Now I understand what a bubblegum tuberose is and I think lovers of Fracas, a more straightforward voluptuous white floral could also really love Purple Night. Compared to Portrayal Woman by Annick Menardo and Pierre Negrin which is another tuberose tobacco combo Purple Night is a more refined, elegant and voluminous interpretation. A stunning modern white floral cloud. There’s also no elemi in this so it’s perfect for those who don’t like frankincense. Personally I found the elemi in Portrayal to be screechy and jarring. Purple Night is so easy to wear and safe blind buy for those who love the notes. Dominique Ropion is a Master Perfumer for a reason. Perfect for cooler months. 1992 Purple Night Les Bains Guerbois (KRJ2, USD 135) This is sure addictive Tuberose scent, the pure narcotic tuberose scent without vanilla. It is just pure bubble gum tuberose, grape like - smell like Purple. It starts like normal candy tuberose luring like nothing really going on. But as soon as cigarettes' emerge, it like cigarette is pollen of Tuberose. It starts low but as scent stay longer you feel how scent squeeze your brain. and it is bitter / slight ashy like real cigarette, you addictive to it and you wants to smell it more and more. Same way you wants to smoke the cigarette. Excellent Execution One of Narcotic Tuberose that can be registered as Narcotic Floral. (and easy to use) 10/10

To get the best from this one you want an airy spray from a distance or else it is too strong! The slightly grapey opening (think rosso epicurio) gives way to a stunning slightly bubblegummy slightly sweet (but not very) tuberose. First time I tried it i was too heavy handed but the second time I totally fell for it. i could totally see this being an early 90s scent per the name. Not like anything else I've tried. Projects and lasts!

So tuberose + powdery vanilla + tobacco. It's actually quite nice, and I'm happy to own a bottle. The tobacco note is more like a lit cigarette than raw tobacco if that makes sense. Some might think it's too sweet for a man, but the tobacco note really stops it from being purely feminine. The dry down an hour later is where this REALLY shines and where I can comfortably wear it as a woman.

It’s a beautiful scent, very heavy in tuberose but not overly sweet. It’s slightly smoky because of tobacco and you can feel the touch of bergamot that brings down the sweetness. Definitely can work both on men and women, especially on a spring/summer night. If you like tuberose, definitely give it a try!

I never imagined that tuberose and suede could make such a stunning combination. I’ve had this perfume for a couple of years now, and it continues to inspire me with its unique blend, elegant yet bold. Its beauty gives me the confidence to embrace a bolder side of myself.

As much as I prefer to wear whatever I want regardless of the season....I have to admit that this guy is an autumn/winter scent on me. The tuberose is the typical "amber" variety; very similar to the tuberose in Tuberose Flash. (Enough that if you don't love TF I would say avoid this!) It's sweeter and louder than TF. I'm also the one that stuck Angel Muse up there~ And I'll probably be the only one -- it doesn't really smell like Muse; but the way the sugary-tinge-of-sour-patchouli cocktail in the background "buzzes" is very redolent of Muse to me...so "reminds me of" is appropriate. I feel like I'm layering TF and Muse when I wear it. It can also be overpowering if you spray too much; or, in my case wear it in the heat (again like Muse). It's fairly linear; although the tuberose is more prominent in the opening; and the tobacco shines a little brighter in the dry down. I do totally agree with Mistella that it's a lovely tribute to Prince~ There's 100% a "dark purple velvet" feel to it. Honestly had I sampled first I probably wouldn't have bought it as it's very similar to my other amber-y tuberoses and it will be many many months until the weather here allows it.

So, I read interesting reviews and came upon this unique fragrance while exploring "other" tuberose centric perfumes beyond the usual "heavy hitters." Plus, I thought it was cool that this fragrance was inspired by the late artist Prince...inspired by him and for him. To my nose, 1992 Purple Night is the lightest, mot veil-like, most ethereal and (dare I say) youthful tuberose perfume I've ever experienced. The opening is an accord of 1000% FRUITY, GRAPE-FLAVORED Double Bubble-Bubble Gum, which quickly settles down into a very youthful & sweet fruity floral melange. l struggle to detect tobacco. If patchouli is present, it's light. The dry-down is light florals with an overload of super-sweetness. There is a base of something smooth and earthy...suede accord? But this fragrance is tooth-achingly sweet. A unique perfume for the right person. Just a bit too youthful for my tastes...

This is an unfulfilled love for me, sadly. Tried it today on skin, got the slight greenness others mentioned before, a bit later the beautiful tuberose, I was really in love with it, but unfortunately after a couple of hours it got really sugary sweet (that’s on me, everything pulls really sweet on my skin) and then the patchouly came through which also didn’t agree with my skin (a lot of patchouly-notes turn sour/sweet on me, in a disgusting way) In the end (after many hours, mind you) it really reminded me of Pas Ce Soir from BDK - I also loved that one on paper but made the same patchouly-disaster on my skin. I would probably adore this on someone else, but unfortunately I can’t wear it. I tried to wash it off, did not budge, so if you are concerned about longevity...this does not go anywhere😄.

I actually smell more vanilla and bubblegum than I do tobacco. I got it after staying at Les Bains and having the perfumer tell the story of Prince, but I don't know if I'd repurchase. It's quite sweet but it does grow on me. I can't for the life of me get it to stay (except on clothes, but it does stain, it even stained my skin!) All in all, it's a pretty nice perfume. Very sweet and more gourmand.

This is my first Les Bains Guerbois sample and In 1992 Purple Nights I think I have finally found a Tuberose scent that agrees with my skin. It is incredibly well balanced with the sweetness/fruitiness of the Mandarin (no citrus vibe) and the tobacco. There is a distinct purple flavour to the fragrance but in a soft, velvety way. It is very true to its time period and description.

An intresting take on tuberose ! Narcotic, sweet-leathery (suede like) , a bit gourmand. Tobacco, leathery, woody aspects with floral tones. I get a bubblegum-vanilla like vibe ! Feels young and childish in a way or another !

Made in France, launched in 2021, Purple night is a bold fragrance for fall/winter and night. A white floral and oriental perfume. The name is very well appropriate. I can smell tuberose, jasmin and tobacco but tuberose is the star of the scent. More for female to my opinion, and when you want to impress. 1992 Purple Nights is appropriately named; this reminds me of the excess of the late 1980s and early 90s. A big round, in-your-face Tuberose, backed with a spicy tobacco, patchouli and leather chorus. This might work best as a cold weather evening scent. Not quite my style but I appreciate what Ropion is trying to do here.

I'm testing Les Bains Guerbois blind and haven't looked up anything about the brand or the fragrances. Well, while I'm testing blind you can't ignore the color. Still, it opens up fruity sweet, and kind of reminds me of joop but I'm sure I'm way off as I haven't smelled that in forever. I get elements of hibiscus, tart and dry under a layer of juicy sugar, maybe watermelon and strawberries. Looking at the notes, all that fruity juiciness is definitely explained by the mandarin, but I don't get much citrus per se, and if this is white floral, it is definitely a sweet one. While the patchouli and even the suede seem to add to the overall experience, tobacco seems non-existent. To me it leans feminine, but not strongly even for how sweet and fruity it is. Personally, way too sweet, fruity, but the quality shows through.

It’s a very sweet and “mature” scent to my nose and evokes memories of walking into cozy little vintage stores during the autumnal days. Not really a fragrance I would want to wear, but is something I would maybe keep a sample of around to sniff and remember..

Tuberose is the most powerful and intense in the flower Kingdom (for me, personally). The rendition of tuberose here is syrupy, dense, narcotic and bubblegummy with a smoky tobacco and effortlessly smooth, sophisticated, dusty suede backdrop. The mandarin in the opening really elevates the fruity facets of the tuberose, however it isn’t zesty or tangy, more like a citrus nectar. And the tobacco feels as though it’s freshly lit. The base starts to become ever so slightly powdery and almost like chocolate when the patchouli begins to caress the tobacco and leather—stays sweet and warm throughout. This absolutely sings in the mild heat and gentle breezes of summer, a golden hour olfactory delight. It is also so beautiful in colder months. 1992 Purple Night is certainly retro but isn’t dated, it remains current and modernised... becoming timeless even. Bonus points for the bottle which is a work of art in itself... and the magnetic cap!... because we all love those. One of my mother’s all time favourite artists is Prince, I grew up listening to his work and still do from time to time. He accepted who he was to his core—the embodiment of masculine and feminine, which this scent conveys remarkably with its carefully curated notes and blending. Not alternating between the two, rather intertwining them and making them one. A stellar scented tribute. 1992 Purple Night is one of those fragrances that made my eyes roll back upon first sniff and involuntarily throw my head back. I was high. And I keep going back for more, addicted. Sniffing my skin like a frenzied bloodhound. It’s utter perfection and I feel absolutely myself when I wear it.

Dominique Ropion gave us Carnal Flower, a fragrance many love, but I find revolting. The notes of melon and eucalyptus ruin it for me. He also gave us 1992 Purple Night, that I find far more to my taste. This fragrance doesn’t remind me of Prince, not at all. 1992 was the year that Basic Instinct was released, and 1992 Purple Night reminds me of that movie. It’s unsettling, keeping you off balance and wondering what will happen next. The tuberose wants to dominate not just the fragrance, but you too. It will corrupt you, toy with you, and may either kill you or become the love of your life, perhaps even both. Unapologetically feminine, but cold and calculating, like Sharon Stone in a white dress as she lights a cigarette in the interview room. ‘There’s no smoking in this building’. What are you going to do about it, charge me with smoking? 1992 Purple Night doesn’t find itself at the epicentre of the zeitgeist, it makes itself the centre. It lets you know who’s in charge.

Sparkling mandarin top notes give way to a deep, mature, dark tuberose perfume, much more unisex than other compositions. In the heart of the fragrance you can smell white flowers, especially tuberose but also jasmine, along with tobacco leaves and something spicy that is not listed. As the hours pass, the tuberose remains on my skin but the base notes that take center stage are suede and, above all, patchouli. It is sweet and full-bodied, it has a noticeable sillage at the beginning and more moderate later and a duration on my skin that exceeds 12 hours. It is a fairly expensive perfume but if you are looking for a particular, balanced and mature tuberose it can be an excellent option to use on winter and autumn nights. Scent 8/10 Longevity 10/10 Sillage 8.5/10 Quality/Price 4.5/10 Versatility 4/10 Packaging 8/10 Would I buy again? Probably not

This smells like something out of Francesca Bianchi's collection: It's that kind of heady, deep, tropical yet animalic white floral. Not at all my cup of tea, but if you're into that, definitely try this. Longevity and projection are both enormous!

I am completely blown away by this! This fragrance is so fitting for me. It's definite must have! The fragrance is so lush, opulent and vivacious. If I had to describe/associate the color purple with a fragrance this would be a no brainer.
