My Sin

WOW. May not be My Sin exactly but The essence is captured enough. And The notes - similar. I have The Extrait by Lanvin and it is slightly more rich & complex. There’s an important note in The original missed by The LLP version perhaps something no longer available. Nonetheless, My Sin by LLP is stunning. It is one of mY most used, and emptied rebuys. One bottle lasted me years bc for years I didn’t wear this due to mY life circumstances, stored it in The fridge and instead of going bad this bad boy like fine wine, got BETTER. Darker, richer, just a Beautiful otherworldly scent. I feel sorry for people who don’t know this, though it is not mY problem and it’s mY Secret 😉

I appreciate the effort put into resurrecting this fragrance, but the quality just isn't good enough to function as a replacement.

My Sin by LLP is an outstanding perfume. The quality is superb both in composition and performance. It is probably the best example of the abstract "fur perfumes" of the 1920s. Regrettably many of the prominent examples of this type have been reformulated to a point where they are basically modern perfumes now (that is not to say they still are not good). In terms of fragrance, the top notes are aldehydes of the dry soapy variety with a gorgeous floral (jasmine/rose) heart which is absolutely classic. The top notes barely hint at the fruity qualities of rose, but this disappears quickly. The dry down is a lovely musky talc with a prominent woody accent. Longevity is great for an eau de toilette at least 10 hours on my skin. Is it similar to the original? All I can say is that I have a pure perfume from the 1970s, which I bought unopened and it is quite similar in tone. However given the age it is probably mellowed as the aldehydes are barely noticeable so its impossible for me to say. In any case I dont' care, LLP is fabulous!

Found a 4-oz. bottle on eBay for next to nothing. I don't know if I just got a bad batch or it was stored improperly, but I find it very underwhelming. You can tell it's supposed to be My Sin, but it's flat and watered down and it rapidly dissipates to a skin scent. Edit: Found another good deal on a bottle on eBay. The juice is darker and has a strong, soapy, aldehydic opening. Sillage is strong at first, but it still fades to a skin scent fairly quickly. Still, this bottle is "rounder" and does a better job of capturing the old version.

The first perfume I ever wore. My mother dabbed a small bit on me when I first started the first grade and I wore it until the 7th grade when Oh! de London took its place. My Sin is a most precious floral. The original was not exceptionally sweet, but had a very pleasing softness. Totally feminine with a watery, rain-washed freshness. Very tender florals like you might smell late on a humid summer night in the South. It will always take me to the sweetest places.
