fell off. Cap feels cheap and easily dents. Atomizer itself actually works decent, though, and throws a respectable mist. Unlike the photo here, my bottle says "Santal Supreme Le Jumbo Eau De Parfum by Le Monde Gourmond." Everything else is exactly identical including the "027" at the top. This is a clone of Santal 33 by Le Labo, which is a very expensive fragrance. This clone is actually pretty impressive. When I sprayed this in the store, it smelled EXACTLY like Santal 33 to me... But when I got home and compared one against the other, they do have differences. This is about 90% similar to Santal 33. The difference is that this has slightly less leather, slightly more florals, is ever so slightly sweet, and has a hint of soap. It also does not project nearly as far or last nearly as long as Santal 33. This is a skin scent after about 30-45 mins. This would be great as a body spray right out of the shower. It is entirely unisex. You could make an argument that it is a tiny bit more feminine than Santal 33 because of the increased florals, but it still lands firmly in the unisex category. Because of my flawed atomizer, I will be returning this...But I must say I was thoroughly impressed by it. I wouldn't have minded keeping it and using it.

As someone who thought they’d be bouncing around entry level jobs with high school dropouts, drug addicts, and criminals forever, I thoroughly surprised myself by going to college and getting an office job. I always knew I’d make it in life, though. I had something my coworkers didn’t. A dad. Anyways, as an office person now I need to be conscious of my stank in a way I never was before. Long gone are the days of reaching for Cherry Smoke or Khamrah when getting ready in the morning, now I’m forced to wear scents that don’t offend people. Like this one. What does it smell like? Kinda vaguely bland like wood and dill. I never got the pickle smell until I realized the synthetic sandalwood they put in perfumes smells like dill. It’s subtle and hard to place. Like if you were wearing this perfume around a normal person they would probably just think you’re wearing some generic cologne instead of thinking you spilled pickle juice on yourself. Anyways, I don’t hate it. Since it’s so inoffensive I see a lot of potential for layering. Sometimes I wear it with You Doux, which smells like this perfume if it was marketed towards 20 year old coffee shop hipster girls

I am honestly surprised by how much I did end up enjoying this scent. It was one that came in a discovery set, and when I saw the notes I picked it to try first because typically scents like this don’t interest me and I wanted to use it up quickly. However; the super fresh smell ended up being quite nice. The violet in this is very soapy and powdery, and it was the star of the show for me. Other than that it is a nice, clean “fresh out of the shower” unisex scent. I could imagine this being great for the gym or as something nice to spritz on before going outside to explore in the sunshine. Solid 7/10 for me, I don’t think I’ll be purchasing a whole bottle because it’s not my jam but if you are in the market for something like that I do recommend it! I personally don’t get the pickle thing others have talked about, and while it does have earthy qualities with the woodiness it doesn’t smell quite like the “outside” to me either. Scent description: clean, soapy, woody, musky, fresh.

I've never been more let down by a fragrance. Something of a dupe for Le Labo's Santal 33, but Santal Supreme's cheapness really stands out once you wear it. Longevity is quite literally around fifteen minutes, thirty if you're lucky. Opening is almost identical to Le Labo but about ten seconds afterwards you're hit with something I can only describe as a Target's Goodfellow & Co type cheap-y basic men's locker room cologne scent. Extremely disappointing but I've learned that I can't search for Le Labo dupes, better to splurge and buy the real thing because there's nothing like it. Beside from the dupe aspect of this fragrance, the actual scent is not bad, it just does not last long enough for you to realize you like it. Lot more of a "cooler" scent than I was expecting too.

I'm really enjoying this. I might even be growing to love this. So! It's currently 100 degrees outside and I'm miserable in the heat, but this is a saving grace. This gives me cool austere/crisp white shirt vibes. Certainly leans a little feminine, which doesn't bother me. I've owned Santal 33 and it's not an exact clone I get more musk and violet from this. Where as Santal 33 you get a richer dose of cardamom and clean amber as well. I think that's what people are identifying as pickles, maybe? I only get that vibe if I over spray this. At that point, yes, it can be a little much. As a skin scent or casual refresher it's awesome. Which fits my summer plans perfectly, because I'm going for a 'less is more' approach when tackling 100 degree weather this year.

Santal Supreme lives up to its name--this fragrance is STRONG! I guess santal gives me an immediate headache, no matter the brand. I've tried Santal 33 and Cremo Palo Santo and all three are nearly identical dupes to one another, and the headaches are also identical for each. Very unisex, grown yet youthful scent that can be worn year round by younger or older people. It's unique, you don't need to spray a lot to get a good scent bubble going. I like it a lot, I just wish it didn't give me a headache.

Violet is such a hit or miss for me but it takes this almost sharp screechy sandalwood to a softer quiet walk in the woods around fall. I love how straight-forward this santal is. There’s nothing deep or complex about it, you smell the same woodsy lightly floral breeze with every sniff. Slightly incense-y but without the smoke or fire, as if you emptied a cardboard box of incense and sniffed the paper. Very inoffensive and linear. Truly gender neutral. Easy to layer. Whats not to love?

I first smelled Santal 33 on a friend and had to get a sample for myself. Unfortunately, on my skin, it smelled like pickle juice had been spilled on a leather jacket. I decided to give this a try when I saw it at Marshall's and was glad to find that, while it's close to Santal 33, I don't pick up as much leather and pickles on my skin. There's still a hint, but it seems to lighten up on the dry down.

I actually love this one, the second I smelled it it brought me a feeling of coziness and comfort. Not super complex or long-lasting but it’s not bad especially for the price. I think this would also be good for layering. Smells like laying in freshly washed fluffy bedding with a candle lit.

Much less pickle-y than a lot of other woody scents and the vetiver isn't one-note like so many scents can be. I adore this, it's so romantic and more masculine in a relaxed way. Powdery dirt and aromatic woods and a spritz of oldschool hairspray.

I really like this one to wear to the office. Very airy and woody so not overpowering at all. I love layering it with Juliette’s Not a Perfume and Kuumba’s Egyptian Musk. I’ve been wearing this one and Latte D’or the most this Fall.

I liked this scent until I read all the pickle reviews and then all of a sudden all I smell is pickles. I’m annoyed. lol

I enjoyed this to begin, then the violet, which is very soft, quickly departs and it is just sandalwood and vetiver.

My husband and I love this scent profile, smells fresh, warm, clean and sophisticated. A true unisex perfume!

To me this is very similar to the original, decent projection with good longevity 👌🏼 worth it, around $20

Musky violet and sandalwood. Musk well balanced but I have to be in the mood for it.

Smells Great... Just Like Santal 33 But Not Much Longevity

This is one of the craziest rides I've been on with a fragrance. I didn't even think pickles when I first smelled it, and now that I've seen the reviews I can ABSOLUTELY pick up that sort of vinegar-y, sour smell to it. It's not bad in anyway, to be clear, it's just so crazy pickle-y that if you don't like dill, I can't with confidence say you'd like this. Like the first, initial spray, it's pickle - there's some spices that aren't in your grocery store jar of pickles in that brine, but pickle all the same. When it dries down (less than 5 min), the pickle note evaporates a lot. It becomes a lot more of what I'd expect from a vetiver and sandalwood perfume. I don't pick up anything especially different about it, other than it's a little greener than most woody fragrances. It's okay! It's not for me, but I think it's worth a try if you want a sandalwood body spray. It doesn't last long enough at all, though.

Too floral on me to smell like pickles (fortunately!). Sandalwood is airy but less perfumey than Maison Louis Marie's Bois de Balincourt. (they do smell similar, but I like BdB better). On my skin, this is a sweet and floral woody fragrance, but also smells like a strong body spray to me. (I was reminded of Calgon's Morning Glory for some reason, but it's been a long time since I've worn that). This is very violet forward and fresh. (BdB is woody and sweet-spice on me, and more refined in composition). The vetiver and sandalwood are well-blended in this one, but also a little high-key. This scent lasts on clothing well into the next day.

I have to absolutely agree with ZiggySmellsGood below. I also tested this at a TJMaxx today and feel the same way. If you want something very affordable - the large bottle today was marked at $16 - in the same vein as Santal 33, this is a good option. But to me, Bois de Balincourt is a better option to Santal 33; better overall in scent, quality and performance.

Its not terrible just a low quality linear watery sandalwood violet. This one actually lasts longer than most from this brand due to the violet I think. Again, nothing special about this one. Will be passed on to a friend's teenaged daughter as a mild school safe scent. Waste of time and my money this entire brand!

My friend gave me her travel size as she has the gene that makes it smell like dill herb to her. I get very green notes from it. It's not a dry wood by any means. To me, it is more reminiscent of shampoo. It's not awful, but it's not superb, either. Just a middle ground, excellent for layering than on its own.

this smells very soapy and clean. all urban outfitters perfumes smell more like scented soap than fragrance, but this just smells like plain bubbles. this gains character in the drydown and becomes a light, sweet maple-y wood.

it smells pretty lux considering the price so that really nice. it’s heavy on the sandalwood which i love the note so it’s nice for me.

this smells like eating pickles in an extremely clean bathroom of an expensive restaurant. kinda camp, kinda ridiculous.

I tried this at TJMaxx, unaware of it's dupe reputation for Santal 33 until I checked on here. But...it was stunningly apparent immediately. I'm one of the insufferable pickle people and I smell it with S33, Neon Moon from Pacifica, and also this. But, this is slightly less smooth than S33 if that makes any sense, yet much more robust and more masculine than Neon Moon (though I found this in the women's section). It's a tangy, clearly synthetic sandalwood, but it is fresh and the sillage is incredible! Although I can smell pickles...yes...I am capable of switching my brain's gears and perceiving this as wood as well, though it's hard to explain. In short, I *can* get past it and I think this is a markedly awesome bargain fragrance and it's wonderful quality for the price. It's really only a titch rougher than Santal 33, but in the air, I wouldn't be able to tell if all I smelled was someone's scent trail. I marked this a dislike because I still do smell pickles, personally, though I realize not everyone has that association, and objectively this is quite good, so don't let that sway you.

Take S33, add wet hay like vetiver and ferment it, that’s what this is... I really didn’t like it because I don’t enjoy this type of sandalwood at all. Maybe I’ve now joined the pickle-picking crowd too. It hadn’t really happened to me until now but I’m getting it this time 🙈

I’m a lover of sandalwood- from cheap (beach day - pacifica) to niche (no. 4 - mlm), but this is just not good. It has a sourness(?) that I can not put my finger on and is also reminiscent of a bad bath & body works mist. Wouldn’t buy it even if it was free.
