The review is going to be a bit long, so whoever makes it to the end will be a real champ. Grab a coffee and read it with me. I’ll try not to bore you, but every word is written straight from the top of my head and reflects only my own opinion. There will surely be someone who sees things completely differently. Let’s go. Selection: I got to Orage by a huge and actually incredibly lucky coincidence. When I was ordering samples of other Louis Vuitton perfumes, Orage came included as a free gift. Originally, I didn't actually want it at all and wasn't even longing for it. But when someone gifted it to me to test, something unexpected happened. Right from the first spray from the sample, I knew this was exactly something I would enjoy and something that was noticeably missing from my fragrance shelf. And especially my neck. From the very first moment, I felt that I had never smelled anything so original before, and probably never will again. It completely absorbed me. That's why, almost the very next day, I started intensely searching to buy a full bottle of Orage. Selection Criteria: Many users and reviews like to categorize it as a citrus fragrance. There are quite a few of those people, but I have to refute that right here. For me, Orage is definitely not about citrus, maybe a little, but really only slightly. As I wrote before, Orage came to me purely by chance, so it was actually never on my radar. In the end, though, it was the best thing that could have happened. Appearance: This point will be a bit more complicated this time. I like it when a perfume looks luxurious on the shelf and stands out. The appearance of this bottle, however, is downright simple. Sure, someone might call it minimalism and clean lines, but for me personally, the bottle design is simply boring. It doesn't dazzle. I see it as a minor drop in the overall, otherwise fantastic impression the perfume leaves. Fortunately, the juice inside safely saves it. Longevity: Again, I'll keep this short so we don't waste time. This is not a "beast mode" fragrance that fills the whole room. Orage is more of an intimate and personal affair. However, compared to most other LV fragrances, Orage has surprisingly above-average longevity on my skin. That actually won me over right away too. Even so, I like to reapply it after a few hours just to enjoy that fantastic, fresh opening all over again. If we're talking about hours, the reality for me is 5-6 hours with absolute certainty. Any time beyond that takes its toll. Positives: Orage is an absolute masterpiece for me. Many see it differently and completely the opposite, and I can understand that too. It is literally a rainy sky in a bottle. Imagine the mood: it smells like a peaceful walk through a garden after a fresh spring rain, when the warm sun is just starting to peek out. Like raindrops hitting the hot ground on a summer day. Simply perfection. I smell that earthiness, which is the purest I have ever smelled. The fragrance hides within it all the phases of rain, from the very change of humidity in the air, through the smell of wet earth and grass when the first drops hit, right up to that cooling and fresh feeling when the rain stops. After all, pretty much everyone knows that the air after rain is the most beautiful smell to the human nose. Orage captures this moment absolutely brilliantly and flawlessly. Conclusion: If I had to sum it up in human terms, Orage simply wrapped me around its finger. It's one of those fragrances you don't wear to draw the attention of everyone around you, but you wear it purely for that fantastic personal feeling it gives you. In addition, you can easily wear this perfume in summer, in winter, during the day, and at night. It's fantastic for everyday wear, or just when you want to have a moment to yourself and feel great. If they hadn't given me that sample with my purchase back then, I would have missed out on this gem. Comparison: On various forums, I've noticed people sometimes comparing Orage to other woody or earthy fragrances, like Dior Homme 2020. They say they have a similarly constructed woody and musky base. For me personally, however, it's completely different. Orage has a much dirtier and earthier touch of patchouli and an absolutely unique damp character that we simply won't find in Dior. And if I want to get "dirty" with my expressions, I can easily write that Orage is wet dirt, rotting leaves, all lightly smeared with lemon. To tell the truth, I haven't found anything similar to Orage yet. And I think there is nothing quite similar on the market either. It is a unique experience that goes absolutely its own way.

Orage, French for Thunderstorm, is one of those LV fragrances that kind of falls by the wayside and doesn't get talked about very much. It just can't seem to compete with the likes of Imagination or Afternoon Swim. However, I am a huge fan of petrichor scents, so when I found out what Orage meant I was instantly interested. Will this fragrance live up to its thunderous name, or will it fizzle out like a summer drizzle? Let's get into it; Scent: The opening is citrusy, woody, and earthy. The primary notes I get are bergamot, patchouli, vetiver, and ISO E Super. The strongest of the notes are the bergamot and patchouli. The bergamot is citrusy, slightly spicy, and very natural smelling. It is very photo-realistic, and reminds me of the aroma of a hot cup of Earl Grey tea. The patchouli is the dark and earthy variety and again smells very natural. This is followed by the vetiver and ISO Super. Both are very woody notes and combine to lay a strong foundation of woodiness. Being of the Javanese variety, the vetiver lends more of a dustiness while the ISO E Super carries more of a cedar-like quality. The most interesting part of the opening is the undeniable petrichor accord. There is no dedicated petrichor or "rain" note in the breakdown, so I'm assuming the earthiness of the patchouli is doing the heavy lifting here. Where the "watery" aspect of the petrichor is coming from I'm not sure, but the petrichor accord is supremely noticeable. The dry down is woody, earthy, and fresh spicy. The primary notes I get are vetiver, patchouli, bergamot, and ISO E Super. The strongest of the notes are still the patchouli and bergamot. The patchouli carries the same earthy quality from the opening, while the bergamot has dialed back on the citrus and leaned more into its spicy/aromatic side. This is followed by the vetiver and ISO Super. In the dry down, both notes are still holding strong to their strong woody foundation. Most importantly of all, the petrichor accord is still present in the dry down. I wouldn't say it's gotten weaker or stronger; interestingly it has maintained the same strength from opening to dry down. All things considered, the fragrance is fairly linear. And being a petrichor lover, this is just fine with me. Performance: Initial projection is very strong and fills the room when I walk in. Sillage is very strong as well and leaves an unmistakeable scent trail. After a few hours the projection was still strong enough to reach the other side of a room, and the scent trail was still easily noticeable. At the 7-8 hour mark the projection was still 5-6 feet and the scent trail was still easily noticeable. At the 9-10 hour mark the projection and scent trail were unchanged. Astonishingly, this fragrance didn't wear off to a skin scent until after the 12 hour mark. This fragrance lasted much longer than the votes would indicate. When to wear: This is a spring/summer scent most suited for daytime wear. The rain-like quality of the fragrance strongly lends itself to the feeling of spring showers. This is a more casual-wearing fragrance, and would be suitable for everyday wear or office wear. Formal occasions and date nights would not match the vibe of this fragrance very well. Blind buy: I wouldn't call this a safe blind buy just because petrichor isn't a mass-appealing note. However, if the idea of smelling like fresh rain on a warm day appeals to you, Orage is worth checking out. Final verdict: This fragrance did everything I wanted it to do. From the very beginning of the experience I was reminded of a tranquil spring rain on soft earth. Smelling the petrichor in this fragrance was like wrapping myself in a warm blanket; gentle, relaxing, comforting. It's the kind of fragrance that someone could sleep to. Spray this into a room, put on some thunderstorm ambient noise, and drift away into a deep slumber. Of course, we have to mention the absolutely stellar performance as well. For being such a light and fresh scent DNA, the performance struck like a lightning bolt and continued on and on like a sonorous rolling thunder. To some, this type of scent DNA may come across boring. However, if you love petrichor like I do this is a must-have in your collection. Is it overpriced? Yeah of course it is; it's Louis Vuitton. But I haven't experienced a better petrichor fragrance yet, and that might just make it worth the buy for me (and maybe you too). Scent: 10/10 Longevity: 10/10 Sillage: 10/10

When I first smelt this fragrance on someone I know 3+ years ago, it nearly smelt like a 'hospital' smell, in the best way possible. It was strange, yet intriguing. I hear alot of mixed reviews on this cologne however let me share my take. This perfume takes time to get used to, and once you smell it ever so often, you become addicted to it. I am yet to find a fragrance which comes nearly as close to this, longevity wise, scent wise and overall - something that smells so unique. When this is first sprayed, the best way I can describe it is nearly an intense, liquorice smell. This may scare people away however let me emphasis how fast the scent changes into something so much more fresh, clean and again - addicting. The notes on this perfume are very accurate, and very present. Its earthy, wet, but seductive and at the same time - polite. Its easy to wear all day, but also wear out to dinner at night. You spray this on a piece of your clothing, and when it goes through the wash, you will still smell the scent for weeks on the clothes. I can't put my finger on it but this colonge is extremely well developed and I would agree, a rainforest kind of vibe is attached to it or as the name says a thunderstorm. Alot of people say this is overpriced however what people dont realise is first of all, you are paying for the brand name LOUIS VUITTON. Second of all, you are paying for the intense, prolonged longevity, and also you are paying for a scent which you will not smell on anyone else walking down the street - which is the beauty of it. I have even tried to purchase the 'dupes' to save some money, but no one can nail the scent the way LV does. If you want to smell sophisticated, put together, clean and unique this scent is for you. I can't recommend this scent to anyone enough. 10/10 also I am a female and really wish this leaned a bit more feminine but I layer it with more feminine scents to kind of reduce the harsh masculine vibes of it.

This one gives off a clean, earthy vibe with a kind of “cloudy” feel to it. The opening is super fresh — even a bit green. It doesn’t really smell like rain, but more like that quiet mist on a cloudy day, with damp earth and wet leaves in the air. It’s a chilled-out, peaceful scent — almost a little poetic. Great for work, casual business meetings, or anything semi-formal. It’s not the type of fragrance that grabs attention or makes a bold statement — more like an easygoing daily scent. Leans more toward the well-dressed side, but it wouldn’t feel out of place for a laid-back daytime hangout either. To me, the drydown feels pretty similar to Orion. And no, it doesn’t smell like Aventus — and honestly, I don’t even think Orion smells that much like Aventus anyway. It’s more about the vibe than the actual notes — they share a similar kind of presence during the day. Projection isn’t super strong, but the staying power is solid. It kind of disappears and comes back randomly during the day (maybe nose fatigue, but I don’t think so). On me, it faded around the 6-hour mark, then popped back up an hour later and stuck around for another couple of hours. I’d say it lasted about 9 hours total, but in terms of actual noticeable performance, it’s more like 6.5. When it came back, it was already pretty faint.

A well rounded, mass appealing version of Atelier's discontinued Patchouli Riviera/Mistral Patchouli fragrance. Patchouli, iris, pepper and grapefruit stand out to me. Performance seems marginal from my limited experience with a tester on skin. This is my favorite among the LV for men. Given the performance, this is certainly overpriced. UPDATE!!! Well... I tried Montale's Vetiver Patchouli and find while it has striking similarities, it possesses a somewhat gourmand quality and is a little syrupy and sweet for my liking. Mistral Patchouli is still the closest thing to Orage but is a little too forward on its notes/less well blended and discontinued. SO with this scent profile still on my mind and after having the opportunity of numerous trial vials from the reps at LB, I broke down and bought this despite the pricetag. Ive learned that the performance of this is better than initially noticed. The issue is that this scent doesnt project so loudly however, it still has a noticeable sillage and while it sits closer to skin, it Does has excellent longevity. I really enjoy this scent because it is so versatile, smooth and tranquil. It opens up with a bit of freshness and citrus, then turns earthy until it dries down into a smooth and (with my own skin chemistry) slightly sweet patchouli. Love this.

At first when I sprayed this in LV store I felt this is nice patchouli fragrance but it was weak and can disappear from skin in couple of hours. And indeed when I put this on my hand in 3 hours it was gone so I thought that such a beauty is lost. And SA gave me sample and I put that on me and i realized that it was a mistake try this on hand. On me it was very nice and not that underperforming also. But it wasn’t a beast unfortunately. But the nature of this perfume doesn’t allow it to be because the concept is to be silent storm. When I put it on I couldn’t understand whether I is a clean scent or dirty one. With patchouli and pepper it was dirty but with bergamot, iris and vegetal Vetiver it is clean. It was a linear scent I didn’t experience and changes during evolution. But when I close my eyes and try to interpret the smell of the iris flower growing on a little dirty patchouli Vetiver base. It is a little wet but dry clean but dirt. Scent of opposites sides but attractive. It is soft skin scent but easily can be perfect signature scent for a man woh good taste of life. Not complement getter but for me very good artistic perfume. Performance wise I got 7-8 hours with medium to low sillage. For me 7/10. PS: I want this badly!!! but with that price it is practically difficult unfortunately.

To put it simply: Orage is LV's cool-masculine scent you would find on Melrose at Maxfeild LA or a collab they would do with Chrome Hearts. --- It is my favorite from the LV line (next to Ombre Nomade) and broke the unisex vibe most of the collection has (this went masculine). That musk + patchouli DNA is just perfect - think Creed Aventus but cooler, younger, cleaner and crisper without the pineapple and other fruit notes. Another user nailed the breakdown here: "This is Aventus's rich cousin from Cali". --- Love wearing it because it is slick, modern, masculine, and is a quite killer (it's not loud, it's just super proper and crisp). It's that type of fragrance you wear when you are young and got a good professional job (the up-and-comer who is going to make it) and want to spend some money for that signature scent that you can daily that is luxurious and cool but not too over bearing (an office killer you can wear out at night). --- One of the best from LV and no one has it really, so you also wear an underground scent which is a cool flex. --- The only issues with Orage is that it's linearly, what you smell right away is what you get for the whole ride and it has that wet-rice opening. It's not a complex novel like a Ombre Nomade.

First of all, Jacques Cavellier Belletrud has done an amazing job with this fragrance. He has somehow managed to capture a Thunderstorm in a bottle (Orage is French for thunderstorm). From the grey of the bottle/juice to the smell of rain seeping out of the earth just after it has stormed and the sun creeps out. This is a photorealistic interpretation of that. It is even further enhanced on an overcast spring/autumn rainy day. However due to the citrus top notes this still works in the summer too for an uplifting feeling. The scent is natural smelling and very unique making it well worth the money in my opinion. In the drydown the patchouli is bright not dark and the scent stays fairly linear. It is a very masculine scent I think probably because of the peppery/patchouli combo. Longevity is good. Atleast 6 hours before becoming a skin scent but I can still faintly smell it on clothes the next day. Sillage is moderate but fantastic smelling. Smells even more amazing outdoors. This is very close to a 10/10 fragrance so I bought a full bottle of this.

The scent is a very nice representation of the damp forest for sure. I mean, the scent is very photorealistic of that. It's very woody, earthy, and damp for sure, and the citrus hangs in there for a bit to brighten things up for a bit, but with those former notes listed being so dominant, I think this is best left for the cool spring, summer nights, or early fall weather where it will really shine. Sometimes scents like this remind me of hamster cages, but I actually really like this one, lol. It's very light on the hamster cage smell, but I am still reminded of cedar or something similar. PS- I only got those above notes after I did a full wear. Before, when all I did was a sample spray on my wrist, it was all citrus and musk. But once I did the full wear, those woodsy notes really began to shine through. And despite me giving it an 8.5/10, I still love this one. I really am in awe of the photorealistic damp woods smell.

I remember being in Las Vegas w/ friends and stopping into the Louis Vuitton boutique. I’m the fraghead of the crew so I wanted to put my nose on just 3 compositions - only 3 b/c I get scared that I’ll go nose blind really fast and won’t be able to fully grasp more fragrances. On tester strips, I sprayed Au Hassard, Sur La Route and Orage.... they were all very meh to my nose but my friend held onto the tester strips and as we are walking down the strip he pulls them from his back pocket and says this one smells amazing. I went to smell and he was right - it had developed beautifully and it was Orage. That patchouli iris combo is amazing and I immediately put Orage on my TO BUY LIST. Louis Vuitton is very expensive; therefore, it took me over a year to finally acquire a bottle of my own.

This is the best fragrance is the LV mens line, hands down! I love a patchouli/iris combo and this is a Patchouli bomb! Does smell like a rainy day here in Oregon! This is a natural patchouli, slightly dirty but very beautiful...comes off almost like patchouli oil to me in the opening. The iris is in the background but still very prominent. This is the masterpiece of the collection imho, the only problem its a skin scent. Its a fragrance you only grab for yourself because no one will smell it on you after a hour. This might be one of the best patchouli/iris combos I have ever smelled, hands down...smelling VERY natural not synthetic at all (and it shouldnt for the price). Super niche smelling, 10/10 on scent for me but its a skin scent after an hour and totally gone in 2hrs....

A really great fragrance. Best LV that I've tried and the only one I currently own a full bottle of. It starts with a wonderful citrus and grapefruit but it's balanced by the green notes and pepper, which ground the fragrance. In the mid the pepper and vetiver take over, and the patchouli comes in. I don't get much iris, but there is something that helps balance the earthiness, and maybe that's the iris and hedione? I go nose blind to the scent after about 5 hours, but other around smell it past to 10 hours mark. I can smell it on my clothes 30 hours later, so I know the longevity it there. I'm told by those around me that the sillage is great, but it doesn't project very far. A great year round signature scent, especially spring summer and fall.

Orage- the French word for “storm”. Oddly, I don’t smell the citrus, just Iris, maybe some black pepper briefly and the best, long lasting petrichor-patchouli I’ve smelled in....maybe, ever. I would say Orage is the most unique scent in this lineup as LV definitely has a few stars in the collection. A lot of people say it is better for cool weather or rain but I think wearing it in this extremely hot summer is great because the performance is outstanding and seems to get more intense with the heat. I did not expect much from LV as I assumed the fragrances would be “designer leaning” but I’m impressed. I’ve been obsessed with Orage since I first smelled it and finally got a full bottle today.

I agree with @eaudemale. It’s wonderfully done, staying power and projection underperform. I bought a full bottle based on reviews. I knew the gamble I was taking......I wonder if this will strengthen over time like Aventus?? Packaging, bottle, sprayer, scent, and qualities of ingredients all worth it IMO. I think LV has best presentation all around and that’s part of the fun for me. If you are looking for performance and Longevity. Pass on this one. Update: 1/4/20 I do think this is one of the most versatile frags I own. It does hang close to skin but longevity is 10+ hours. I have confirmed this after multiple wears.sRemember , this fragrance is for YOU not THEM. 9.2/10 🙏🏼 I Love it.

Smells amazing. It does remind me of a rainy day, but not the literal smell of rain. It’s more about the vibe — a moody rainy morning at home, AC humming softly, morning light slipping through curtains. Calm, quiet, and relaxing. I don’t find it as earthy or dirty as people often describe. On me, it leans more toward a comforting floral‐woody scent with a soft, atmospheric quality. It’s actually quite similar to Terre d’Hermès, but much softer and smoother — like the gentler, more introspective sibling. Such a cinematic fragrance. I personally love it.

I bought a 2ml decant of this and loved it except for its lack of performance. Even on the softest, warmest, most protected patches of skin it goes from 100 to zero in about 90 minutes. Price can’t possibly justify it. But whenever I can, I buy clones, and Alexandria makes a dupe of Orange called “Into the Woods.” It’s a dead-ringer right down to performance profile. The dupes today made using gas mass spectrometry analysis are so good that they mimic every aspect of the target fragrance it’s just silly. So I’d say buy the dupe if you’re into this.

aqaysos de pierre guillaume ( avec meilleur longévité et sillage) dans une bouteille Luis Vuitton , aucune créativité de la part de monsieur cavallier. pour le parfum je l’ai depuis peu de temps et je suis content c’est un passe partout et pour toute les saison un semi frais fruité (note de cassis qui n’est pas mentionné) floral et boisé, il tien 7 heures sur ma peaux avec un sillage modéré le prix est élevé c’est normal car c’est un LV . j’ai testé toute la collection homme orage et nouveau monde sont mes préférés

I don’t know what it is, but I can’t get enough of this one. I avoided Orage because I am not a huge fan of patchouli, but this scent just brings me back to walking in the woods behind my house as a kid. Do I wish it lasted longer? Yup, but I can respray. Do I wish it was cheaper? Absolutely, but it wouldn’t be something from Louis Vuitton if the pricing was affordable. I own multiple from the LV men’s line and they are all well done, smell good, and would be hot sellers if they cost $200 instead of $320.
