Agar Épicé

This is a wonderful spiced Oud fragrance that's more Indian than French. The first 10 minutes takes getting used to, but if you're into Indian attars, you'll know the direction it's going to take. This one's built around (what I feel is) Assam Oud and Leather with Nagarmotha, Ginger, Guaiac and Sandalwood completing the composition. Nagarmotha gives it that 'church-like' incense feel, which in the initial spray smells like saffron. Ginger brightens things up. Guaiac adds a bit of smokiness. Sandalwood gives it a velvety finish. When they say Madurai meets Grasse, they mean it. None of that 'inspired by India but smells nothing like Indian perfumery' nonsense. 🇮🇳🤝🇫🇷 Loving the bold approach. ❤️❤️❤️

Beautiful woody spicy scent centered around a lovely Assam Oud note. The central oud note is first surrounded by ginger, spice, cypriol and slight leather. As the perfume settles, it becomes a powdery wood with the oud supported by guaiac wood and sandalwood. The masculine leaning scent has moderate to strong sillage and good longevity. Refined, natural and suited for a bold confident personality. Enjoy!

Testing this blind from their discovery set, got an initial spicy funky character, I thought we were heading in the direction of saffron, but it turned more woody incense. I thought the funkiness might be sour cherry or cassis/black currant, but looking at the notes now, it is the blend of the oud, cypriol/nagarmotha, and guaiac along with the ginger. The first 20 minutes or so leave a somewhat lean of unpleasantness, but it evens out and does turn more incense-like reflecting the leather influence) and hold onto what feels like a dried apricot, or the sweet side of rotting fruit. Either way it isn't offensive, but it keeps me from appreciating it more than being neutral. I agree with others, it turns more powdery as the day continues, but I think it remains steadily unisex. I appreciate it, has a uniqueness, but it isn't calling my name.

Finally, a perfect perfume that smells like India. Not the francophone, white people imagination of India. Not the Middle East vulgar overdose of oud. But a perfectly blended oud with Indian spice and floral. Meditative. Close to nature. Classy. I stay away from "unisex" as I am not interested in smelling like a man, but I made an exception for this. It doesn't have a gender but will simply enhance the wearer.
