Firstly, the notes listed above aren’t as described by the house. These are: Top: Aldehydes and Pear Middle: Jasmin and Peony Base: Musk and Ambroxan For me, there are two very distinct phases of this fragrance that do indeed smell like fresh laundry, which is the intended purpose of this scent. On first spray, it’s like you’ve just taken the washing out of the machine. The smell you get when you open the washing machine after it’s final spin. It’s bright and dewy. I can smell the pear which gives this an aquatic, almost juicy aroma. I wish the opening lasted longer because that beautiful fresh burst is quite fleeting before it settles down and the juicy, wet top notes disappear, after which I'm left with a colder, more starchy clean scent, with a slight hint of floral musk, although for me, the aldehydes dominate this fragrance throughout. I think the reviewer below describes this well as washing on a line in the fresh air. This could be too clinical for some, especially if you’re looking for a warm, fuzzy laundry smell. Part of me thinks this is a wonderful artistic interpretation of a laundry fragrance and another part of me questions if I’m just smelling like I’ve put clean clothes on. I think most people will land in one of these two camps after trying this. Personally, I’m not sure yet how I feel about the cold aspect of this scent. In some ways I’m reminded of FM’s Cologne Indelible. Not that they smell the same as they don’t but in the fact that the FM has a very sharp musk that takes away from the softness of the orange blossom. Having said that, were this fragrance not to have this aspect then it would just be another clean, cotton fragrance that would be forgettable. Longevity seems fairly decent with moderate projection for a few hours before receding to a closer skin scent. It's fairly unisex in the drydown but leans slightly feminine when first applied. The jury’s still out for me on the scent itself, although at the time of writing I'm leaning towards a strong like. I shall be interested to see what this is like in warmer weather or after I've worn it more. Edit: Something worth noting is that the sample I received had less pronounced top notes than the actual bottle. The bottle I got is also slightly more floral in the drydown, which probably demonstrates the hand crafted nature of this fragrance.

Ok, so if you like clean musky scents this can easily be a blind buy. Its got a strong detergent like opening which quickly transforms into a powdery, airy, fluffy musky vibe. Like the bigger sister of Narciso Rodriguez Poudre, and the younger sibling of Vanilla Powder. So if you like this scent profile, Coleur Primaire could be a love for you. Im very impressed by the performance as well. It seems that this perfume house may be underrated.

I would wear this in the morning to carry me through a crisp, clear, cool and sunny day. I'd be wearing a white cotton dress or shirt that's been ironed with starch spray. Freshly washed hair, little to no make-up. Minimal jewelry. Couleur Primære is a scent that reminds you to correct your posture and keep it neat and simple. It's a love for me. I'd wear it in the morning and early afternoon.

I love this. It's odd. It reminds me of cook up. Definitely a baking soda, lactose, grey dope, cook up with an added Ivory soap note. This is pharmaceuticals bubbling steam and soap boiling on the stove. I could see this being a everyday scent. This takes me back in time. On my skin this smells very clean, sterilized, and like an unopened product.

If I have to color this perfume it would be white! A clean, welcoming, gentle and ethereal scent! This perfume gives me serenity! Artistic perfume, beautiful! Sillage: 8./10 Longevity: 9./10 Scent: 8./10 Overall: 8./10

Very similar to odeur 10 but this has a slight cotton candy sweetness and is less sharp

REAL NOTES Top: Aldehydes, Pear Middle: Jasmin, Peony, Rose Base: Muscs, Ambroxan I love and I have many different kind of clean musky perfumes, soapy ones, aldehydes, “clean sheets” etc. This one is the first one which really smells like a laundry detergent - sniffed straight away from the bottle, not in the clothes after washing. Imo this is not powdery at all (accord mentioned here in Fragrantica) and aldehydes are very sharp like musk as well with Ambroxan. Musk is not soft like I have used to. Flowers here are supporting the concoction like in many these kind of scents, you barely smell them soaked in detergent. Pear is not noticeable, not even as a slight sweetness. Somehow this is anyway very addictive. I’m sniffing my wrist and wondering did I really washed my hand after spilling the detergent on it. After a couple of hours sharpness disappears and musk gets much softer. A strong fresh ozone note appears, like washed sheets drying on a string after the rain. Still it never gets powdery on my skin. Definitely this is not bad but you have to love strong aldehydes and the scent of laundry detergent. This review is based on a random sample. i found this in my search for something similar to Love-O-Matic by Room 1015. i love clean, soapy, laundry scents. i can’t say the two are similar past the laundry soap smell. Love-O-Matic is a sweet, bubblegum-y detergent. this smells like Tide. sudsy soap scent, as opposed to clean linens. i love the smell, it’s just overpriced for what it is. longevity is good, sillage is moderate. you won’t offend anyone with this.

The laundriest of laundry and you have to love aldehydes and that crisp, detergent-like profile to appreciate it. It lives in the same general world as Blanche and Per Se, but that’s where the similarities end. Blanche leans floral, Per Se spotlights orris—this does neither. Instead, it smells like fresh laundry drying outdoors on a bright, breezy day.

Simple clean and a little sour probably from the aldehydes A better version of this is Frédéric Malle acne studios I enjoyed it and it lasted for a good while The price is steep Not something unique or different Since I have fragrances that are in the same category I pass on it

Unisex clean scent- as in laundry detergent. Strong, so don’t spray close to the skin or over spray. I have 4 samples of this that will not go to waste, but I will not go back for a full bottle. I prefer AMOUAGE EXISTENCE, which has greatly elevated the laundry detergent smell by adding incense- smells so good and like a perfume & not just laundry detergent! This should be good for spring & fall day & night; summer nights only. Happy sniffing!

Powerful laundry smell. But bit too much like prewash detergent. I’d go for MFKs take on this genre, like 724, as I find that brighter and smoother (likely citrus and sandalwood with the aldehydes musk). As is, this feels like you paid way too much money for Tide. I second below that this has no powder smell at all. I think it captures liquid soap well, meaning all aldehydes and musk.

Nothing truly groundbreaking. I’m glad I bought it just for €60 25 ml second hand bottle. Soapy, clean. Identical to PER SE by 27 87, but i like more Per se which actually I own the full bottle. Avoid if you are sensitive to detergent laundry perfumes. Personally i love them so much 🤍😻

To me this smells like detergent, clean laundry and nothing else I am afraid. Good lasting power and projection, but not a big fan. It is a good quality fragrance, if you like very clean scents. I tried others from this house and I am definitely a fan.

Agreed, smells to me like laundry powder. Nice, but not something I think I'd enjoy wearing.

Fresh laundry. Laundry, laundry, laundry, laundry. And that's it. Their website lists pear as a note, as well as some flowers like jasmine, rose etc., but if they're here they are faint and overpowered (dominated, crushed, defeated) by aldehydes. But that doesn't make it a bad thing... @likewhatilike gave a very good example of when or how to wear this - very much a gym-type scent, or perhaps a sunny spring/summer day where you'll be outside most of the day. I am currently wearing this side by side with Margiela's Lazy Sunday Morning, and LSM does a better job in this regard: If you actually want to smell clean and fresh, then get Lazy Sunday Morning, because it has a lightness and airiness, as well as added notes that give it nuance, but if you want to smell like actual FRESH LAUNDRY, or you want to give your clothes a few sprays so they smell like they've just been removed from the washing machine, then get Couleur Primaire. (NOTE: I'm a man) Couleur is definitely the more unisex of the 2, but even though LSM is more female, LSM contains more notes so people will smell you and understand what your fragrance is trying to say (fresh, clean, easy breezy), whereas Couleur smells so much like laundry detergent that it could come off weird and awkward. No subtlety, no nuance. Just detergent. That being said, if a full bottle appeared at a price I couldn't pass up, I would buy it, and use it for long walks or days when I am working outdoors for the whole day.

i love a laundry detergent scent, so i was excited to try this despite the less than stellar reviews, but this is straight up dove bar soap on me i'm not detecting any pear, florals, or ambroxan; just creamy soap strength & longevity are pretty great, especially compared to typical 'fresh' scents, but i personally would never wear this

Straight-up bar soap, aldehydic and somewhat animalic. Sits in the same vein of the FM Acne Studio, Jovoy Musc Pallas, but this one doesn't smell expensive or unique to me...I'm not a fan of this genre anyway. If you like soapy scents, this may be your thing :)

Smells like nice, clean laundry on the paper tester, but smells like a dirty diaper on my skin. That being said, it probably has to do something with my skin chemistry and not universal as plenty of people enjoy this scent.

Pretty terrible. Vividly reminiscent of caustic, corrosive detergent. Not even laundry clean in an enjoyable way like Blanche Absolu or Sun Bleached :(

Smells like I've spilled a box of Persil washing powder over me. Also difficult to scrub it off my wrist, so I guess longevity is quite good.

Really weird. Not on the same level as Blanche or Acne Studios. Honestly, from what I’ve smelled, the whole brand is pretty disappointing..

on paper, this was very subtle and inviting and nice, like laundry-- not fresh on the line, but laundry that had been worn for a few hours and absorbed some warm skin musk. on my skin, it's VERY SHARP and makes me want to gag. it reminds me of bile.

There are plenty perfumes that smell like clean laundry, but they smell nice. This one is very sharp and has a note which is almost sour and reminiscent of a cleaning product. Smells artificial and not in a good way

A scrubworthy concoction if I ever smelled one. NOTHING about this smells remotely natural. One chemical piled on top of another. Who cares what the notes are? Hate it.

Woah! This is brave. and polarising I suspect. You have to like ozonic air and aldehydes for sure. Specifically Aldehyde C11, which has an incredible, fizzy, soapy, top note character to it, and it's evident in this perfume for sure. What I like about it is the fact that when you use small amounts of C11 it can still penetrate and easily be recognised and in fact is very easily overdone. To have a perfume where there's really nowhere to hide, it's not being added in traces to give citrus a little push (although this may have a citrus note also) or give some sparkle effect to a fruity accord or top note. This is a laid bare, green/blue ozone perfume which to me does represent a spectrum of primary colours, so in that way it's clearly quite clever. I'd never opt to pick something like this up if I had prior knowledge of what it was all about, well I wouldn't be drawn to it, put it that way. I was pleasantly surprised by it. I haven't worn it enough properly to experience how the musks behave in the latter phases and such but I think this perfume stands out.

Fresh laundry indeed. I get some pear in the opening, but this definitely an aldehyde focused fragrance. I think that the laundry fresh scent profile is the modern evolution of the iris scents of the 2000s. Freshness and cleanliness is sexiness, and they go about it in very different ways. I didnt like aldehydes at first, but after falling in love with Xerjoff's Pikovaya Dama, I thought I'd try some others. I don't mind Diptique's Fleur de Peau (but it lean's a bit too feminine on my skin), so this could be a nice alternative. Not my usual style of fragrance, but have found it interesting. Wearing it makes me feel like this is modern and my tastes havnt caught up yet. I can see different occasions where I think this could be suitable (gym, wanting to feel super fresh on a summers day etc), so it's something ill check out a bit more. Performance has been good, which is an advantage compared to reaching for a fleeting citrus during the summer days.

I have a love-hate relationship with this one. If you were interested in Acne Studios by Frederic Malle I would definitely go with this because it is fresher And cleaner, less cloying. Side note , It doesn’t smell like et voila by teo (which I prefer but these 2 are completely different scents)... Regarding this fragrance, There is something so realistic, ozonic almost like a fruit or a vegetable that you had just cut and the juices from that fruit/is spritzing into your nose. (Finally figured out which fruit it smells like... mangosteen). Another way to describe this scent is like dove soap is sitting and melting onto your clothes in large doses or laundry detergent wasn’t washed enough off ur clothes... There is something annoying about this, but there is also something I love. I will continue to play around with it. Very laundryesque.

The brand itself states explicitly that their intention was to create a perfume that smells like fresh, clean laundry. In that case they have succeeded. However, rather than smelling like fabric softener dryer sheets (which tend to have a more warm, cuddly smell) this perfume is an airy, transparent, clean musk with a cold aspect. It seems to me that they were going for the "clean laundry dried outside in the fresh air on a cool, crisp day" angle. I will use up my sample vial not by wearing it as a perfume, but by applying 1 spray to my bed sheets after changing them.

Going by the last review, I have to disagree with the opinion The Muse is a blue detergent laundry smell. It is much more like steamy starched clothing, or very hot laundry right out of the dryer if you used fragrance free detergent. Totally austere and clinical. It lacks any of the uplifting soapy and bright musky qualities that make Tide, for example, smell so addicting.

-Opens fresh and a tad soapy. -Dries down generic. Like Dove bar soap. -Unfortunately, most (if not all) the scents I've sampled from the house of les eaux priomordiales...are soapy and generic. Makes them fall flat on their faces. -Not quite worthy of the niche price-tag. -Don't get me wrong, i don't hate soapy scents I just prefer them as fabric mists for my linens. (-)

I am a laundry scent lover but this one misses the mark for me. Yes, it does smell like wet laundry being moved to the dryer. But instead of gain or tide or other classic blue detergent, you've added a generous dose of bleach to the load. I guess it depends how you like your laundry for this one. For blue detergent scent I recommend the muse.

I’m in love 😍. Acne studios Frederic Malle = fabric softener. Coulour Primaire = laundry detergent! I’m stoked. My clean collection feels complete. This gives cold washed whites. While acne studios gives comforter washed in Downy. I’m in bliss yall. So much I sprayed it in the vent of my car!

I love clean laundry scents and this actually reminds me of an expensive-smelling fabric softener. It has an icy, frosty quality to it which is perfect for the winter season creating a feeling of winter magic and snow. A lovely unisex laundry scent!

super strong and raw aldehydes with linear and light muguet floral. reminds me of New Look (2024) of Dior, and Laine de Verre of Serge Lutens. it instantly dried down to any laundry detergent scent - 724 of MFK or Warm Cotton of Clean.
