Jodhpur 6AM

This whole line is full of unexpected twists of tropes that seem familiar at first. There's always that subtle complexity that doesn't overwhelm but gives each note a new perspective. The inscription on the bottles says "Master of Disorder" and I enjoy this; nevertheless, Bertrand Duchaufour seems to be a master of balance, too. I sensed very strong apricot and dried cardamom first, then little by little the background got crowded with notes as a colorful hum. Then honeyed ginger, lactonic musks, several types of tea, the idea of flowers and Asian fruits seen from a distance without much detail. It's the smell of abundance, just like the description suggests. And apart from that apricot thing(which no one else sensed so strong btw), no fruit or flower is clearly recognizable; you just get the sense of "a lot", a blurred reel of all thing dried and fresh, a 360 view of a small world. Spices are not as obvious as you'd expect, not even in Chai latte intensity; there's a sense of an open space, a lightness that makes the abundance bearable, transparent. It's amazing. I think I wouldn't wear it personally but it triggered an almost painful longing for travel, for getting off that bus in the middle of a crowded place, a harbor, a square, a distant location where I would clearly feel as a foreigner.

Jodphur 6am is hard to describe because I’ve truly not experienced anything similar to it for comparisons. Do I think it’s a successful attempt at a chai fragrance? Absolutely not—but I enjoy what it is. In the opening, I would describe it as smelling like a strip of pink bubblegum while it’s still a little bit dusty and before you put it in your mouth to chew. It has a clean undercurrent to it that prevents it from being too sweet for my taste. I sent a sample to one of my friends who is into fragrance too, and she described it as “like toothpaste” 😂— which I can agree with to a certain extent—but I’d say it is like bubblegum flavored toothpaste. Once it settles on the skin for a few minutes, I can smell the spicy notes come out more. Which make it smell more like a strip of red spicy bubblegum to me vs the pink kind in the opening. This spicy red bubblegum phase only lasts about 20 minutes and then it returns to pink, and becomes like a soft powdery pink bubblegum on my skin.

This is what opening a metal box of black tea smells like. Photorealistic. I am in love! I am a lover of black tea but a hater of tuberose and generally tea notes, so it says a lot that I am absolutely obsessed with this! So, so good! Mmmm....

This is a lovely tea scent. The tuberose and spices pop up on my skin too. I'm surprised how nicely it develops in the hot summer weather when I normally detest most smells.

Creamy beautiful slightly fruity tuberose tea scent with some effervescent spices tickling the nose in the background. Elegant. Sexy. Absolutely love it.

One of the most unique tuberose scents

Very likeable but not really for me, I've never been a big fan of tuberose and I'm beginning to dislike cardamom heavy fragrances. Jodhpur 6AM is a spicy and fruity tea and tuberose fragrance. The main spice I get here is cardamom and honestly I'm surprised it doesn't have more votes in the note breakdown. The fruity aspect is subtle and more so in the background, it's also slightly bubblegummy but not overly sweet or synthetic, it's really well done and just the right amount. As the fragrance dries down this does develop an ever so slightly lactonic nuance that mellows down the scent a lot. I feel like the entire L'Entropiste line except for Blanc Sada all have a definite sharpness to them during the opening hours, none of them are really "round" or smooth. I mentioned in my Dorian's Spleen review that for some reason that smells very strongly of tea and cardamom on my skin, and for that reason I think it's very similar to Jodhpur but I prefer this as it's missing the bitter, roasted coffee/caramel from Dorian's Spleen (I'll admit I'm still very perplexed about Dorian's Spleen smelling the way it does on my skin). Unfortunately I'm quite let down by L'Entropiste in general. Out of the 7 fragrances I only like three of them, these being Ensang Noir, Blanc Sada and this, Jodhpur 6AM. Semence Douce is alright but it smells so similar to an ambient fragrance I have a hard time seeing it as something other than that. On the other hand Dawn Whispers has a great dry down but a very off putting opening. Dorian's Spleen was a huge disappointment as it smells almost nothing like the note breakdown would suggest on my skin, as alluded to earlier it smells like a mildly different version of Jodhpur 6AM. Lastly, I really dislike Altamura, the syrupy orange over the non-smokey bitter incense used throughout this line is a nauseating combo. I wouldn't call the discovery set a waste of money as the presentation is quite gorgeous and I appreciate the samples being larger than usual (2.5 ml instead of being in the 1.5-2 ml range and having excellent atomizers), however I don't really care to give the fragrances I did like more wears so I'll be selling my set to someone who might be interested in the house. Unlikely but if you're also located in Mexico or can receive packages in a Mexican address message me, I'm also selling my Maksim Perfume discovery set. Performance is typical L'Entropiste, moderate projection with a moderately dense sillage that you'll smell constantly for 2-3 hours. Longevity in the 8 hour range although I still catch light whiffs of this every now and then despite it being weak up close on my skin.

This is a very interesting thing because it's the most photorealistic apricot I've smelled so far. Meaning a perfume has imitated it about as well as it possibly can. This is actually a very well-ripened and sweet apricot. The mouth-watering kind and super soft. It's also quite fresh at the same time. There's a wonderfully airy flower here, and when I saw the tuberose note, I couldn't pick up any of its features besides the bubblegummy feel, and it's not dominant at all. The tea here isn't the "hey, I crush everything" kind either. I'm normally someone who picks up cardamom a lot, but here I'll call it minimal. A slight trace of spice lingers in the drydown. Even though it's very lovely, I couldn't wear it, because I wouldn't want to walk around as something this excessively cute and bite-able. I tried this at the same time as Dorian's Spleen and Jodhpur 6AM definitely has a better, much more wearable opening. I get the apricot/fruity notes, the milk, chai, some spices, and tuberose, but I'm genuinely a little sad that within an hour on my skin it dries down to a very faint, very simple tuberose scent. I need to experiment more and try it on clothes as well, but in short, I was hoping that the chai and spices would last a little longer and project a little more. Jodhpur 6AM definitely smells *good*, I just think that I was hoping for a little something different, and I think as far as tuberose perfumes go, I find Madurai by Memo Paris or Hundred Silent Ways by Nishane longer lasting, more pleasing, and more full-bottle-worthy.

I tested this blindly and was pleasantly surprised: the scent is light, sort of airy and reminds of water calligraphy. The opening is spicy and fresh with tea accord taking its place after a dozen of minutes. There's an underlying milkyness softening a plate of spicy herbs blended beautifully together. It's inoffencive yet layered and again, very well blended. I enjoyed this scent the most out of brand's offerings and even think about getting a decant now. I feel like it's a great spring wear but could also be your winter light-and-spicy reach. It's also lasted for a while: I sprayed it in the evening and could sence the dry down after waking up. Good stuff

To me, as a person who has never stepped foot in India, Jodhpur 6 AM is a beautiful, spiced tuberose with a chai latte base. The scent feels ever so slightly masculine-leaning and has a transparent, mouthwatering quality to it. It makes me think of sage glass bricks. We all have romanticized notions of at least a couple of cities around the world, but Jodhpur has never been on my radar before this scent. It was interesting to learn how both Bertrand and his apprentice perfumer had visited Jodphur and had a profound experience they tried recreating in perfume form.

Strong perfume but well done. It smells like candied fruits to me, with spices and a bit of fresh ginger, with a milky quality. It's round in a way, which is interesting for a such a spicy scent. There is a nice contrast between that candied fruits/ spices and the milk. I won't wear it myself but it was in the top 3 of the launch after Blanc Sada and Semence douce. I don't get the black tea, and the dry down do smells of milky tuberose with a hint of spice and stays for hours, even after a good shower I could still smell it faintly.

Strong sweet mouth watering black tea, fruity, aromatic and tangy but not spicy, leaning slightly more feminine. This fragrance is from the same world as Bombay Bling! which Dechafour made for Neela Vermeire. Despite the idea behind it comes from the Indian culture/ lifestyle, I certainly don't consider it to be too exotic. It reminds me a bit of Nicolai Parfumeur's Fig Tea and its aquatic qualities. Nice kind of minty freshness in the dry-down before it turns fruity sweet. Pleasant experience.

Opens with a lotttt of spice from that ginger and cinnamon. Settles into a more creamy, almost soapy quality from the tuberose. Then after that into the bubblegum quality people are describing. It’s super delicious, but for sure the kind of thing that’s not for everyone. I kind of wish the fruitiness was toned down a bit to make room on the plate.

I find this very complicated, there’s some great notes in there and the ginger comes through a lot on me. However i find the sharper spices clash with the milky base. i think if it leant heavier on the tea i would love it more

For me this is classic Starbucks' Chaï Latte with its spicy tea and laconic notes plus dried fruits (plums?) - a kind of "oriental gourmand" scent. I don't get any prominent white floral notes but maybe it's them that make the fragrance sound quite fresh and not to sweet or cloying. A comforting and luminous scent for an introvert, it stays rather close to skin and is more oriented to please yourself than those around you.

Dislike is maybe too strong, but most of the time its no for me. There goes why: Immediate start is good and interesting, there is very nice apricot, soft not sweet flower hint that builds its momentum and quickly (matter of higher minutes) builds its grade...more feminine than unisex...and then takes over everything. So intensive pollen and distinctive floral aroma, that I cant smell anything else for almost 3 next hours. After that for last few hours there goes back something good, soothing and fine, not sweet floral scent that I like, not that fabric softener as in hours before (even though it was not any generic boredom, to be fair)...but sadly as it looses its strength, you can smell only on intimate distance. Maybe on someone else this layout could be better, but ...maybe next time L'Entropiste...

even mentioning which fruit it is makes me smell strongly of peach. i might like it if i liked fruity scents.

Smells like that underground Berlin DJ who just wrapped up a set in Ibiza — the kind who lives off nicotine, late flights, and emotional chaos. Obsessed with avant-garde fashion and rare vintage pieces from the L’U.R.S.S., he wears Chrome Hearts and heartbreak like accessories. He doesn’t care about the gender of his partners, only about the chemistry — and somehow, despite the chaos, he’s disarmingly gentle, with eyes that make you forget your better judgment. There’s a strange gallantry to him — the kind that makes you think maybe he’d text you back, but deep down, you know better. The scent opens with a punchy, slightly bitter hit of ginger, followed by the warmth of cardamom that lingers like a late-night touch. Then it melts into a creamy chai milk tea accord — spicy, comforting, a little addictive. What starts sharp and electric slowly softens into something tender and intimate, like the afterglow of a night you’ll never quite recover from.

This is a great take on an osmanthus-tea perfume. It's fruity and spicy-tannic in the opening notes, with a hint of softeness coming in as the white florals begin to appear in the mid notes. Very much unisex, which I love, even if that's achieved at the cost of a faint 'room-fragrance' black-tea effect (the smell of my hairdressers' in the 2000s?). I enjoy tuberose in perfume but I think it does need to be complicated/combined with other elements to avoid feeling too heady, and this is a perfect example of how to do it. Jodphur 9am feels somehow familiar, although I can't quite pin down what it's reminding me of (Jacques Desange hair products, or a 2000s Lutens composition, e.g. Daim Blond?). It also doesn't top Fornasetti's Frutto Proibito as my favourite 'interesting fruity-floral', but it's likely easier to wear and at least slightly less expensive.
