L’Ile Pourpre

"According to legend, Phoenician and ancient Greek travellers were drawn to an extraordinary island whose outline was wreathed in shining purple. This mysterious purple nectar was used in perfume and to colour fabrics and became so valuable that it was reserved solely for the gods." - my perception of the perfume vibe exactly. The island is indeed fragrant with ripe juicy figs and is surrounded by salt water. The mineral aspect of the composition is very appealing, gives a mediterranian feel of early morning, fresh linens and white shirts. Luckily for me, shiso leaf is toned down quite a bit and is not as pronounced as in "De Bachmakov" from The Different company. I have been wearing Ile Pourpre in cold spring, but my guess is that it will be a tad sharper in colder months and a little bit sweeter in the summer. The bottle is lovely and weird as it feels both modern and ancient at the same time.

This is my first time wearing and i love it so far! Has an elixir feel to it with all of the aromatics and herbs. Very versatile, very multi dimensional, very complex. This is a fragrance for smart people. I envision a woman wearing this who owns an antique shop or something like that, and she wears nice clothes and wears beautiful antique jewellery she has collected from estate sales. She isnt basic and doesn't do basic things. She is the kind of person who indulges but not how most indulge on french fries and beer, no no, this woman orders the steak tartare and very nice bottle of red, gets facials and feels out of sorts if she misses her weekly acupuncture appointment. She has a terrarium, an old record player, and is as graceful as a gazelle. Update: this reminded me of something else, i couldnt place it but just figured it out- my daughter used to love a lotion by aveda - i think stress fix— it was just like this herbal and kinda medicinal and green. It is very similar to that scent!

Bergamot and ginger are the dominant opening notes, but L’Ile Pourpre quickly turns into a spicy fig compote and it’s a beauty. Some unusual added herbal elements with shiso, artemisia and angelica in the mix. I had a feeling I was going to love L’Ile Pourpre by looking at the pyramid and I do. Too bad it’s so fleeting. It’s only apparent on my skin for about an hour, and when it’s gone it’s vanished with no trail or sign it was ever here. But for that one hour it’s absolutely divine. I don’t like testing from a dauber, sprays always work better on me so that could be part of the problem too. And L’Ile Pourpre might work better in heat so I’ll wear it in warmer temps before making a decision. But my oh my, that opening is to die for!

I may have lost count of the LLI perfumes I would like a full bottle of, but this one is definitely close to the top of that list. So interesting but so hard to describe - beautiful zesty, aromatic and slightly fruity opening, great projection creating an aromatic cloud around me, the combination of fig and artemisia and some spices in the heart is just so lovely But then the soft base comes through and somehow it reminds me of classical perfumes, slightly vintage or something. perhaps it's the cashmere with whipped cream, I don't know, but creates a powdery note of perfumes I would remember from childhood... I really mean it in the best way possible and wouldn't want anyone to think it's old fashioned. Just quite unique

a superb assortment with boozy citrus and liquorish green leaves sprouting so vividly, cohered in such an enticing way with strikingly zesty woods in the middle notes, the freshly peeled off fruits smell so unthinkable here, the transcendental florals and narcotic ambers in the heart accords are used in a very frank and allaying approach through the vertebrae of this olfactive embodiment, it thaws in so splendidly with balsamic and nutty accords in the sub stream compounds so that I feel the same joy like opening presents in front of a Christmas tree as if I could smell the spicy candies hanging on that tree, the ginger-cinnamon hot chocolate that someone drinks in the room and the odor of the eggnog coming from behind

I have had a full bottle of this for about a year. Havent worn in a while but decided to try in hot weather. It was even better than i remember! This is aromatic, wearable, unique, spa like and definitely niche. It reminds me of aveda stress fix lotion. It is well blended and no sharp edges. I can smell it all day here and there. To me this is not sweet at all. Could go unisex but i think i prefer for feminine side. I want to layer with something for fun but i am undecided as to what... If you are looking for something different i would give this a try. It is different and messages a “i am my own person, i am calm, i am unshakeable” vibe. Today i layered with Kiehls musk and i really enjoyed this combo!

I had smelled it years ago and it stuck with me and finally pulled the trigger on a full bottle. I love it although I shouldn’t. It’s weird cause when I focus to smell it, I hate it. The fenugreek is pretty strong to my nose and smells like a spice shop. But when I blur out and not focus too much to single out anything., I love it. It’s very well balanced. A bit tangy, a bit spicy, a tad bit sweet, a bit herbal, a bit creamy. Very unisex. Mysterious and modern. Not too dark not too sparkly. Quietly enigmatic. Appears intellectual but can only be appreciated when you stop intellectualizing it. Can be worn day or night. Can’t wait to wear it out.

One word: glögg (mulled wine). This is exactly what I get from it: dried fruits, slightly winey (not as in alcoholic, more like overripe fruits?) and slightly green as well. I found it beautiful but sadly, on my skin it's very short lived, like 1-2 hours projection then skin scent for another 2-3 hours. It's a shame because it's a very pretty scent. It's juicy yet green, earthy and tart. Medicinal, even. I find it very natural and comforting. Perfect scent for a cold rainy fall day. Definitely unisex. I see it as less of a wearable day scent for work, more as a centering, self-aromatherapy kind of deal. Either way, I dig it.

This is surprising, and this juice is definitely sweetly addictive, I get the same smell firstly as the candy necklace, but it settle into something soft, sweet definitely tangy, I was drawn all day to my wrist in order to get a whiff, I will consider getting a bottle This one is strangely warm and fresh at the same time and the balance is beautifully done Edit : I bought myself a bottle, and yup totally worth it, obviously sampling before hand is the key, but this is so unique and addictive, it’s a real love, like a love a first snif. I’m not often awestruck to this extent by a perfume

This is a masterpiece. It's a spicy and warm fragrance that opens green with some ginger but then dries down with warm and creamy fig that's powdery with the slightest hint of sweetness. This fragrance is not for anyone who enjoys sweet gourmands. It's mature, dark and mysterious. It is intoxicating with an almost booziness but not a cloying one due to the powderiness.....its very dry. This fragrance lasts 10 hours on my skin and days on clothes if left. I can't stop smelling myself when I wear this. It can be worn during winter but also in the summertime. Best for evenings/nights.

It has a very faintly sweet, licorice and mysterious smell. Its French meaning is the purple island. It really does smell like a vibrant purple and violet It's strange that I don't get any fig or ginger smell from it. It smells musky and especially Heracleum persicum ( Iranian traditional plant named: Golpar) to me. یه بوی خیلی کم شیرین، مشروبی و مرموز داره. معنی اش از فرانسه، جزیره بنفش هست. واقعا هم بوی بنفش و ارغوانی زنده ای میده عجیبه که هیچ بوی انجیر و زنجبیل ازش نمیگیرم. بوی بوزی و بخصوص گلپر مانند برایم داره

This is a fragrance you have to give some time, but if you like dark, gothic perfumes, you'll love it - and I do. To be honest, the first whiff i got when i opened the bottle was...fish. And I thought "oh no". But I gave it a second on my skin and wow, it turns into this lovely fig scent. This is why i say give it some time. I can imagine if you only smell it from the bottle you'll despise it. This is how I imagine Mina Harker smells like. Dark, gothic, antique - lovely.

A balanced scent. Many fragrances attempt to achieve what L’Ile Pourpre does: it's a perfect mix of sweet, spicy, and green without becoming headache-inducing or boring. For me, there's something unexpectedly romantic about the mixture of figs and ginger. The warm, enveloping, and indulgent scent of figs combined with the pungent, sweet zestiness of ginger is divine. You can consider me a fan

I almost started crying smelling this one. That is how utterly gorgeous this is. Green fig, strong boozy fruits and something herbal I cannot decide on what it is. Resinous, surely and ultra bright, yet balsamic. I adore fragrances that are paradoxical. Green, sweet, syrupy, tart, bold. So very sexy. Edit: Sadly, I don’t like it anymore. I think my complicated niche phase is over, hahaha.

This is so gorgeous! That warming opening with ginger, Shiso and bergamot over the fig, blended with that base of cedar and ambroxan just does it for me! Such a fantastic blend, and it keeps getting better. I wore this on a breezy, mild summer evening and it was just spectacular! Super sensuous and classy. I didn’t expect this to be a love, but it just is. Full bottle worthy immediately.

The opening is beautiful and intoxicating with ginger, a dark fig accord and some tartness from the bergamot and shiso. Has a fruity character but very well grounded in a woody/patchouli chypreish base. Unique, elegant and restrained, unisex leaning masculine. It quickly dries into a captivating fig/ambroxan/patchouli base. Intriguing composition but rather short-lived.

It smells great, yes, great non-foody, woody- fig perfume, with best technical qualities. As a plus, no animal testing and no selling to mainland china. Everything abt this perfume is worth the cents. Just want to add something, as an info. It s not a perfume with a long shelf life, won t last more than 2 years. Keep it in a fridge if you want it longer.

The perfume strapped on little rocket boots and launched itself to the top of my favorite figs. It’s a jammy fig, warmed by ginger and garnished with the intoxicating greenness of shiso. So many fig scents use their own leaves for their green accord and I just can’t put into words how unique, beautiful and complimentary the choice of shiso leaf is here.

It was an obsession from first sniff, my mom and dad loved it equally. Very unusual and yet beautifully made perfume, it takes you to a magical place. The ginger and Angelica really do shine, this is such a fresh and zingy yet musky and warm one. I have a great appreciation for this house, I’ve tried 5 perfumes each better than the other. Brilliant 🤩

Sweet, fruity, spicy anjelica opening morphing into green fig and patchouli. The base is creamy musk and lots of ambroxan. A fig scent for people who don’t usually like fig maybe? Unusual and addictive. Fades very quickly for an EDP so I’m not sure it’s worth the price tag. I do absolutely love it though, would probably still buy it.
