Turtle Vetiver Back

I received a sample of this and find it strangely compelling. It goes on pure alcohol, which I haven't experienced before but that almost instantly fades to a powerful earthiness - dark moist soil after a late summer rain. It seems very soft to my nose. I doused myself in the sample because, like many fragrances featuring violet, I almost lost it in the first few minutes. I can't say that I can really identify the violet though. This is a very unusual fragrance that is hard to define. The concept of unisex fragrance is a bit lost on me but this one is appealing. I keep sniffing my wrist but I cannot name the notes - it is just a deep wooded pathway of soft earth, damp with leaves, a summer rain, with the sun just breaking through - like it a lot! It is feminine and soft but the woman has dirt under her fingernails and a sunburnt nose from working in the garden - a basket of flowers she's picked by her side.

Powerful reference-worthy vetiver with a mild, nearly unnoticeable floral undertone. Goes on beautifully, thick yet smooth and slightly herbally bitter. Almost fresh in an aggressively naturalistic, rooty way. It dries down to high quality vetiver, with heavy emphasis on the salty, peppery facets. Definitely closer to a "dirty" vetiver. Very nice and wearable. Highly recommended to all lovers of vetiver. If you're not a fan or are looking to explore this note, perhaps start elsewhere with something like Terre D'hermes or Guerlain's Vetiver. 7/10

I smell incense, or that is probably the vetiver note. A deep, dark, mysterious smoky, woody fragrance with hints of musk and violet, the vetiver starts heavy, smoky,on full force to later mellow down to a sharp, earthy but equally noticing sensation. IMO it would be easier for a man to pull this scent off, though there are women who would love the burning woodiness of this.A great scent for all vetiver lovers

the openning is so much promising as it give the effect of black ink and dark wild berries but as it goes dry it becomes kind of acceptable although i wish the top note would have last long enough. the vetiver is quite nasty and earthy here, a bless with all it's meaning.

Reminiscent of scents wafting through a magnificent century-old building that has been gutted by a fire and soaked by heavy rains-- strangely familiar, mysterious, compelling....
