Feraud pour Homme (Fer)

There is a surprising void of information regarding this cologne, which seems like a tragic blunder by this site. Formulated in 1984 by Avon and commissioned by Feraud; two-time 1985 FiFi Award winner for Best Perfume and Best Packaging, then re-released in America as Fer in 1992, only to find itself discontinued and lost in the annals of modern perfumery. Such is the travesty of Feraud Pour Homme. I have been tested by the frigid initial blast of lemon, bergamot and lavender, and a undeniable soapy dose of aldehydes, and fretted smelling further. But rest assured, this is only a temporary assertion. At the heart, this scent develops with cardamom and apple wood a soft spiciness that leads expertly into the dry down. A hefty hand of patchouli, musk, and cedar wood add a spicy warmth to the frosty chill, while further animalic notes of leather, vetiver, and earthy oakmoss round out any remaining rough edges. Although this seems like a textbook, old school fougere; don't be fooled too quickly. This ends remarkably in the territory of woody florals, such as Lovely by Sarah Jessica Parker and Narciso Rodriguez. Point in fact, this contains almost identical ingredients compared with Lovely - so if you like one, you will almost certainly like the other. Ultimately, this has a cozy, soft warmth I associate with a Sunday hug, or rainy day read.

Wow! I Never knew this was sold under a different name,FER....Here in The U.S. this was sold Simply as Feraud Pour Homme Cologne... in 1984 Feraud was AVONs Debut in Designer Fragrances and What a debut this was with FANTASQUE being it's female counterpart...There are No Notes listed here but I get Lemon..Herbs..possibly a little Lavender and Oak Moss...All I know this is STILL IMO one of AVONS Finest Mens fragrances...I Currently have 2 New Full 2.5oz Vintage bottles(So LUCKY)...this is Type of fragrance as Vintage YSL Homme was, I own that Too or possibly Dior Eau Sauvage...Fresh,Clean,Soapy, and lightly Spiced, Wonderfully Aromatic.. the kind of fragrance that requires you Dress Nice for the wearing of this Elegant Gentleman! Also won a FIFI Award in 1985!!

A rare underrated masterpiece for the house of avon...the scent matches the bottle a very dark mossy herbal juice got some tar some citric black licorice purple lavender... this is a complex linear fragrance if that makes any sense ..think of a cross between Dali pour homme and K Cologne by Mary Kay and pinch of Drakker Noir ...that's the vibe you get with this ...but its not hippy..nor is it gothic...it's linear yet dark and alluring ... black licorice and lavender are prominent with subtle notes surfacing as it projects ..those who find dark 80's scents interesting should seek this out

I received a tiny bottle of Avon "Feraud Pour Homme," which some internet searching has taught me is the same as this Fer Louis Feraud. (I see Fragrantica has updated the name now.) I have to say, I am genuinely surprised that this was intended to be a masculine scent! I would honestly not have guessed. I feel I could wear this as a woman, and no one would think it odd. Most Avon scents make me sick to my stomach, but I actually like this one! It's surprisingly soft (but I'm also only wearing a little tiny drop of it on my wrist). As others have stated, the scent is VERY soapy. I detected some lemon in the opening, but it is overall exactly what you'd imagine generic fresh-floral bar soap to smell like. I'm picturing a light yellow cake of soap on a cute little bar soap holder by the sink at Grandma's house when I was a kid. Simple, generically fresh and clean, but pleasant.

I think of the 1980s (and I'll let that decade extend into the early '90s) as something of a golden age of men's fragrance, with so many of my all-time favorites debuting in a period of 12 to 15 years--Davidoff Cool Water, Chanel Egoiste Platinum, Calvin Klein's big 3 (Obsession, Eternity, and Escape), L'eau d'Issey--the list goes on. Feraud Pour Homme is Avon's contribution to that golden age. This was, in my opinion, the hands-down best men's fragrance they have ever released. It was so well-received, it was difficult to get as it was constantly in back-order (and my mom was an "Avon lady!"). It is still the only offering from Avon that I think competes with department store designer scents. If you can still find a bottle that has been sealed and climate-controlled, it is worth a smell. I would love for Avon to have continued their Feraud line as they were some of the most creative fragrances they ever produced.
