Vintage Collection Ylang Ylang

- Finally, a textbook ylang . If you were like me, struggling to find what ylang smells like when playing solo, without distractions of aldehyde, vanillas, other florals etc. etc. : This is the answer. Except the vegetal neroli blast at beginning, the rest of the perfume shows different facets of ylang: the lily-like bad odor ( paracresol ), the light-gourmand-y creamy "coconut" , the “lazy” soft old fashioned floral , the subtle “banana oil” tendency, the spicy clove nuance ( eugenol ) —— it’s all in there. Maybe there are other florals boosting the scent, but ylang is absolutely the star of the show, the true diva.

I knew that I could count on Maestro Lorenzo to deliver a bang on ylang-ylang, tropical in feel, succulent with orange blossom and jasmine fleshing out the accord, creamy custard ripe and voluptuous. It BLOOMS all banana oil sweet, speckled clove spicy, lush and decadent, finished with a boudoir powder and vanilla. I promised myself not to add yet another LV and to enjoy the ones I do own, but if I changed my mind... Also, Il Profvmo's Ylang D'Or has already won my heart. That said, this one is undoubtedly magnificent.

I reviewed this a while back and commented that it was too vintage-face-powdery for me, though a lovely ylang ylang. But this perfume seems to be one of those that grow on you, or maybe it depends on mood/season. I've been craving this recently, probably because the UK weather is a bit chilly for this time of year, so uplifting sunny floral perfumes are appealing. Having said that, the good quality organic ylang EDP I have just isn't cutting it, so I sprayed on Villoresi Ylang Ylang (from a generous sample I have) for the first time in a few months, and, my god, it's satisfying! It does have a face powder element - ylang is sweet and soapy, tonka is warm, powdery and sweet, so the two do give a silky, powder impression. The addition of lovely natural vanilla doesn't make this too sweet surprisingly, so I think the geranium and neroli keep things fresh. Natural ylang (as @kxnaiades below says) has many facets - fresh, banana-like, then drying down to more indolic, slightly urinous at times, so the vanilla and aditional florals here keep things bright and sweet into dry down. I still don't know if this style suits me, but I don't really mind if it does or not because it's uplifting - warm, sweetly exuberant and sunny, but not exactly fresh and outdoorsy, there's definitely a sense of refinement and sophistication. I'd place it on a par with scents like Number One by Parfums de Nicolai and Goutal's Songes - i.e. as elegant and non contemporary as classic Chanels such as No 5 or 22, but considerably more exotic and warm (no noticable aldehydes, so it's not vintage in that sense) I'd also think twice about wearing this on a car trip,it could be cloying, but for outdoor wear in summer or for dressy summer parties it's lovely If you enjoy sophisticated, tropical florals with a hint of soap and powder, I highly recommend Villoresi's Ylang Ylang longevity and sillage excellent, average to strong depending on application

Ylang Ylang is what it says on the tin - a sweet, tropical floral scent, ylang ylang-dominated throughout. It isn't anything unusual, but is a nice example of a beachy white/yellow floral. Creamy, smooth and sweet throughout, it is a strong, rich scent without being cloying, a common pitfall of scents of this category. The materials used here are high quality and the composition is nicely-balanced. It feels to me like a retro scent created with a modern audience in mind. YY opens with orange blossom and neroli, sweet and tropical, fruit-tinged and lush. Jasmine rounds it out, sweet and full-bodied, almost indolic but just remaining on the right side of sweet and clean. It paves the way nicely for the eponymous ylang ylang note that emerges after a little while. The blend of white and yellow florals is lush and heady, almost carnal, but erring on the side of sweetness. It becomes a little powdery as it develops, perhaps thanks to the rose note, but the rose itself remains firmly in the background. Vanilla, a predictable addition to the base, enhances the sweetness of the white-yellow floral accord, keeping things smooth and creamy. Some tonka bean is evident during the drydown, adding an almond-like quality that complements the vanilla to perfection. It fades to a vanilla-ylang skin scent, sweetly tropical until final fade. Sillage is moderate and longevity is long-lasting. A beautiful example of a beachy floral, YY is nothing unusual, but its quality and composition set it apart. Refreshingly, there is no coconut here. Rich without being cloying and long-lasting without being overpowering, it is a great feminine summertime scent. 4/5.

Lorenzo Villoresi has bottled the exact smell of the flower in this scent. Ylang ylang has a distinctive scent that stands out amongst other floral notes although I find it hard to pin it down in words for like patchouli it can play so many characters from spicy green to heady narcotic and fits beautifully in a tropical garland. It's restrained and elegant in APOM Pour Femme but Ilang Ivohibé showcases its multiple personalities. In Lorenzo Villoresi's Ylang Ylang, it's ylang ylang all the way as if I am holding a few of the golden-yellow spidery blooms in my hands. Simple and linear but a very pleasurable scent that is soothing and uplifting. Moderate projection and lasts forever!

for me this opens with a lot of neroli and geranium, it's herbal and quite strong. those notes die down and the ylang ylang becomes more prominent after awhile. i get a hint of vanilla/tonka if i inhale deeply, but primarily this is a strong, dry, vintage-esque floral on me. it takes quite awhile, but eventually dries down to a sweeter ylang ylang with vanilla. i like it once it dries down but the beginning is a bit rough on me. trying in colder weather: this works MUCH better for me in cold weather. it starts with a slightly sweet neroli followed by ylang ylang. definitely smells vintage, in the best way. i really like this one a lot, just have to wear it in the right season!

If I had to categorize this scent, I would call it a nostalgic yellow floral. While the house did achieve a nostalgic aura suitable for the description Vintage, the overall composition of the scent makes you think of vintage glamour, or vintage beauty. There is something about it that makes you think of the seemingly effortless beauty in sepia tinged photographs. My personal impression of it is that this fragrance is mature; but, in a "Mrs. Robinson is mature compared to Elaine" kind of way. She's the sultry she-devil crooking her finger in a particular direction while cooing, "Whatever Lola wants. . . . ."

280 I really wanted this one to work, ylang ylang...The opening is stemmy/vegetal but then it becomes a beautiful natural smelling flower with a bit of everything(tart, sweet, indolic, creamy). Unfortunately that stage doesn’t last long enough (on skin) and it dried down quickly into the opening stemmy/vegetal scent. 7/10-very nice but the stemmy/vegetal smell is long lasting into dry-down and the best parts don’t last long enough. It’s also watery weak for this brand. Good for warm days and spray generously.

I am disappoint. Too much vintage and not enough ylang. There’s just so much 50’s style soapy-powdery-aldehyde-ish here. It’s vividly similar to a solid perfume in a gold scallop shell I “inherited” as a girl from a various grandmother; which means it was probably something Avon. I did not enjoy that one either.

Wow. Ylang is a favorite note of mine - all stemming from my beloved Chanel No. 5, so when I saw a vintage bottle of this, I was hesitant to buy it because, in all honesty, I really don't need another ylang-ylang perfume. I already have and love M Micallef Ylang in Gold, Patou Sublime, Guerlain Ylang Vanille, L'Artisan Vanilia, and Chanel No. 22 - all in constant rotation. However, I love almost everything from this house - Villoresi's style is very classic, rich and syrupy, so I caved in and bought it. Thank God I came to my senses! This is seriously beautiful!! It really does smell like natural ylang-ylang flowers but against a background of a super luxurious powder, a warm tropical vanilla, and just a teensy hint of soap. If you've tested his Tropicana, this is along the same lines but with the focus on ylang-ylang. It's a new favorite, and highly recommended for those of us who love tropical fragrances.

Rich, opulent perfume.... magnificent flowers that give an almost retro feel despite how opulent they are! I remember this fragrance in a period of my childhood where my grandmother-in-law kept a perfume very similar to this fragrance on the mirror in the bathroom... where perfumes were previously mistakenly kept, I smelled it and sprayed a small amount on my wrist. ..it goes without saying that it lasted an eternity, ylang, jasmine, vanilla and bourbon give that confusing vintage touch, I don't perceive tiaras and roses, they are probably sucked into a powerful and powdery accord, they must like the very floral scents, a little I repeat, vintage, it's definitely not for young women, I see it for women aged 40 and up... even if everyone does what they want. Magnificent nostalgic.... personally it makes me feel like a goddess when I wear it, it gives me a feeling of absolute eccentricity

I sampled this fragrance because I’ve been looking for a beautiful ylang ylang-forward scented and I was very impressed with Teint de Neige from this same house. I began to somewhat enjoy Ylang Ylang after my 3rd or 4th wearing experience, but ultimately it’s too retro for my taste. My brain keeps thinking “baby wipes!” so I know I’m unfortunately not able to fully appreciate this perfume. They do not smell alike but the base of Ylang Ylang reminds me a bit of Anais Anais.

Here's the rose again, along with the gang of heady flowers, all of them. Strong. Smooth. A muskier and a tad herbal version of an 80's femme fatale boudoir fragrance in flashy bubble gum glow. A killer fragrance of the same religion as Poison and Samsara. A makeup bonanza later. This is vintage indeed.

I liked the opening. That was when the neroli, ylang ylang and the tiare were most noticeable for me. The drydown is way too powdery for my taste. Pity.

No, this is not for me. Nothing sweet or flowery going on here. It’s a strong suffocating powdery scent. I get the vintage idea, not loving it.
