Jasmine

I have been searching for this fragrance since I was 11 and my first boyfriend gifted me one of the original penny bottles when he returned from a family vacation in Bermuda - I still have it today, with just the tiniest bit of now-alcohol heavy fragrance in it. Sadly, it isn't what I remembered - but realized that less is more with this one! Otherwise, the Sandalwood really takes over the Jasmine. I was over the moon when I ordered it, and I'd know the scent anywhere - but I was disappointed. I could have sworn the formula had changed, but talking to the perfumer, she verified that it had not changed. The Jasmine scent was not strong on my skin, and she also told me that it had never really been a Jasmine scent. So I tried an old trick and rubbed a drop of Jasmine essential oil on my skin before applying. It added that little extra bit of jasmine, and made the fragrance stand up and take charge. This was my first ever fragrance, and now I've finally been reunited with it!

Jasmine perfume is part of the historic collection of The Bermuda Perfumery (Lili Bermuda). It was created in 1934 and returned to the current portfolio, thanks to the talent of the perfumer Isabelle Ramsay-Brackstone, who was able to reproduce the composition of yesteryear using current raw materials. Jasmine has top notes of tangerine, hyacinth, and neroli; body notes of jasmine, tuberose, and ylang-ylang; base notes of sandalwood and amber. It is a soft floral with a slightly woody base. Although it has, in its body, what I usually call the royal floral triad (jasmine, tuberose, and ylang-ylang), it is far from being a white and narcotic floral. On the skin, Jasmine had everything to be an aggressive scent, but opens with a juicy hyacinth, dipped in the tangerine juice and brushed by the luminosity of the neroli. Then, it begins to become softer and brings a floral bouquet of jasmine, as if we were smelling the flowers, not the essential oil used in fragrances. After a few hours of use, the sandalwood confers a little more creaminess and a woody content. Jasmine imparts a very natural scent, but it can frustrate those looking for an opulent fragrance. Here, the tuberose is harmless and the fragrance exudes sensitivity. If you are looking for a more intense perfume, I suggest getting to know Frangipani. But if you are a fan of perfumes that bring jasmine as the central theme – in all its forms –, then Jasmine needs to appear on your radar.

I have a vintage 2 oz cylinder shaped bottle, gold sprayer top. It's a beautiful jasmine, that stays in my favorite middle ground, not too indolic, not screechy. The other notes round it out nicely, but still give me the impression of jasmine.
