Spark for Men

In the early 2000s I thought this was such a wild fragrance lol. Just got a new bottle and it smells just like I remember although no where near as beast mode as I remember it being. Maybe I was just young and only had Tommy, Curve, Mambo, Bora Bora and Lucky You to compare it to and in that case this is much more mature than any of those. Either way this still smells very very good but is far from beast mode. It does radiate decently for a few hours however. What do you expect for $20? It’s crazy to think this was $70 back in the early 2000s at Dillard’s along with all the others I listed above. That’s $115 in todays money so I would guess it has been reformulated to account for the price decrease. Spark is very warm and spicy, peppery and almost boozy. It’s a beautiful fragrance that smells very masculine and honestly isn’t dated imo. I would still call it unique to this day even owning over 100 fragrances. Definitely worth the money. Excellent winter time or date night scent that you won’t have to worry about how much each spray is costing you--just spray away. You don’t have to spend over $100 to smell great contrary to what a lot of people on fragrantica seem to think. I still love Spark and most of the other Claiborne frags from my childhood.

I love this! Hot toddy you can wear. Smells so good in the fall and winter. Warm, cozy, comforting, boosy, sweetness and under cover sexiness. I first sniffed this back in 2005/06. Sprayed it on my man, playing around the fragrance counters in the department store, didn't think much of it. Hours later back at home, cozied up on the couch next to him, I couldn't stop inhaling this scent. His body chemistry mixed with this is so good. Needless to say I went back and purchased it for him. He still wears it now from time to time. I just go spray it every now and then, get a whiff, and it takes me right back to that day. I would probably wear this myself if it wouldn't deter him from wearing it. Another bonus, you can find it pretty cheap on the internet these days.

A gentleman's scent, without a doubt. It smells like a wood-paneled study room lined with bookshelves, where a respectable middle-aged man sits in an armchair, reading and sipping brandy, although the tobacco smoke conjured up by that image is absent. Very good for the price - I really hate to call this a "cheapie" as I dislike the connotation implied by that word. Still, it's affordable and high-quality. Decent performance, although it is one of those frags that is more likely to be smelled by bystanders than the wearer, long after you've gone noseblind to it!

The rum, cognac, honey and fig are the notes that stand out the most to me. These combine to create a warm and comforting, boozy kind of fragrance which leaves you wondering whether you should be spraying it on or drinking it! In my opinion this is a scent for the colder times of year as it's a bit too heavy and oily to be wearing in warmer weather. A fragrance that'd be perfect to wear on a cosy nights in, in the middle of winter, while sat in front of a roaring fire. Great stuff!

A good cheapie, a strong boozy perfume. I found the gift set for around $15 and amazed by ita quality. You can smell rum, honey, and cognac at the beginning. So pungent and strong, but 15-30 minutes the fig leaf started to show. After 1 hour, amber dominated the drie down scent. The bootle is unique, with dark amber glass and bronze like finished. The cap isn't so good made from plastic. But it is definetely a good value for that affordable price.

This has a strong cinnamon, camphorous element that reminds me of being on an old boat like the Mayflower replica. It now makes me think of cold weather and is very emotionally comforting and cozy. The silage is more than I like, but you know when you love a scent so much you want to keep smelling it? I wish more modern fragrances captured traditional notes the way this does.

I love this scent. Get some cinnamon cloves, add a little pepper and a hint of 12 years old dark rum, and voila!. Reminds me of Christmas in the Caribbean, since most of the sweets we do during that time of the year include cinnamon cloves. I don't have to explain how the rum gets into the picture, right?. LOL

Tongue-smackingly spicy & booze-forward scent, dries down to a honied and lightly green powdery accord. Not a major projector, about arms-length sillage. Lasts around 5 hrs on my skin and clothes. A very likeable foray into this scent family, super cheap.

there is a newer release of this in a electric blue and neon green script on a traditional shaped curve bottle...smells nothing like this at all...its nice but....its not listed here on fragrantica as of yet...

The fig+ honey+ semi-gourmad licorice= seductive, passionate and addictive frag. For sure... it lets sparks in the air! Add.: I think it's artificial... but well made!

I got Liz Claiborne Spark for Men last year. I forget why I did but didn't like it all that much. That said, Spark is rather nice fragrance. I have 180'd on it, but it is in fact a like for me. Liz Claiborne Spark is very much a mature boozy scent. I have to agree to an extent with ameda. Spark is not as Old Spice Original to me. Old Spice Original has an abrasive spiciness while Spark it is reigned in with the boozy rum in the open and the trace of cognac in the mid. I love the rum note in a number of fragrances and cognac is a note I enjoy from Sean John Unforgivable (not many other fragrances have it.) I think the cardamom note is as strong as the cognac note is. In the mid, you get the cognac and you also get honey. I think the sweetness of the two notes combine. In the base you have amber and some sandalwood as well. I notice some slight similarities to both Azzaro Azzaro Pour Homme Intense (2015) and Bvlgari Bvlgari Man in Black in Spark. I cannot say these are redundant scents. APHI is a APH meets Spicebomb with brandy while Man in Black is a Spicebomb with rum note added in and some iris. Spark doesn't have the performance of the other twos and more in line with Old Spice or most Liz Claiborne fragrances. Spark as stated before doesn't have great performance. That said due to the price, you can respray it and not complain too much. I get four/five hours with decent projection. I see this working for work, casual and dates. It is not fully into the Spicebomb direction, so I think you won't get "You smell like my ex who wore Spicebomb" comments. Spark I gets a 6.8 out of me. It isn't a horrible fragrance at all. I wish I got this on my first wearings but alas I did not.

I like a good spicy fragrance on a guy, no glossing over that! This is a nice, boozy, warming fragrance, and it carries in the air really well. The heady mix tricks me into smelling cinnamon every single time my husband wears this, and it's even that way straight out of the bottle. It smells exactly like the color of the liquid. It's ambery and smooth in the base, and even though it doesn't smell super upscale, it's tasteful and classy. It's naturally sweet, and not at all a "put on" sweet spice like some stuff on the market. As a straight woman, I really enjoy this on my husband. Maybe that helps someone out there 🙃🍷🍯

For the affordable price, this has a good spicy, boozy scent. I can say without a doubt that the notes work well together. I initially get the cognac and rum notes with a mixture that smells like cinnamon. I am wearing this cologne as I type this review. I encourage you to put this in a travel atomizer, because it fades fairly quickly. This is a skin scent if you do not carry the bottle with you to refresh every 3 hours or so. Overall, I love the smell, unfortunately the performance is mediocre. I would have to rate this a 7/10. Pros - the smell is amazing and unique ( spicy boozy) cons- poor longevity, poor silage.

This is actually good. For what you pay you are getting a scent you can wear for casual, formal, day or night. It might be sort of on the border line for work, maybe too sensual/sultry(?). I have yet to smell something that smells close to this, cognac/honey/fig. As stated below, by a fellow fragrantica member-it might be synthetic but pleasin and not cheap smelling. I wonder if Hermes, Chanel, Creed and such high price have something like this? If they do it might be fresher/non-synthetic but probably costs much more.

Spicy and boozy. It almost has a medicinal vibe in the opening in my opinion. I don't love it, it's just okay. I've owned a bottle of Spark for Men for about 8-10 years and I don't think I've worn it more than two or three times over that period. I can't ever see me reaching for this again, there's just so many other scents in my collection that are better than this. It's not bad, it's just a bit...'meh'. It was super cheap when I purchased it, and for the money, it's maybe worth a shot.

I thought from looking at the notes that I'de like to try this. It has a couple booze notes that made it look interesting. I saw a mini-bottle of this a discount store today, so I bought it on a blind/impulse buy. It's a slightly sweet, warm, woody spicy scent. I think I can smell the "boozy" component in this. I don't think I like this enough to buy a full larger bottle.

I am in-between ordering samples, so I decided to wear Spark again, from 2003, found in my closet. For a cheapie, it has a lot of character. Seriously, Spark for Men is not bad, but watered-down, very weak. For a better-quality fragrance, if you want the same vibe minus all that rum, you might want to try Comme des Garcons Harissa.

A spicy/peppery oriental. Can't smell honey much myself, but I can detect some cinnamon and a little rum in there. It has a slightly synthetic smell. Spark is only a cologne so longevity is not brilliant. It's is a nice oriental fragrance for men and it has got it's own character and great for cold nights.

What a nice cheapie gem. My husband had a mini bottle of this that just had a few sprays left. He's a big fan of these vintage Liz Claiborne fragrances. Spark is so cozy, sweet, warm, and boozy with just a hint of men's cologne soapiness. Now I really want to try the female Spark!

Spiced rum and honey with the intriguing calm of fig. A great cold weather scent. Great bang for the buck, and definitely could be worn by a woman. Reminds me a bit of Cinnabar, or the old Night Spice by Old Spice

I remember wearing this on a trip to Chicago ten years ago and every time I wear it I am reminded of those days. Superb for autumn and walking through the fallen leaves on paths by a river. Highly recommended.

i didn't like it that much hmm... never forget it though, simply because when i'm sniffing it,those memories are comming back then. anyway i like sweet fragrances, at least it has the sweetness of honey.

A meh for me, but it's nice enough. Spark for Men is another warm, spicy scent for fall or winter, with just okay performance. It's got that "creamy" note about which I'm not particularly fond. It's low price and widespread availability are its best assets. I'm glad I only paid $3 and only got a mini bottle.

Smells good, in an 80's Old Spice-ish kind of way, but its attractive aspects dry down to weak dusty rubber finish within half an hour. Coulda been a contender.

Very generic. Typical masculine cologne scent. This will not get you noticed and probably won't offend anyone. Personally, I'd rather not wear any fragrance than one like this. Review of official mini bottle that came free with purchase. Decluttered immediately.

something feminine about it which really turned me away from this fragrance...

This is an excellent, inexpensive boozy/gourmand, though I have no idea if there were reformulations. There seem to be some "fresh" aroma chemicals used, quite obvious at first, that "amp it up" a bit, but then it calms down and smells more natural. Niche scents of this kind seem to be too strong, whereas this one seems to get the balance right, though to be honest I'd rather use less of the niche scent (such as the Le Dandy formulation from several years ago), the only problem being that niche costs a whole lot more! Overall, this is worth pursuing (at least to sample) if you are a boozy/gourmand fan and don't think that anything "less" than niche is to be avoided. UPDATE: This seems to share an accord with Michael for Men by Kors, which wouldn't be a surprise because Harry Fremont was the perfumer for both. No tobacco note in this one, though. And if you think this smells "feminine," all you need to do is to get an inexpensive lavender-heavy scent like Lomani, Drakkar Noir, Caesar's World Man, etc. and layer the two! UPDATE #2: I used just a half spritz to the chest today, and while it wasn't as strong it still wasn't weak. The good thing was that the "synthetic" qualities were mostly absent.

This is a dark sultry Winter fragrance. I get caramel and Amaretto notes and a slight hint of cedar or cypress. This is a fragrance for a date on a cold night, but not a loud clubbing or party date. No, this is a seductive, cozy, one on one getting to know you, mood setter. A corner table in a small, dimly lit bar where someone plays a piano in the background.

I get a really rich sweet ambery honey note, emphasis on the honey, coupled with the cognac or rum in equal strength, and I also get a strong spicy cinnamon. Doesn't evolve, so remains the same scent. I got it a long time ago, but still have it, and the aftershave.

Lovely light sweet boozy scent. For me the honey is maybe a little dominant in it for a male fragrance. This one would work for the ladies too. The peppery sweet notes combined with the subtle boozy undertones makes for a delightful late evening summer scent.

Peppery and rummy. Decent sillage. Not superbly original, and one bottle's probably enough for me in this lifetime, but I find myself going back to it now and again for its fun booziness.

I got this really cheap at a department store, it smells horrible; one of the worst "man's" scents ever to touch my nose. I had to double check to make sure it was not for women.

This smell so good and I think women can wear it as well. I smell some cinnamon in it but I see that's not one of the notes.

this is nice to wear while enjoying a good cigar or pipe smoking in a cool carribean evening.ciao!
