Extreme Patchouli

I just got a bottle of this nice dark woody-herbal fragrance, it smells very nice, but as I have tried it several times, I find the fragrance very "girly", for a young girl or maybe a 22-year-old boy ..... I am an old wolf. Normally, I wear old-fashioned fragrances (Aramis, Quorum, Bogart (signature), Polo (green bottle), Givenchy gentleman (1974), Agua Brava, Acqua Di Parma, English Leather), these new fragrances have a high status and great pedegree, but they are not for me, they were made for those new people (girsl and boys), but I belong to the old school .......

I used to believe Lalique's Encre Noir smelled like a medicinal tincture but those were early impressions only. Extreme Patchouli however...oh yea this is definetly that. Dark, earthy, herbal, green, bitter, almost pungent. Picture this: You rent a cabin in the mountains with some friends on a weekend, having a great time, partying and drinking all night. Drunk, you get out for some fresh air and go into the woods to take a piss, with a bottle of gin or vodka still in your hand. Since you're...properly inebriated, you stumble and fall and by the time you manage to pick yourself up, half the bottle poured on the ground onto some dark green leafs. To my nose this fragrance smells exactly like alcohol soaked dark green leafs and wet, soaked earth. Better yet, imagine an old granny or even Baba Yaga herself applying some witchcraft balm on your wounds then cover it with ivy or mint-like leafs and rubbing alcohol whilst giving you a creepy and chilling smile. You ain't sure wether you're about to have a surreal Shamanistic experience that heals you in a miraculous way or you're about to become stew. It definetly has its appeal and its an affordable scent (reluctant to call it a fragrance to be honest, feels almost like an essential oil) but with relatively limited wearability. Not a day to day or office scent, but perfect for going out in nature and also great to wear for yourself. Never smelled anything like it and for most people it wouldn't qualify as a perfume but i myself enjoy it very much. Its not a perfume that surprises through exceptional quality but by providing a niche experience for bargain bin prices if you ask me.

I bought this blindly on line after long resistance as no near place to test it. I like Patchouli and like the brand. It kept popping up my screen and the price was getting more attractive so I felt I got a bargain. Nice bottle and colour. It smelt familiar to me but couldn’t remember. It was deep and rich in a pleasant way. As it dried down, I started to connect with Quorum and Polo green. The family complemented and when I picked my shirt next day, it smelt nice. I didn’t feel it was too oriental but rather Mediterranean and more on the masculine side. I recommend it if you like that kind of sent and definitely good value (£19.99) out of £50 RRP.
