Studied

Never have I fallen in love so fast. And here I was thinking fruit notes weren’t for me. Well.. I apologise, clearly I was mistaken. Pear notes are officially my new favourite thing, or at the very least that's true for this fragrance. It’s light and fruity, but not in a cutesy girly way, no. It’s refreshing comfort, an early morning with a dim blue sky. A quiet calm, when you’re the only one already awake, save for the trees and the moon that hasn’t decided to hide just yet. With the name being studied, of course, I thought of studying in an old library.. tucked away in a corner away from prying eyes, the ease of my own company. A glass of pear juice sits on the dark oak table, cold with droplets that cling and fall like a love let go. Rain taps at the window from the thunderstorm outside, gentle, like it’s asking you to listen. But the books on the desk remind you to study, they’ve grown stubborn with age; with years of people who skim through the pages, who nod along like they care, as if these words written into print aren’t a room you’re allowed to wander into. A lonely iris laid between the spine, a passing memory of something thoughtful, the accidental brush of a hand that still seems to linger. For me, this is comfort in every sense of the word. This feels like me. Like the star-shaped lights draped around the contours of my bedroom. Or the pile of books I still have yet to read that grows with every curious need to visit a new bookshop. It’s the daydreamer loss of focus that becomes more concerned with the ladybug on the windowsill, than the unfinished work or the perfectionist fixation on having pretty handwriting. The pear tree that grew in the garden of my childhood home. The carefree summers we would stop in a tea shop for a carton of juice and a slice of cake. It’s so cosy, so darling. Very easily wearable, and intimate on skin. I think something about the pear and the carrot seed makes it feel so fitting for spring and autumn, but you can bet I’ll be wearing this year-round either way. <3

This scent is so lovely, but it is such an exact replica of Clean Reserve Radiant Nectar that I struggle to really separate out how they differ. Radiant Nectar is my everyday base scent (the way it lingers on clothes is divine!), and I would say the real difference here is the level of woods to pear ratio. Let me try to parse through it: Studied is a watery and juicy yet airy pear/ambrette/iris/woody fragrance that is truly so comforting, fresh, clean, crisp and romantic. I love the story behind this fragrance-- Virginia Woolf is targeted marketing for me personally-- and it truly has an airy yet juicy quality that feels like fresh, crisp book pages with an open window lined with fresh linen curtains billowing out against a pear tree shading the window. It's absolutely lovely, comforting, clean, and it beckons people to lean in-- if they smell it right after you have sprayed, that is. The longevity is simply not there, sadly. The main difference between Studied and Radiant Nectar is that Radiant Nectar is pretty woods-pear forward, and the dry down is very woody with a lingering skin musk and fruity quality. Studied is much more carrot and pear forward, a tad sweeter, but sadly, the dry down is faint and I can't smell it after about 2 hours. I think because it lacks some of the woody quality that it lacks the slightly longer longevity of Radiant Nectar. If you are into the bottle, concept, brand, and are ok to overspray, I think grabbing a sample or bottle makes total sense. But, Radiant Nectar is so exact, you really don't need both.

This smells like lying down on a patch of sun-warmed carpeted floor, drenched in the rectangular rays that crept to the window and kept time for you while you read your favorite book. The juicy pear opening is the perfect. It is ripe summer pear, not astringent or tannin heavy that would leave your tongue dry. It also does not smell indolic or fermented. The ambrette is slightly nutty and makes the sweeter smells balanced. The "carrot" middle note may come from beta-ionone, but specifically boiled carrot. It does not smell green and raw, but faintly sweet and earthy that pairs well with the iris. The perfume ends with cashmearan and ambroxan which to me, smells like a warm hug in a light blanket. This perfume absolutely pains me in its sillage and longevity. It is truly an intimate perfume that I wear only for myself. Gosh, I wished it lasted longer. However whoever wrote that Clean Reserve's radiant nectar was "identical", its really not..... the notes may be the same but the composition feels entirley different. Radiant nectar smells boozy and a little indolic, not nearly as easy, and very heavy on the musk which overran the iris. Do not use that as a litmus test to see if you would like this, they are not the same.

I adore studied. Yes its style has been done so many times. But it is by far the best balanced fragrance of the “pear ambrette Ambroxin ect”combination I have found thus far. It’s very comfy cozy yummy and intoxicating. Not a gourmand that is overtly sugary but a natural fruity one that just makes you feel happy and very content. It’s not the clean freshly showered version of floating, but a soft delicious sister to her. As for dupes of this, I’m not entirely sure how anyone is saying glossier you is a dupe. Yes there are similar qualities but You is simply more peppery and musk forward with no sweetness. And studied is fruiter juicer and much sweeter. (Update-the dry down of these I believe are what people are picking up on, when the fruitiness and sweetness dissipates, this is reminiscent of You, too notes are valleys apart though) Also clean reserves sparkling sugar is not a great comparison either. But I am interested to see if clean reserves radiant nectar lives up to the hype of this one! I love the pear and carrot combo and I feel so grounded when wearing this.

usually, i never say that fragrances have a gender, male or female, i believe all perfumes are unisex. however, that was until i smelled this. this is so feminine it's insane. like, i don't think a guy could pull it off, and if im being honest, not a whole lot of girls either. this is a very very specific scent catered for a very niche audience in my opinion. i could see this working on a well educated, sophisticated girl, think of violet from a series of unfortunate events. i could totally see her wearing this. now, what does it smell like? it's VERY hard to put a finger on it, but if i had to try to describe it, i would say it smells like a carrot cake thats slightly bitter with some fresh pears on another plate beside it. you're eating the cake and the pears while wearing a cashmere sweater, and theres a slight smell of something musky or smoky, like someone maybe having burnt incense not too long ago in this room.
